Basically I'm a writer who found a way to make her passion a career:
I am the author of a teen novel, Can't Stop The Shine (KimaniTru/Harlequin), named a 2009 American Library Association Popular Paperback For Young Adults. Having contributed to two anthologies, Am I the Last Virgin? (Simon & Schuster) and One Hand in My Pocket (BET Books), I am currently finishing my second novel for teens and researching several other book projects.
My days are spent as the associate director of Publications at Spelman College. In the evenings I put on my freelance hat as a contributing editor to Heart & Soul magazine.
Formerly, I spent nearly 15 years primarily in consumer magazines (Fortune, Honey, BET, Upscale) and co-owned the public relations firm PowerFlow Media, which represented the National Black Arts Festival, National Public Radio's Farai Chideya, Heart & Soul's Editorial Director Yanick Rice Lamb, and Book It: A Teen Readers Festival.
