সন্ধান
সন্ধানী সেন। জীবনের স্বাভাবিক যাপনপথেই সে কিছু জিনিস সন্ধান করে বেড়ায়। বন্ধুরা এগিয়ে আসে। যা প্রমাণ করা যায় না, তা খুঁজতে নিষেধ করে কেউ কেউ। সন্ধানীর মন মানে না। গাণিতিক সমীকরণ, টেস্টটিউবের ভেতর উৎকট গন্ধের বিক্রিয়া আর গবেষণাপত্রের কিলবিলে রেফারেন্স লিস্ট যথেষ্ট মনে হয় না তার কাছে।
বাসায় এসে বাবা-মায়ের খেলার পুতুলগুলো দেখে। ছোট-বড়, সাদা-কালো নানারকম পুতুল। একটি পুতুলের এক ডজন হাত, আরেকটির চেহারায় শুঁড়, অন্যটির পেছনে লেজ, কোনোটির মুখ থেকে বেরিয়ে আছে লকলকে জিভ। এখানেও শান্তি পায় না সে। খেলতে ইচ্ছে করে না ওগুলো নিয়ে।
চারপাশে তাকায় সন্ধানী, দৃশ্যমানকে দেখে অদৃশ্যের কথা ভাবে। কখনও ভেতর থেকে একটা কণ্ঠ ডেকে ওঠে। বলতে চায় যে, কাঠখোট্টা প্রমাণান্ধতা আর শিশুতোষ পুতুলখেলার মাঝামাঝি কিছু একটা আছে। সন্ধানীর অনুসন্ধান একটি উপসংহারের দিকে যেতে শুরু করে...

First of all, this book is hard.
Like real hard, truly hard.
And took me quite a good time to cope with it totally.
But the later the bitter, the better the sweeter!
So, this book is about the search of a girl named Shondhani for truth. The truth of our origin, the truth of our existence. The truth we see but ignore. As like the secularism has put an unseen veil on our face and ear. They claim that veil hide our anatomical eyes from seeing the world. But in this book, Shondhani Sen realize there's another veil that secular put on always, that cover their internal eyes, ears and mind. For example, they claim “Religions are about rituals only. And humanism has no rituals.” Then what is offering flowers to the tombs and concrete?
If your religion is humanism only, then THIS book is for you my dear. It's no loss to know your religion a bit closer, right?

হুজুর হয়ে টিমের ১ম বই ছিলো রম্যরচনা বা প্রহসন ঘরানার। এই বই পুরোই উলটো। একেবারে পাবলিক ভার্সিটির শিক্ষার্থীদের পরিবেশ আর জীবনকে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে। গল্পের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র হলো সন্ধানী নামের মেয়েটি। পরিবারগত পরিচয়ে সে হিন্দু কিন্তু ভাবনার জগতে সে দার্শনিক। জীবনের অর্থ কী, কেন এলাম এই নশ্বর ধরায়-এইসব প্রশ্ন নিয়ে তার ভাবনা-চলে রাতদিন। বামপাঠচক্রে সবাই নিজেদের ব্যাপারে হা-হু করলেও, সন্ধানী একটু বেয়াড়াভাবেই দ্বিমত করে। নিজে খোঁজ চালাতে চালাতে সে এমন একটা ধারণায় চলে আসে যার সাথে ইসলামি দর্শনের খুবই মিল। কিন্তু ইসলাম নিয়ে তার পড়াশোনা না থাকায় সে ব্যাপারটা ধরতে পারে না। তাছাড়া হিন্দু ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডে থেকে ইসলাম নিয়ে জানার আগ্রহও হওয়ার কথা না। এটা ঐতিহাসিক বাস্তবতা। বাম রাজনীতিবিদ মানিবেন্দ্রনাথ রয় নিজের পর্যবেক্ষণে বলেছিলেন: “পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসে এমন দৃষ্টান্ত সত্যিই আর পাওয়া যায় না l পৃথিবীর কোনো সভ্য জাতিই হিন্দুদের মতো ইসলামের ইতিহাস সম্বন্ধে এত অজ্ঞ নয়। ইসলাম সম্বন্ধে এমন ঘৃণার তারও কেউ পোষণ করে না। আমাদের জাতীয়তার মূল বৈশিষ্ট্যই হলো আধ্যাত্মিক সাম্রাজ্যবাদ ৷ কিন্তু এই নোংরা মানসিকতা ইসলামের তুলনায় অবশ্যই অনেক বেশি স্পষ্ট।” (ইসলামের ঐতিহাসিক ভূমিকা)
যাই হোক, গল্পটা শেষ হইয়াও হইলো না শেষ টাইপে। সন্ধানী তার অনুসন্ধানের পথে একজন জীবনসঙ্গী খুঁজে পায়, বেশিদিন না যেতেই এই পৃথিবী ছেড়ে তাকে চলে যেতে হয়। অন্যের প্রাণ বাঁচাতে গিয়ে নিজে দেহান্তরিত হয়ে পড়ে।
শেষদিকে এসে আমি ভাবনায় পড়ে গিয়েছিলাম। মন চাইছিল বলি-আল্লাহ যেন এসকল সন্ধানী প্রাণকে সুযোগ দেন। আমি বিশ্বাস করতে চাই তিনি দিবেন। আমি আশা করতে চাই তিনি দিবেন।
আশা নিয়েই তো মানুষ বাঁচে, তাই না?
সকল সত্যান্বেষী অন্তর আলোকিত হোক।
যাই হোক, গল্পটা শেষ হইয়াও হইলো না শেষ টাইপে। সন্ধানী তার অনুসন্ধানের পথে একজন জীবনসঙ্গী খুঁজে পায়, বেশিদিন না যেতেই এই পৃথিবী ছেড়ে তাকে চলে যেতে হয়। অন্যের প্রাণ বাঁচাতে গিয়ে নিজে দেহান্তরিত হয়ে পড়ে।
শেষদিকে এসে আমি ভাবনায় পড়ে গিয়েছিলাম। মন চাইছিল বলি-আল্লাহ যেন এসকল সন্ধানী প্রাণকে সুযোগ দেন। আমি বিশ্বাস করতে চাই তিনি দিবেন। আমি আশা করতে চাই তিনি দিবেন।
আশা নিয়েই তো মানুষ বাঁচে, তাই না?
সকল সত্যান্বেষী অন্তর আলোকিত হোক।

উপন্যাসটা পড়ার সময় প্রথম দিকে কিছুটা বিরক্তি লাগলেও শেষটা অসাধারণ ছিল। আমি ভাবতেই পারিনাই শেষেরদিকে এরকম কিছু হবে।
উপন্যাসের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্রের নাম সন্ধানী, পুরো নাম সন্ধানী সেন। সে একজন সনাতন ধর্মাবলম্বী। ভর্সিটিতে গিয়ে নাস্তিকদের সাথে বন্ধুক্ত হলেও নাস্তিকতা তার যুক্তিতে ধরে নাই। সে নিজেকে আস্তিক হিসেবে পরিচয় দিতে। তার নামের স্বার্থকতার কারণেই হোক আর যে কারণে হোক সে সন্ধান করছিল এমন এক জীবনব্যবস্থার যা মানুষকে পরিপূর্ণতা দিতে পারে। সেই সুবাদে সে বিভিন্ন ধর্ম নিয়ে পড়াশোনা শুরু করল। সে কি খুজে পেয়েছিল যা সে সন্ধান করছিল? উপন্যাসের শেষের অংশটা জানার জন্য হলেও উপন্যাসটা সবার পড়া উচিত।

উপন্যাসের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্রের নাম সন্ধানী, পুরো নাম সন্ধানী সেন। সে একজন সনাতন ধর্মাবলম্বী। ভর্সিটিতে গিয়ে নাস্তিকদের সাথে বন্ধুক্ত হলেও নাস্তিকতা তার যুক্তিতে ধরে নাই। সে নিজেকে আস্তিক হিসেবে পরিচয় দিতে। তার নামের স্বার্থকতার কারণেই হোক আর যে কারণে হোক সে সন্ধান করছিল এমন এক জীবনব্যবস্থার যা মানুষকে পরিপূর্ণতা দিতে পারে। সেই সুবাদে সে বিভিন্ন ধর্ম নিয়ে পড়াশোনা শুরু করল। সে কি খুজে পেয়েছিল যা সে সন্ধান করছিল? উপন্যাসের শেষের অংশটা জানার জন্য হলেও উপন্যাসটা সবার পড়া উচিত।

"সন্ধান" is a series of stories of someone called সন্ধানী (literal translation: Seeker) who has a lot of questions about faith and is always seeking answers.
Shortly after taking the photo of my mid-review, I finished reading the book, so here are my afterthoughts:
Along with the main character, I, too, got to learn about several debated or interesting topics and much more about ourselves as human beings on this journey towards the truth.
I can't thank them enough, the author(s) and all the people related to the project to bring this book to publication and consequently, to us, the readers.
I have not rated a book 5 out of 5 stars in a long while. If I could, I would give it a 6 out of 5, if only for the brilliantly clever and wise way the themes and stories were organized.
I do have mixed feelings about the ending, but I really do hope the stories continue.

শুরুটা সাধারণ হলেও কৌতূহল উদ্রেক করবে, মাঝখানটা খুব বেশি ভালো লাগবে, শেষের আগে আগ্রহ থাকবে চূড়ান্ত পরিমাণে, আর শেষটা সুন্দর তবে অন্যরকম রূপে মনে থেকে যাবে।

Even a fictional character can make people cry. 'Shondhani' was one of that. Love this book♡
