When Lyleia Naiad was head-hunted by Brimstone, Inc., for her job as Executive Assistant to a high-powered billionaire demigod, she was given one directive—do NOT fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. Doesn’t matter if he’s the son of Zeus and can electrify a room with a single glance. As an ex-nymph, she possesses a unique ability—a gift from the goddesses to protect nymphs from the randy gods—to resist her boss's charms.
Or so she thought.
He insists she accompany him to an alpha wolf shifter mating ceremony, an event where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes...and inhibitions.
Goddesses save her, because Castor has stolen into Lyleia’s heart, and she’s not so sure she can hold out much longer...

Lyleia may have lost her spring hundreds of years before, as well as the love of her sisters, but the nymph never lost her sense of duty, pride, humor or her rare ability to ignore the powerful charms of her boss, the demigod, Castor. Okay, two out of three abilities are intact, but after all, nymphs are sexual beings, and the man is smoking hot as well as clueless to her feelings. Castor goes through women like a shopaholic goes through money, because his heat still belongs to the wife he lost eons before.
When Castor needs a companion to take to a werewolf wedding, he leaves Lyleia no choice but to go. What could be a nymph’s dream-come-true, turns into a heart-wrenching face to face with the evil were who cost Lyleia her spring. In a battle of good vs evil, can a demigod trump a powerful were? Will Lyleia need him to? Will their sizzling attraction be their death or the start of something eternal?

The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen Brimstone Inc. series #1. Mythology based paranormal romance. Lyleia Naiad is an ex-nymph. She should have no problem with the directive to not fall in love with her boss, Castor Dioskouri, even though he’s the son of Zeus. But an office environment is very different than a shared hotel room and an alpha wolf shifter mating ceremony where sex is open and pheromones rampant. How is she going to protect her heart?
🎧 narration is performed by Marnye Young who creates a wonderful play of characters that brings them to life.
She’s lost her water source, he’s lost his wife. Both have had a lot of difficult years on their own. The mating ceremony forces them both to confront their pasts when danger threatens their lives. Go it alone or work together? Intrigue and intricacies, sex and romance, danger and family. A story that won’t let you go. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
I enjoyed this first story in the Brimstone Inc PNR series! A water nymph Lyleia banished from her home finds a place as assistant to sexy CEO, and demigod (son of Zeus) Castor. They've maintained a professional distance despite a mutual (but unacknowledged) attraction, but when Lyleia accompanies Castor to a wolf shifter mating, their chemistry turns into a heated affair. There's drama, there's passion, there's revenge from the werewolf responsible for Lyleia's predicament who has tracked her down at the mating, and there's some innovative characters and worldbuilding along with some sexy scenes to make for a great escape read. Definitely recommended if you're looking for some something new in the paranormal romance genre!

The Demigod Complex is the first book I read by A.O. I liked the storyline and the characters I am looking forward to Dahlias story. Overall this book was good.
If you are looking for a light romance that has a good strong chemistry between its couple then this story ticks all the boxes. I loved that the author gave us a paranormal romance with a mythological twist. Leia is a Nymph but sadly she's no longer bound to her own body of water and instead works as an assistant to a demigod. Castor has known love but after his wife died knew he could never love again so a Nymph who is oblivious to his Godlike charms is the perfect choice. Hmm slight problem with that idea because Castor is waking up to the idea that having Leia around forever is the perfect choice but she seems determined to leave him so he definitely will need to do something about that ! For me as much as I liked this I did feel I'd missed out on something. Perhaps there is a prequel that I've missed because a lot of the plot centres around a Shifter mating but I did enjoy it and it was a fun afternoon read. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I made it halfway through before giving this one up. I didn't connect to the characters, sort of liked Leia, not so much with Castor. Both seemed to be hiding so much. Once I realized I didn't care what they were hiding I decided that was enough, this one just wasn't for me.
Castor Has enlisted the Help of his beautiful Nymph employee to attend a mating ceremony, hes hoping the pheromones from the trip will reveal if there is any spark there, unfortunately during their trip They run into evil were Kaios.
wasn't my favorite read... But it wasn't bad either!
The Demigod Complex is a fun spin on the Greek gods and nymphs. I so enjoyed Castor and Lyleia’s story that it was impossible for me to put it down.
Leia is a nymph who lost her spring and – by extension – her family centuries ago after angering a powerful entity. She’s never been fully happy since, but she’s come back to life working as Castor Dioskouri’s Executive Assistant. Though he’s the son of Zeus, his demigod status doesn’t prevent Castor from also knowing loss. He’s been living half a life since his wife died so long ago. He requested Brimstone, Inc. send him an assistant who wouldn’t fall for his charms, which is why they sent Leia, whose powers as a nymph provide her with a natural resistance to gods. What that natural resistance doesn’t cover is the attraction between the two that springs naturally. It’s clear from the start that Castor and Leia are made for each other. But both are afraid to open their hearts and take a risk; Leia especially since she fears an old enemy may be coming for her again. But when the two attend an alpha wolf shifter mating, the additional pheromones may be enough to get them to lose their inhibitions and take a chance on a happily ever after that would last for eternity.
There’s a crackling energy between Castor and Leia that makes it easy to fall into their romance. Author Abigail Owen knows how to pack a punch in a short space and sets the foundation for the romance quickly allowing readers to be swept up in a love story that’s both sexy and heartwarming. Leia and Castor are both powerful and protective in their own ways and I absolutely adored these two. Ms. Owen weaves mythology wonderfully into this modern day boss/secretary romance and the appearance of gods, nymphs, and shifters give familiar tropes a fresh new feel. All in all, The Demigod Complex is a fast-paced, sensual, action-packed read and I cannot wait to see what’s next in the Brimstone Inc. series!

Romantic - Paranormal - Hero -Quick read! I chose this to read knowing that Owen always offers a great escape for the soul. Lyleia is a Nymph with a past that she is afraid has found her again. She is in the employ of Demigod Castor Dioskouri who hired her as an assistance because she also wanted no romantic entanglements. Traveling to Colorado for a werewolf wedding this couple will face their pasts and strive for their HEA. "A copy of this book was provided by Entangled via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." LOOK FORWARD TO MORE OF THIS SERIES!!
A quick read that blends supernatural creatures and mythological ones in a modern setting. I was expecting a little more office romance, but they don’t spend much time there. I did enjoy the chemistry between Leia and Castorthough. The series idea is interesting as well, following different couples set up by the same supernatural headhunter/matchmaker. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more.

The Demigod Complex is the first book in the Brimstone Inc. series and tells the story of Lyleia and Castor.
The Demigod Complex is the third book I’ve read by Abigail Owen. I’ve read another book by her and another one from her pen name, Kadie Scott. I really liked those other books so it was no surprise that I really liked this book too! The story was really interesting and I like reading books with multiple paranormal characters!
I really liked the characters and I’m such a sucker for boss/assistant Romance! I just cannot get enough of it because it’s kind of forbidden but hot at the same time! I loved how protective Castor was and Leia was such a strong character. She faced some people that did her wrong but she kept looking them in the eyes. I love a strong female protagonist! And Castor and Leia are just perfect for each other. I cannot get enough of them!
I really liked The Demigod Complex, it was another amazing book by Abigail Owen! The story was well written and fast paced! I’m looking forward to the next book in the Brimstone Inc. series because it’ll be about Dahlia!
I fell in love with this funny romantic tale. Lyeia is a nymph who is the executive assistant for Castor as in son of Zeus and twin to Pollux. He is a handsome, sexy playboy Demi God and he's insisting that she accompany him to a good friends werewolf mating ceremony. As much as Lyeia wants to refuse ( seeing as she is slowly falling for the man that seems to be dating a new women every week ) she can't, he explains he needs her to keep all the women away once the sex pheromones kick in during the ceremony. Ok so technically she is mostly immune to the charms of others resisting him may be too much even for her..ummm hmmm wow the whole situation sounds fun to me! Any who so against her better judgment she joins him. What an adventure that turns into. The attraction that has been slowly growing between these two is tested in a hot sexy way ; ) That's not all though secrets surface and both of their lives are put in danger will there new found love be strong enough to overcome the obstacles thrown their way? Gods, demigods, nymphs, werewolves, betrayal, love, redemption and most importantly an HEA seriously what's not to love!
This story was very fun and cute, Ms. Owen’s innovative vision for the familiar trope made for a delightful read. It has the contemporary trope of a billionaire boss and his secretary/assistant mixed with the dynamic twist of the paranormal using demigods, werewolves, and other paranormal beings to spice things up. There was just the right amount of description in regards to the world building, the characters, and the storytelling itself which besides having a touch of humor to it had steamy scenes involving Lyleia and Castor. I would certainly recommend this story to someone looking for a well-known trope with a remarkable flavor added to it. Castor is Demigod, his not up himself and is quite considerate for a boss, but he does insist his PA attends a mating ceremony with him.
Lyleia, she is a water nymph without a spring. She enjoys her job working for Castor but she doesn't stay in one place for too long and her time at this job is coming to an end but first she has to go on a trip with her too-hot boss.
I've read this author before and enjoy her writing so this was an easy read for me, one I enjoyed too.
There is chemistry between these two and their story has plenty to keep you entertained, including a baddie.....
This book was published before but has a had an overhaul and fab new cover.
This is yet another great book by this author. I really loved this plot as it kept me wanting to read more! The end made it sound like there might be more to come which will be great!! This author has a way of writing her characters so that you feel like you know them so by the end you want them to end happy ever after just as bad as they do! Unless your character is the bad wolf then you just want someone to kick his butt ;)
Castor really appreciates his lady's attributes, "he grunted his amusement as she peeled his arm from her. Not bothering to cover up, she padded across the room naked. “I could get used to that sight in the mornings.” I liked this book, I liked Castor.
Lyleia is Castor's executive assistant and she's also a nymph but she lost her spring (powers) because she was betrayed. She still has the power to resist the pull of any supernaturals but she still feels attracted to Castor who is a demigod.
Castor needs Lyleia to accompany him to a mating ceremony and be a buffer for him since these things end up making all involved, even the guests feel very much like having sex and he's hoping that having her there with him will keep the females away.
Castor is a demigod, son of Zeus. He's been sorta lusting after Leia which is weird since he hasn't felt much in the love department in a while, but his heart is telling him that there's something real between them, he just has to make her believe it too.
Going to the mating ceremony proved to be a bad decision as someone from her past was there and he wanted her dead. She thought she had a stalker, someone who had been breaking into her apartment and now she knew for sure who it was. When Castor finds out who is after her and why, his protective instincts take over and he helps her. He's a demigod so he pretty powerful and if she's to fight this person and win, she'll need his help in the end.
Because of the danger, the pheromones at the mating ceremony and the lust they already felt for each other that they've held back for so long, when they finally give into what they feel it was quite powerful. Their romance is sweet and hot. I laughed so many times during this book because of something that one of them would say and I love when a book can make me laugh. This was a fun book to read and a great way to start off a new series. I look forward to reading more now.
Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book for free in exchange for a review via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen Brimstone Inc. #1
Water nymp Leia has worked for demigod Castor for about a year when she feels it may be time to move on even though there seems to be chemistry between them. Rumor is that he is unable to love again and she is immune to demigods...only rumors, I believe. When they go together to a wolf mating ceremony and she runs into a wolf-shifter from her past that is not a friend, well, things become complicated. What they have to deal with definitely requires paranormal abilities and has the potential of drawing them closer together or driving them apart.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? I think so
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.
This was pretty good! For a novella, it packs a surprising amount of plot. The romance seemed a bit rushed, but I guess that's unavoidable in a 100-page story. Still, it was steamy, interesting and fun. Just not groundbreaking, a bit out of sight, out of mind, you know?
"The Demigod Complex" is the first book in the "Brimstone INC" series by Abigail Owen. This was such a great start to a series and allowed me to see what to expect when I read others. Lyleia is a nymph and goes to work for Castor, who is a Demigod. She does a great job trying not to fall for her boss. Castor has Lyleia go with him to an event for the wolves. The hotel scene had me chuckling. My favorite scene was when Lyleia encounters the one wolf, and Castor lets her defend herself and stand up to the wolf. I moved right on to the next book after reading this book.
4.5 Stars! Abigail Owen is a new-to-me author. I’ve read one of her books under her Kadie Scott pen name, and really liked her stories and writing style.
Summary: Lyleia “Leia” Naiad needed purpose. Something to help her pull herself out of the anger and despair she’s felt for so many years. Her connection with Legendary Consultants landed her a gig as Executive Assistant to a high-powered (pun intended) billionaire. Her only warning was to not fall in love with him. As he’s a demigod with success and good looks to spare, it’s not an easy command to follow. But Leia is unique. As a nymph, she has the ability to withstand her boss’s considerable charms. At least, she thought she did. A year into the job and Leia is pretty sure she’s fallen head over heels for the commanding Castor “Cas” Dioskouri. This is unexpected for several reasons. No man, god, or demigod has ever gotten close to capturing her heart. She’s numb to their attention and attempts. She’s also a failure at the one thing she was made for. Losing her Spring taught her that. And there’s the little fact that Cas is still very much in love with his deceased wife. There’s no way a failed nymph can compete. But when they both must attend a werewolf mating ceremony, the surprises keep coming. Werewolf matings are known for their lusty environments since pheromones are flying, and along with them inhibitions and clothing. Can Leia resist her irresistible boss when her heart wants nothing more than to give in and unleash the nymph within? And how does Cas fit in when her past demons come barreling back in her present?
***************************** Her Demigod Complex was an unexpected find. I had read a Kadie Scott romance and really liked the writing style. In the process of researching the author, I found Kadie wrote under Abigail Owen as well. I chose this book to test her out, and I loved it. Her Demigod Complex reminds me of an office romance with a heavy dose of mythology and fantasy, plus some steam. It was the perfect, quick read. Lyleia was a pretty awesome heroine. Smart, classy, and independent, she was a survivor and didn’t take crap lying down. She also had a great sense of humor. Castor wasn’t what I expected, being a Demigod. He had a commanding presence and from the text, you could feel his leashed power. That said, his arrogance wasn’t overbearing, and he did whatever necessary to help others. He was smart, strong, protective, and possessive. All my favorite qualities. I loved Castor and Lyleia together. I enjoyed seeing the tension build between them. I liked that their feelings weren’t sudden. Although we don’t see it, they gradually come to know and like each other over a year’s period. They even generate some steam when they both decide to give in to the irresistible lust. Overall, this was an entertaining read that seamlessly wove romance with Greek Mythology. The mythology is one of the main reasons I picked the book up. It’s one of my favorite topics to read about, and I always find it fascinating. Ms. Owen did a wonderful job fitting classic mythology into the modern world. The characters were fun and likeable, and the storyline easy to follow. I’m curious about Delilah and her reason behind these pairings, but I’m hoping to find out more about her while reading the next books. ♡
