Three Love Stories Set in the Romantic Regency Era
The Earl and His Lady: Virginia, Lady Heatherton, is a widow desperate to save her children. Lucas Calvert, an earl wearied by the world and tired of being alone, searches for purpose. They come together in a marriage of convenience. Virginia and her children bring light and color back into Lucas’s life. But will Virginia’s determination to protect her heart destroy their possibility of finding happiness together?
Miss Devon's Choice: Rebecca Devon lives under the severe eye of her aunt and the iron will of her father. Freedom will only come through marriage, but her hopes for a happy union are stolen away when her father arranges her marriage to a complete stranger. Christian Hundley, Lord Easton, has learned the hard way that English society will not accept him, and he has hidden himself away from scornful eyes for years. If the whole of society cannot accept him, why would a bride?
Courting the Vicar's Daughter: Harry Devon, son of a wealthy gentleman who cared more for money than his family, has returned to the family estate at last. Harry is prepared to leave it to others to make the difficult decisions. Until he meets the vicar's daughter. In the habit of serving others, Daisy determines to help Harry find his path and place in their community. When he embraces her plan with enthusiasm, their friendship begins to blossom into something more.
Sally Britton is sixth generation Texan, received her BA in English forever ago, and reads voraciously. She started her writing journey at the tender age of fourteen on an electric typewriter, and she’s never looked back.
Sally lives in Oklahoma with her husband, four children, and their overly energetic Australian Shepherds, cat, and snake named Nancy. She loves researching, hiking, and eating too much chocolate.
The Earl and His Lady - I think this is my favorite book so far in this series. I love Lucas and Virginia! The love they have for Charles and Abigail is beautiful and the fact that they don't want either of them to forget the other is so sweet. I really liked Lucas in The Social Tutor, but I love him in this book. He is the perfect hero again and again. I love the way he interacts with the boys. He is so good and patient with them. I only wish we'd found out what he did with Edward's drawings. That got lost somewhere in the story. Virginia is a wonderful mom and has a lot of love to share. I loved Lucas and Virginia together. Beautiful story.
Miss Devon's Choice - This has been a fun series. I'm so happy the Devon girls all get a HEA in spite of their horrible father. Rebecca has been under her aunt and father's thumbs for a couple years now, but she still manages to keep her independent and romantic side to her. After The Social Tutor I was worried she'd lose herself. Christian is such an interesting character, but I liked him almost from the beginning. He's had such a rough life, but still has a lot to learn. I loved Rebecca's family's involvement in this book and how the men all took to Christian quickly. They all have a lot of love to give and it is fun to read. Christian was a great hero. I loved the little things he kept doing for Rebecca. It was so sweet. They make a very sweet couple.
Courting the Vicar's Daughter - Knowing this book was coming out soon, I binged on the series over the last couple weeks. I am so glad I did, because this was a wonderful series. I loved getting to know the Gilberts, Devons and Calverts. Harry being the youngest of them all had some growing up to do and finding his place in the world. Luckily he found an outspoken lady who was willing to help guide him. I loved Daisy from the very beginning. She is such a wonderful woman going about helping others and following her dreams. I love that they brought out the best in each other. This book made me laugh and cry, but I really enjoyed it. I loved Lord Annesbury's ball and seeing the family all together again. A perfect ending to the series.
Three very different stories make up this boxed set ending the Branches of Love series. The fifth is my favorite. Rebecca and Christian's story had me turning pages until I finished. Rebecca is just so lovable, and Christian is a decent man who has not known love for a long time. They are thrown together in an arranged marriage, but it seems only Rebecca wants to make the best of it.
The fourth book makes for a good love story, but I found it a little boring. Virginia is heartbroken when her true love dies, leaving her a widow with two children. Lucas has no desire to marry again after losing the love of his life. When the two marry, we hope that their union will become more than a kind deed for Lucas and a desperate choice for Virginia.
Finally, we learn about Harry. His character is light and loveable. I think he is too good for self-righteous Daisy. She is one lucky girl to have the likes of Harry chasing after her. I'm still figuring out how I feel about the couple.
I don´t know if I should admit to it, but I read the whole series in a week and I have to say that I loved the whole thing. I would argue that the books be read in order because they are each so lovely, and if you are going to read them all you might as well read them in order. And when you finish the series you will be so content because even though they all could be stand-alone novels, the series has its own story arc and you will feel like you have grown up with family and the people they have become. The character development is amazing. Sally Britton has really created a lovely and enchanting series with these books. If you love Sarah Eden´s Jonquil books...you might love this series more. It is clean. I am excited to keep following this author. :)
What a delightful set of stories! I thoroughly enjoyed the very likable, very real-feeling characters as they experienced real life growing pains and were challenged by the twists and turns in the story line. Being in a box set, it was intriguing to be reacquainted with characters from earlier books, getting a glimpse of how their lives moved forward. I found it hard to put each book down.
Enjoyed being transported into another time in history. The values of kindness love and family bring a warm feeling in reading. Enjoy this author's books and look forward to reading more of her 'sweet romances. I would recommend her to those who are fed up with 'steamy books with little or no plot" .
Throughly enjoyed reading this stories, over this rainy December weekend. Strong characters along with some insightful words on human nature. Would read this author again
This was three great stories. Three sisters and a brother, each finding the loves of their lives. Each had a difficultly time, but true love prevailed. You will enjoy reading this clean historical romance.
Britton's stories are among the best Regency romances I have read. Her history is impeccable, her characters unique without being absurd, her plots unfailingly interesting.
Even though I have read these before, I think I enjoyed them just as much the second time. Each one was different and all were good. Good clean romance.
I have just started to enjoy reading books by this author and will be looking for more. The plots are a little more interesting than many of those that I've read in this genre and the characters well done.
Appropriate for the time period. I found the stories interesting with concern of reputation and societal standards of the time. Love prevails despite the obstacles encountered.
Again a very enjoyable selection of stories. My favourites in this set was 4 & 5. I love your stories sally and the way you write. You have a beautiful way of expressing yourself. Now onto Inglewood. Books 1-5
loved each story in this box set. the branches of love stories are so well intertwined, unique, and enjoyable. my favorite of the bunch must be Miss Devon's Choice!
I truly enjoyed this series. The characters were interesting and the plots believeable. Highly recommend the entire series and other books by this author.
Actually I should say thoroughly enjoyable. Her characters maintain their personalities with consistency and act in accordance.. Delightful romances with a. Twist.
Sally Britton is one of my favorite authors. It was a joy to stay up late finishing the last book in this series. Can't wait to see what the next holds.
All of these were good sweet romances. Clean and good period pieces. I liked all the characters and how different they were even though they intertwined.
