Keristen thought that she could escape from everything that happened at the reunion, only for fate to have its way with her heart. While trying to regain control of her wayward emotions and focus on work, the very thing she’s running from is becoming too close for comfort.
After Carter’s foundation was shaken by Keristen’s presence at the reunion, he has accepted a head coaching job at a local college. While trying to accept his reality he wants nothing more than to get to work, not just with his new team but with Keristen too. Since the reunion, he’s tried to fight every thought of her. No matter how hard he tries to deny it, he knows one thing for sure, Keristen is his. The only issue is the wall she’s built around her heart to keep everyone away.
Is Carter equipped to break down the wall blocking him from her heart, or will he get his own lesson in love?
Break Down Your Wall was a really good book but, it was so poorly written. I had the hardest time trying to figure out how to rate it. But, we'll get back to that later. I loved Kiersten and Carter. They were made for each other. These two had an interesting and complex relationship. Carter not only stood Kiersten up on prom night but, he also ran with the crew who use to bully her. Because of her horrible high school experience, Kiersten has never had a real relationship with a man because she doesn't trust anyone other than her mama and her bestie Quinn. When Carter moves to Darling, TX, he makes it his mission to get Kiersten to not only trust him but, to fall in love with him. He has his work cut out for him because, Kiersten has built up some border size walls around her heart that's going to be hard to knock down. Carter let his actions speak and wore Kiersten down. She finally realized she was not only worthy to give love but, to receive love as well. Kiersten went from not wanting to be in a relationship of any kind to being knocked up and engaged. I was over the moon for her and Carter. She absolutely deserved this happiness. Now, back to the writing. I wanted to give Break Down Your Wall 5-stars but, it doesn't deserve it. The writing was just too bad for me to give it 5-stars. This book was riddled with incomplete sentences, run on sentences, misspelled words, missing words, misplaced commas, and phrases used incorrectly. I could go on and on about how grammatically incorrect this book was written from chapter 1 to chapter 31. Honestly, I'm baffled at how the author allowed this book to be published and sold with so many errors and not be embarrassed by it. It's disheartening when bad writing ruins a good book and Break Down Your Wall could've been a phenomenal book if the author had just gotten it edited.
This book would have been a 5 , if it wasn't for all the grammatical errors. Keirsten wrecked my nerves in the first book. I must say she did in this one too, lol. Carter was all that. I just love me some Rome.
After Carter and Keristen spend a night together at their high school reunion they can’t seem to stop thinking about each other. Keristen has been traumatized from being bullied all through high school now as an adult she is dealing with a lot of insecurities and anxiety causing her to be guarded and not let anyone in. After Carter stood Keristen up in high school she finds it hard to trust him and let him in again, but after Carter experienced Keristen at the reunion he cant bear to loss her again.
Y'all Carter was not letting Keristen get away again. The way Carter chased her down had me like "If my man don't go after me like that I don't want him" lol. I mean this man wore sis down, she had no choice but to let him back into her heart. Carter is definitely bae.
I loved Keristen’s storyline and how she overcame bullying and became a successful woman in spite of everything she went through. Sis didn't let her anxiety run her, she dealt with it in her own way. Keristen did not play at all about her bestie Quinn sis hoped over a dang on table to get to someone going after Q.
This was my second Cassandra B read and I really enjoyed her writing style. I loved the bond she created between the friends and her romance was steamy. I will be checking out her catalog soon.
“Fear will have us fucked up out here. You finally got to a place where all those walls you built around you are gone but now that you’re uncomfortable, you want to build one up. You are going to stress yourself out. You cannot grow with walls around you.” I felt this quote down deep!
Keri is a woman about her career, her close friends, while appearing to have it all together but she is neglecting to address her issues. She doesn’t take the time necessary to deal with her feelings but when they pile up and bubble up to the surface, she is unable to push them down and repress them. She doesn’t want to allow Carter in. But he isn’t having any of that!
Carter is the demolition man! He was playing no games! He figured out the way to get beyond her walls and then obliterated them. He has his own issues that he needs to address but he is not willing to do life without her.
There some really amazing moments in this book. Reading how he pursued her and her opening up to him was funny, frustrating at times but overall beautiful. He understood her like no one could. Reading how she at times readily and reluctantly adjusted to receiving his love, care and protection was wonderful. She was able to give him what he needed in return.
Like I said in my review of the first book - she gave them hell, lol
Carter and Kiersten were made for each other. I love how they respected one another and loved on one another. Kiersten checked the mess out of Angie's thotting ways. Like the man clearly told you he wasn't interested but you kept on. Kiersten told her as well and she didn't care. Of course, Quinn and Kiersten's friendship is one that anyone would desire to have because it's the perfect balance of sisterhood and being able to be honest with the one you love. I was worried at first when Carter got the opportunity to coach in Dallas but happy that Kiersten just moved her office and employees down there with her.
Oh my!! These to was funny and crazy as hell. I love when she let her walls down and Carter in. Angie really need her ass kicked, all up in some face thirsty as hell. Now Rome I really love me some Rome. His ass was off the chain!!!😂😂😂😂. I'm happy Carter got, his women, the baby and his dream job. It might take months, are even years true love is out there. We have to be patience. And it come be right in front of us. It does happen on our time. It's in God Devine time. (Way to start out the New Year Queens!!).
Keirsten and Carter finally got their ish together! I'm glad they had a happily ever after because even though they acted like they couldn't stand each other it was all love underneath the surface!
SN: I wanted K to get Angie so bad!! Even though she kept it together I wanted her to just grab her one good time since she didn't take hints very well...smh Now... On to the last book of the series!
So this what we doing in 2020??? Dropping them hits back to back in my Drake voice. This series is everything from the storyline to the development of the characters. I love me some Keirsten and Carter. They are the perfect balance for one another. Even with Kristen's quirks, Carter loves her past and through all that. He meets her where she is and that's what I love. I adore the friendship between them all, but for real Rome is my favorite. Great job on this 10 star read!!!!
Carter and K, went through hell to find common ground. The push and pull, and stubbornness of them both was frustrating at times, but necessary. Once they began to break down each other's walls, the love they built was beautiful. Loved how K would turn into a pitbull, when Angie came around. 😃 Really enjoyed their journey. Can't wait to see how things turn out with Quinn and Ezra. Good job! 👍👍
Keristen and Carter.....where do I start? Years of built up lust and misunderstandings follow them to their high school reunion. Keri is a firecracker and Carter is the fuse, but he can also be the calm to her storm. 1-click and find out if Carter can "Break her walls".
Whew, that Keristen was meaner than a junk yard dog! I applaud Carter for hanging in there with her. I just knew that she was going to chip him up and spit him out but he survived and got her to throw down her gauntlet. I can’t wait to read book 3 to find out what’s going on with Quin and Ezra.
Carter played no games when it came to K. If anybody could deal with her it was definitely him. I loved how he loved on her and pushed through the walls she had up. I was happy they got their happy ending.
K had so many walls but for good reason. Carter crushed those walls to get the woman he wants. It’s ice to see their HEA in reach. I couldn’t help but wonder about Quinn throughout this book and I’m almost scared to read part 3 knowing she endured such a loss!
So I read book one with no expectation and book two with high expectation. I was not disappointed in the least bit. Carter was placed under Keri’s spell and didn’t let up until he got what he needed. Can’t wait to red Ezra’s and Quinn’s installment.
I loved them. They definitely kept me on my toes. The will they won’t they. Their relationship was complex and loving. It showed how important forgiveness is. And how sometimes in order to find love you have to look in the past
Loved watching Carter and Keristens journey to a relationship unfold. Self awareness, good friends and family and great chemistry brought these two together and it was a good read!
Carter plays zero games when it comes to K. She was a little stubborn but she had a reason. But I was so happy when they both let their walls down and let love in. 💜
