Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

Such a fun read! It felt like I was watching the movie again, although minus the songs (which I missed)...I guess that made it a little bit of a flat read and not as enjoyable as the movie was. :/

Upped it from 2 to 3 stars :p Cute little read, and although Sharpay annoyed me constantly and Troy annoyed me a little of the time, I like the memory refresher :)

As much as I hate to say this I read this book and liked it. MAN!! In general I really read the book and bought it for 4 reasons only. One, being that I am a fan of the High School Musical series. Two, HSM2 is my favorite one from the whole series cause I like most of the songs in it. Three, I wanted to know what was really going through the mind of certain characters. and four, it was on sale for $2.50.

I will have to say my favorite character from the movies is Gabriella Montez but in the book I really enjoyed the parts of Taylor McKessie. When Troy was being a suckish boyfriend Taylor tries to point out the signs to Gabriella , yet is there to help reunite Troy and Gabriella. My least favorite character in the books are Troy and Sharpay. It seems as if Troy was completely blowing off Gabriella who happens to be his girlfriend and spends more time with anothe rgirl and her family. When he knew himself what he was doing with the Evans family is what a boyfriend should be doing. Also it seems like he was just using Sharpay her family for the shcolarship. Sharpay on the other hand doesn't care. All she wants is Troy and seems like she will do anything to get him. Even if it means hurting others. Selfish, I know.

I will have to say that the book is really short. I finished it in one day when in total it was bout an hour. It most likely would've taken me 30 minutes if I wasn't so ditrsacted by classmates at the time. I will have to say it was worth it. Just reading the book remeinded me of the day the movi ecame out and how excited I was. Yeah, I remember knowing a number of songs by heart by the time of the premiere and singing along to it. But I think the saddest thing that came to my mind while reading was how I didn't really understand the character sand where they were going at until, early 2009 and it came out the summer of 2007.

High School Musical 2 - The book of the film is really bad. The book is just one long summary of the movie, but where all the songs, and all the things that makes High School Musical 2 good, is not in the book.
The book is missing the spark that the movie has, and the spark is the reason that the movie is amazing and the book is just bad.

Summer is finally here and the wildcats are excited for an amazing summer. But for Troy and his basketball gang, Gabriella and Taylor, they are going to Ryan and Sharpay's country club to earn money. Once they start working, everything goes wrong. Gabriella wanted a summer to remember with Troy but it isn't going the way she planned. Sharpay doesn't even care that Troy and Gabriella was suppose to perform together, she wants the spotlight only on her and Troy. When Troy's friends and Gabriella stops talking to him because of what Sharpay is doing, everything goes wrong. When Gabriella leaves the country club, Troy soon realizes everything he has done wrong.

I picked up this book because I love High School Musical. All the romance and everything in it is very exciting. I have watched the movie so many times but I was still interested in the differences that the book and the movie had so I read this book.

I finished this book because as I said before, I wanted to see the differences between the movie and the book so I finished it and I love reading it because it makes me happy because of everything that goes on in this book.

I would recommend this book to teenagers because this is what usually goes on and it teaches a lesson that friends are very important and they are people you must have in your life.

I liked high school musical back then and it was good and it was when school was over and time for summer job opportunities and one of them is going to Sharpay and Ryan's place of vacation and their father own a Country Club and most of the High school applied for it. Sharpay's plan was to get Troy Bolton out of the high school group closer to her like girlfriend and boyfriend plus joining the family of Sharpay and Ryan and it worked. At the end Gabriella faced Sharpay that Troy is with them and later on in the book Sharpay starts to feel bad about herself so agve back Troy to them, got their trust, and gave one of her talent show trophies to Ryan because earlier in the book he wish he had one and never felt that important and proud to have one. So at the end they all sang of a great summer and having new friend salong the way.

N.B. rules the High School Muscial movie novel world. I'm not sure that is a literary accomplishment, but it must count for something. I love the High School Musical movie novels, but as the most ridiculous of the HSM films it is my least favorite. Fun fact: It took them six days (almost a fifth of their 30 day shooting schedule) to film the Bet On It sequence. It makes me feel so much better about my life when I realize that Zac Efron spent six days prancing around a golf course.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL was great! I love all the characters they all have different personalty. At East High the final bell rings signaling the beginning of summer vacation, and the students converge in song ("What Time Is It"). As a symbol of his feelings for her, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) gives Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) a necklace with his initial "T" on it. The Wildcats then sing one last chorus of "What Time Is It" outside of the school. I don't want to give all the details for those who didn't read the book as yet . But overall this book is good!

It is about Troy(Zac),Gabrialla(Vanessa),Sharpay(Ashely),Ryan(Lucas) and the wildcats. The wildcats are spending summer working at sharpays family resort which is totally tiring. The resort is having its annual talent show and Sharpay has her ways of making Troy join her in the show.Sharpays doing ends up in Troy losing his friends. The story is with alot of nice ups and downs. It will be better if you watch the movie though because the movie shows all the dance and song.

Totally biased review because I loved the HSM movies as a kid, and remembered that I had this book when deciding to read for BTAT18. There are definitely things that could have been improved:
a) it seemed to me like they were trying to get rid of every hint we got towards Ryan's sexuality to almost cover it up by having a possible love relationship with Gabriella.
b) for the 'Huma huma' song reference, it was huma huma nuka nuka in the movies, not huma huma waka waka.

I'm not a fan of the movie or book. But, I do have to say, whoever wrote this did a good job. This is nothing like the movie, which I have. I used to like the series of books and movies, but now... I just don't. I would recommend this book to people in 2nd grade or even 4th. I just don't like the series of books and movies. I also read Crunch Time, another book in the series.
