Redemption Highway #12

Drive Me Crazy (The Hatcher & Willis Families)

Rate this book
Distracted. Disturbed. Unhinged.

Crazy.

Yeah, that’s the best word for it. Just one glance at Harper Jennings drives me crazy.

She’s my best friend’s sister, and sneaking around with her was the most exciting thing in the world — until it wasn’t.

When our secrets come to light, we soon learn life’s messy, and so is love. Faced with her mortality, my mere existence as a man is reduced to nothing.

That was then and this is now.

I may have been the one to walk away eight years ago, but I’ll be damned if I do it again. My craving for her is stronger than ever, and like it or not, she wants me, too. I did what I had to back then for her.

Now, I’ll do what I damn well please for us.

The point is… we can’t help who we fall in love with. Even if it drives us crazy, I’ll make her mine.

Ridge and Harper's emotional story.

Ridge and Harper have loved each other since they were children. They were inseparable as friends, and then as teenagers. Until life and reality intervened. Living in a small town can be a great challenge. The rumors that swarm around Ridge and his best friend Mack, hurt Harper more than she can possibly explain. The fact that Ridge feels as though he will never be good enough for Harper, keeps him from going all in with her.

Choices are made, and they are separated for years. they both feel as though the other is living a better life than they are. But the love that they feel for each other is still there. Ridge will stop at nothing to make sure that Harper is safe and sound. And when an opportunity presents itself to take care of her, he does, in the best way possible.

Their story is beautiful. This book is filled with so much. It steals your heart and then gives it back to you filled with the possibility of a proper future.

This isn’t utter shit but damn near close. This is the story of childhood friends to lovers who actually never dated but just pined for each other. They are separated many times for various reasons mainly circumstances of Ridges doing. After a period of 10 years, Harper returns, under devastating circumstances. Again, this relationship of friends wanna be lovers picks up where they left off with many more secrets and terrible communication. Can Ridge be any more wishy washy? Can Harper be any more spineless? I personally couldn’t stand Ridge and his reasons for leaving Harper over and over. He harbored secrets and when it was finally revealed, what a let down! Stupid reasons and it made me dislike him more. Harper was full of heart but had a weakness of standing up for herself. I didn’t dislike her but her relationship with Ridge was stagnant after 10 years, having had no personal growth, didn’t process why they were separated or questioned Ridge why? I still don’t quite understand why her family was silent and not pissed off about a Weston or why Harper was not angry more with her family, friends, Ridge?!? It was weird. There was an immature quality they both had in how they dealt with matters to the very end of this story. Between all the secondary characters and Mack especially, I was bothered by their presence, silence and interference. And just eww the amount of love Ridge showers Mack. I’m so annoyed by his devotion to her vs Harper. I wish Harper had a backbone and made him grovel and not the other way around where she’s chasing him and begging him to be together. I just can’t with this book. And the writing was not great, very chopping, typos, grammatical errors, useless cliched drama thrown in, and a ton of time jumps where you can’t follow what the hell was going on. Missing explanations. This was a bit confusing, lots of events never got clarity, and I was not of fan of how it ended. And seriously, for an abused victim of many years, how is it she can quickly bounce back without any mental anguish? After almost getting killed - no trauma? Nothing is dealt with. The author needed more development of this story and characters to get it right. Not sure how there are 5 stars for this....I literally was going to give this a 2 stars but after writing this review just now, it’s a 1.

Drive Me Crazy isn’t my first read from Leaona, so I knew going into this that it was going to be emotional and boy was it ever!

Ridge and Harper were young lovers, some events happened that caused Ridge to walk way, but ten years later Harper is back in his life, but will they get their second chance?

I have loved Ridge from the moment his character was introduced and I am so happy that he got a story. Harper. She is a fighter. The things she has gone through are heartbreaking, but she came out stronger than ever. The chemistry between Ridge and Harper when they were younger was great, at least from the glimpses in the beginning of the book, but as a adults. Those two were melting some pages. Their relationship was full of ups and downs, pain and heartbreak. They both struggled with different things, but they both still have a love for each other.

If you’ve read Leaona’s books before there are plenty of some old favorites in this one and if you haven’t you’ll meet a lot of amazing characters who you’ll want to know more about.

There are so things mentioned in this book that may be hard for people to read, but it’s really just a small portion in the beginning. It is worth the read.

Grab the tissues and prepare yourself for Ridge Willis. Drive Me Crazy is a MUST READ!

I love Harper and Ridge and their touching and passionate journey back to each other. Their story is one of true love, friendship, strength and courage. Harper was a brave and feisty woman with a beautiful soul. She never gave up hope and I applaud her for making the decision to escape the madness and return home. She had always loved Ridge and would do whatever it took to show him that he was the man for her. Harper needed Ridge to comfort her, keep her safe and complete her life. Ridge always regretted allowing Harper to leave all those years ago, but he thought he was doing what was best for her. Even after Harper came home he still thought he wasn’t good enough for her, but he vowed to put the past behind him and protect her at all costs. They are soulmates and were destined to be together. Ridge was Harper’s hero and savior and he gave her a chance for the life she always wanted. Harper’s dreams were always about starting a new life with Ridge by her side. She survived their time apart and came out stronger because she knew that deep inside their love for each other had never waned, and she was determined to be with him forever.

One and the gang are back to aid their brother in getting his woman, that is if he can get his head out of his. . . Ridge has loved Harper since they were kids. Unfortunately he didn't feel he was good enough and no one fought for him when he needed them. Not only that there was so much other stuff happening and the more we learn the more we don't want to know. These two have fought rumors and snubbing for starters with threats and abuse following closely behind. If the two of them can get their heads together and stop with the dumb stuff they can do big things. I can't tell you how many times I just wanted to knock some sense into both of them in between laughing at the love, family and support not to mention the wisdom of the women they surround themselves with.

If this is your first glance at the clan you might want to start from the beginning with this this group. They will steal your heart, raise your blood pressure and keep you laughing all the while as you learn of their stories and trials. I love this author and never finish any of her books without wanting more and falling in love with her characters. It's always an amazing, frustrating, hair pulling, kindle throwing experience.

Leaona has once again pulled me into her characters world and gave me all the feels. Ridge and Harper have always loved each other. It began as young friends then to the teenage years. Unfortunately in a strange twist of events life intervened and took Harper away and Ridge let her go. It is now 10 years later and truths, lies and secrets have been exposed and it not what anyone was expected . Ridge has never stopped loving her and Harper needs to know she is more than worth it . It is now time for Ridge to protect the woman he loves . It is now a second chance at love but first pieces of their hearts and lives must be put together. An emotional journey of second chance after heartbreak and sadness!

This this the first book that I've ever read by this author and I sat and read it all in one sitting as I couldn't put it down was awesome. This is a fantastic second chance romance book and it will have you gripped and your emotions all over the place.
This is Ridge and Harper's story and its truly a story that you don't want to miss.
These two have known each other a long time and have loved each other just as much, but when they are separated for a few years after life throws a few curve balls at them they think that they will never see each other again.

Ridge is a man that has loved this woman for as long as he can remember and he has always has these feelings of not being good enough for her as a person, as someone that needed to be there for her when she needed him as a man. This is the reason I think that he regrets letting her go all this years ago.

Harper is an extremely strong woman that has been through a lot in her life and is still going through some things but the thing that has stayed are the feelings for Ridge. He knows now that he will never let her go again no matter what it takes.
Can these two souls put everything behind them and start again?
( NO SPOILERS)

They were both together when they were younger and they thought at the time that they would be together forever. Ridge wanted her more than he ever has in his life and she was like an addiction to his mind and body and he has learnt from the past. Life and love are always messy and I think that is what these characters learnt. This book lets the reader make a connection to the characters and you will really feel what these have been though and the challenging moments that they have had. I will defiantly go back and read book one in this series because I loved this book so much and I really like the way that this author writes. This story is a beautiful read and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This book is out now.

The star rating I gave reflects my confused status regarding this book. I liked second chance stories so was looking forward to reading about Ridge and Harper. Both characters were interesting to read,I loved Harper's tenacity and her strength of character. It took me awhile to like Ridge and I can say I liked not loved him, I didn't understand his reasoning for the decisions he made.

I always enjoy books that take me on an emotional journey and this story delivered on that in spades,I laughed, I cried, I was angry and happy it was a true rollercoaster. The main problem I had was that at times the story was confusing, we went from one situation to something completely different with no explanation and at timeswas repetative.

What a really great story. There is so much to say, but a little review will not cover what a fantastic read Drive me crazy was. It was nice getting reacquainted with charaters I've read in Leaona's other books, it was like coming home. I enjoyed the story of Harper and Ridge. Harpers story and journey resonated with me on too many levels that I care to admit because her story parallels mine. For this reason I would highly recommend this read, as well as every other book written by Leaona. You won't be disappointed. I was limited to 5 stars, but if it was p0ssible, I would give much more.

I have loved this Crazy, Wonderful crew since I first met them in Book One Cherry Grove. The stories allow us to join their family through trials, tribulations, conquests, heart aches and LOVE.
This book is no exception. The story of Ridge and Harper is one that will take you places you are not sure your heart is ready for. You will laugh, you will cry, you will rant, but most of all you will fall in love with another Crazy addition to this Motley Crew of Misfit yet perfectly suited couples and family.
Congratulations on yet another fantastic Story Leaona💗💗

You don’t get to walk away

This is Ridge and Harpers’s second chance at love.
The author once again touches on some very real, scary and difficult parts of life. She gives us Harper another strong female lead and Ridge an equally sexy man to love her.
After several years apart the former friends/lovers must learn to communicate, trust themselves and each other and learn how to forgive. If they can’t do that they are doomed to fail.
We get to meet some new friends and catch up with some old ones which I personally love about her books. Everyone is there to support each other. Who wouldn’t want friends and family like that? Another wonderful read from this fantastic author.

Where do I even begin. Leaona has done it again ladies! This book is beautifully written and absolutely phenomenal. Leaona never ceases to amaze me with her writing and this book proves that once again, she's one of my favorites!

I've missed this clan and I'm so happy to have been able to read them again. Mack and Ridge crack me up, along with everyone else with their witty banter. Harper is such a strong woman and I love her dearly. Rumor, my dear Rumor..is the best written girl ever. She is absolutely hilarious! If you want to read all the words, I highly advise any of Leaona's books. You will fall in love with these characters and never be able to get enough of them!💙

My first experience reading a Leaona Luxx story and I wasn’t prepared for what I went through with this couple. Confusion, hurt, heartache, pain and through it all there was love. A love that is soul deep but even with a love like that you don’t necessarily get to keep it- life is sometimes a cruel taskmaster that wants you to go through some things to see if the love is really what is supposed to be in your life for always.

The “supporting” characters in this book are equally as important as they help in ways that Harper and Ridge may not even realize they need.

Fantastic all the way through!

Ridge and Harper are a one in a million couple. If all women could find a man like Ridge (just saying). What Harper went through with Weston was earth shattering. In the end, she had to believe in herself and love herself in order to fully give herself back to Ridge. I really loved that part in the book. All woman need to know this....love yourself first!
What an AMAZING storyteller Leaona is! Keep writing....we need more. ❤️

I received a free copy of this book.

Leaona is really good at giving all the feels in her stories. You can read this as a standalone, but you don’t want to. There is so much background, especially the relationships (friends, families, and couple), that you do not want to miss.

Harper and Ridge have spent a very long time pushing each other a way because of misunderstandings, multiple fears, insecurities, and rumors. I really didn’t see this story playing out the way it did at the first part of it, but WOW! I am never disappointed by these stories!

Overall I liked this book. Harper and Ridge liked each other in high school. Things were always complicated with them. Years later she is back but she is dealing with a bad relationship. Thankfully in the end her and Ridge finally get their happy ending.

I went into this book fully prepared (or so I thought) to feel all the feels.
I didn’t even make it through the dedication.

After reading all of Leaona’s previous books, my favorite being Wrecking Us Saving You, I didn’t think she could top that story.

Lesson learned. When I think she cannot out-do herself, she completely blows it out of the water.

Ridge and Harper have a love story that truly transcends time. A love that is formed when they are mere children, and despite circumstances that cause them to drift apart, they prove that love really can overcome obstacles and redeem them.

Reading this story, I found it so relatable as I lived this...i was separated from the love I thought would last forever when we were young, only to be brought back together later down the road.

I frantically scoured each word and devoured each page with tears flowing as I begged for the answers as to how the story would end...and then I cried when it did end and I wasn’t ready to let go of the characters.

Leaona has greatly outdone herself, and I cannot wait to be around for the journey as she continues to create masterpieces.

Thank you BookSprout and Leaona Luxx for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

WHAT I LIKED:
This book has a great storyline! Two high school crushes that have a falling out and don't find each other again until they are older is probably one of the most sought after tropes.. with having Harper go through such a horrible life until she finds Ridge again makes this the perfect love story. I was holding my breath reading about the hell that Harper was going through. I cheered her on when she packed up and left. I even had tears in my eyes when Ridges found out her biggest secret. This book is an emotional ride.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
There were parts of this that bothered me and made it difficult to read to the point where I would have to slow down and re-read it just to try and determine which character was speaking. There were also A LOT of people mentioned throughout this book, but it doesn't mention who her twin brother is until closer to the end. It also doesn't state what "One's" real name is until closer to the end. That name or nickname, threw me off more than once as it is just so odd.. The amount these two love each other is perfectly written, but the stupid circles they would go in about how "I'm not good enough for her" or "he'll never love me" is seriously annoying. Life has struggles, it gets hard and we all have doubts. I get it. But they had a "talk" to clear the air more than once and it still help either of them.

OVERALL / RECOMMENDATIONS:
I did enjoy this book. It is a simple love story showing that no matter what, family and friends will always be there when you need them to be. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy a cute high school romance troupe.
