After finally getting settled in Bonita Springs, Lucky John's world is thrown for a loop when one of his biggest enemies, Rascal Mangrove, comes asking for his help. Now, with a mystery unlike any other he's ever faced spooling out around him, John has to work as hard as he ever has to get to the bottom of it. And, in the end, he'll find that the truth is closer than he ever imagined, and that his luck just might have run out.

This is book 3 in Stone's Lucky John Adventures series and can easily be read / listened to as a standalone. A wonderful mix of characters that always add surprises to the fun and suspenseful storylines. In this book our hero Lucky John is at it again, ready to save the day. Only this time, he finds himself more the target than anyone else and the hero that he is, won't let him put others in danger. I love the action, adventure as well as the underlying romance that each of the books in this series holds. I also adore the dynamic between Lucky and his best friend Davey. A Lucky John book wouldn't be complete without the antics of Davey! Narration by Holtz is perfection! I get lost in his vocals - his smooth timber makes following this story all the better. Love these short and exciting listens and can't wait to see what adventures await next!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Fun read but as a reader and researcher, I think Mark gets a bit swept up in the flow, to the point of overlooking the realities of mechanics, location and real life dialog. Off the cuff having someone casually remove spark plugs from two cars to immobilize them is interesting sounding but not a real thing. Try it. These types of misses are easily avoided with thoughtful proofing, also, using three words where less would be better many times. Rampant misuse of a cheap thesaurus app is also irksome. These type of things leap off the page to me and color the enjoyment I get from a damn rollicking story. I did love these new authors (English doesn't seem to be their first language sometimes. . lol). Keep writing sir!
As a!ways I enjoyed the John Lucky stories. One thing that does but me is that you call boats ships and a yacht is anything but a ship. Check your resources for the definition of a ship. I'm waiting for the next book to be released. I like all of the characters but how about not dumbing Davey down so much. If he was smart enough to help.keep John a!I've during desert storm then he should be smart enough to help out in J ohn's adventures.
Another wish is that I didn't have to write a novel when reviewing books for kindle. There shouldn't be a minimum .
Another smash hit from this author! The story is exciting and action filled. The characters are still awesome and give me a thrill wondering what they will do next. I hope Davey never leaves the pages because he has some magic glue that pulls it all together adding in laughs along the way! In here he gets to hang out with someone he doesn’t care for and they bicker and argue like kids. So great!
I listened to this on audio. Jeffrey Holz is outstanding as all these characters. I look forward to hearing more of him in this continuing series!
Brilliant narration from Jeffrey Holz, who brings out the humour and action
We have action and adventure John always seem to stumbles into situations.. Rascal is known for being a petty criminal and trouble maker. The authorities aren’t taking his brother’s disappearance very seriously. Rascal came looking for John’s help. The characters are brilliant and full of humour
This is the third book in the now six book series and I'm still really enjoying this Lucky John saga. Looking forward to continuing into book four. So glad Mark Stone just came out with book six.
So far, I am enamored of the fact that this set of stories isn’t about some over-the-top testosterone-charged he-man swooping in on a different lady in each chapter.
I love this series. It's fun, campy, with drama and mystery. John Lucky has mishaps, and adventures. It's light, and entertaining. Jeffrey Holz narration is very enjoyable and captivating making a wonderful listen. #the flock
