After a series of family arguments Mandy walked out and disappeared. For her family, it was devastating. Changing her name to Amanda and moving to a different part of the country, she begins a new life working in a hotel.
One evening a programme about missing people comes on the television. Her face fills the TV screen. Everything Mandy had tried to forget returns with new clarity. Will she have the courage to face the past and realise the misunderstanding was caused by her family's unique situation?
Finding Amanda is a story of courage and hope and a bond that never breaks.
Finding Amanda - This is my first read by this author and I like it. A quickly read, sweet short story perfect for a coffee break.
She ran away from home, did some stumbling about until she found her path in life. I like Mandy, she grew into an even more caring, but still naive, young woman. With a satisfying job and a possibly temporary love, she discovers her family is still searching for her after eight long years.
Misunderstandings are worked out with several surprises for all involved. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
I don't often read novellas but perhaps I should try them more often. This was a quick read for me - I finished it in two sittings and really enjoyed the tale of Amanda's past life coming back to haunt her. I was intrigued to find out what made her run away from home as a teenager, and keen to see how it all resolved itself. I enjoyed the little twist at the end to do with her current love interest and the Scottish location was beautifully done. All in all a joyful little story that can be read and digested anywhere at any time and sometimes in our busy lives, that is exactly what we need!
Finding Amanda is a good story about a young woman who leaves home after being involved in family arguments. Eight years later, they are still searching for her.
I really enjoyed this novella as it shows how the bond between family is always there despite their misunderstandings and differences. It also shows how Amanda's character grew into the woman she becomes.
I would like to read more books by this author. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
