Sentinels live a lonely life, always on the outside of the pack, looking in.
Thorn wants what other alphas have—a mate, cubs of his own—but it’ll never happen for him, not now. The more distant he feels from his pack, the more he wonders if he no longer belongs. Until he rescues a cub from a tree and finds himself reluctant guardian to a scared little boy.
Keeping his cub safe is all Daniel cares about. But with Harrison’s pack hunting them, he and Sammy are separated. When he finds him again, Sammy is in the home of an intimidating alpha. With freedom from Harrison finally within reach, Daniel has no choice but to bide his time until they can run once more.
Thorn should be going stir crazy with a strange omega and cub invading his home. Daniel is skittish and flighty, and the story of how he and Sammy were separated doesn’t ring true. But having them around eases the growing loneliness inside Thorn. There could be something more between them, if only he can convince Daniel to stay.
As Daniel grows closer to Thorn and sees how happy Sammy is in his new home, it gets harder and harder to run again. But as much as he wants to forget the horrors of his past, Harrison and his pack haven’t forgotten him.
Sentinel is a novel-length mpreg shifter romance, featuring a protective alpha, a brave omega, a cute, clingy cub, some difficult, angsty themes, and scenes not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen.
Claire Cullen is an author and aspiring baker. Since she was a toddler, she has loved making up stories. Getting them down on paper proved a challenge in the early years when her preferred medium was finger puppets. She moved on to pen and paper, and later to keyboards, and hasn't looked back since, except for occasional bouts of nostalgia.
I liked Thorn and Daniel together ... although I had some troubles with Daniel's decision not to trust Thorn. But it was well done how they worked on it
Thorn has me all 😍😍😍 and *swoony sigh* after reading this, because he is a perfect embodiment of what a good alpha should be. I just loved his patience, his caring and concern for, and his devotion to Daniel and his son, Sammy.
Daniel has had it super rough. Abducted, manipulated, abused, and just overall terrified, he manages to escape with his young son and finds his way to the Lost Pack. Thorn is the pack's Sentinel - meaning, he keeps watch over the territory and defends the pack, while maintaining some separation and distance from the pack itself. Although Thorn is usually a loner, Sammy forms an attachment to him right away, which means that Daniel must also be around the alpha.
Daniel has the wrong ideas of what an omega should be in a pack and for an alpha, but with plenty of patience and care from Thorn, Daniel is able to learn what omegas mean and how treasured they should be. Of course, Daniel's previous alpha and pack aren't going to let him get away, and Daniel worries over what might happen with his son and with Thorn's pack, who he has grown to care for as well.
I absolutely loved this slow burn, hurt/comfort, fated mates story. I think it's one of the best stories from this author I have read in some time (and that's saying a lot - because I really much love everything she writes!). I especially love how much it touched on the aftermath of what Daniel endured, and the recovery and therapy and process to find safety and happiness. Both Thorn and Daniel both have mental and emotional setbacks and their own ways to cope, and I love that they worked on things together to make their relationship even stronger.
Great writing, so much emotion between the two, and a great story. This is definitely a favorite of mine from her. I also think this story stands pretty well on its own for those who haven't read the first two books of the series, but of course you'd definitely get more enjoyment having read the previous books first.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Did anyone seriously still expect the third book to be better than the ones before? I didn’t :‘)
The criticisms are exactly the same as before, because everything is treated too superficially.
As always, the basic idea is exciting, albeit very cliché. Apart from volume one, everything was far too dramatic and too „it was clear that the Omegas always have to get out of these shitty situations“. There was simply no time taken to portray the development of feelings in a comprehensible and realistic way; but yeah, what’s the point in doing that if we can simply impregnate a highly traumatised person and then everything is fine. YAY. As always, at some point the military came in and everything was illogical and not realistic and utopian and just far-fetched.
But whatever, because in the end everyone was pregnant at some point. First four kids, then three and now two ... and they lived happily ever after blahblahblah
(DEUTSCH)
No sé.
Rating: 4 stars I am really enjoying this series. Each new book has been just as good as the one before. I really loved Thorn in this book. I really felt for him and his feeling of isolation from the rest of the pack. I loved the way he was with both Daniel and Sammy. Sammy especially. The two of them together just warmed my heart. I am really interested to see where the author takes the series from here. I’m really hoping we get more of Duke and Corin’s story soon. All in all a highly enjoyable addition to the series.
This book was on the fast track to 5 stars but then all the chapters after the big fight with Harrison dragged on forever. Wish the ending was tighter but overall worth the read
I like how the author introduces us to the story by showing us the emotional pain of the Omegas and the tranquility and patience of the Alpha when handling that burden of their partners. In each of the books we see quite serious problems and how the power of the pack helps heal every pain and wound that the past and present have left in these boys. The story of Danny and Thorn seems to me that it has been the crudest in terms of the emotional and physical scars that the Omega must overcome and heal and it makes it worse if we add the presence of Sammy. As always the herd was there giving their support and showing once again that together it is possible to overcome any problem that arises because they are a family and everyone is welcome and takes their place, regardless of where they come from. Although we have a hint at the end of Duke I would like to read their story and how they were able to overcome their problems with Cori and make Jack happy.
I have loved this trilogy although I hope it becomes a series if it writes the story of Duke.
In each book the herd teaches us their importance and how with the existence of them the world is much better.
This book is probably the best listen than the other two books because the story is extremely touching and that's why it gets 3.5 stars as an overall score. This is the story of Thorne, the Sentinel of his pack albeit a reluctant one, who also works as a firefighter, and during one his off-duty rounds gets a call about a leopard cub/shifter, hidden near the border side woods of his pack land. He brings the little shifter back to his pack home and discuss with his pack members what do about the situation. Its clear that the the little cub has gone through some sort of trauma and is too scared to shift back to his human form, so he clings (literally) to Thorne, and the Alpha can't think of anything to untangle himself from the little ones sharp paws. He can't leave the cub in the pack house, so he brings him back to his own house. The most beautiful parts of the story are these cute scenes where Thorne allows little Sammy to have his way with him, and does not mind taking over his personal space. Thorne is a lone wolf, who likes to keep his life the way it is, but Sammy slowly untangles the cords of the Alpha's heart and with the abrupt entry of Sammy's dad Daniel, Thorne's protective instincts start working in overdrive.
Daniel is running away from his own pack and his abusive Alpha, to protect himself and Sammy, but while the running away plan worked, the execution went haywire, and he lost his cub, while trying to hide him from his pack. When he finally discovers where Sammy is he is too scared to reveal their true identities, especially when he learns that Thorne is an Alpha/Sentinel who belongs to a pack. Its clear to Thorne that Daniel has suffered a painful relationship and his skittish behavior builds brings out the kind and patient side of the Alpha's and we have slow burn romance between the couple.
Even if there are many shifter romance that portray relationships between Alpha's and Omega's, there are very few that make you see certain facets of relationships. This story does touch upon it and its wonderful to learn how everyone is dealing with their challenges as individuals and later on as a couple and parent. Thorne and Daniel's story has more maturity and feels in it.
John Solo's narration is again quiet a good listen and even if we do not see too many variations of character voices, he still brings out the best moments in the story.
Sentinel is a book that evokes a myriad of emotions, especially if you’re invested in the characters from previous books. We’ve met Thorn before in the other Lost Pack books and he’s always be a little rough around the edges. Part of the Pack, but apart from the Pack. As a Sentinel, that’s his job, to stay in the background and assess the danger that may arise. Unfortunately, this also gives him the vantage point of seeing what his brothers have in their mates and what he is missing. He needs an omega to be the bridge between him and the rest of the Pack.
Enter Daniel. Daniel tugs at all the heartstrings. Having to leave his son and hope for his safety while dealing with his terribly abusive Alpha Harrison is no easy task. The abuse that Daniel has suffered at Harrison’s hand is horrific and I have no idea how he was still the loving, sweet and adorable omega he was after that. Thorn takes Daniel and Sammy in and forms a bond with him that alters Thorn’s life forever. Seeing these two come together brought a smile to my face for both of them. They both deserved some good for a change.
Through a series of events, Daniel ends up back with Harrison’s pack and it bugged me that Thorn, this smart military man, didn’t see what Daniel was doing: sacrificing himself for the safety of his son and Thorn’s pack. The scene where Daniel is begging Thorn to take care of his babies was gutting. Absolutely gutting. I felt for Daniel so much here because he didn’t think of himself, even after all he’d been through. I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug while simultaneously boxing Thorn’s ears. As with these books, of course Thorn pull his head out of his butt and sees the truth for what it is, but it’s pretty frustrating for a time.
Overall, I was very happy with the way this book turned out. Daniel, Thorn and their babies made a lovely family. The story arc here seemed to be complete for the series, but I’m truly hoping we get Zane’s story. He’s seems like the softest of the bunch and I am highly intrigued that he is a zebra shifter. I suppose time will tell.
On a completely unrelated noted, I am highly peeved that we didn’t get to learn Thorn’s real name. Brax’s real name was slipped into his story and I wish we would have gotten that with Thorn, rather than an explanation of his nickname.
This was interesting. I love the premise and the writing kept me entertained. I think the story got a little off the rails for my taste, but it was fun. I liked Thorn. He's a bit of a loner, but only because he's feeling lonely. He's strong and protective as well as thoughtful and kind. I liked Daniel, too. He's strong as well and he's a great dad. He's been through a lot and handling it as best he can. I liked Sammy, who was so sweet. The storyline of Daniel running away was exciting and kept me wanting to know what would happen next.
A few issues I had with the story include
Overall, I love the shifters, omegaverse, and storyline. It was a fun read.
Notes: 2/5 spice levels, omegaverse, stag/leopard shifter, pack, heat, abusive ex, single dad, survivor of abuse
My rating ended up being the same the amount of babies they each had. The first book was the best, and it just went downhill from there.
This was so disappointing. It’s pretty much the same as the last book with a more pathetic character.(a more annoying piglet type character) The author seems to like writing traumatized omegas who have no ability to make their own choices(or sensible ones) and need therapy but gives gets mates and babies instead. 🤦🏿
I get Daniel has had a lot happen to him but they probably should have gotten him to therapy before the last third of the book. While he was sweet, he was extremely insecure and just ran from everything. He finally stands up for himself to someone who doesn’t even really matter.
If someone can’t even enter your room without panic, you probably should mate them just saying. The basis of these relationships are toxic and unbelievable. The Alphas end up having to manage broken omegas, their chaotic lives while dealing with their own trauma(usually in a healthy way), and everything else. Thorn and Cole deserved better.
This is an excellent addition to The Lost Pack series and I loved it. Sentinel is well written, sweet, sexy, intense, has a lot of cute babies, there are some surprising twists, the world building is great and the characters are amazing. Daniel and Sammy are in extreme danger and Thorn is the perfect person to help them both. Thorn and Daniel are drawn to each other but Daniel has secrets which might destroy the little family they are building. They need to trust each other if they want to be together but Daniel's fears of being part of a pack make it difficult for him to believe that he is safe and loved. Thorn will do everything he can to protect Daniel and Sammy even after he learns the truth about their past. I love how supportive and caring the pack is and it's great to see how well the couples from the previous books are doing. The ending is perfect and I can't wait to read the next book in this wonderful series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. I guess I liked this book the best of the 3 so far. This is a continuation of the first two in the series (I like how all of the pack are constants in all of the books helping to cement the idea of them being family) and concentrates on Thorn, the one who in the previous books kept fighting with Cole, and Daniel, and escapee from a cult pack run by a psychotic alpha.
This book really showed how the fully shifter world they live in can be very unkind to omegas. There was no mention (like in the 2 previous books) how their pack had saved the world (I guess that was a thread that the author just kind of let fade away), but the aggressive military group that wanted their pack was once again present, although I did find it a little confusing as to how Brax's pack was able to negotiate with them.
Overall, though, the whole series was pretty quick to read (I read 2 and 3 the same day) but entertaining.
I sure hope so, but the arc seems pretty settled. I really enjoyed this one but had some definite questions with their sort of relationship with the military and other packs.
The first book made it seem like packs were ultra rare. The second made them seem more common but still pretty rare. This one though talked about a few different packs all kinda close together so that disparity was a bit irritating.
This story also seemed shorter than the others, it was still a good slow build romance but it almost felt like a wrap up book.
Daniel was in a bad bad place and him slowly opening up to thorn was heartwarming. I was so happy when thorn found someone of his own. He was always so peripheral which we get to understand better in this book as well.
All in all it was a great addition and maybe conclusion for this series. Enjoyable to the last word.
"Sentinel" is a solid continuation of the "Lost Pack" series, and is very much a hurt/comfort story and understated, low heat, slow burn romance. As omega Daniel and his young son Sammy escape an abusive pack and find shelter and safety with alpha Thorn and the Lost Pack, the threat of discovery and retaliation by his former pack looms large over Daniel through most of the story. With so much focus on Daniel and Sammy, it felt like we never really get to know Thorn other than on a somewhat surface level in being a protective alpha and compassionate partner and parent. Narrator John Solo really conveyed Daniel's vulnerability and emotional fragility in delivering another terrific performance in this series. I do hope this series continues, as there is plenty more to explore in this interesting shifter world author Claire Cullen has created.
I’ve really enjoyed this series all of which I’ve ‘read’ by audiobooks.
This one was particularly touching with a tough, solitary sentinel in the pack rescuing a leopard cub from a tree. He and his omega father were both traumatised and their stories were so sad I felt anger at their treatment by their former Alpha and such admiration for the great courage Daniel showed in saving his son.
The story progressed so beautifully with Thorn’s taking in of the little boy and gaining his trust and love and then doing the same for his father.
Much more happened and the writing had me fully involved in the story of Thorn’s little family and their troubles until they found their hea.
A lovely series with plenty of action and story of a group of ex military building a pack which became a sanctuary and home for omegas and children. Highly recommended.
No sé.
This third book is Thorns. He is a sentinel and on the edge of the pack, he’s also a firefighter and lonely. On the way home one morning he’s stopped to rescue a cat from a tree, turns out that is an omega cub, Sammy. Sammy is scared and traumatized and all alone, and has latched onto Thorn. Thorn slowly coaxes him out of his shell, when an omega shows up looking for Sammy. Daniel has been trying to escape his pack for a long time, running over and over. This time he feels he’s finally gotten away but he got separated from his son while running. When he finally finds Sammy, Sammy is thriving and happy and he can’t seem to force himself to run, even if he is afraid his ex and the pack will find him. These two are sweet together and Thorn and Sammy are adorable together. Lots of drama in this one. Slow burn.
I didn't exactly feel bowled over by the first, kinda skimmed through the second, but this one was ok. I think what I liked the most was the relationship between Thorn and Sammy - however, I wish at some point we got Thorn's actual name since he clearly said that was his nickname. Seemed odd for someone to mate him without knowing that, or even his last name. Just saying. I wasn't truly a fan of Daniel having such a long list of insecurities, that to me gets tedious, especially when the other character has to basically walk on eggshells because of it. Not something I look for in a book. Will I read the next one ? Meh, if I have time to kill probably.
I like Clair Cullen's way of writing alpha/omega relationships. They are sweet, easy reads usually featuring some h/c which I'm a sucker for. This is the 4th book I've read by her and it did not disappoint.
I loved the premise and the way it started. Come on, the kitten in the tree! That was so adorable. I love Sammy ❤
There were a few parts that I found a bit slow and I didnt find thorn to be a very strong character in that he didnt seem to have much backstory or personality (maybe it was covered in one of the previous books in the series?) Also, coming in blind I was a bit confused about why every pack was made up of military shifters. Guess I should have read the other books in the series first. 😅
Either way, great book. I'll be going back to read the first two.
Book #3. This amazing journey is for Thorn and Daniel. Thorn is the former Military, Alpha Sentinel of the pack. Daniel is an Omega, on the run with his cub. This story melted my heart from the moment Thorn laid eyes on young Sammy. Daniel a worn out soul with no hope knew he had to get his young son free. This is a journey that is full of lies and half truths regarding this Omega. This is the journey that it takes to break free from terror. I loved this book. It shows the strength that trust can give you. CLAIRE CULLEN always gives my heart hope that any situation can be turned around. Thorn and Daniel have a beautiful story. Sammy is the icing on the cake. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AMAZING BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE SERIES!!!!!!
So lovely. Although Cole and Josh's story will always be my favourite, this third book was so good. Romantic and sweet and angsty and much more tough than any of previous ones, because of what Daniel and Sammy were put through. I adored both Daniel and Thorn and how well they fit together: Daniel was a sweetheart in desperate need of safety and love; Thorn was so protective and patient and respectful. And I was an absolute sucker for their own little found family: how they were with Sammy gave me so many damn feels. I think I might have found one of my new favourite omegaverse authors: I adored the balance between sweet and angsty of this series. I'll definitely be reading the next trilogy, "The Lone Pack" and possibly, the whole of Claire Cullen's extensive backlist. I can't wait.
I never really thought about how the last single alpha would feel. Thorn is that alpha and a sentinel so he is on the outer edge of the pack thinking there is no place for him in the midst of all the children and babies. From the moment Thorn meets a leopard cub his life changes. Daniel is running away from an abusive pack alpha and hides his son so that the abusive alpha can’t get to him. It’s really a desperate try to get out of a “pack” that abuses him. He is forced to hide his son and try to lead the pack alpha away from his sone. There is more drama with the other pack and desperate measure to keep the pack safe. MPreg
Panicked an omega running for his life trying to protect his child. An alpha out of sorts in his pack. The alpha rescues a cub up in a tree and suddenly the little one firmly attached to him. What does he do now? Takes him home of course. The terrified omega desperately searching for his baby boy tracks him to the alpha's home. What to do? How together the baby back without getting caught? Everything goes up and down from there. A home, a true pack, a mate, and a family...could this all be possible? This series tells it all. Great read and lots of life lessons for all, even a few naughty bits to add some spice.

The main characters in this book had the same issues as the previous one. They also had some of the same personality issues. They're very similar. Fortunately this book had a bit more plot, especially towards the end, which improved my opinion of it overall.
The concept of a Sentinel wasn't explored at all, and the character didn't fit the role either. It kind of felt like the author didn't even make up the story, but was writing what they were told to write. It's weird. I would have expected the character to display overt interest in being alone, maybe even some autistic characteristics. His current character didn't make sense in the role.

I loved this! It was so lovely to read Thorn, Daniels and Sammys story!! I love how a lot of issues were addressed realistically and I love how Thorn loves Daniel. The editing was great. Everything was understandable and easy to follow. This is a great development to the series and I love how the pack is using Greggs to solve issues, you have to protect what’s yours. It’s funny how even as they “give him what he wants” they still have the upper hand. Looking forward to the next installment! Great job Author!!
