Hearts of Stone #2

Tamed by a Beast

Rate this book
I hate this place.

Not that my life on Najarie was great, but at least I didn’t have a beastly alien trying to sex me up all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean all the freaking time.

I haven’t forgotten Earth or the loved ones I’ve left behind. In fact, I’m willing to use any means necessary to get back to them. However, when the alien that claimed me offers to help in exchange for my body I find myself torn.

Either I’m nothing more than a breeder to him or he’s trying to find a way to persuade me to stay. And I’ll just say if that’s the case, his method is working...

*It is not necessary, but highly recommended that the series be read in order.
Please note this series is a spin off from the House of Kaimar series.

Miranda Bridges

Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.

4.5.
The second I finished this book I wanted to read it all over again (that very rarely happens with me).
I liked this much more than the first book of this series (and more than the adjacent series which leads into this one). I loved the characters. I loved their interactions. I loved the romance. I loved the evolution of their relationship. If I could change anything then maybe I’d add more bah chicka wah wah, but that’s just my pervy self.

Scarlett and Draal

Oh my goodness Scarlett is such a spitfire and Draal suffers from a great loss so he is a little harsh at the beginning. Together they find love and healing. Scarlett earns respect as a mechanical engineer when she designs weapons to help save them all when war come knocking.

At one point I was crying but I won't say why.... You'll have to read it.

This series is addictive ♡♡

I absolutely loved this book just as much as the first. Sometimes with series you loose interest but nt this one. I literally couldn't put it down and now I have to painfully wait for my next fix. I love the strength of Scarlett and her true Red haired Irsh spirit. The heroes abrasive ways hide his kind passionate personality but in the end I wish I had him myself lol. I loved Charlotte s inner struggle to get back to her twin sister and our heroes attempt to protect his heart.

I actually enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series. It is still a super fast pace so if you prefer your monster erotica to have more of a slow burn to it then you might not love this series, BUT with that being said I am very impressed with how much character development and plot building Miranda Bridges manages to squeeze into these short novels! I thoroughly enjoyed these two characters in particular and definitely plan on continuing on with this series.

A good story, though short it had good character development. The hero was sweet and understanding, the heroine was resourceful and witty. I am looking forward to more from this series.

Conflicted

Scarlett is told that she is to be a breeder. Like hell no! Draal has selected her from all of the human captives. The first thing he tries to do is to breed her and she stabs him. She fights him off and refuses to be his breeder. They come to an agreement and then go to the spaceship that brought the humans. They finally get around to having sex and a strange thing happens. Draal goes through the shattering. Then the village is attacked, but Scarlett helps with the fighting. I left a lot out so you will want to read the book but is definitely worth reading. Plus, it is for adults only!

Enjoying this series

I love the way each story is focused on a different couple and builds on the overall tale. Tamed by a Beast picks up at the selection gathering from Chosen by a Beast. It continues on from there giving everything from the view of Scarlet who is Initially wants nothing more than to return to earth to her sister. But becomes more conflicted on the issue With the more time she spends with Draal.

Great series

I’m loving this series so far. Each book relates to another but it is not necessary to read them in order. The story starts off strong and does not lag anywhere. There are gaps that are not explained and other inconsistencies but the overall story is so good that I barely mind these lapses. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I'm not normally a fan of alien books, mostly for the whole abduction theme. But these books aren't too bad, and a nice read, even if they are a tad short .

An enjoyable story that was hard to put down! I didn't realize that this was the second book in the series, but it was still easy to follow even without having read the one before it. I loved this story from the first page. I thought that Scarlet was an amazing character, full of the kind of personality that compels me to be invested in her struggle. I didn't like Draal at first, he grew on me that more his motivations became exposed by the expanding storyline. The was, of course, the regular action of abducted women being prizes for barbarian aliens, but, lol, that really is one of the main reasons that I read this book to begin with anyway, so that was cool that the story was so easy to fall in love with. I loved the way the author played up Scarlet's dilemma about her sister and her future plans and the way the story made her choices difficult to live with but still understandable and vital to the progression of the overall story arc. I have already added the next book to my KU to be read reading list and can hardly wait for its release.

A really good story with soon much sarcastic humor!

I must admit I saw the ending well before I got there, but it didn't diminish the story for me. I highly enjoyed this author 's ability to have me laughing. It wasn't too filled with sex scenes, but the story moved along to make it interesting. I recommend reading this series.

I have to say that Miranda Bridges has not disappointed in bringing another fantastic story of human women struggles with their new lives far from their home on earth. They are fighting for their freedom and the right to choose the path they have before them.

Scarlett has been chosen to be a breeder for the Boraq after their women and children have almost been decimated through disease brought by humans years before. Scarlett has been chosen by Draal who is the metal worker in the tribe. He tells Scarlett that she is never to fall for him and he won’t fall for him.

Draal has lost hope once before and works to protect himself again, but discovers that Scarlett is his heartmate. They are constantly butting heads but work with a compromise. He promised to reunite her with her twin sister. Then he falls in love with her and doesn’t want to lose her. Scarlett discovers that she is pregnant and has a choice to make. Then they learn that a neighbouring tribe are planning on attacking their camp and a traitor from their camp is responsible.

Scarlett works alongside the Boraq to defend the women and children as well as the whole camp. They create weapons from earth for the women to use to help fight for their freedom and to protect their new homes.

This book is worth reading and you won’t want to put it down until the very end. I can’t wait to read the book in this exciting new series. There are lots of heated moments between Draal and Scarlett that will leave you hot under the collar. Reading how their love grows and a friendship develops and respect between these two is enjoyable and entertaining.

This novel was quite entertaining. The heroine was a tough, Alpha firecracker who used her engineering abilities to save the day! The world building in this sci-fi romance was deftly done with a light hand, and the characterization and development of the romantic relationship between the hero and heroine of this novel was top-notch. This heroine is tied with the heroine of The Monarch's Mate as my favorite Miranda Bridges heroine that I have read yet. At first, I hated the hero as much as the heroine did, but through the course of this book, as more was revealed about his character and he fell in love with the heroine despite his best efforts, I fell in love with him just as much as the heroine did. I was so happy that the heroine was able to negotiate the freeing of all the human slaves and breeders in exchange for her tactical ability and weapons design. She used what power she had at the right time to try to do right and correct a great wrong. This second novel in this series redeemed this series for me, after I had been very triggered by the first novel in this series at the alien culture's use of slaves and breeders. I know cannot wait to get my hands on the third book in this series after how much I enjoyed this novel. I will definitely be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel. This novel uses the Mars Needs Women trope and the Fated Mates trope. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy alien sci-fi romances.

Past or present, Scarlett must choose.

She is faced with a horrible choice. Give up a child, or stay and lose her family and life on Earth forever.
He just wants a family, a youngling to love and nurture. He'll do anything to get one.
This was a wonderful romance, with all the adventure you'd expect.

Great 2nd in series. The love build was authentic.

Spoilers ahead

THAT being said I did not find the call to arms super authentic with the heroine. There were a few CHEESY lines in this small portion of the book that didn't really jive with her character and I just never saw her as this militant person who would all of sudden be leading a group of women. NOW if the timeline of the book wasn't so condensed I could see where she could have grown into this role. I also didn't see this group of "men" being at a point to allow them to be lead by these women either, to entrust that kind of responsibility to them so very soon after introducing them into their society. The making of the weapon ext was right on, the rest of it just didn't make sense to me. It was a fight between to factions that have been living and I'm guessing fighting between each other for far far longer than the humans had been in their village. THEN, these women come in with the save???? IDK just didn't fit.

Its a really small portion of the book which is why I still gave it 4 stars. The rest of the book deserved all 5.

Games by a Beast: An Alien Breeder Romance (Hearts of Stone Book 2)

Scarlet was doing well at the University in her senior year , on her way to getting her degree, and then they came and her life was forever changed. She was standing waiting to be claimed as a breeder for an alien, however, this girl definitely would not go passively to her new fate. That just was not in her nature and I guess that Aliens had never been blessed with the knowledge about flame haired humans. He just got something more stubborn and determined than any Alien had ever seen, and humans are known as the weaker species! Really great read!!!

*I am a beta reader for this author and read this book before publication and copy was finalized*
I really liked this book. I love me some hate-to-love romance and this book gave me that in spades. I have come to really love these gargoyle-esk men and their hearts of stone. If I were these female characters, I wouldn’t put up anywhere near as much of a fight, but maybe that’s just me. I am so excited for the next book in this series. I want more of this world and these hot romance stories!

Love this series

Scarlett has been kidnapped twice once by eleven aliens. Then she was given to a primitive race of gargoyle aliens. She is not happy about either her twin in still on earth. When she is taken as a breeder by Draal she strikes a deal reunite her with her sister she will bear him a child. However Draal is not the cruel male he seems to be just in pain. When she gets to know him and causes his shattering can she ever really leave him? This is such a fantastic series the world building is wonderful and I love that her female characters all have something to offer. I can't wait for the next couple in this series.
