"Once upon a time..." ...my best childhood nights had started with this wonderful phrase!
Ever since I can remember, I loved a good story!
All started thanks to my beloved grandfather! He used to read to my sister and me, stories of mighty princes and horrifying dragons! Even now, sometimes I miss those cold winters in front of the fireplace in my hometown, Texas!
My best stories though were the ones from the Bible! Such is the spiritual connection that a cozy warm pass through my body every time I hear a biblical story!
My childhood memories were not all roses, but I always knew that the strongest shelter would be always there for me! It was Him!
Years passed by, and little-Chloe grown up reading all kind of stories! It was no surprise that I had this urge to write my own stories, and share them with the word!
If I have a God's purpose on Earth, I think it is to spread His love and wisdom, through my stories!
My review today is on the Christian Historical Romance, Rescuing Her Repentant Outlaw. This book was sent to me to read, the review is in my own words. This book is different as almost all of the characters are outlaws but it turn out right. The story is well written and full of twists and turns. I know you are going to love it.
Chase Burnette and his twin brother Victor are outlaws. The story starts when they rob a stagecoach and make $10,000 plus bags of gold nuggets. Chase wants to quit, go to Mexico, and buy a ranch. Victor talks him out of that and they go to Albuquerque. There they barely escape the law and Chase is shot. Victor leaves him for dead. He takes all the money, food, and supplies. Chase makes it onto his horse and takes off across the desert. He prays for God's help. He wakes up to the face of an angel.
Margarita Montoya lives in the small town of Plaxico. She works in a bar and has no hope for a future. Her brother, Mateo is the head of the gang Lobos Rojos, a gang of thieves and murders. She and her brother find Chase on the desert floor. He is almost dead. Mateo removes the bullet and Margarita nurses him to health. Only to have him arrested during a church service for breaking outlaws out of jail. He had been in bed dying but the law men didn't care.
A journey of two broken souls trying to survive law officers, demons, the Lobos Rojos gang, and the Mescaleros, Indian boys gang all trying to kill them. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.

It's a action-packed rollercoaster ride full of twist and turns that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. Each and every character came to life with an incredibly strong plot you will find yourself drawn into their story. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. Victor blonde hair, blue eyed devil-may-care brother who enjoys the life that he lives, Chase blonde hair, blue eyed wants nothing but to get out of the life of robbing and settle down on his own ranch. But life doesn't happen how you want sometimes. Chase badly shot by a sheriff is left in desert to die by his brother. What happens, will take both, on a non-stop adventure with one group of banderalos, a band of mescaleros apaches, sheriff's posse, and one of Miss Flossie's girls. Margarita a shy naive young woman finds Chase half-dead and nurses him back to life. Chase and Margarita are so well developed you feel every emotion that they are feeling throughout their story and they become very endearing as the story progresses. With sweet romance, trials and tribulations, hope, heartbreak, outlaws, and faith makes this one outstanding read that you won't want to miss. Chloe Carley has written one heart stopping novel that kept me turning the pages to the very end! I can't wait for Victor's story to see the road he travels down!
This Author is an excellent storyteller. I enjoyed this book thoroughly. From the moment you begin reading until the finish and into the extended story my interest was held. Based on the storyline I feel she got her inspiration for the book is Matthew 8 where Jesus heals a young man who is possessed by Devils and Jesus allows them to go into swine after which the swine ran over a cliff into the sea and were killed. In the book there is a woman named Maria tells people's future by using a tarot type of cards. There is a scene in the book where devils associated with the cards try to terrorize a couple of the Mescalero that had come into the town to do harm. Also, they terrorize Chase whose is able to subdue the devils by calling on the name of Jesus. Then when he tries to destroy the cards they attempt to stop that. However even with all of that, the book is really about forgiveness. Not only is it about forgiving others; but by forgiving oneself. It is also about paying restitution and doing everything one can to make things right. I loved the characters in the book. I thought they were very well developed. The main characters were Margarita and Chase. There were lots of twists and turns and the pace of the book as it moved through the story was very good and entertaining. There is no profanity and no explicit sexual dialogue. I highly recommend the book. It is just good storytelling.
ONE RIVETING EXPERIENCE!!! Leaping lizards! Chloe presents yet another prize winning, block buster, pegging the thrills and stunning spins, striking the match, lighting the fuse and blowing this baby asunder, tossing it into the eye of the storm, thrusting it into a tailspin with an astonishing culmination. A raging tempest of surprising events and daunting circumstances, takes you on one wild rollercoaster ride. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, dastardly deeds, danger and suspense soars as tension spirals, blowing this baby wide open. Add distress and turmoil along with a boatload of trouble, blasting this little fella to life spectacularly. Blundering through the trials and tribulations, along with stunning twists, sleek turns and crisp lines, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable bond and amplifying affections, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are authentic and genuine with depth and qualities that transforms into outstanding personalities. The scenes are so abundantly descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there standing in the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job Chloe, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
I am 85 years of age. I live in South America. For obvious reasons I do not normally read romance novels and usually avoid any book written since 1960 because most new fiction is disgustingly full of profanity, sex and modern day violence. I have read all the classic westerns and while sort of desperately looking for another western came across one of Chloe Carley’s books. I did not really expect to like it. Well now I have read a bunch of them and become a follower. I don’t really fully understand this, but I suspect it is due especially to the clear and unashamed Christian message that each of her books contains. I have urged that her books be made available in Spanish too as they would be a blessing to many folks down here. Keep it up Miss Chloe.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Chloe Carley, and this is my voluntary and honest review. Every book by this author that I read gets better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed this book about twin brothers, Victor and Chase, who were stagecoach bandits. Chase wanted to give up that life and become a rancher with a wife and children, but Victor was evil and left Chase in the desert with a gunshot wound and nothing but his horse. With God's help, Chase was rescued by a girl, Margarita, in a small Mexican town. That was the start of his salvation that led him to healing not only his body but his soul. The book was action from beginning to end and the extended epilogue was a grand finish. I highly recommend this book. You will have to read the book to find out if Chase gets his dream and what becomes of Victor.
Chase and Victor were nearly identical twins - but their facial features were reversed. As they grew to adulthood, they started lives of crime. They wanted more money and gold than they could earn, so they began to plan and carry out hold-ups. They robbed people, trains, anything where they felt sure that they could ride away with a lot of money. Teaming up with gangs, they learned of rock outcroppings where they could hide in caves. The caves were large enough to shelter their horses in so there were no signs that they were hiding out.
There was the problem that the other outlaws were jealous that they were so successful however. The brothers and the gangs were going for the same targets and they got in each other's way.
Read to find out who committed crimes, who got blamed, and who ended up with the money or gold.
3 stars Disappointing I purchased a copy of the clean romance Rescuing Her Repentant Outlaw: A Christian Historical Romance Novel by Chloe Carley and this review was given freely. Set in the time of stage coaches in the Old West/New Mexico USA this full length novel focuses heavily on the life and personalities of multiple outlaws, warring bandit bands, corrupt lawmen and the Mescalero Apaches and thus is very violent, dark and at times morbid. The Christian message of redemption and touches of irony are overshadowed by the violence. Left for dead after helping his twin brother Victor escape the law, Chase is saved by Margarita Montoya and her brother Mateo the leader of the bandits Lobos Rojos only to be brutally injured and arrested for his brother's crimes.
This is a Christian story of twin brothers, bandits in the 1800’s. One was more ruthless than the other, but both were criminals. After almost being caught, the ruthless brother took everything and left his twin for dead out in the desert. That’s where the story really begins.
I enjoy Chloe’s writing. It flows, and is also edited well. It’s a good storyline with wonderful characters. If you like Christian historical westerns, I believe you’ll enjoy it.
On a personal note, I’m sad that the author has opted to join others in the practice of manipulating readers into giving their email address to read the entire story. It’s not right.
What can you say?! Another excellent book by Chloe Carley. I was on pins and needles trying to figure out how this romance could possibly work out without a few of them in jail or dead. I just couldn't see it happening, but the author penned it to a great conclusion with a HEA. A definite "hard to put down" story that kept me riveted once I started reading. Great characters all around; the good, the bad and those in the sidelines. A clean romance with mystery, intrigue and suspense that was astounding! Beautiful portrayals of God's Goodness, Grace and Mercy despite human intervention. A must read!
I received an ARC copy. This is my voluntary and honest review. VICKI FROM WYOMING
This was a great Christian book to read and understand how to keep the Lord in your thoughts and prayers as you are going about your life. This was a story of outlaws and what they did as gang members and the trouble they got into. The book tells a tale of love deceit and forgiveness. This is a book worth reading and recognizing how people can get into danger and how they can redeem themselves as well. This was a free read and another good one. This is my review and mine alone. Rescuing Her Repentant Outlaw had an interesting concept but did not feel very realistic to me. Chase and Victor are twin brothers who are bandits. Chase changes his life after he is shot and left for dead. Margarita nurses Chase back to health and, of course, falls in love with the only young man she has ever met in the New Mexico desert where she lives. Margarita's brother Mateo is the leader of a group of bandits. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Rescuing Her Repentant Outlaw by Chloe Carley was entertaining and unpredictable with everyone killing and robbing. Chase had recently given himself to God while Margarita was looking for someone that looked good and wasn’t into crime. It was interesting reading how Mateo had changed before his death and the struggles every one experienced together.
This is a story of identical twin brothers. They were outlaws and when Chase is shot, Victor takes all the money, food, and water and leaves him to DoD alone in the desert. Chase was found by Margaretia and her outlaw brother. They patched Chase up, and the story continues with many surprises. It is heart wrenching at times, a very emotional read.
I like Margarita and Loco so much; neither of them really takes nonsense from anyone. As in no one. At all. Not even a leader or an older sibling, or beaten up cowboy/outlaw. Loco is so straight forward with Diablo about his vision about Chase, and then with Chase about the evil spirit of hate that ironically has to resemble a wolf. Like the wolf that Victor saved Chase from when they were children.
I liked how different sibling dynamics there portrayed in this story. I also loved the fact that there was a lot of God’s influence on people seeking a peaceful, better life. It was nice too how a love story could blossom and how they could triumph over the heartbreak of what their siblings turned out to be.
How to gain respectability when life brings involvement with crime and outlaws? How to bring these people to a belief in God? These questions are answered in in this action packed mystery. A book of love for family and a desire for family. Love Chloe Carley's books.
