They say it’s a myth. A campfire story to frighten children. One full of horrific deaths and a mysterious evil.
But it’s not a myth.
On what is supposed to be a night of joyous reunion for Lance Brody, instead he witnesses a terrible crime. A human life taken. The murderer does not flee the scene. Does not attempt to fight back. Instead he only offers Lance these “The devil in the woods made me do it.”
Knowing that the Universe has guided him to another town that needs his help, Lance Brody and his group of new companions begin to dig deeper into the evil that has plagued the town’s woods for centuries. The more they learn, the more afraid they become, and the more obvious it seems that somebody is trying to stop them. Lance has never seen evil like this, and despite his abilities and his gifts, he doesn’t know if he can win this time. Because the only way to fight … might be too terrifying.

This one didn’t disappoint! Waiting for this book to come out was terrible! Reading it was like being reunited with old friends. Lance’s supernatural purpose is really out to the test in this one. Characters are great, especially Barlow. Looking forward to finding out more of the job Lance is expected to do and how he does it. To get the full impact of the supernatural fighter who is Lance Brody, I recommend reading all 7 books in order starting with the prequel but this isn’t necessary. Lance is a fresh, original character and the author’s writing is engaging, makes you forget yourself and completely draws you into the story. Highly recommended.
Once again the author had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. His Lance Brody series is excellent. Lance and his girlfriend Leah are in a diner when a man pulls out a gun and aims it, Lance thinks it is aimed at Leah and so tackles the gunman but the gun goes off and kills a waiter. Before the man is arrested by the police he whispers to Lance ‘the devil in the woods made me do it’. Lance then realises why he has come to this small Pennsylvania town but he doesn’t realise that the task he is about to undertake will almost kill him. We meet more new characters in this book especially Bernie, a man who Lance comes to like and admire, a man who lost his twin brother when they were teenagers and still grieves for. Once again a dark, mysterious and macabre story which had me gripped from page one. As Vol5 & 6 came in the same book, I have already started part six. I can’t get enough, and hope that it doesn’t end here! A massive 5/5.
Enjoyed this next installment in the Lance Brody series. If I can't put a book down, then I know I like it, but I do have to say as I have said with all the others, I really, really wish the author would stop overusing unnecessary words such as 'had' and 'that'. It is really distracting and the only reason I persevere, is because I am enjoying the story and want to find out what happens with Lance and Leah. For example: His first line in the book is, "Lance Brody HAD finished the coffee." All the author needed to say was, "Lance Brody finished the coffee." Honestly, were he to go through his entire manuscript he would find SO many 'hads' that were not necessary. They could probably fill their own book. lol. So.....I hope he reads his reviews and does something about it. Other than that, keep 'em coming.
Michael Robertson, Jr.‘a Lance Brody Series is improving with each book and I enjoy his characters and setting. He’s got a ways to go before he’s up there with the big dogs but I think he’ll make it. However, these next remarks may be a little petty for some but, it would really be great if he had a better proof reader and if he could break himself from using the phrase, “exact same.” That word combination is so redundant and poor grammar that I generally quit reading a writer who insists on using it.
What an adventure for Lance. The journey that he has been on has brought him to his final confrontation. Lance has met memorable people that have helped him along the way. I was glad to see that he had some previous allies show up to help him with what was to come. I received a very clear message from this novel: that one must accept whom they are to be at peace with what life May throw at you. A must read for those who have read the other novels.
Fabulous! Lance Brody you were missed! Well done Michael Robertson JR well done
There's a devil in the woods ... And it wants Lance Brody! Another exceptional adventure with Lance and his friends. A young man who sees horrible things no human should see, yet remains as gentle as a spring rain. This story was so good! Hard to put down. I'm really hoping there will be more stories about Lance. Excellent reading!
Another " I couldn't put this book down! " in this series. Full of action and scary drama. The characters were great! I especially liked Bernie and was sad he died in the end. This is a series I'll add to my favorite authors and series book. Can't wait to find out what will be Lance Brody's next scary adventure. Hope this series keeps on for a long time!!!!
The Devil in the "Dark Woods" triggered me but I just knew Lance Brody would prevail so I kept reading and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed this installment even though it was nightmare inducing for me! I'm twisted like that 🙄 I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a little spooky with their suspense. I'm on to book 6 and sincerely hoping Lance's journey will continue for years to come!
With this creepy tale advancing now quite fast of Lance Brody and Lea, we get introduced to the Devil In The Woods in this book. His existance is whispered about from a dying man who has just shot up the diner. What and who is this 'Devil'? Is it real?
Though this is book 5 in this series, and the books come quickly, this was probably the most fun for me so far. And quite creepy. Can't wait for the book 6 'Dark Holidays'.
I'm so glad I found this series. Lance Brody is a fantastic character and is still evolving, growing and learning. He is building a store of allies: some still alive and some now dead. He is fighting a war against evil with his extraordinary powers which he is still developing and learning how they work, and also with these allies. I look forward to the next book eagerly.
I really enjoy the characters in Lance Brody’s world. I can “see” these books just like watching a movie, that’s what really good writing is. Love this series.
Love this series. The continuing journey of lance Brody. Once more facing the darkness, this time with friends, interesting characters. Can't wait for next book.
Very easy read in following the characters and the story line. Each book followed the storyline from book to book consistently and recalls were accurate from book to book.
I have been reading the Lance Brody series since book one. I was not disappointed with Dark Woods it was another great book that you felt the emotions Lance was feeling.
The series continues to be a great read. Book 5 left me feeling a bit better after reading it than I did when I started it. A satisfying and happy ending is always welcome.
I’ve read all of the Lance Brody series and one of the reasons I became a fan was there were no explicit sex until their one. It was brief but still not expected. Great story that didn’t need the lesbian sex scene. Totally out of place and unnecessary.
I really enjoyed reading the Lance Brody series of books. I felt as though I was living the story myself. These books would make a fantastic television series.
With each book I think this story will start to get old but each time I am not disappointed. There are new and engaging characters and stories. I can’t wait for what will be next!!
So much like Dean Koontz’s series, but different situations & a compelling read. It’s refreshing to read that though there are horrible situations, purity and love shine through.
Lances adventures never get old as he makes his way through good and evil. The world can only hope with great admiration that we truly do have an ace in the hole such as Lance to save this sad existance we call earth. .
This book was so good. There was so much action and suspense. A few twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. I hope there’s more of Lance!! Love love love!!
