See Anew the Unfolding Story of God's Grace This study guide is designed to help you connect more deeply to the overarching storyline of God’s unfolding grace from Genesis through Revelation. Created as a companion to Unfolding 40 Guided Readings through the Bible , this workbook is intended for individual and small group study alike. Each of the seven parts features a short synopsis followed by reflection questions to take you deeper into the story of Scripture and encourage reflection on key biblical themes.
Drew Hunter (MA, Wheaton College) is a teaching pastor at Zionsville Fellowship in Zionsville, Indiana. Previously he served as a minister for young adults at Grace Church of DuPage and taught religious studies at College of DuPage. Hunter is the author of Isaiah: A 12 Week Study and Matthew: A 12 Week Study. He and his wife, Christina, have three young boys.
The Unfolding Grace Study Guide is a helpful companion for exploring God’s unfolding plan of redemption. I recommend it for those who hope to spend more time in God’s Word and actually live it out.
Redemption, Kingdom, Restoration, and the Gospel
The study guide is divided into seven parts. A short synopsis is followed by several reflection questions. These questions were designed to help you reflect on key biblical themes. Redemption, Kingdom, Restoration, and the Gospel are highlighted.
The study questions and introductions were written by pastor Drew Hunter, who also wrote the chapter summaries and storylines through Unfolding Grace. This makes for a cohesive and comprehensive experience.
Sample Questions
Here are some sample questions from Part 5: The Hope of Restoration. In regards to Isaiah 52-55, (1) What are the key aspects of who the Lord’s servant is and what he accomplishes? (2) What do you know about Jesus that makes it clear he fulfills the role of this servant? (3) How does this section make clear that the salvation the servant provides is utterly gracious and free for even the worst of sinners who receive it?
You can see how the questions are theological in nature and stick to the storyline. There are 5 lines below each question for you to write down your answers.
From Devotional Readings to Serious Study
The 80 pages feature thick, cream-colored paper for note taking and Smyth-sewn and lay-flat binding. It is designed in such a way that you will actually want to use it, take it with you, and share what you have learned.
This study guide will help you take your time in God’s Word from devotional readings to serious study. It will work for individual study, in a small group setting, or as a church-wide campaign. It’s a beautiful thing to see the story of God’s unfolding grace continues to be lived out in the lives of his people.
I received a media copy of the Unfolding Grace Study Guide and this is my honest review.
This study guide is meant to accompany Unfolding Grace Guided Reading book. You should go check that out 1st! Now that you’re back, this study guide looks like it would bring rich discussion to a Bible study group. I can also imagine an individual greatly benefitting from this study, especially someone with little familiarity with the Bible. Like all Bible studies and commentaries, it can’t do all things. The Bible is far to rich for that! But this presents major themes and passages clearly and helps the reader see the Bible as one cohesive text working to show the glory, grace, and Salvation God offers humanity. I hope you will be blessed with this study. (This guide was provided to me as a free review copy by the publisher for an honest review.)
