Chitose Igara gets pulled deeper into the figure skating world of Kokoro Kijinami, creating more opportunities for romantic tension.
All the little jealousies, obtuseness, and lack of communication are simultaneously a little annoying and a little cute, but at least the characters seem to be more honest with themselves internally. And the skating competitions help add a little zing to the story and help push relationship developments along.
I'm liking most of the extended cast of characters even if there still seems to be too many of them -- and even more are added this volume! At least they are including a character guide at the start of the book now.
I have one more volume on hand from the library. Onward!

Just got done selling the series online because I was out once that one lady (I think she is the social manage for Kokoro?) lifted up Chitose's dress because Chitose commented she wasn't even dressed and the lady lifted up her dress saying yeah she should at least" get some panties on" so they can leave. 🫠🫠🫠
I don't care how take charge of a woman she may be, she had no right (or need) to do that. 😤
I skimmed ahead and just couldn't bring myself to even get to the very end.

I continue to adore this series, and I am really loving the direction this particular volume took. The romance continues to build in a way that makes me incredibly happy and excited to continue! I highly recommend this series!

This is a manga about a Male figure skater who is competing to be the best. He reconnects with his childhood friend only to realize he still has feelings for her.
This manga has a cute and somewhat angsty romance. The Male lead isn't always ideal in how he handles things and is often immature about them, but I do think this story is going to just get better as time goes on.
This manga left me on a cliffhanger and I'm glad the next one in the series will be out soon.

This volume keeps the pressure on our primary duo. Kokoro is under fire to heal and get back to his spot as Japan’s number one figure skater. Chitose is struggling to balance her journalism job with her newly outed position as Kokoro’s “inspirational trainer”.
There is also their own relationship to navigate, and the boundaries do seem to be shifting.
I like the main characters and find all the technical skating info to be quite interesting, but I want Chitose to stand up to everyone’s demands a bit more. She’s no doormat, but she does have trouble saying no.

I decided to read Knight of the Ice By Yayoi Ogawa (Vol.2) because I love watching Ice Skating (Olympics) and I love Yuri!!! On Ice (anime) so I thought I should try some sport Manga revolving around Ice Skating also Vol.1 ended in a cliffhanger. Once I started reading I was wondering what's going to happen between Chitose and Kokoro friendship and relationship! This story follows a woman named Chitose who is an magazine editor/writer who keeps getting distracted from her bestfriend named Kokoro Kijinami who is a international figure skater and is secretly a hopeless romantic otaku, only Chitose knows his secret. Kokoro is trying his best at competing but can't seem to make it right without the help of Chitose by recite a spell from his favorite magical girl anime to help him stay concentrated and inspired. The characters I like are Chitose Igari because she's a strong woman who is trying to do her best at her work also to support her best friend get through his figure skating competitions and I like Kokoro Kijinami because he's a figure skater who is trying to do his best under pressure and he's sensitive person who secretly loves Magical Princess Lady Lala anime. In this volume mostly has very emotional moments between Chitose and Kokoro friendship to it slowly becoming a relationship but with lots of misunderstanding and the people they're around aren't making the situation easier for them to become close again like in their childhood or more. There isn't really much ice skating events and not a lot of other ice skaters involved in the main storyline and I was hoping for it to have an even balance between their relationship & the skating events. Some of the side characters are still very stereotypical by how they act instead of realistic/mature to the two main characters. I wish the author went with a different diction with these characters. The art style is very classic romance Manga style with very beautiful characters but I wish the ice skating was fully shown in the story. I found Knight of the Ice By Yayoi Ogawa (Vol.2) interesting but not what I was hoping for and I'm not going to continue reading this series, it just wasn't for me. I would recommend this book to sport/romance Manga fans!

Yeah, this is a pretty mediocre series. It's okay, but nothing particularly special.
In this one, we have a silly plotline where a fan sees Kokoro arguing with Chitose after one of his competitions, so she posts an anonymous gossip column about it and gets a bunch of rumors circulating. To counter it, instead of just saying Chitose is a childhood friend or something, Kokoro's manager sets her up (without her consent) as one of Kokoro's trainers.
This does ultimately lead to Chitose getting more feature stories with her magazine, since the higher ups see this as an opportunity rather than a business conflict, and have her run an article series about Kokoro's health and nutritional journey.
One thing I'm not liking about these books is how sexually aggressive Kokoro's manager is. I'm not sure what's going on with her or if there's some sort of secret identity deal? There was that scene with the wig and all. But there are numerous scenes in this volume and the previous one of her outright sexually harassing Kokoro - putting his hands on her breasts and saying he can grope her instead of getting a girlfriend, wearing outfits with no underwear and repeatedly flashing him and Chitose, offering to take Kokoro's virginity for him...
It seems like Ogawa has a tendency to write Strong Women who are just...kind of aggressively unpleasant, honestly.
Chitose, meanwhile, is struggling with the idea of her own attractiveness, having been told by an ex-boyfriend that when she dolled herself up more, it "didn't suit her" and he liked her better the way she had been. Kokoro echoes this when his manager dresses her up for a party - and she runs out crying and trips in her heels, because it hurt her feelings.
Her boss, on the other hand, picks her up off the ground, tells her she looks lovely, and then gently coaches Kokoro through how to convey his feelings more effectively.
It's weird that her boss had seemed kind of smarmy at first but is actually kind of a decent guy. Maybe? Although he's apparently been carrying on a longterm affair with a married woman at work? Although Chitose suspects there's also a secret there.
The rest of the volume is about competition, with Kokoro pulling out a big jump to win but then injuring himself practicing that one too much, so he has to get pulled out of subsequent competitions.
I honestly find sports stories a little boring on the page, I think, so this series is probably not so much for me.

Same sense of fun and drama as the first volume, but the author makes some smart swerves away from a couple things that looked like the tropes were coming home to roost (okay, I worry that one might re-enter the picture, but for now...) and in one instance that morphs into another kick-ass moment for Chitose.
Chitose looks good when she lets herself dress up, not that her regular bun style is bad, but we find out the source of her lack of self-confidence in this volume. Which Kokoro blunders into re-enacting later on. Slow clap. At least he makes up for it.
There’s a lot of solid stuff here - Chitose and Kokoro are a great pair and you have to like how they support one another and each uses their affection for the other to help push them further and achieve more. They’re a great match. Chitose’s got real steel and determination and takes only so much crap - a definite step up from the usual heroines.
I won’t deny that Kokoro needs a little work though, since his general demeanour is that of a sulky, brooding pouty pants and he can smoulder at a moment’s notice. His main problem is that he brings most of his problems on himself - while there’s nothing wrong with being an otaku, there kind of is if it’s kept you from growing up emotionally. There are hints he might be getting it, but he’s definitely the less mature of our pair.
The ice skating stuff is fun - I’m sure it’s solid if that is in any way your jam (it’s not mine, but I still like this series a bunch). Kokoro’s manager and Chitose’s boss remain interesting side characters and there are some funny scenes (Kokoro getting dissed by his imagination is a treat).
I think the only major negative is the looming appearance of Kokoro’s parents, who appear to stand ready to inject some old fashioned villainy into the story. Look, nobody in fiction has ever wielded a brandy snifter and turned out to be a force for good, I’m just saying.
Still, this is well done romance that is on an expected course but also has a vein of uniqueness that it mines to make it more interesting. I mean, you can tell it’s a fantasy because a print magazine just increased its circulation by 10,000... but it’s definitely worthwhile.

Today’s post is on Knight of the Ice, Vol. 2by Yayoi Ogawa. It is 178 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. On the cover has Kokoro in an action pose. As it is the second in the series you need to have read the first volume. The intended reader is someone who likes josei manga. There is mild foul language, discussion of sex and sexuality, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the two main characters, Chitose and Kokoro. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

Review- Kokoro has come to the realization that he is in love with Chitose and he doesn’t know what to do next. Chitose is trying to manage helping him and her career and in this volume they start to collide. Her job normally does not let its workers have second jobs but because Kokoro is a rising star in Japan and in figure skating, she gets to make a feature about him and his training for her magazine. Most of the volume is getting Chitose in place to realize her feelings for Kokoro too. But drama is on the horizon with Kokoro hurting himself and confessing to Chitose. This manga is fun and I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship is going to move from here.
I give this manga a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Knight of the Ice follows Kokoro who is a professional figure skater and his friend, Chitose who is a career woman. Kokoro believes he cannot perform without a spell that Chitose puts on him from their favorite TV show as a kid.
Excuse me while I go scream about how adorable this manga volume was but also how heart breaking. I'm only two volumes into this manga and I already love it.
First off, the artwork is stunning and I LOVE how they depict the figure skating in this. I feel transported into the world when I am reading this manga. It's so well done and I love it so much.
Secondly, the PLOT! I was freaking out throughout this whole plot especially during two parts: the heart and the outfit. That's all I'll say without wanting to spoil this manga. I can already tell this magna is going to be an emotional roller coaster and it's going to have me in my feels. I am so excited to continue on.

I'm glad I kept going with this manga because this volume just got better. It had a perfect blend of Kokoro competing and Chitose and Kokoro realizing what they mean to each other and even Chitose admitting her true feelings. We start to see the dynamics of their friendship changing and I'm loving every second of it. And oh my goodness I just love the art for this manga and seeing Chitose dolled up is the most beautiful thing ever.

I am loving the inclusion of more figure skating moments! And the romance is so sweet and innocent like. The ending makes needing the third volume a need. The art is still impressing me and I like that Chitose's boss is playing the wingman to Kokoro. I hope that continues cause nothing sucks more than a man that can't take no for an answer.

Am... am I becoming a Yayoi stan? I am really digging both series I am reading from them currently (this one and You're My Pet). These kind of came out of left field for me, I didnt expect to love them as much as I am but I am really enjoying my time with them.

The first volume was a little dry, but this one was quite a bit better. I’m intrigued by the development with Chitose’s boss, and some of those interactions were fun. I didn’t expect her feelings to be mentioned so early, so I’m curious where it’ll go after that cliffhanger.

This is about Chitose and Kokoro. He's an ice skating champion that reconnects with his childhood friend and muse. The connection between the two of them is building really well, and they are super cute together.

The main characters are very cute independently and together but their communication is annoyingly bad. I am also frustrated by both of the main side characters. I want to like this series but it's almost frustrating to read.

I liked this but his manager (I think) is wild and the chikan of the series... it really is unnecessary. But I like our two main characters. I am interested in wondering what the dad will have to do with anything. But honestly, the gossip about her BOSS! wild! MY EYEBALLS WERE SO WIDE!
