Christian The Diary of a Collection is a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's most influential fashion designers, Christian Lacroix, as he creates a new couture collection. Here we see for the first time, and at first hand, the entire creative process through which a fashion show is made - from Lacroix's sources of inspiration to the finished creations that make their way down the Paris runways. The genesis for this book came about when American Vogue approached Lacroix and asked him to prepare a scrapbook of his working methods for an upcoming couture collection in Paris. What started out as a magazine assignment quickly developed into a creative, personal journey for Lacroix as he began filling up scrapbook after scrapbook with Polaroids, handwritten notes, hand-drawn sketches, historical fashion references, and visual references cut out from magazines. A large selection from these scrapbook albums has now been collected in 128 pages of full-color plates with detailed commentary by Patrick Mauries.
Patrick Mauriès is a writer and publisher of many notable titles on fashion and design, including Jewelry by Chanel, A Cabinet of Rarities, The World According to Karl and Fashion Quotes to name a few, all published by Thames & Hudson.
This book was just beautiful with Pages directly out of the designer sketchbook through to the process of runway fashion. His own personal notes, his different drafts, all amazing. Inspirational.
