வரலாறை அவ்வளவு சுவாரசியமாக சொல்ல மதனால் மட்டும் தான் முடியும்.முதல் "ஆதிமனிதன்" ஒரு பெண் என்பது விஞ்ஞானபூர்வமான உண்மை. இதுதான் இந்த புத்தகத்தின் முதல் வரி. ஆதாரம் : மூன்று லட்சம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் அவள் விட்டு சென்ற காலடித்தடம் மற்றும் மைட்டோ காண்ட்ரியல் டி.என்.எ.(Mitochondrial DNA). முதல் ஆதி மனிதர்களில் பலவகையான மனிதர்கள் இருந்தார்கள் என்றும் அவை எல்லாம் அழிந்து மீதம் இருந்த இரண்டே இனம் நியண்டர்தால் மற்றும் க்ரோமேக்னன் மட்டும்தான். இதில் க்ரோமேக்னன் என்னும் இன்றைய மனிதர்களாகிய நம்மால் அழிக்கப்பட்டது நியண்டர்தால் இனம் என்று வரும்பொழுது எரிகிற ஆர்வத்தீயில் எண்ணையை ஊற்றுவது போல் ஆகிறது.
இப்படி பல வரலாற்று நிகழ்வுகள் அடுத்தடுத்து அடுக்கிவைத்து ஆச்சர்யத்தின் உச்சிகே நம்மை கொண்டுபோகிறார் மதன்.

உலகில் முதலில் தோன்றியது பெண். அதாவது, ஆதாம் அல்ல "ஏவாள்' தான் என்கிறார் மதன். விஞ்ஞான அடிப்படையில் அதை உறுதியாகக் கூறிவிட்டு, "அட, சக்தி இல்லையேல் சிவம் இல்லை என்பது உண்மைதான்!' என "லோக்கல்' ஆக சந்தோஷப்பட வைக்கிறார். உலகம் தோன்றியது, மனிதன் பிறந்தது, நாகரிகங்கள் உண்டானது, மதங்கள் வளர்ந்தது, போர்கள் உண்டது என வரலாறு தெரிந்து கொள்ளலாம். இன்னொரு சிறப்பு, இதையெல்லாம் சரித்திரப் பாடங்கள் போல போரடிக்காமல் மதன் ஸ்டைலில் படுஜாலியாகவே ருசிக்கலாம்!

தமிழர்களின் அறிவியல் தேடலைச் சிதைக்க வந்த தேவையில்லாத ஆணி. மனித வரலாற்றைச் சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்கிறேன் என்னும் பெயரில் தப்பும் தவறுமான பல செய்திகளை வாசகர்களின் மனதில் பதிய வைத்திருக்கிறார்.
Richard Dawkins, Jared Diamond போன்ற எழுத்தாளர்களை அரைகுறையாகப் படித்துவிட்டு 10 நிமிடத்தில் நூல் சுருக்கம் தரும் காணொளிகளில் இருக்கும் அறிவியல் அடிப்படை கூட இந்த நூலில் இல்லை.
இந்த நூலுக்குப் பலர் எழுதிய விமர்சனத்தைப் பார்த்ததும் எனக்கு நெஞ்சில் இடியே விழுந்துவிட்டது. மொத்தத்தில் ‘ஆதிமனிதன் ஒரு பெண்’ என்ற புரிதல் தான் படித்தவர்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்டிருக்கிறது. ‘பரிணாம வளர்ச்சி கோட்பாட்டில் மண்ணு விழ’ என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டு நகர வேண்டி இருக்கிறது.
அறிவியலைச் சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்ல முயல்வதில் தவறில்லை, ஆனால் அறிவியல் உண்மைகளையும் கோட்பாடுகளையுமே மக்கள் தவறாகப் புரிந்து கொள்கிற அளவில் சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்லக் கூடாது.
தான் எழுதுகிற அறிவியல் துறையில் எந்தத் தேர்ச்சியும் பெறாமல், தேர்ச்சி பெற எந்த முயற்சியும் செய்யாமல், எழுதியதைத் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்களைக் கொண்டு சரி பார்க்காமல் நூல் வெளியிடும் பத்திரிக்கை துறையினர் மீது எனக்குப் பெரும் வெறுப்புண்டு.

Read this, if u are curious and ever thought to get answers for these questions?
or wondered why very often we use many words in English evolved from greek? Do u know the reason for the naming of Police? Why do medical students take HIPPOCRATIC oath during their convocation? Why MARATHON race is called so? Why Socrates was given poison and he willingly accept it? Why Mauryas are always remembered by greatest ever dynasty of Indian Kingdom and what is the role of Chandragupta Maurya in it? We all ud have learned and pointed countries in map? But do ever our geography teacher or history teacher told us how continents were formed and map came into existence?
Above all do u believe our earth was formed 2.5 billion years ago..and know how evolution of man started??? Wonderful book to read and understand in simple tamil language...my only suggestion is this ud have been bbetter if more emphasis was laid also on Ki-Pi which is missing as per the title! Thanks RGK for suggesting this book to me...

Book starts off with the beginning of time. The writer Madhan emphasizes that first man on earth is not a man but it’s a woman from Africa. That’s an interesting fact.
Book touches on various empires throughout the time that shaped up the culture of the earth that we live including the great Persian Empire and Greek Empire. But the book misses so much on Roman Empire that has played the key role in the human revolution.
Books wraps up after covering up about “Maurya Empire” and how they defended India from Greek occupation and repelled them back out of India.
Another interesting fact is that even in ancient Indian Empires (Including Chola Empire of Tamil Nadu) used Greek soldiers in their army as well as to defend their cities.
Often you’ll encounter English words like “Wow” in a Tamil book which is not something I like.
All in all a good read and a must read if you are someone who passionate about the History and Time.

The book opens with an acknowledgement from the author that makes things clear about his non-expertise in the subject. It starts from the origin of life and ends with the birth of Christ, it made me doubt about the title referring to both BCE and CE, yet the book confines itself only to the fewest of very significant historical events that occurred in the BCE. This is a very concise version of an already compressed world history written in an engaging tamil. Perhaps one with no intention to learn anything serious but only wants to blurt out some cool historical stuff or something in a conversation can go for this.

An interesting book, written by Madhan, in a very interesting language! Written in 190 pages, Ki.Mu Ki.Pi talks about the history of mankind. This book is a lot of things in one, filled with amazing stories and facts.

'கி.மு கி.பி' என்று புத்தகம் பெயர் கொண்டிருந்தாலும் இது விவரிப்பது கி.மு மட்டுமே. ஒரு வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகம் படிக்கும் களைப்பு சிறிதும் இல்லாமல் படிக்க முடிந்தது. காரணம் - மதன் . கார்ட்டூன் போலவே , படிப்பவர் ஆர்வத்தைக் இறுதி வரையில் தக்கவைக்கிறார்.

To make it short and sweet , it was a time travel. The history before the birth of Christ is very well redefined in an elegant manner, which would attract the attention of even the history haters in deed. As it started from the birth of the first homo sapien, there were many new facts which knocked my mind and put me in awe.
Which is the first gender in the earth ? Female. Is our fore fathers are monkeys ? Did the human sapien lived in the era of dinosaurs ? Who is the first eve ? Is that Lilith ? What did pharoah in Egyptian civilization did ? Why mummies ? Is the Babylonian civilization mother of all other civilization ? How did 360 degree evolved from Babylonians ? What were Indians doing that time ? Indus Valley civilization among Harappa and mohenjadaro people ?
How would the world be with out any division in the landscape ? Yes , it was there. 15000 years back the world was not divided with seas. 12000 years back the temperature went high and ice got melted , which resulted in flowing of rivers and sea Barriers between continents.
The gist of philosophers Socrates, Plato , Aristotle and his disciple Alexander was lucidly pictured. The evolution of mauryan empire by Chandragupta Maurya ( Whose philosopher Chanakya ) , followed by his successors bindhu Sara , Asoka and his lineage.
Madhan is an excellent story teller. Some times his lucidity would out the readers with goose bumps.

ஆதி மனிதன் முதல் மேற்குலக வரலாறு வரை என்று இந்த புத்தகத்தைக் குறிப்பிடலாம். அதிலும் கூட அமெரிக்கா கனடா பற்றியெல்லாம் ஒன்றுமே சொல்லப் படவில்லை.
கிழக்குலகில் வடக்கிந்தியா தவிர்த்து மொத்த ஆசியவையும் ஆசிரியர் தொட்டுகூட பார்க்கவில்லை. தமிழகம் தொடங்கி பர்மா, சீனா, மலேயா, ஜப்பான், இந்தோனேசியா உட்பட எந்த ஆசியா குறித்தும் வரலாறு தகவல்கள் இல்லை. முழுக்க முழுக்க கிரேக்கத்தையும் வட இந்திய அரசுகளையும் சுற்றி வருகிறது இந்த ஆவணம். அதனால் இதை உலகத்தின் ஃபிளாஷ் பேக் என்று சொல்வதை விட இந்தோ ஐரோப்பா வின் ஃப்ளாஷ்பேக் ன்னு சொல்லாம்.

திரைப்படங்களில் ஒரு காட்சி வைப்பார்கள் - அம்னீஷியா வந்தவர்களுக்கு பழைய நினைவுகள் திடீர் திடீரென்று மூளையில் மின்னி மறையும்... அதுபோல கி.பி.க்கு முந்தைய சில பல வரலாற்று நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மீது ஆசிரியர் flash light அடித்துள்ளார், சிறிதும் அலுப்பு தட்டாத நடையில்.
வரலாற்று அறிவில் noob ஆக இருப்பவர்களுக்கு இந்நூல் ஒரு கண்திறப்பு .
Pro ஆக இருப்பவர்களுக்கு இந்நூல் பத்தோடு பதினொன்று.

I think everyone hate social science in school, but the way the author describes is making us to seet and read. when I see the tittle I thought author going to give some brief and events of both BC and AC, but author did not say anything about AC just 2 page. but the book is really good.

மதனின் நகைச்சுவை கலந்த எழுத்து நடையை மனிதனும் மர்மங்களும் புத்தகத்தில் கண்டு இதுவும் நிச்சயம் நல்ல புத்தகமாக இருக்கும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையோடு திருநெல்வேலியில் நடந்த புத்தக கண்காட்சியில் நான் வாங்கிய புத்தகம்.
கி. மு - கி. பியும், சாப்பியன்ஸ் புத்தகமும் ஒன்றாக வாசிக்க தொடங்கிய போது, முதல் அத்தியாயம் ஒன்று போல் தோன்றியது. ஆனால் அதன் பின் இரண்டும் முற்றிலும் வேறுபட்டது என்று புரிந்தது .
வரலாற்று புத்தகங்கள் விரும்பி படிக்கும் எனக்கு கி. மு - கி. பி அதிகம் வரலாறு பற்றி விளக்கியதாக தோன்றவில்லை. மாறாக வரலாற்றில் நடந்த சம்பவங்களை தழுவிய சிறு கதைகளின் தொகுப்பாகவே தோன்றுகிறது.
ஆனாலும் மதனின் எளிமையான எழுத்து நடையும், அதை விளக்கும் புகைப்படங்கள், நாம் அறிந்திராத வரலாற்று பக்கங்களை நமக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்யும் புத்தகமாக இந்த புத்தகம் அமைந்துள்ளது.

மதனின் நகைச்சுவை கலந்த எழுத்து நடையை மனிதனும் மர்மங்களும் புத்தகத்தில் கண்டு இதுவும் நிச்சயம் நல்ல புத்தகமாக இருக்கும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையோடு திருநெல்வேலியில் நடந்த புத்தக கண்காட்சியில் நான் வாங்கிய புத்தகம்.
கி. மு - கி. பியும், சாப்பியன்ஸ் புத்தகமும் ஒன்றாக வாசிக்க தொடங்கிய போது, முதல் அத்தியாயம் ஒன்று போல் தோன்றியது. ஆனால் அதன் பின் இரண்டும் முற்றிலும் வேறுபட்டது என்று புரிந்தது .
வரலாற்று புத்தகங்கள் விரும்பி படிக்கும் எனக்கு கி. மு - கி. பி அதிகம் வரலாறு பற்றி விளக்கியதாக தோன்றவில்லை. மாறாக வரலாற்றில் நடந்த சம்பவங்களை தழுவிய சிறு கதைகளின் தொகுப்பாகவே தோன்றுகிறது.
ஆனாலும் மதனின் எளிமையான எழுத்து நடையும், அதை விளக்கும் புகைப்படங்கள், நாம் அறிந்திராத வரலாற்று பக்கங்களை நமக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்யும் புத்தகமாக இந்த புத்தகம் அமைந்துள்ளது.

The Author has explained the history from the origin of human species to ashoka emperor in a neat and chronological order. The history before BC(Before christ), the major emperors, oldest civilizations and philisophors are covered neatly. This book is for someone who wants to learn little insight on what was happening in the world in BC.

மதனின் நூல் என்றால் அலட்டல் இருக்காது அதே சமயம் சுவாரசியத்துக்கும் தகவல்களுக்கும் பஞ்சமிருக்காது. இந்நூலும் அப்படித்தான்.என்னைப் போன்ற வரலாற்று ரசிகர்களை இந்நூல் கவரும் என்பதில் எனக்கு ஐயமில்லை.வாய்க்குள் நுழையாத சில கிரேக்க,எகிப்திய பெயர்களை குறிப்பிடும் போது கூடவே ஆங்கில உச்சரிப்பையும் குறிப்பிட்டால் இணையத்தில் தேடுவதற்கு வசதியாக இருந்திருக்கும்.மொசப்பதேமியா,நைல் நதி நாகரீகம்,இந்து நதி நாகரிகம் ஆகிய நதிக்கரை நாகரீங்கள் பற்றி எழுதியிருக்கும் மதன் நான்காவது நாகரீகமான குவாங்கோ நாகரீகத்தை மறந்தது ஏன் என்று புரியவில்லை.அதே போல் கிரேக்கத்தை பற்றி ஐந்தாறு தலைப்புகளில் எழுதிய மதன் ரோமர்களை மறந்தது ஏன் என்று தெரியவில்லை.

The highly rated book in Tamil readers circles was sadly disappointing.It is just a mashup of all history books that Madhan has read. In other words, it is a poorly researched book with unoriginal content. For instance, the debunked Aryan Invasion Theory is presented as fact, with no second thoughts on verifying its historical proof. If a westerner writes history, it must be well researched, is the assumption of Indian writers- which is sadly wrong.

This book gives you the detailed info of the various civilizations which made us what we are now. Made me travel backward through the time machine to the unseen world of our forefathers. It entirely captured my imaginative skills, some of the facts in this book made me dumb stuck and astonished...

Great book with the summaries of world History (from the origin of human to the rise of civilizations) & nice to read.only few printing mistakes are present here & there.if it's avoidable then it would be nice.i.e especially page no 154 para 3 mentioned mistakenly as Plato instead of Aristotle.
