My Ex-Boyfriend's Daddy

Rate this book
I used to call him Daddy as a joke...

Arlo was my ex-boyfriend's father and my boss.
He was my rock when everyone else abandoned me.
But I still wasn't strong enough to stay.
I thought running away was the right thing to do.

Three years later, a twist of fate brought us back together.

It started out as innocent flirting.
Then it changed from innocent, to giving him my innocence.
But nobody can find out what we did.
Especially his son.
It would ruin their already rocky relationship.

Just because I call him Daddy for another reason now doesn't mean he will choose me.

And if he did, am I ready to face everything I ran from?

3.5 stars i guess this one was just an okay read for me, not exactly feeling both Arlo and Phoebe. the pace was really slow too, but i thought the ending was a nice wrap up! 3.5 stars.

so, so boring. and dry. and boring. i should’ve stopped reading much earlier before i did. so boring. did i mention this was boring?

to be more specific - the ex-boyfriend’s dad in question is boring. the heroine is boring. the only interesting character is the shitty ex-boyfriend Jake, who’s gone past being plain religious to crazy town. i can respect that! that’s interesting! i’d rather read about his sudden & random conversion to a cuckoo brand of christianity (?) than sixteen chapters (at least) of the two main characters not showing any attraction to one another. there was literally no chemistry. i might as well have been reading a school textbook. i haven’t even gotten into the (again, random) slut-shaming.

i can’t get over how completely disinterested the hero was in the heroine. i keep saying hero because i genuinely forgot his name and i can’t be bothered to check. he shows a general concern for her wellbeing, but it’s so detached. even when the story actually gets moving (?) three years on, there’s basically zero. zilch. nada. even when he’s pondering a relationship with Phoebe, it’s beyond clinical. i’d rather a super, ridiculously horny guy than this black hole of human sexuality.

anyway. if there’s a book written about Jake, the aforementioned shitty, cultist boyfriend. would definitely consider reading that. now THAT. that could be interesting.

I felt like this book didn't really commit to either trope fully. It wasn't 100% a 'daddy' story and it wasn't really very focused on the ex-boyfriend aspect either. So it just felt a little lost for me. I was going into this expecting some serious taboo, and some fun daddy times but was unfortunately let down on both. The writing was good, and I might try this author again in the future but I'll have to do some deeper research before commuting to another book from her.

Gosh - I wish I had not wasted my time on this.. How in the world does it have 4 something rating?
On a scale of 1-10 on taboo level it was a 1.
Our heroine, whose name I have already forgotton is 18, in highschool, in love with her abusive ass boyfriend who has never touched her - because he is in some sort of cult. Sin this, Sin that... yada yad.
The heroine gets broken up with over some silly game she played with friends about her kink level. She also decides to quit highschool in the middle of senior year due to this "bullying".
3 years later she runs into ex's daddy and all of a sudden, he is so hot, and so this. All of a sudden she knows he is the love of her life. Also the whole ovaluation thing, what is she god? She knows when she is ovaluating because her attitude changed? She went from drop out to OBGYN. Congrats!
The hero, he was this big ass wimp - who allowed his son to talk to him any type of way. No alpha bone in his body. I hate it when both characters are suck door mats, ugh!
The author didn't potray the relationship well at all, between the ex and her and the ex's daddy. Sorry but this bored me to tears, it had potential but failed on so many levels.
I am giving it a 1, because a 0 is not very nice. haha

💋💋💋

I thought this was going to be a bit cheesy and predictable, I’m happy to say I was wrong , it was very enjoyable to read and kept my attention no problem.
These two have a slow burning relationship, for around 3 - 4 years , it’s their chemistry when they finally click that is explosive, and really makes the book .

Very enjoyable reading

I think this was a cute story of a young woman falling for her ex-boyfriend's father, but I felt the story lacked that little extra. It seemed like little tidbits were thrown in, but nothing ever came of them, so I felt slightly let down. Kelli Callahan writes really good daddy stories, this was no exception, and I look forward to reading more.

Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Phoebe takes an online test and when the answers to some private questions are leaked and everyone abandons her, she decides to leave town. The only one sad to see her go is Arlo, her ex-boyfriend’s dad. Three years later she and Arlo run into each other and sparks fly. Will this older man and younger woman find love? Fast-paced read with plenty of emotion and steam. Great characters and a story that draws you in. I liked it.

One-night changes everything for Phoebe. She thought she was taking a random quiz with some “friends” but those results quickly spread throughout her high school. She was humiliated, her boyfriend was disgusted by her and things forever changed. She leaves school, flees the town she grew up in and leaves her family behind. Flash forward three years and her past is mixing with her present when she runs into her ex boyfriends father and her former boss.

I felt horrible for Phoebe for what happened to her and she has had to work hard to survive on her own but she does is living and able to take care of herself. Her ex-boyfriend, Jake, was very religious, he had a chip on his shoulder and that affected all of his relationships. Arlo was always on team Phoebe, especially after what happened between her and his son, she was his former employee and knew how hard she worked even from her teen years.

These two reconnected quickly and formed an easy friendship, but the more time they spent together the more feelings began to develop. Eventually everything came to a head and from that moment on they couldn’t get enough of each other.

I was not a fan of Jake from the start, he was cold and disrespectful to Phoebe and his father. They showed him love and were there for him, but he just didn’t seem to care. However, he does slightly redeem himself and I liked him by the end. Phoebe and Arlo, despite the age gap, seemed to have a much better connection than Phoebe and Jake did. There is pretty much no drama when they confessed their relationship and I was kind of bummed about that, I wanted Jake to react a little more.

There was a slow build up to Phoebe and Arlo’s relationship but once they finally gave into their chemistry it was non stop steam. Phoebe’s use of the word Daddy did get a little excessive over times, though.

Overall, this book was enjoyable but at times felt a little too over the top. But if you’re looking for a forbidden, age gap romance with some steam this one is for you.

Quick Summary
Phoebe thought her whole life was planned out, she had the perfect boyfriend, they'd settled on the same college and it was all her one way ticket out of their tiny hometown. But when an innocent game gets out, her perfect boyfriend turns into a judgmental jerk and Phoebe's life crumbles.

Years later, she bumps into her ex's father, Arlo and suddenly her content life gets a surge of new energy and romance. From the one man that should be completely off limits.

~ My Thoughts ~
This was such a surprise read. I loved the taboo forbidden romance between Phoebe and Arlo but what I think I loved the most was the way their story unfolded. It wasn't insta-love but rather slow burn and getting to read how they go from acquaintances to friends, to lovers. I also really liked that these two had history and real life obstacles that they had to work out and talk about.

The steamy bits were also really good *sigh* Arlo and Phoebe had great chemistry. My only minor complaint is the whole Jake thing. Jake is Arlo's son and Phoebe's ex. He was a very religious minded teen and although he turns a new leaf later on, his behavior was just horrible and I really wish both Arlo and Phoebe would have called him on his behavior a long time ago. He got off a bit too easily, imo.

Full Disclosure: Because of Jake's religious beliefs, he and Phoebe never shared more than dry pecks on the lips and hand holding during their short high school relationship. Because she dropped out of school and moved to New York, Phoebe hasn't really dated and is still a virgin when she falls for Arlo. There's been a three year period since they last saw each other and neither has been dating or seeing anyone else so no outside drama.

  Heat Level: 4/5

After Phoebe was humiliated from an online test she took, she left town - not willing to deal with the embarrassment coming from everyone. Especially when her long term, holier than thou boyfriend (Jake) told her she was just as horrible as everyone else and dumped her. After working for Jake's dad, Arlo, for so long - he was sad to see her go but gave her a bonus to help her start her new life.
Fast forward three years, Arlo stops by a diner while he is in New York visiting a client and guess who is his server...none other than Phoebe. Taken aback at how gorgeous of a woman she has become, but a little disappointed seeing that she was having to work so hard just to survive - he offers the same job that she had previously.
As they work together and spend time with one another - they grow closer and the sparks start to ignite until one night those same sparks turn into a blaze. But as the case comes to a close and Jake makes amends with his dad and Phoebe - will Arlo and Phoebe's new love survive?

This is my favorite out of Kelli's Once Upon a Daddy series - the dynamic between Arlo and Phoebe is just fantastic. I loved how it was just natural between them and the slow burn build between the two is to die for. There are spankings - but no rough play - and a little Daddy play, so if you aren't into that please tread lightly. Either way, I highly recommend this read because Kelli nailed all my boxes on this one and I can definitely see myself reading this one again in the future.

FANTASTIC READ
WOW WOW WOWI really enjoyed this book. I couldnt put it down and only got 4 hours sleep last night and now I'm up ready for a busy day at work but am I bitter?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it was sooo worth it!!!!!!!!!!
Phoebe thought she had struck gold when she found her boyfriend whilst she was still in high school. She had met Jake when she worked for his dad in his lawyers office. Phoebo even joked and called him Daddy when she got with Jake. Jake and Phoebe had their life planned out. Going to college together, Then marriage and kids they could both see it clearly until one night at a slumber party when a game gets out of hand. Phoebe was tricked to think she was playing a game and no one would eve know her answers. That and alcohol was a bad mix. When she returns to school on Monday she finds that her answers have been put online and it destroys her relationship with Jake.
Now 3 years later She bumps into Jake's dad Arlo. The pair get talking and plan to met for drinks and catch up after all they always got on just fine.
Arlo ends up offering Phoebe a job that has they working long hours and very closely. What will they do when feelings start? There just seems to be so many things that are wrong with them getting together but can you fight feelings that go as deep as theirs?????
I totally loved this book and cant wait to reread it over and over again. It made me laugh out loud and the passion between these two is electric!!!!
OMG SO GOOD. IT'S A BRILLIANT READ!!!!!

Pheobe is a senior in H.S. While at a party she plays a stupid game. A girl that has been bullying her a while thinks it would be fun to post the results which in turn ruins her life because everyone in her school now is teasing & bullying. Her boyfriend even breaks up with her. She drops out of school & moves away. Prior to leaving she goes to her ex boyfriends house to explain but he's not there just his father whom she always called him Daddy for fun. Arlo comforters her & gives her money to help.
Years later they run into one another in New York. She lives there & Arlo is there to help a family friend. He's her lawyer. He hires her because he needs help. She accepts the job, which is more money then her previous one. On their down time they hang out together. Since being with each other and enjoying each others company. One thing leads to another & they start calling for one another. One night while together Pheobe brings out the list from that stupid game all those years ago. The explore all the freaky naughty things she wanted to do with an older man who just happens to be 'Daddy' Arlo happens to be that one in the same. He wants to show her she's not a freak & it's natural to feel that way. Pheobe is happy she 's with Arlo exploring everything with him. Her life has changed for the best. She over came bullying in the hardest way.

It's cruel how kinda treat each other and how those taunts can leave mental and emotional scars on us. That's the case in this story when some personal answers kinky questions get leaked to the whole school by the ex-girlfriend/bully of our FMC high school boyfriend. Her being super religious and judgemental, doesn't stand by our girl and allows her life (in the eyes of a teenager) to go up in flames. She drops out of school and runs away to NYC. The only person who was remotely kind was her ex's Dad, Arlo. Years later, she's working multiple jobs and still emotionally burned by the whole experience until she happens to run into Arlo. They catch-up and talk (as friends). He offers her a job. Things start to slowly heat up, then it's love and complications. It's all HEA by the end.
I was nervous at first that the Arlo was going to fall for his son's ex-girlfriend (who was in high school). I mean, I like a little Daddy kink, but I'm a grown woman and something just make me feel a little like a pedo. Thankfully!!! That was not the case with this book. It was just the backstory for the plot . Definitely, s good addition to Daddy mix

Mature men are the best! Although this mature man was the father of her ex, she made the right choice at the end! This story is about Arlo and Phoebe. Phoebe is dating Arlo's son at the beginning of the book, but after a silly game between teen girls, she is outcast as a dirty weirdo by her boyfriend's ex. He then breaks up with her as he has decided to change his life to righteousness and she doesn't fit in the equation. Well, she then quits school and decides to move to NYC. Arlo, who she called "Daddy" when visiting her boyfriend or having dinner with him, decides to give her money to start off a good life where ever she decides to go. She ends up at NYC and years later he walks into the diner that she is working at. They start to talk and he gives her an opportunity to work with him again and she takes his offer. Unknown to both, they end up falling for each other and she gives him more than she ever expected. This was a great story, it is a shame that a son who is heading in a right path of religion does not see that forgiveness is the first thing that he should have done, but in the end the mature one won.

At a night over at a friend's house Phoebe took a test online about what she would or wouldn't do with her partner. However the girl that started the game made it to where you had to drink if you chose no for an answer Phoebe didn't know that the girl was planning on posting her results online. When she did it cost Phoebe her boyfriend that was really religious like. She couldn't handle what others said about her to she quit school and left town to start over. Several years later she runs into Arlo her ex's dad who she used to call Daddy also. He is in town for business and comes into the diner she works at. Sparks fly between them and they try to fight what they are feeling. Yet they continue to spend time together. Arlo hires her to help him with some work like she used to do before she left town. Not long after things heat up between them. What will his son say about them being together? Will Arlo claim Phoebe as his own?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Arlo was the father of Phoebe's boyfriend. After a couple of years dating and knowing Arlo, Phoebe called him Daddy as a respectful title. He kept telling her to call him Arlo. Phoebe worked as a researcher and filer in his law office; hired because he knew she needed the financial help to go to college when she graduated high school. During that time, Phoebe felt her boyfriend pulling away from her and didn't know why. Then one day he just quit having anything to do with her. He also stopped having anything to do with his father. When Arlo had to go to another city for his client, he realized he needed help. About that time Phoebe had already left and was working a minimum wage job to make a living. They met and were surprised to see each other. After thinking about it, Arlo asked her to work for him with a pay raise to make up for her job and the extra job she was also working. After that, Arlo realized his feelings for her and Phoebe also faced the fact she was attracted to him. The story built up from there and with the twists working through the plot, it became a really good read. I recommend this book

Will dreams of the future be fulfilled or will they break like those in the past?
by sewsummore

This was a romance between a young woman and an older man. She was once his son's girlfriend but that was in the past. Now she was his employee and a friend in the lonely big city. The age gap never worried them, they had always had a good relationship in the past, but working close together day after day there was an attraction between them that kept growing until it exploded into a weekend of erotic lovemaking between them. When his work came to a close it was time to return to their hometown and he wanted her to come with him. The past weeks between them and convinced them that what they felt for each other was love but would it be enough. This story hooked me from the beginning, Phoebe had such dreams of the future before she left home, would those dreams be fulfilled or will they break like her dreams in the past. Read the book to find out the exciting and dramatic conclusion to their story.

Oh Daddy!!!

My Ex-Boyfriend's Daddy Kelli Callahan is an interesting story about Phoebe and her ex-boyfriend's father Arlo in this older man/younger woman romance. Phoebe had been dating Jake during high school but he judged her over something and then dumped her. She was humiliated in school and instead of staying she fled town. It is now three years later and Phoebe crosses paths with Arlo again. He had always liked her, not in the sleazy way but in a respectful way. So they start to see each other as friends and spend time together. But one night things change between them and Arlo becomes Phoebe's "Daddy". They have a real connection that transcends the age and social status differences. The real issue will be if their secret is found out.............which you just know it will be.

This story was an overall enjoyable story. There were times where it moved slow, I think it could have used a good editor and dropped a hundred pages or so, and was OTT but it was all in good fun and you just need to let the author take you where she wanted this couple to do.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Pheobe’s over the top religious zealot high school boyfriend, Jake, dumps her after his ex-girlfriend posts her answers to a game played at a slumber party. Phoebe’s public humiliation is so bad that she drops out of high school and leaves town a few days later, after quitting her job at Jake’s fathers law firm. Fast forward 3 years later and a customer at a diner happens to sit at one of Pheobe’s table and it’s none other than Jake’s father, Arlo. They meet for drinks later which then leads to meeting again. At their second meeting Arlo offers Phoebe a job making a lot more working for him as a research assistant than as a waitress. He is in New York City working on a complicated criminal case. He offers her a 1 year contract. Phoebe accepts the job. They work well together and end up spend I gotta the weekends doing stuff together such as drinks and dinner. They end up together in a relationship that eventually leads to marriage.

I really loved this story. If I had to pick one thing that made it a story I loved, I doubt that I could, but overall, I loved it. The characters were well developed and I loved their interactions. Arlo and Phoebe were awesome together.

Phoebe used to call Arlo Daddy as a joke. He was her ex-boyfriend’s father and the only one that believed in her when everyone else turned away from her. They were both surprised to run into each other three years later. They decided to catch up on things with each other and then things took off on a path neither of them expected.

I really loved how this story played out. Phoebe's friends were supportive and awesome (well, the ones she had in the city and her bestie!). Arlo was so secure in himself and in their relationship. Loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book. You will love it!

I wasn't sure how I was going to react to this one. If it was like a lot of others. Most of these stories are all sex, a small back story and little depth. I was really surprised that this one was so different than that. A female on the cusp of woman hood makes one stupid mistake in the grip of alcohol that ruins her life in many ways. And then after so much hurt changes her life completely. Her boyfriend judges her harshly without getting all the facts. She meets up with his father whom she knows from when she dated his son. They end up in a deeper relationship than either thought. Loving, growing, exploring and finding things out about each other and more. She developed a maturity that helped her grow into a level headed person able to see that even though he is her ex's father and older they could have something beautiful. I could go on and on about this one. I highly recommend it.

Another great older man younger woman story from the very talented Kelli Callahan her books always flow well and draw you in until that last page and this one is no excwep[tion

Phoebe life collapsed around her when she attended a slumber party Her boyfriends ex was there and she caused drama for Phoebe the only thing was that her boyfriend Jake didn't stand up for her he turned her away. Arlo who was Phoebe's boss and Jake's father was sad to see her go but he understood her need for a change so he gave her a bonus so she could start a new life. Now three years later he comes across her working in a diner and offers her a job but things soon heat up between them how come he has a better relationship with his new employee than he does with his son and how will his son handle things if he starts a relationship with Phoebe you will have to read to see if they get a HEA

Phoebe is dating her bosses son Jake but when her darkerst and dirtiest secrets from a party are posted online the next day he ends things with her. Phoebe gets comfort from his dad Arlo who is her boss and who she would jokingly call "daddy". With all of Phoebe's dirty laundry aired online she drops out of school and goes to New York. Several years have past and Arlo and Phoebe run into each other again and Arlo asks Phoebe for help on a case he is working on. There relationship starts as a working one but it turns into so much more than that. There is a little bit of an age cap between these two but that won't stop them. Phoebe gets the closer with Jake that she needs so so can move forward in her relationship with Arlo. I truly enjoyed reading this book.

I wasn't sure how this was going to work...a young girl ending up with her ex-boyfriend's dad?? Well, I was pleasantly surprised because this is not as awkward as I would have thought. There's enough time and healing for Phoebe to be over her past relationship with Jake before she forges a friendship and so much more with his dad, Arlo. I found their story to be romantic and sexy. And, I found them to be respectful to each other and to Jake that it made me like them even more. Phoebe and Arlo are so good together and their chemistry is intense. This is a really good 'forbidden' romance that doesn't disappoint.

This slow burn older man younger woman romance will capture you from the beginning & keep you turning those pages! I had an extremely hard time putting this book down & loved every minute of it! It starts when Phoebe is in high school dating Arlo’s son Jake. When an ex succeeds in sabotaging her & Jakes relationship Phoebe leaves school & flees from her hometown. Her & Arlo wind up running into each other and reconnecting in more then just a friends way! I love how they tried to fight their attraction to each other even though it was mutual. Once they gave in the rest is history! This is a great easy read that I highly recommend you grab today!!

DNF @ 62%. Good lord this was boring! Chapter after chapter of the two MCs having dinner/drinks and being completely platonic with no chemistry at all. Sexy times happen around 50% and they are not sexy at all, but she starts calling him Daddy again during their first time (she called him that as a joke while dating his son) and I was just like... no, this guy is not Daddy at all 😂 This would probably be a perfectly fine, vanilla, uneventful age-gap romance without trying to force the whole Daddy thing.

Stop tricking me, authors! If a book claims to be in the Daddy category I have Expectations That Need To Be Met.

“That game she played has turned both of us into what some would call Dirty Freaks, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Dirty Freaks indeed. What was originally something Phoebe regretted, turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

The story moves along nicely with so much to digest that it will keep you interested and on the edge the whole time. It’s hard to imagine that something like what happened would actually go on now but people can be so cruel.

Arlo and Phoebe are perfect for each other and I enjoyed reading this story so much!

Phoebe is a highschool student and is dating Jake. Jake is a really big jerk and ends up hurting her. When Phoebe is done licking her wounds she runs into Arlo, Jake's father. Phoebe use to work for Arlo and he needs her help again. Arlo and Phoebe are friends, or so they try to be. They end up being far more than friends and this is the story of their extremely sexy and hot relationship journey. I have read quite a few books by Kelli Callahan and I am forever impressed with each additional work of hers that I read. Kelli Callahan is one of my favorites.
