Temptation

Rate this book
People grieve differently. Some hide in a corner and cry, others find strength in the arms of loved ones, while a few swallow their sadness and cherish the good memories.

None of those appealed to Professor Penelope Ford.

When fate tested her, tearing apart her life with her fiancé, Michael Davis, she refused to accept her new reality. Instead, she chose to live in a fantasy world of her own creation.

For four years, Penelope worked on designing a clone of Michael. She wanted this new version to be stronger, smarter, and – most importantly – even more devoted to her.

She craved a lover who would never walk out of her life again.

Will the professor succeed in making her human-like android exactly what she wants him to be?

Even more, will she be able to face the real world with what her grief has created?

So...I've been waiting for this book since November! LOL When I first found out the release date, I told Rose that if only she'd release it ten days sooner, it'd be a great birthday present for me. When my birthday arrived last Tuesday, she was so sweet and gave me an ARC of the book as a birthday gift! <3 I couldn't wait to read it!

I finished it a couple days ago, and - even though I HATE cliffhangers (LOL) - they are kind of necessary in any series where multiple books are occurring. Or TV shows, or movies, etc etc. Anyway, I'm rambling. LOL

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!! It kept me so intrigued through the entire thing, and since I've finished it, my mind is full of a million questions! All the mystery has my brain clusterfucked (pardon my language)! LOL But these are some of the kinds of things I like about stories, when things happening grip you and make you question them, and really make you wonder which fork in the road the story is going to take. All the possible twists and turns make it so much more intriguing to me!

This story has all of that, and I can't wait until the next book is released to find out where the characters go from here!!

Also, a little side note: Because I love Rose and her stories so much, I've left my pre-order up and waiting for the public release. Rose doesn't know that, but she will now when she reads this. This woman is an amazing person all around, and she's gone through a lot, and continues to go through a lot. Keeping my pre-order going is my way of expressing my thanks to her, and expressing my love of her stories.

Those of you that haven't pre-ordered this book yet - or even purchased any of her other available books out there - I urge you to do so! After reading it, I'm certainly not disappointed!! I want more!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Rose has done it again! The Colorblind Trilogy has some competition, as far as I'm concerned. Heart of Steel shows just how far someone would go to bring back a loved one. After loosing her soulmate, Penny a brilliant scientist does just that by creating MiDal13, or Ian as he called. Temptation is the beginning of their story and very different from Rose has written before. I loved reading this wonderful story and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something new and different.

What would you doing you lost your true love? Would you do anything to simply hear their voice again? Heart of Steel tells the story of a woman who lost her soulmate but has the ability to bring him back, sort of. Gripping story with artificial intelligence, love, angst, and drama all in one. Rose has written another amazing story. Give it a read, you won't be disappointed

This is the first of a trilogy.
Sometimes love makes you do crazy things. So can grief. But when you’re grieving for the love of your life, crazy may be just the beginning.
When Penny lost her love, she decided to build a replica. Her android would be a duplicate of Michael in every way possible, only this one would never leave her.
He’s just like Michael: handsome, strong, smart, protective. He’s a quick learner, too. Soon he knows Penny better than Michael ever did.
But even though he’s replaced Michael in Penny’s life, he’ll never have Michael’s place in her heart. Penny knows that. But does the android?
This is a futuristic love story, with a sci fi twist, and a good bit of mystery. Good luck with picking a genre, because it fits in several.
Penny is a little obsessive about Michael. Ok, a lot. She does build a duplicate of him after all. And he is everything she wants and more. The problem may be the ‘more’ part.
No more spoilers, but is there anything the android won’t do for Penny?

Rose has yet again written a story that grabs you from the 1st chapter. This story will make question everything you understand regarding love and sorrow. When you love someone so much your willing to do anything for just a chance to hear and see that person again in any form. You will question yourself on morality and ethics. Please give this story a try and see the impossible become possible.

All I can say is being on book 2!!! I don’t know if I can explain without giving too much away but I will try.
Rose has done an incredible job with her move into the robotic field. There is some technical usage but nothing drawn out or boring. There’s just enough executed to follow the storyline. Penny, our scientist, is quite the perfectionist and has every single detail planned out or so she believes. Like all of Rose’s stories there is a love story to be found. Penny just has to get him perfect. There are hopes and dreams from the beginning that will pull you through desperation and heartbreak. How long can Penny keep her secret? Will she cross the line between moral and immoral? Has Penny crossed that line a long time ago?
This is new ground for me reading wise and I am loving it with the exception of the cliffhanger! Rose always leaves us hanging and I cannot wait for book two!

Move over black keys I think we have another hit series.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this story. I hate leaving spoilers so I’m going to try and sensor this review as much as I can.
This is completely different to anything I’ve read from this author and it’s out a huge risk that’s definitely paid off. The story is so unique and imaginative I wanted more after every chapter. I had hundreds of ideas of where this was going and was surprised at every turn of the page.
It’s a story of Penny who is a brilliant scientist who is trying to replace her lost fiancé. I’m not going to get into what happened to Michael as it will spoil it, but he’s the love of her existence. She is desperate for him to come back to her so she sets out to make an exact clone of him. MiDal13 is created and what happens next will blow you away. I don’t know what I wanted or expected from this book but I got everything and more, this story has experiments, love, loss, hope, despair, suspense, murder, friends, family a little bit of baddies, I don’t think I can do this justice without giving important things away. Penny is a wonderful, intelligent and strong professor who has a lot of battles ahead. I love MiDal13 or later we know him as Ian I think the character Rose has written is just genius.

Long overdue review. Had to deal with family stuff but Heart of Steel was not so far from my mind even with my family crisis.

At first, I didn’t know how the story made me feel. I struggled with the genre, and the concept of AI and very “human” robots.  I didn’t know how to feel about it and how to connect with Ian.

Penny made it hard for me to relate to her and her choices, but even more so, the emotional back and forth, and the “I know I shouldn’t be doing this but I will anyway”.

I read this twice and on my second read took time to process it more. That’s when I saw and felt Penny’s pain and despair. Desperation that led her to her choices. Penny opened the door to her own personal hell, she lied to the people that mattered to her.  She manipulated.  During her Penny moments you can feel her desperation take on a life of its own.  Where else would she take this? What else is she willing to sacrifice for the love of her life?  Is there a price too high?

And my biggest AHA!  I felt for Ian, a heart break that was hard to explain.  I just know that my heart breaks for him and what he might never be.  He is supposed to be Penny’s Michael and he existed to be so, and make Penny happy.  He is always aware of his purpose, being programmed that way. Yet, in spite of Michael's memories built in him, having Michael’s voice and his existential purpose to make Penny happy, it doesn’t seem like it will be enough. Penny knows he is not Michael. She constantly reminds herself of this and how she only loves Michael.  I’m afraid for Ian and where he may end up, what may become of him.

The sub plots and secondary characters while pleasant felt like they had more to say and give to the story but not quite yet explored.  Although, I can see that they will be in the next book(s).

I can’t wait to read the next book.  Rose Marshall did it!  She made me feel a story that was difficult for me to relate to.  Rose showed the complexities of human emotions and what we are capable of.  How tragedy and devastating loss, if not dealt with can lead us in a cycle of unethical, immoral and wrong choices. We can lose ourselves in it.

Where will Rose Marshall take Penny, Ian and Michael from here? Are we going to see Sam again? What about the project (being Ian), where will the story lead the secondary characters? Who can Penny trust?  Who will be there for her when all these come unglued?

This story had everything from drama,  sex, moral and ethical issues, crime, suspense written and excellent from beginning to end.  I can’t wait for the next book.  Please don’t keep us waiting too long!

I have been waiting for the release of that book for weeks and I knew the moment I get my hands on it I won't be able to take eyes off the pages till I see the words "To be continued"
(I finished reading the book in the span of 24 hours and it took me that long as I spent 4 hours trying to perfect this review and still I don't think I made the book justice)
Honestly speaking here when I first read the summary I realised it's not my piece of cake cause I am really picky when it comes to books Also I don't tolerate pathetic and obsessive behaviour no matter what the reason is .
I hear you asking "Then why were you that excited for the release ?"
My answer is ...." Duh guys !! That's Rose Mashal she'll find a way to make it perfect ... " Now that I have read the book I can assure you it's another level of perfection and it exceeded all my expectations ... It is really nothing short of a masterpiece
The way she builds your anticipation slowly that you don't feel it till you're literally high on the words
The way she glides smoothly between memories and current events is unbelievable
Your emotions are prisoners of her words ... You get angry , scared , happy , satisfied , frustrated and every other emotion you may or may not think of
How can she pinpoint the perfect page of the book for the revelation of every bit of information is a mystery to me... It is never too early and never too late always the perfect moment

I am never that captivated with a book unless I am reading a book with the name Rose Mahal or Dan Brown on the cover ... One may say their books don't have anything in common but I say one thing they have in common They're both unique you can never compare their words to anyone else's

Take Heart of Steel for example you can find love , hate , mystery, secrets , murder , blackmail , heartbreak and science fiction all mixed up together to offer you the perfect book which can't be replicated because simply there's one Rose Mashal in our universe
And the cherry on top she isn't just a good author she is a good person , too.

If you've never read a Rose B. Marshal book, you need to know one thing: she is a masterful storyteller!
Rose does it again with this new series, Heart of Steel. I quite honestly would not have picked this up to read if I was not a fan of her other works, because I'm not much of a sci-fi reader, but it was worth taking the chance! Once again Rose worked her magic and took me to places I couldn't have imagined.
There are a few things to note:
- Being science-fiction, this book doesn't take place in our time. Without spoiling it, you'll find out at the end that the justice system is new. I feel like this is vital to understanding why certain events unfold the way that they do. If you understand this is an alternate or future universe, it makes more sense. (Maybe this is a no-brainer, but as I said, I don't typically pick up this type of book, and I wanted to include this for other readers like me.)
- Penny is not someone who simply lost the love of her life- she lost the one thing that was her universe. She is a hyper-focused individual who is literally incapable of letting go. Nothing makes sense without Michael, and that's why she's so desperate to bring him back at any cost. (She reminds me a bit of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory- brilliant, kind, a bit socially awkward, and easily fixates on certain details while remaining oblivious to others.) Here is where Rose works her magic- I really related to Penny, and I saw her addiction as with each step it was never enough. Along with Penny I was at times terrified by MiDa13's existence, and at others completely forgot he wasn't really Michael.
- This book is a mystery! You'll be on the edge of your seat by the end! Penny's story is just getting started, so buckle up!
- There are a few grammatical errors and cultural confusion, but I'm sure as Rose continues working with a professional editor these will be ironed out. At the end of the day, the stories she tells are absolutely worth the read! Allow yourself to have an open mind, and be ready for an amazing journey!

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND READ THIS NEW BABY BY MY SIS ROSE ASAP! HEART OF STEEL IS SOOOO GOOD!
BUT OH MY GOSH THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM LOSING MY MIND! I NEEEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, ROSE! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER!
You guys phew! Sorry I got carried away but really the ending will make you lose your mind just like I've already lost mine.
Rose you've outdone yourself once again. It was AN AMAZING read! Loved every second of it. At first I was a little apprehensive about the "science and tech" part of it cuz I go through enough "science" stuff at my job but I am so so so glad I was wrong! It's refreshing actually! I loved the geekiness and passion that Penny has for love and her project. It's beautiful in a morbid way. How love has the power to consume everything.. your thoughts, your heart and your life. It's scary how she'd do anything for Michael. Anything.
I loved it, I loved it, I loved it! So proud of you Rose and your words are life. Congratulations on such a beautiful book.

This is my first sci-fi romance book; I suppose it what you would call this book. I just went with an author I have read for a couple years now and wow she not disappoint me. I have to say I love this story and it is the first of a trilogy so the is one hell of a cliffhanger. I mean there is Penny who has experienced so much pain you begin to question everything she’s doing and why. There is love just not what she is looking for. There’s friendship but it’s not enough. There’s like family but she needs more. Can she really reconstruct the life she had? The only way to find out is to push forward and make all their dreams a reality. There is a little technical terminology but it’s basic and moves the story alone nicely. It’s not overwhelming and confusing. A perfect medium and will make you think real hard about robots.
I absolutely love this book and can’t wait for the October for book two. Rose you suck me in every time you write. Every girl needs a little mystery, love, murder and a robotic man in our lives.

Different but amazing

Rose B. Mashal is back with an unusual story of loss, love, artificial intelligence and mystery. At times I felt uncomfortable in reading about how Penny tuned her robot and fell harder for him or how the robot created thoughts and memories of its own. How an it became a he. Then Rose being Rose twists the plot and all of a sudden I had no idea what is going on. She’s so very good at that as a writer. The story captured me, made me feel Penny’s loss in my guts, but also cheer for her and Ian. I can’t wait for book 2 in the series. According to Forrest Gump: Write, Rose baby, write!

Rose gave me the chance to read this great book with an ARC copy. I just have to say, I SHOULD HAVE READ IT SOONER! This isn't normally the type of book I would read, I read robot in the description and thought it wasn't for me. I was so wrong. This book was funny, emotional, thrilling, and mysterious. The relationship between Penny and Ian was interesting to see. I will definitely give the second book a read as soon as it is out. I need to know how this story continues. I have many questions!

I am not one to usually read science fiction type books, but darn am I glad I picked this one up.
The plot line was very unique and to be quite frank, unlike anything I've read before.
The creativity and though that went in to this story is quite amazing.
The characters are well developed and feel familiar in a very relatable way despite the un-familiar technology.
At it's heart, it is a love story, though a very unique one at that.
Give it a try - you won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

The build-up was pretty intense... I'm still
trying to figure out if it's Ian, but there's so
many reasons why it wouldn't be him, even
with Michael's memories, unless Michael
had it in him all along. There's other little tiny
hints that everyone around Penny is off, she just
hasn't noticed because she's so deeply into immersing
herself into Ian/Micheal that she can't see anything/anyone
else. That's what has got me super intrigued, and still thinking
about it hours afterwards.🤓🧐🤔

Lets just by starting with this is story is completely different from any other story I have ever read but I LOVED every minute of it.

This story has a woman named Penny, four years ago her and her fiance were involved in a bad accident, she recovered and he didnt and she hasnt been able to move on, she loves him so much that she just cant picture her life without him and with someone else.

Penny has been working on a secret project, robots that are human like and she has put everything into this project and while the other Professors know about this project as they are helping in building it, they dont know of everything else like the likleness and everything else that Penny planned to make a double of her lost fiance, as she wants him back in anyways she can have him.

This is a great story and I can not wait to read the next book.

I stepped out of my comfort zone reading a science fiction book, however it was a great experience. Rose has grabbed a hold of your emotions with the love lost between Penny and Michael where you can feel yourself justifying the reasons for her behaviours and actions after the accident. Your then into the up’s and downs of the plot, where you question what will happen next and also would I have done that? It was refreshing to read something different, where you are not reading this typical love story. And as always, Rose has finished the book on a cliff-hanger, where you will need to know what happens next. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I hope I'm wrong but I suspect I'm right. I think I know who done it.
Rosa B Marshal. I can't speak highly enough about her and her work. She rights beautifully and with depth and background.
This is the first book in a who done it. Set in an ArtificIal Intelligence world. She, the main character, creates a robot like her ex she loved. I jumped right in and couldn't put it down. I think there will be a twist in the tail. It puts in front of the reader moral dilemmas of how man could use A.I. for their own benefit.

Do if you haven't already look at her other work. The colour blind trilogy is simply stunning. Why they are not yet on audible I don't know.

Oh where do I begin? As a woman of science who has a soft-spot for Sci-fi, I loved it! The storyline although portrayed the age-old fear of man vs. machine, was refreshingly unique to have kept me going. With the subtlety she has used to add the suspense elements to what initially seemed like just a science fiction novel, Rose has deftly handled the medley of genres in her writing. My only complaint is it’s not October yet! So I have to wait months to get my hands on the next book! 😭

I was a bit skeptical about reading this book. It sounded a little strange with a Sci-Fi romance. As I got started, I became more and more fascinated by the book. It is so well written and you want more. Rose has the power to get me blown away by her books. She does the same with this one. Fortunately, more is on the way and I can't wait :-)

Pleasantly surprised by the story. It's not the kind of thing I usually read but Rose really captures the love Penny has for Michael. It's a bit of a slow start but the story really pulls you in and keeps you wondering. Can't wait for book 2!

Dirty, pathetic, disgusting

Author has the talent of creating a “murder she wrote” story. The story involves AI, Machine learning and robots. It has twists and makes readers immersed. But the story is dirty and the main character is pathetic. Cloning a human being as robot and having a sex relationship with the robot is disgusting. Besides treating the relationship between robots and human being as owner and servant is so out of date. With all the advanced science and technology, the author clings to USB thumb drive and physical cable, another example of out of date in the writing.

Decent story

SPOILER****Sadly, this book is a cliffhanger, and I am NOT a fan of such. Well written, good pacing, good character development, and a great concept. A little kitschey, sometimes sappy, but overall enjoyable. Unfortunately, with so many good reads available, I can't imagine myself buying the next installment(s?).
