It seemed like a straightforward agreement: become a mistress to a gorgeous, alien Virilian male until an offspring is produced, then go home with five million dollars.
Desperate for money to continue her brother’s expensive medical treatment, Anna Baker signs the contract to enter herself in the running to produce an heir for one of these alien males. It doesn’t sound so bad, and hey, she’s always wanted to travel. To Anna’s surprise, she is chosen out of hundreds of qualifying women, but she doesn’t expect to be tossed in a transport ship, shuttled to a disreputable space station on the other side of the galaxy, and dropped off in a stranger’s bedroom. Her match is swaggering scoundrel Trak Letu, Prince of the Virilian fleet Exir, who turns out to be as infuriating as he is sexy. All she has to do is have his child and she can go home a rich woman, but the easier time passes with Trak, the harder it is to imagine leaving him, or the child he is desperate for.
Prince Trak’s people are heading for extinction, and honestly, mail-ordering a female from a distant planet isn’t his ideal way of meeting the mother of his future child. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to ensure his species’ survival, but the female chosen for him isn’t just beautiful, she’s opinionated, intelligent, and more passionate than he could have imagined. As time passes, he begins to dread the day Anna does have his baby, for he does not look forward to sending her back to Earth. However, Trak isn’t the only alien who desires her. When a trade deal goes badly and Anna, herself, becomes the currency, Trak must navigate a deadly path that unveils a frightening and dangerous face that all Virilian males strive to keep hidden. Even if he saves her, he could still lose her.
This story can be read alone with no cliffhangers and no cheating. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and always a happy ending.
It was more or less an OK read. Plot is basic, romance based on sex and writing is decent. 3 stars for a very simple and easily forgettable story seems fair.
Trak is a charming rogue, one of the Virilian race, who have sought out human females to help repopulate their numbers. As a prince of his pirate like people, Trak is of course one of the first to be given one. Anna went into the deal knowing she might be chosen as the mother of an alien, but needing the money she takes the chance. She is surprised when she is picked, and not exactly happy with the way she was transported; meaning her first meeting with Trak wasn’t on the best of terms. Either way, Anna is contracted, and Trak isn’t so bad to look at…
This is a quick and fun sci-fi romance, in which our hero is brash and lives up to the pirate like tendencies of his race. Anna comes from a humble background, which means she has earned the strength to give as good as she gets.
An enjoyable and fun start to this series set in the same world as Ms. Blake’s Baylan Chronicles, which apparently take place a little before this book. Recommended for those who enjoy a quick, light, sci-fi romance read.
First book by this author. The world created was really what i liked but the story lacked so much. I don't know what else to say other than lacking. Bones are there but it certainly wasnt fleshed out.
Virilian Mail Order Mates is an alien romance series. Each book in this series comes filled with adventure as romance blooms between two individuals: an alien Varilian and a human woman. The Varilians are aliens from a far away galaxy. They are humanoid, but with natural dark circles around their eyes (looks like they’re wearing black eyeshadow), a dark blue tail with a sharp spiked end, a god-like muscular figure, and covered in tattoos. Whenever a Virilian’s home or loved one is threatened, they turn into a rare demon form that runs so hot it burns everything around them. They grow in size in this form, skin emitting a red color, with flaming eyes and horns. As would be expected, they typically scare their unprepared human mate whenever this form takes over. The Virilians are running low on women and children, caused by a mysterious virus (of course), so they turned to Earth and it’s biologically compatible females. Earth agreed to the Virilian’s need for women, allowing only 10 women at a time to be selected with each woman generously compensated for their participation. The female candidates are selected by a blind Virilian sage who can see the souls of the perfect matches. Once chosen, their journey begins.
Trak is book 1 in this series, and follows the Virilian Prince Trak Letu of the fleet Exir and his chosen human mate Anna Baker. Anna chose to apply to be a baby oven for the money so her brother could afford his cancer treatment. Trak was a galactic play-boy encouraged to procreate for the future of their species. The two didn’t get off to a great start because the courier company hired to transport Anna to the trade port Trak was currently stuck at got the details confused and treated Anna as a slave instead of a free-willed individual. Oops. So Trak was stuck wooing Anna until her nerves were settled before commencing the procreation. Jealousy and possessiveness made appearances. There was an adventure on the trade station involving an attack and Anna’s life was placed in danger, where Trak’s primitive form took over. As time went on, they grew close, and what was supposed to be a financial transaction with no feelings involved turned into her staying with Trak and creating a family. Her brother got his cancer treatment, Trak got the children his species needed, and they all got their happily ever after.
The tension and buildup was balanced. The attraction was mutual and consent respected. The sexual encounters were erotic. The Virilian’s cocks didn’t vibrate or suck or do anything “alien like,” so to speak, but they were significantly larger than that of a human male’s. Yet somehow, each woman is able to take them like a champ. I still don’t know how women are able to “adapt” so well to giant cocks in all these alien romance novels. I personally had a lover with a well-equipped 10 inches at one point, and not once in our 2 years together did his cock ever get fully sheathed inside me. Is it just me? Are women’s vaginas drastically deeper than mine? I don’t get it. But I digress… it’s nice to fantasize about being “filled” again as I read these unrealistic love stories. If we ever do suffer a legit alien invasion, all us alien romance fanatics will be flocking to the spaceships with signs begging for abduction. Knowing my luck, it will be more like Independence Day and the aliens will be interested in destruction opposed to procreation. Damn it… I digress again…
Yes, this book (and possible series) is worth the read. I miss the first person format of my favorite authors, but this author has mastered the art of third person without removing her audience from the story. I will continue with this series. Onto the next book…

In this world, the Virilians make a deal with Earth to pay women to bear a child for them and can or can not be involved with the baby after birth. If mated, the woman receives $50K.
Anna's brother has a rare form of cancer so she needs the money. She is mated to Trak and at first is not interested in him, but then decides she'd like to try to have the baby. It takes her a bit, but meanwhile they fall in love.
Anna was raised by a father who taught her to be a minor criminal, and Trak's people generally are traders and are okay with questionably immoral behavior, though they do require women to be treated well. When Anna is kidnapped by another species, she saves herself and then saves Trak.
These books are all pretty similar, but I liked this one, this specific world, and the characters so I'll keep reading the series.
This book didn't work for me. The hero expects to immediately have sex with her, but she says she's not ready. He says ok and leaves. He starts sending gifts every day to her room. He ignores her for days other than the gifts. Finally she tracks him down and says she'd like to try.
Hero also uses British words and accent due to his translation chip.
I felt zero romance between them. Also, the hero asked her why she needed the 5 million dollars for having his baby and she just didn't tell him. All she had to say was her brother had cancer and needed the money for his treatment. Instead she makes him think she just wants the money. Stupid.
This book was cute, witty and well written. The hero was a charming swaggering rogue “merchant” and the heroine was deeply sympathetic and had scars in her past. The romance between these two was sweet and the adventure and suspenseful parts were very exciting. I loved the fact that the heroine saved herself from the kidnappers and shot and killed the villain trying to sneak up on the hero! Always great to see a killing instinct in a romance novel heroine! This novel ends on a satisfying Happy Ever After, too. A perfect little gem of a space opera romance.

Discovering a new author in a genre I never expected to read, I was enormously surprised and delighted. A quick and entertaining read full of other-worldly angst, adventure, lust and love, I fell in love with the characters. Take one virile, cocky, alien leader and pair him with a fearless and protective human heroine who knows her own mind and has her own agenda, and you have what should be a tug-of-war of wits and self-preservation. But through circumstance they balance each other out and end up the perfect match. I look forward to going back and reading the other books in the series.
I loved the world created, and the characters had good personalities and funny banter, but the actual romance was severely lacking. I would rather have cut the sex scenes and add more depth to the romance, which is saying something about how bad the sex scenes were. I mean, “kneading” breasts sounds like a bad first-time teenage experience, not skillful lovemaking.
As this is the first in a series, I’m interested to see how this author will improve. I love 3/4 of the book, but I really didn’t like that other 1/4.
I just discovered this author within the past week and have read this entire series and enjoyed all of the books. I especially enjoyed this book because the characters felt more real with the bickering and arguing between them, which was quite comic at times. The underlying plot continues to progress in all of the stories and I can't wait for the big reveals in the coming books. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for short quick and engaging stories.
This was a quick and enjoyable read about two souls that find completion in each other. Trak the alien falls quickly and deeply in love with his contracted surrogate but doesn’t want to recognize it. Anna is just as into the alien but it takes a dangerous situation for them both to admit it. I was entertained enough to borrow book 2.
This book was a great start to the series! The world building is fascinating and creative, and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series and spending more time in this setting. If you are a fan of Sci-fi and Aliens, this book is definitely a must read. Mature eyes only due to hot 🔥 Alien loving!!!
Trak and Anna. Great background on Anna lots less on Trak. Some nice adventure and suspense. English language chip seems a bit cumbersome for such an advanced race, humm. Liked the American slang vs British translations, funny. Anna's favorite saying: try to keep up.
Well developed characters. Loved their interactions. The plot was well written. I look forward to more Virilian books. This was my first book by this author, will be reading more.
Trak and Anna are instantly lovable characters. While Anna doesn't give herself enough credit, she proves herself to be capable of surviving by herself. Trak is charming and open. Separately they are pretty good but together they are spectacular!
This was enjoyable. I really liked all the main characters. I wish I knew more about how earth got introduced into the galactic universe but maybe I’ll find out in another book.
Good story about Prince Trak and Anna. The Virilian's are looking for some women to come to their planet, get pregnant and return home $5 million dollars richer. Anna needs this brother 's cancer treatments.
Trak and Anna’s story is a short fast read with action, loving and lots of twists. The one disconcerting element is the advanced Virilian alien species has to pop a translator clip in and out???
It’s rear that I as a person with English as my second language finds a book poorly written and the language staccato. It’s “ he said, she said, they did” all the way through. Not very deep personality development and a lousy story line!
Anna out herself into the mail order breeding program to have a Virilian's baby for five million dollars so she could save her brother with expensive medical bills. Trak is Anna's baby daddy and he finds himself intrigued and smitten.
Liked the bonding between Traq and Anna. But in between scenes seemed rushed and important events which would have connected us more with the characters wasn't given emphasis. At places the pace felt rushed
Trak has been given a female to procreate with per contract. Anna signed up for this to save her brother. She is treated abominably, kidnapped, and saved. Wow what a trip! Enjoy
Most enjoyable, I recommend this book if you like sci fi romance, it’s a nice easy read with well defined characters , humour, sex and a little adventure.
Points for the no nonsense Anna after all her life story. Trak was like a joker for me( made me laugh a lot) and the amusing part was his plans of winning her.
Really enjoyed this book. I liked the over all story but what I really loved were the characters and the build up of their relationship. Looking forward to the next one.
