A fitting conclusion to the Bridge of Legends story! I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole series, and while there were relatively few surprises in this instalment following the big revelations at the end of the last one, the way it all wraps up was completely engaging and satisfying! I have to admit I particularly loved the way the romance wrapped up - everything about it was catnip.
The other thing I loved, SO MUCH, was Jhinn's arc and ending in this book. One of the things that's amazed me again and again throughout the story is Wilson's deft way of dramatising and explaining very complex concepts in very few words. Something like that happens with Jhinn and I particularly adored it. He's a character who has some very specific religious observances to which he legalistically adheres, and I adored the way Wilson drives him to a point where he has to choose between the spirit and the letter of the law. It's a choice I think a great many people of faith would resonate with, and I just loved seeing a subplot like this in the story.
Finally, book 5 to what has been a very thrilling series full of magic, dragons, power hungry people, sacrifices and legends. In this book Marielle knows that unless she kills off all the Legends' avatars they would never be rid of the legends, who it was now becoming ever more obvious, were their real enemy. They were causing havoc every time they were unleashed by Tamerlan, but because they were inside of him Marielle was afraid that destroying the legends would in turn mean destroying the one man she truly loved. Tamerlan was adamant she kill him if this meant it would keep her safe, she was the dearest thing and the only person who had brought joy to his life even during the time of so much stress. Marielle, Jhinn and Etienne try to keep Tamerlan unaware of their plans so that the legends are not forewarned, and set out travelling across the lands smashing up avatars. In the end both Marielle and Tamerlan, who had by that time decided to marry, preferring to have a short time together as a couple than nothing at all feel sure that one or both of them would have to die to save their world. Could Marielle end her ambitious quest and still save both Tamerlan's life and his sanity? This has been an epic series of use and abuse of magic, of enslavement of dragons, of power hungry legends, of betrayal but also one of love and loyalty and great heroism on the part of Tamerlan and Marielle and Jhinn their very good friend. This book gives us a perfect ending to what has been a brilliant series with so many heart stopping moments till we reach the end!
Action packed ending taking down each remaining legend(Timeless, Maid Chaos, Cherrylocks, etc) and releasing the dragons back to their world.
“Marry me, Marielle, and claim the right to call me your own for those last few days or weeks I have to give. Lie to me. Work behind my back. Kill me when – eventually – you must. I will never say no to you, only yes. Yes, you may have any part of me you want. All of it, if that is what you want. Every scrap of me left. Every bit of humanity left in me sets to you – like a compass to north, like smoke to the wind – I am tuned to you. Please take what I have left.”
Marielle and Tamerlan finally have a heart to heart about their feelings amongst the chaos.
"He hated it when he wasn’t sure if his thoughts were his own. One tiny drift into daydream. One slip of the mind and there were thoughts waiting to colonize him, to enslave him, to ruin him forever."
The legends take full advantage of Tamerlan's body even without smoking making him a danger to everyone around him.
This book kinda made me frustrated with Jhinn he didn't care about anyone but the waverunners and was obsessed with following the doctrine and going through a portal to nowhere even after stepping out of water.

This book served as an amazing conclusion! I was riveted throughout, caught up in the plight of the characters. The romance was beautiful. The characters felt real and the world is rich. Although I'm sad it's over, I am satisfied with the conclusion. The only thing lacking is knowledge of the fates of some of the earlier minor characters; it would be nice to know if they survived the chaos. But other than that, I'm happy.
I received a free copy, but this review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.
The final book in the series, Marielle, tamerlan and jhinn together with Etienne must free all dragons by slaying the legend's avatars. But will Tamerlan be taken by them before? The situation gets direr by the day. A nice end to this story although in some parts maybe dragged out just slightly too much. Favourite character throughout: Jhinn
Satisfying conclusion to the series with a few twists and turns. Kept the characters and their relationships interesting and the story, as with the others, always moves along with a lot of action. Again, I wish there was less violence, but it's a key part of the plot. Overall, I enjoyed reading the Bridge of Legends books. I'm doing an indie fantasy challenge so this series was a great fit!
This was the last installment of BoL , and oh my word, I was on the edge of my seat while reading. Fighting the legends was hard work but in the end everything turned out good. Wonderful happy ending.
Amazing series. Beautiful story and characters. All my questions were answered in this last book.Lots of action and twist and turns. I can honestly say this is one of the best fantasy series.
Loved it! Probably the best one of the series, I love how everything came together. I wish we'd had a little more epilogue, but alas. Perhaps there will be a spin-off. ;) Thanks for a great story, Sarah!
I was sitting in a busy airport, waiting for a flight, reading the end chapters of this book. I was so engulfed in the story and characters that I almost missed my boarding announcement! Sarah's writing just takes me wherever the characters are.
Great series also pretty clean. They're is use of drugs for those sensitive readers and maybe the D word used here and there but in my case it was a clean read and great story.
So the end of what has been a cracking series written by a cracking author. This book was full of twists and turns all the way to an ending you just don't see coming. What is the next series going to be like I wonder. Highly recommended
Another series crossed off my list! I am glad I finally got around to finishing this series. It’s been a whirlwind of a ride.
This book is told from multiple point-of-views like the rest of the series. I think for this book in particular, it really helped to bridge the thinking of the characters and add to the finishing of the plot points. The legends do get pretty spicy in this one as they are out for blood!
Marielle really stole the show when it came to the characters. She is trying to do the right thing and that’s a lot to do when she has to keep everything a secret from Tamerlan. Each of the characters are fighting their own internal battles and I think it really ramps up, especially for Jhinn. He is still my favorite character. I also enjoyed his story arc.
I would say that I only had two complaints. My first would be that even though the romance was already a bit fast paced, it really goes fast in this one and I couldn’t help but be a bit turned off by it. My second would be that I needed a longer epilogue!
Overall, I really liked this series and the conclusion was one of the better ones I have read recently. I still need to read a few more series by this author and hopefully I can get through some this year!
