The Alpha Team: Volumes 1 - 3

Rate this book
Looking for a thrilling and explosive read? Look no further than "The Alpha Team" trilogy, featuring three best-selling international spy thrillers at a dynamite price. Follow the elite tactical force known as The Alpha Team, composed of ex-CIA, ex-Delta Force, ex-FBI, and ex-SEALs, as they crisscross the globe foiling military coups, taking down drug smugglers, cyber terrorists, and extremists.

In "Operation Due Diligence," CIA Agent Alejandro Cardenas and his soul mate, investment banker Julia Muller, find themselves at the heart of hard-hitting action and intrigue as they work to shut down a Miami-based conglomerate secretly owned by the Cuban government, which has laundered the ill-gotten gains of a vast criminal empire involved in drug-smuggling, revolution for hire, and a massive assassination plot.

"Operation Black Swan" follows Alex and Julia as they settle into domestic bliss in post-9/11 United States, only to find themselves unwittingly caught up in an elaborate operation of insider trading, border infiltration, and espionage orchestrated by seemingly-disparate fringe groups - Islamic terrorists, a Cuban militant, and Chinese cyberterrorists.

In "Operation Raven - The Dead Have Secrets," ex-FBI Agent John Powers is on a special ops assignment in Prague when his past and present collide treacherously. His godson Ian undergoes hypnotherapy, revealing he was one of three US senators assassinated as part of an Iranian counterintelligence maneuver, with one of the assassins being none other than John Powers. John rushes to protect Ian and his mother, unraveling a conspiracy along the way.

This action-packed box set is a triple treat for fans of political action thrillers, including those by Brad Thor, James Rosone and Miranda Watson, Vince Flynn, and Robert Ludlum. Don't miss out on this explosive trilogy.

Excellent spy thrillers

Operation Due Diligence: A spy story set in Cuba. The story had plenty of tactical information used by spies and a little romance sprinkled on it, which kept the story fresh. The way the event of Cuba have been narrated, it almost seemed real as the author has intertwined the real events with his own story. Enjoyed it.
Operation Black Swan: A well researched story dealing with cyber-terrorism attack on US. While the spy story itself was enjoyable, special mention has to be made about Powers, who is ex-CIA and drives the story. The way Powers dealt with the situation made the story even more enjoyable.
Operation Raven” Another spy thriller heavily relying on action as Powers past and present collides when he is trying to save his loved ones.
Enjoyed all the three stories.

I really enjoy Owen Parr's stories. The characters are well-crafted, the stories are always interesting.
So why don't I give them five stars?
Because his misuse of grammar and punctuation is painful.
Sentences are often incomplete, with sentence fragments everywhere. Commas are so very often misused that after a while I just cringe and go on.
Capital and lower-case letters are often misused as well, making it difficult sometimes to follow the story. I find myself having to go back in the paragraph to understand what's going on.
When I encountered this in my first Parr book, I just figured that there were issues with editing that book. But when I found it in every book - yes, EVERY book - I didn't know what to make of it. I just decided that Owen Parr has the worst editors in the business.
There are times when sentence fragments are useful in developing the story. But there are limits, and Parr's books go beyond the limits.
I thought about giving his books one star, or two, but they really are great stories. All of them.
I'm actually looking forward to reading more Owen Parr books. I'd really like to read about more of the Alpha Team's exploits.
So they get four stars, and I hope for the best.
And if he wants another person to tackle fixing some of his grammar, I'd be happy to help.

Lots spy type action

Excellent reads. Had read Operation Due Diligence, but since included with this set, will do as one review. Operation Due Diligence, Operation Black Swan, Operation Raven are all political intrigue. Lots tactical info. Kept me wanting to continue reading instead of other stuff. While these were written few years ago, I can see all the intrigue going on now. Highly recommend.

A Must Read!

This was my intro to the author Owen Parr and I am hooked. Each volume builds on the previous one-although they can stand alone-and makes you want to keep reading! They are filled with international and domestic intrigue, spying, and yes, even a little romance. I’m a big fan of Delta Forces, CIA, FBI, cyber crimes, domestic terrorism, etc and this fit the bill. I highly recommend this series!

Awesome Books

I just finished the first three books in this series and they were excellent. The characters, the action and the overall storylines were compelling. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Interesting read

Didn't enjoy book one as much as the other two. The story line was better the longer I read. Not as good as others I have read like this but not bad.
