In every moment the universe is whispering to you. Even ordinary events in your life carry communications from the realm of the Spirit. . . . Whether we are conscious of it or not, the universe is communicating to us through signs. In this mind-opening book, renowned healer and author Denise Linn shows that coincidence, synchronicity, and those premonitions we've all experienced are never accidents but a kindly world's way of trying to nudge us in the right direction. Drawing on firsthand true stories and native wisdom from around the world, Linn helps us regain our innate capacity to listen to the universe, to use the signs that speak to us every day of our lives. Step by step, she shows us how to call for a sign, how to create the best conditions for receiving it, and how to interpret the signs we receive, with the most comprehensive dictionary of signs ever compiled. Designed to help you develop your own ability to interpret signs as they call to you, the dictionary entries give you a starting point for understanding what your signs are communicating. For instance . . * An abyss might symbolize a chasm in your life. Is there something that seems impassable to you? * A storm can indicate internal conflict. It can also indicate that the air is clearing in regard to a situation in your life. * A crossroads signifies that a time of decision is ahead. Take time and tune in to your intuition before choosing your future path. * Smoke can be a warning of danger. Is there a situation in your life that's about to go up in flames? Smoke can also indicate a lack of clarity. With this powerful, easy-to-use guide, Denise Linn helps us to reconnect with the magic of our inner selves to make the right decisions and choices in our lives.
Denise Linn’s personal journey began as a result of a near-death experience at age 17. Her life-changing experiences and remarkable recovery set her on a spiritual quest that led her to explore the healing traditions of many cultures, including those of her own Cherokee ancestors, the Aborigines in the Australian bush, and the Zulus in Bophuthatswana. She trained with a Hawaiian kahuna (shaman), and Reiki Master Hawayo Takata. She was also adopted into a New Zealand Maori tribe. In addition, Denise lived in a Zen Buddhist monastery for more than two years. Denise is an internationally renowned teacher in the field of self-development. She’s the author of the bestseller Sacred Space and the award-winning Feng Shui for the Soul, and has written 16 books, which are available in 24 languages. Denise has appeared in numerous documentaries and television shows worldwide, gives seminars on six continents, and is the founder of the International Institute of Soul Coaching®, which offers professional certification programs in life coaching.
Practical guide to becoming more intuitive and aware of synchronicity and meaningful signs and symbols in your life. I found this book at the moment I needed it - a very helpful book.
The first 30% of the book talks about the kinds, sources and reasons of signs from our everyday life, with real-life examples for illustration. The later part of the book is like a sign dictionary with interpretations of signs (in alphabetical order). I would have given this book a higher rank if it talked more about how to connect ourselves to the universe to receive signs.
I had the most amazing breakthrough while reading Denise Linn's book The Secret Language of Signs. I didn't realize how much and how often Spirit was trying to communicate with me before I started reading this book. Now I watch for signs in my body, my surroundings, music, conversations, nature, and other people. In fact, there is hardly a time when the Universe is not speaking!
I got a message in a dream and when I looked up the key words from the dream in the Sign Dictionary contained in Ms. Linn's book, the dream made perfect sense to me. I knew exactly what the symbols and words meant and it gave me peace to know that something from my past was coming up for healing. After dealing with it, the pain in my body ceased! My body had been trying to give me a message for about six weeks, but I just didn't get it. I didn't even know my body could speak to me about emotional issues.
Here's another example: I was reminded of the same name six times in a 24-hour period. Once, I saw it printed on a napkin; then, I heard it on the radio. Next, I saw a popular person by that name in a photograph hanging on the wall in a restaurant where I was eating; I saw it again on a billboard, then in an email, and finally on a note someone scribbled on a scrap piece of paper that was on my desk! That very same day, I found out that a person I knew by that name is expecting a baby! Plus, when I looked up the name in the Sign Dictionary, I found an even deeper meaning for me personally. I get it now.
How helpful are signs? I heard a radio announcer talking about an auction of rock `n' roll memorabilia. One contract signed by a popular band in the 1960s went for over $100,000! At the time, I was having difficulty with someone, whom I felt was trying to take advantage of me. I remembered that I had signed a contract with the person, so I pulled out the contract and reminded the client of the terms we had agreed upon. My problem was resolved!
There are signs all around us. Now, I know what to watch for and how to listen for them, I'm going to be looking for signs from now on. Thank you, Denise, for sharing.
What I like most about this book is that unlike dream dictionaries, this book asks us to pay attention to symbols and signs that occur in our waking life. There's interesting stuff going on if you pay attention.
I found this book particularly interesting for its case by case basis in the beginning. It is a quick read, because rarely do people read a dictionary. The dictionary is meant for referral when asking a question, not for light reading, and since I read this later in the evening, it made more sense just to stick to the opening pages.
Continuing with the review, this was a fascinating explanation of the instances in life that hint at later occurrences, current problems, or happy accidents that lead to many interesting adventures in life. I found this book useful and may use some of the concepts for future writing.
Meh... The first 80 pages are a brief overview. The remaining pages are a collection of interpretations of what some signs "could mean". It's very dream dictionary like with little to ground the definitions in anything concrete. The definitions missed the mark for me. Signs are personal and will have meanings only you can give them. This was more of a (very) broad offering of what the author interprets the signs to mean to her. It could be very leading to someone unfamiliar with signs and all that comes with them.
i thought i would learn more from this book than i did, but it's not that the book is lacking, but rather that i didn't learn anything NEW.. i already believe in signs and that they come to us in many forms and ways.. instead of looking for a "sign dictionary" [which the last half of the book is] i tend to go on my own intuition and hunches.. if you are new to understanding the signs that the Universe sends us, or that we encounter in dreams and in nature.. this book is great..
This is a good book and the extensive list of signs and their meanings will make a great reference. I was hoping for more thoughts on how to engage/recognize signs in our own life. It was a lot of anecdotal stuff which is interesting, but didn't really spark an understanding of applying it to my own life. Overall, though, a good book.
I order t this book and didn't realize it was just a dictionary. I should have looked deeper before , but it did have a few insights that interested mw
This was interesting. I don't feel it makes sense to rate it because it was pretty much a glossary of signs and the corresponding meaning. But still had some interesting concepts.
Absolutely marvelous! Very thought-provoking...I was dazzled, and childishly giddy for a couple weeks after reading it. It was my first introduction to the ideas of signs and affirmations, and came at a time when I greatly needed some magic and curiosity in my life.. ^_^ The only complaint I'd have would be that it wasn't longer.. :D
Denise Linn makes learning and understanding yourself and your environment so easy. When I read her books it is like I am talking to an old friend. Her writing is simple but deep and I can easily relate to her thoughts. The Secret of Language Signs is a great book to read and reread and refer to over and over again. Each time I pick it up I find something new
What an amazing book! I have read this one over and over and have it near my desk. I refer to this book anytime I have one of those..."Hmmm, I wonder what THAT means" thoughts pop into my head.
Great for dreams, recurring sightings (like seeing three crows on a limb) and such.
I wish I knew before I ordered this book (granted I got it greatly discounted) that almost 2/3rds of the book is just a sign dictionary. Granted I did enjoy the first half, and it did help/remind me to look at happenings a little more in depth.
