I know exactly who Dario Malback is. I know everything about him. I know all of his dirty secrets and his evil deeds. He is more of a monster than my father ever was...because Dario just likes it.
He needs to go down for what he did. He needs to pay for his crimes and I’ve dreamt of this day for a long time. So when Matteaus asks me and Cross to hunt him down, I don’t hesitate to say yes. I want the man dead, the problem is…he’s Cross’s father. Deep down I know he doesn’t want his own father dead and I’ll do anything to spare him that pain. Now I must find a way to stop Dario without killing him. If I don’t, I may lose Cross forever.
And that would be the biggest problem ever because I kind of, sort of, accidentally fell in love with Cross.
To win, I’ll have to walk that fine line between good and evil…but a little bad never hurt anybody, right?
What did I like about this book?? The easier question to answer is what didn’t I like about this book. There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t like about it. I loved this book! I’m only sad that it had to end at the end of the book. I need more. I want more. I’m slightly obsessed.
This book begged to be written, Ophelia and Cross' story HAD to be told and it didn't disappoint.
In the beginning I wasn't on Team O. I didn't really trust her or know what her motives and intentions were. But as the story continued, her character started to grow and you realized that she was just a damaged girl that just needed to be loved and accepted. Don't say that to her face though because she will throat punch you. O is feisty, sassy and a complete badass. She not only will toe the line of good and evil, she will full on cross it if it means the good guys win. That's what makes her and Cross the perfect team. Speaking of Cross.... I didn't trust him either. All you really knew for sure was that he was completely dedicated to Ophelia and would do anything for her. In Wicked Hunt we get to see that there is so much more to his character as well. They really are made for each other.
This is my favorite quote from the book: "I don't know. I gotta go kill something." Ugh, he made me all feely on the inside and I didn't like it. Not for one second. Why'd he have to go and kick me in the feels? Damn it, I have walls and they are there for a reason.
I love all of Megan Montero's books but Wicked Hunt may be my new favorite!
This story is about my spirit animal Ophelia, and it does not disappoint. I just love this girl. She takes no prisoners and isn't afraid to speak her mind, she is one badass Queen, unless it involves Cross....then she is your typical teenage girl who is just as confused and insecure as anyone else. Once you start reading this, you will not be able to put it down. It's action packed and will keep you turning the pages until you get to the very end.

To win, I’ll have to walk that fine line between good and evil…but a little bad never hurt anybody, right? Once again, there are no words. When Ophelia was introduced in Witch Court at first, I wasn’t sure what to think of her; mixed feelings were mixed. It wasn’t long until she became one of my favorite characters. I started to like her more once I read Warlock Court. I wasn’t aware that Ophelia had a novella until recently, and I was excited for a chance to read it. I couldn’t wait to discover the magical world from Ophelia’s point of view. From the start, I was curious about Ophelia and Cross's relationship, Witch Hunt gave more in-depth about their relationship. At first, I wondered why she denied the attraction that she had for him, the reason why she kept pushing him away. When it was discovered that they were soul mates since they were 14 and took off, it made sense. Ophelia was scared that he would take off again. I did not get that feeling from Cross, and it was clear how much he loved Ophelia.
Cross. He was one of the characters that I didn’t get to know too much. Witch Hunt explained so much in this book. Cross is a good person. His father, Dario, was evil, yet he couldn’t find him to kill him because he was his father. Despite what his father did, he still loved him. I did wonder what they were going do if they couldn’t kill him. I loved that Ophelia came up with a plan to strip him of his powers but not kill him. Ophelia did so much for Cross, and I wish that she would stop trying to deny it. I know that he hurt her in the past, but that didn’t mean that he would do it again. I wondered how long it would take for her to give in. I was rooting for them. I was rooting for Ophelia to realize that the two of them belong with each other.
Witch Hunt was action-packed from the beginning until the end. There were few parts in the book that were a bit slow, but they picked up fast. I loved that the point of view went between Ophelia’s and Cross. Those points of view gave us a chance to get to learn more about each of the characters. After reading Witch Hunt , I wished that another book was from Ophelia’s perspective. You can’t help but love her. I love how fierce she is, and she doesn’t let anyone take advantage of her. Ophelia is not a person you want to mess with, but I would love to be friends with. I could not get enough of this book. This series, it’s not the one that I will be able to forget. I’m still thinking about what’s going to happen next.
Magical. A must-read.

What more can I say except WOW!!! Ophelia has been one of my very favorites since she joined the series in The Witch Court. From the beginning we knew there was some intense chemistry between her and Cross. In this book Cross and O go after Cross' dad with permission to take him out and I don't mean dinner. So we meet Cross' mom (who is no winner either) and learn more about his history with his parents. O makes me laugh with her sarcastic wit and Cross is really a sweetheart and is totally smitten with her. However, it took him long enough to figure it out. I didn't like that she gave him such hard time and couldn't understand why...until now. She had every right to feel that way. I had to laugh out loud when she sent the books back to Evermore for the library. Poor Matteaus, is his fountain ever gonna be safe? There is so much more to this novella, but if you read it for yourself you will not be disappointed! I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
This book features Ophelia and Cross. Cross is coming to terms that everyone wants to kill his dad, but he doesn't really want to. So Ophelia and Cross set out on an adventure to find a way to stop him with killing him Ophelia learns more about her birth mother, what she gave up for her. She is coming to terms with that. She finds a book from her mother, that will help Cross. Cross is trying to show Ophelia that he is serious about her, that there is no one else. Ophelia has to decide if she can trust him with her heart. They have a bond that no one knows about.
You will enjoy reading about these two characters, as they help build the series. The author hooks you as soon as you start reading. Already waiting on next book
I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my honest review
I'm not a big Ophelia fan but her and Cross grew on me during this book. I've gotten to see that there is more to them, read more of their backstory, and come to an understanding of why they do some of the things that they do. I understand now understand Cross' pursuit and Ophelia's reluctance/standoffishness/punishment inducing ways when it comes to Cross.
There is a lot of action throughout this book as expected when O and Cross are out and about. Actually the action begins as soon as you start reading the book.
My curiosity is peak as to what Maze has going on. I loved getting a glimpse of Astrid and Deacon. And I always get a little giggle and a little sympathetic when Matteaus pops up in a book. Poor Matteaus 😂
Megan has done a great job bringing more substance to these two characters!
This book was so good. Glad Cross & Ophelia finally got together. I love that they are showing off their soul mate marks. SPOILER ALERT; I can't imagine getting them at age 14. That is so young. It still doesn't justify how Cross treated her though. I think he got what he deserved when he had to wait for her to be ready to forgive him. In a way it was like he kept repeatedly cheating on her. The adventure in this one was great! I was glad to see Ophelia got some answers in this book as well about her past! Was totally shocked by Astrids extra curricular activities! Like totally mouth to floor shocked! Anyway can't wait for the next book & see how Beckett & Astrid heal their relationship.
Wicked Hunt (The Royals: Warlock Court Book 2.5 ~~ This novella delves into Ophelia’s backstory, revealing the layers behind her fierce exterior. Her dynamic with Cross is both intense and enlightening, offering a deeper understanding of their complex relationship. The narrative provides a fresh perspective on the events unfolding in the main series, enriching the overall storyline.
Ophelia’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination, making this a must-read for fans seeking a more comprehensive view of the Warlock Court universe. I absolutely loved this book and this series!! ❤️🔥🖤
This picks up right after book 2 in the series, and since this is from Cross and Ophelia’s pov we don’t see much of the fallout from Astrid’s discovery (although, boy howdy, is she pissed!). Cross and O have a soul mate bond that’s also up for grabs, and while they are on the hunt for Dario, more of their past is brought to light and it’s very absorbing.
Enjoyed their HEA, but was more interested in A & B’s story. If the cold shoulder Astrid is giving off is any indication, I can’t wait 😉
YASSS! We finally get Ophelia's story! Of course there's Cross. The hunt is on for Cross's Dad but he doesn't want to kill his own dad-understandable even though he's bad! I love Ophelia and her feisty personality and can literally pull anything out of her sleeve to save her and Cross from trouble. But shes also a teenager, and we get to see that in this book as well. I'm was so excited Megan wrote this!
5 Stars for a great book best of all you must changed editors because you spelled tilted right instead of titled. First book without an error awesome. The fact that Astrid is still so mad shoes how much she really learned. Instead of asking she taking revenge out on him. But this book made me truly like Cross so much more and trust him a little but better
I love that our Megan Montero gave us this wonderful look into Cross and Ophelia's mission. We finally get to see the in-depth relationship between the two, and some of their history. I love them as a couple, and I REALLY want to see them more in their own novel. If you read the Witch and Warlock Court books, this novella is a five star must read!
Very hard to put your books down. Enjoy the conflict with the Greek Gods. Soulmate wrist Mark's and not recognizing what it means is a new twist I've not seen before. Anxiously waiting for the next book
Wickedly thrilling, action packed and emotional adventure filled with dangerous and exciting charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Was a edge of your seat read from beginning to exciting end.
I really enjoyed this book, it gave me the chance to know and understand Ophelia and Cross much better and give a better inside taste to their history...Now I can see both in a totally different light!!!!
This book centers on Ophelia. I love seeing her point of view and knowing what she was thinking really explains a lot about her actions in the other books in the series. I love it when an author does that.
I so loved Ophelia and Cross's story in this book. We het ti learn a little more about each of them and their pasts. And watch how well they work together. Definitely need a whole lot more.
Another amazing book!! I loved being able to read Ophelia story I felt it answered a lot of questions and just made me love her even more as a character!
I loved reading about Ophelia and Cross aswel as the other warlocks in the series. It was great to finally get to read from Ophelias perspective. Love this whole series
Yessss! I love O almost more than the actual main characters. I loved this novel. I hope we get to continue to see O grow into herself now that she is free from the control of her evil father… maybe through the other novels in the series. Her and cross are such a great match!
There will be spoilers from books in both series: The Royals: The Witches Court and The Royals: The Warlock Court. Consider yourself warned.
We are introduced to Cross and Ophelia in The Royals: The Witches Court series. They are my favorite secondary non-couple couple in the series. Ophelia is my favorite secondary character of both courts so far. So to say that I was excited to read their story is an understatement. I went into this one expecting a lot. It blew my expectations out of the water, onto dry land in another continent! Dang! This was a fabulous novella- I have read it four times already, yes, it is that good.
Coming out of The Royals: The Witches Court, Ophelia had just help kill her own father. She knows the emotional toil that has taken on her. When Cross is tasked to do so by Matteaus, it was like fate was granting them permission to take out the big baddie without feeling guilt. Matteaus is an angel after all. Ophelia doesn’t want Cross to go through what she did- so she sets out to protect him. What we get is an action packed novella with just enough chemistry and tension thrown in that you get to the ending thinking that is all? When is the next time we get to see them again? I mean come on- they are fabulous together and we need more. We demand more, even if it is just in the supporting cast role again.
Ophelia is a bad ass half witch half warlock. She is full of sass, without a lot of peppiness or smiling. Most people take her as being well a witch, when the reality is she is so much more. Lots of people see her as evil, Cross sees her as perfect. He has always supported her. Where she goes, he follows. If she is in danger, he is typically right next to her in just as much danger. That is why he is perfect for her. The author has been hinting at something going on between these two for a long time. Cross has always flirted with Ophelia and she has almost always resisted him. They were like two objects that were being pushed towards each other and yet held back at the same time. So for several books now, I have wondered what has held her back.
Holy heck bat man is it big! So big that I did not see it coming! Then got teary eyed, then let them fall when I realized what had happened between them. Damn you, Cross! I could have shaken you! I wanted to shake you! I understand Ophelia even more now than ever before. She is still my favorite!
Moving on to Cross, as an heir to the warlock council, he has always had a lot of pressure on him. He has had the benefit of the other heirs being by his side through it all. Becket as his guy besite, Logan and Maze have helped him through the pain of having a heartless mom and an evil dad. They even support him with Ophelia. This makes him more grounded than others who had to rely only on themselves. He is powerful. He is an heir. He willing steps back so that Ophelia can shine in her element. Gotta love a man who supports his gal. Not once do I feel like the tries to stop her from one of her hair brain schemes. Probably because he knows it wouldn’t matter, and he trust that her solution will work its way out. I love how supportive he is of Ophelia.
For a novella this one packs an emotional punch! We learn about Ophelia’s mom, her birth mom. We see Astrid and Beckett- boy is he in hot water with her. So much so that I cannot wait for the next book to be released. If this one was any indication- Beck is in TROUBLE with a capital T. Astrid is pissed and ready for revenge. Ophelia is all for helping her, so why not? I like how their friendship is growing (Astrid and Ophelia’s). Ophelia needs a friend that is just for her and this just makes me so happy.
This one is action packed from beginning to end. The race to find Cross daddy is on, and Ophelia is taking no prisoners. She wants to prevent Cross from the pain of killing his dad. Which in itself says something.
So much is revealed, so many questions left to ask. Please write faster! I need to see Logan and Maze. I want to watch Astrid get her revenge. I want to see Beck grovel at her toes. Is Tilly okay? Do Ophelia and Cross take that step that they haven’t taken yet? I need back into the world of The Royals: Warlock Court now!
My Rating 5 out of 5 stars
Favorite Quote “Bet that was a kick in the psychic ego balls for you.”
Other People Astrid- female warlock heir Beckett- warlock heir, bestie to Cross Maze- one of the five founding bloodlines of the warlock court, physic
