From USA Today Bestselling Author Jolie Day comes Accidental Roommate, a stand-alone romance novel for fans of second chance romance plots dripping with sexual tension. Be prepared for one hot bedtime story!
Jolie Day is a romance author with a knack for steam. She invites readers to abandon inhibitions and melt into the pages. Alpha men, boyish charms, rugged good looks – her books take you on a thrill ride of suspense and seduction. Do you want to read about the knight in shining armor willing to do anything to protect his woman? Then her books are for you.
Mya never thought she'd see Ethan again after he ghosted her and her brother. But now years later, he's in her life again. Will this be their second chance?
This is a sweet brother's friend romance. It's not the most original one of its kind, but it's entertaining and likable.
Maya needs a place to stay but can she handle staying with her brother’s best friend and the guy who broke her heart in high school? Sparks fly between them as they spend time together but what will happen when she finds out why Ethan left the first time. Sweet, with plenty of drama and steam. Great characters and an entertaining read. I liked it.
I am one of the lucky ones who received an "early viewing" of 'Accidental Roommate.' When I got to the end of the story, on the 2nd last page, Ms. Day left a brief note asking to notify her of any spelling or grammatical error so she could fix them before releasing. I started to laugh out loud because I realized that I had gotten so involved in Ethan and Maya's story that if there had been any errors, my mind "auto-corrected" them! No lie, no boosting of egos, no favouritism towards Ms. Day; I became thoroughly immersed in their lives, not putting the book down once. I had been in the process of making myself a coffee with a french press, and it sat cold on the counter, one foot asleep the other tingly from standing still for so long. Ethan and Maya's interactions, conversations, car rides, and sexual moments are so well written that it feels like you are right there, a voyeur being privy to their lives. I even went back, re-read the book to look for errors as I didn't want other readers who get distracted from this enthralling story by poor editing and, I maybe lastest three chapters before once again losing myself in this romantic love story.
This was a good read. Maya needs a place to live now that she has graduated from college. She ends up looking at a place and it just happens to be Ethan's house. They had a moment years ago and neither forgot but now years later they are given another shot. Of course they have some issues but it all works out in the end.
I really like this book and it's a solid four stars but, I do have a couple of things that bothered me while reading.
First, the title is confusing and I thought the storyline would go down a whole different path. It is not by accident that Mia becomes Ethan's roommate. It is more like happenstance that Mia is in search of a place to live after graduation and Ethan, her brother's friend, whom she hasn't seen or heard from in five years after sharing a heart-stopping kiss, is renting out his spare bedroom. Mia is hurt and has decided in her head not to like Ethan but, she is in a dilemma. It is more like the 'Reluctant or Desperate Roommate' that Maya becomes because she needs to find a place to live instead of her friend's sofa.
Second, Ethan is only two years older then Maya and yet, there are mentions of age gaps, Maya's too young to understand Ethan's choices and Maya has yet to live her life and therefore, Ethan is no love match. I could understand this line of thinking if there was at least five years or more age difference. Maya is eighteen and Ethan twenty when they shared that first kiss. It just throws the balance of the story off for me.
Third, the story does start out with Ethan being so private and somewhat secretive which, made him a bit annoying. He knows Maya wants answers and he keeps stonewalling her and refuses to talk about their past. It also, takes a while for Ethan to give glimpses into his professional life as well. It seems odd when he has climbed his way out of poverty into New York's wealthy elite and globetrotting to meet his clients and partners. He is so closed off by it that he seems guilty for how he has come by his money.
Fourth, Maya holds on to her grudge with such a tight grip that it makes her look like a five year old not getting her way. She tries to seal herself off from her re-emerging emotions for Ethan and backs off from him. However, their next encounter she flirts with him. Maya's confusion and hot/cold with Ethan is a bit overplayed.
Aside from my little quirks about the book, I do really like it. Ethan becomes the man wothy of Maya's love and Maya finally realizes that Ethan is not out to hurt her. My favorite scene in the book is when Maya can't sleep and she has read all of her own books. She goes to one of Ethan's book shelves for something and she finds more than a book. It made my heart melt and it turns their whole story in the right direction.

I so enjoyed this book by Jolie Day about Maya a young woman who works as a barista in the Metropolitan Museum of Art until she can put her education to use as a museum guide and Ethan, the man she has been crushing over every since they shared a kiss in his car one night five years ago. Ethan left town soon after without another word to her or her brother, or so she thought. She’s determined to make her mark in New York, where he has already been successful on Wall Street. Maya is on a mission to find an apartment to rent with a roommate and when she sets up an appointment to view yet another place, she is shocked to find that the owner who she would be sharing the apartment is none other than Ethan. While he can well afford the beautiful apartment with the posh furniture, he travels a lot and wants someone there to keep an eye on things. She is hesitant to even consider being his roommate when he’s grown from a good looking guy to a handsome and ripped man who still mesmerizes her. There is plenty of romance, sexual chemistry but a bit more angst for that matter then I care for, which made the storyline a little sluggish in the early chapters to keep this gem from a five star rating.

At first I thought, why would a billionaire need a roommate, but it becomes apparent. It was good, liked Ethan and Maya and writing effortly flowed while reading. Received an ARC from author for honest review. Maya is close with her brother, Ricky and Ricky and Ethan are bestfriends, 2 years older than Maya. Maya has been crushing on Ethan and doesn't believe that he sees her. All of the girls in HS want Ethan and he loves em and leaves em. Well things get hot and heavy one day between Ethan and Maya and he leaves town the next day never to be heard from again. Maya is devastated and Ricky is livid. Years later, chance encounter bring them together and both are shocked to see the other. Out of desperation, Maya becomes Ethan's roommate and it seems they pick up from where they left off. What will Maya tell Ricky as she has been avoiding telling him about Ethan. A lot happens good and bad between the two and a lot of old hurts from the past are revealed. It was a quick and easy read.
Maya's first kiss was everything she had dreamed of. She'd wanted to kiss Ethan for as long as she could remember. What she couldn't figure out is why Ethan disappeared? Maya wondered if she's ever know the reason. Ethan wanted Maya more than anything. Their kiss was simply amazing. He smiled when he remembered how Maya had looked that day. Then his best friend tells him to stay away from Maya. Would Maya and Ethan ever get the chance to see where that kiss would lead?
Light hearted and an easy read. This book is well plotted and has characters you can relate to. Ms Day takes you on a magnificent journey of youth and experience. Past and present. You will find yourself thinking back to when you were eighteen. I enjoyed the fact Ms. Day didn't follow the usual path. She twisted the story just enough to keep you guessing. This one should be on your TBR list.
I found no issues with this one.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it is so well written. Copy of book provided by author and I voluntarily reviewed it.
I really enjoyed this book. It was book 3 in the Lover Boy series. I haven't read the first 2 but after reading Surprise Best Man, I am definitely reading the first two. This is about Sean Maddox, previous bassist for Lover Boy and now DJ Mad-Ox. He had a one night stand with Shania Simms, best friends with Pepper and Sam who are marrying his best friends.
Shania has had a thing for Sean since college. She lost her V-card to him and he ghosted her. Now years later, they meet up because their friends are getting married. Sean always had a thing for Shania and didn't know what to do with these feelings that keep coming back. Sean can't keep away and soon they start a no strings fling while helping to plan their friends' wedding. There are bumps in the road but they go with the flow. I really liked Sean and his happy, sweet attitude. Shania was a strong, independent heroine, I loved her character.
This was a wonderful second chance romance and I am going back now to read Noah and Will's story! I received an advanced copy for my honest review.
★ Living the Great Gatsby and playing the long game ★
—>>> Five years have passed before Maya sets eyes on the one huge crush she has had since forever, and now she was standing in his gorgeous home, a place she could be renting in exchange for housesitting duties and a very favorable rent. But unfinished business still stands between them like a hard wall, but one even more difficult to scale is the one built by Ethan’s own hand, as he values his privacy above all else. Now a self-made man and living the “Great Gatsby” life, Ethan knows that he has achieved all he came to set out to do, and business keeps on growing exponentially, but he cannot believe his fate at having the one girl he had left behind in order to pursue his out-of-the-box dreams now sharing his digs: Maya, his ex-best-friend’s little sister. Gutsy, proud, smart as a whip and passionate about all things “Met,” and even more beautiful than she was at eighteen years old. Fortunately for him, he is quite experienced at “playing the long game.” A sweet and sexy read!
It’s true, I’m a sucker for a second chance. And this story takes that theme and tips it ever so slightly to the side. It’s a second chance with the one that got away, the one you never quite had in the first place. It also adds a twist of “sibling’s best friend” into the mix. I loved Ethan. He may have the aura of a bad boy, but he’s a sweetheart behind that social mask. Maya drove me batty in equal measure to how much I loved her. She’s proud – to a fault – and would cut off her nose to spite her face if it threatened her cherished independence. But she’s also got a tender heart and a great capacity to love. The secret of what kept them apart in the first place isn’t a big surprise, however the way it’s threaded through almost the whole story is just as fantastic as it is frustrating. I’m actually sorry the book’s over already. I would have happily read about this pair for several thousand more words. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
This is a well written that engaged me the only reason for the four stars is that it tended to bog down a little in some parts but otherwise it was a great read
Five years earlier Maya shared a steamy kiss with her brother Ricky's best friend Ethan but then he upped and left and none has heard from him since. That has broken Maya hearty as she has always had a crush on him Ricky is just angry that is friend has walked away without a backward glance. Now Maya is working as a barista in a museum waiting for a job as a tour guide at said museum but she needs to find a flat she can share. She heads to an interview for a share place and discovers Ethan is the man who has a room available after making his money on Wall Street he needs someone to be there when he is away rather than for the money. The attraction between them is still there but will Ethan and Ricky's ex friendship be a stumbling block to a future between them.
Maya’s desperate to find good, affordable lodging, but is she desperate enough to accept being a roommate with her brother’s ex-BF and her HS crush, who broke her heart when he disappeared without a word? Ethan’s a successful businessman with no personal attachments, and that’s the way he likes it. But when Maya comes back into his life, will he get the 2nd chance he recognizes to keep her in his world?
The interaction between Maya and Ethan is extremely engaging and intriguing. Their chemistry is hot, and their passion is steamy. It’s a fast-paced, absorbing tale with well-drawn characters, and a storyline that will grab your interest from the beginning, tug at your heartstrings throughout, and keep you involved until the end. It’s a wonderful love story with some real captivating moments. I found it to be an extremely enjoyable read.

This book is for readers that like friends-to-romance stories. Ethan kissed Maya, his best friend Rick's sister some years ago, than left without a word to anyone. Fast forward 5 years and Maya is looking for a place to stay in New York City; on one of her visits, she comes across Ethan and his room-to-rent. She moved in and they get to know each other again, while she house sits his place while he's away on business....
It was a smooth reading and it's well written, with little drama; it pulled me in and kept me engrosses from start to finish. Thoughts and emotions are very well detailed. Intimate scenes were written with spicy temptation and were passionate !!!!
I received an ARC for this book in exchange of an honest review
I mostly enjoyed this story. Ethan and Maya knew each other in high school despite a 2yr age gap. Sparks briefly fly one day between them....then fast forward 5 years as their paths cross unexpectedly again. Both Maya and Ethan are somewhat cautious to begin with but slowly they both give in to their desires. I felt that the keeping of secrets by both characters just kept resurfacing through the whole novel. It also seemed that Maya was ?Fickle? She enjoyed the things Ethan owned etc yet would not allow him to treat her to things she couldn’t afford on her own. I was much more satisfied by the revealing of events near the end of the novel. Finally all he pieces of the story fell into place. I received an ARC from Booksprout in exchange for my honest review.
When Maya entered the apartment to view to rent the room, she didn’t expect to see Ethan. With the history between them she didn’t think she would be able to get over how he left years ago without any word why. She stayed strong until she wasn’t able to find a place that worked for her, so, she decided to call and found the room was still available.
Over the following weeks they were able to live together and maintain their friendship which eventually grew into feelings for each other. However, their past still was an issue with Ethan not wanting to talk about it. Maya eventually found out what happened and told Ethan, which allowed them to fully open up about their feelings for each other.

“Accidental Roommate” is an emotional, heartwarming, funny, and captivating story. I loved it! I was captivated from the very beginning. This is a first love kind of romance with hardships and challenges for both parties. Powerful characters with determination and perseverance to achieve goals makes them stronger than ever to admit their love ❤️ for each other and find each other. If you’re an addicted romantic reader like me, I recommend you read this book. This writer will have you addicted to her books in no time and you’ll be looking forward to reading her upcoming books. Thank you Jolie for writing these AWESOME ROMANTIC stories!
At 18 Maya received her first kiss from Ethan. Then her brother ran him off. 5 years later he is a successful investment consultant and she is seeking an apartment and he has a room available. The book is good and it irritated me that she kept blaming Ethan for something and it wasn't until 3/4 of the way in that it was revealed what he was supposed to have done wasn't him at all but her brother. The other thing was the man was successful but she would not go to nice restaurants or places with him because it was out of her economic status. Those things took away from a good story where the man tried to show her he had feelings for her that he never lost and he wanted to give her and share with her everything that made him a success.
Second chance romance. Maya has a crush on her brother's best friend but thinks he doesn't see her. But after he finally makes a move he just leaves out of their life. Until she gets an offer she wants to pass up for her heart. Ethan can't believe Maya is standing in his living room after all this time. A lot has changed in the past 3 years but Maya and his feelings for her hasn't. Can these two finally get it right? Maya is still hurt from the past and doesn't like the secrets Ethan keeps from her. Ethan tries to be gentlemanly but it seems more counterproductive and the secrets are for her own good. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really liked this second chance billionaire romance story. Maya St. James met Ethan Gladwell in high school. They shared one incredible kiss before he disappeared from her life for 5 years. After graduating from grad school in NYC Maya searches for an apartment. She is shown Ethan's place and at first passes on it, but then decides to take it. She has many questions for him but he is standoffish. They eventually decide on a friends with benefits arrangement. They fall in love but have a lot of personal baggage to deal with first. They do get their HEA in the end.

I really enjoyed this book,it was such a delight to read. A brothers bestfriend/Second chance romance,Ethan and Maya have known eachother for a long time Maya harbouring a crush for her brothers bestie and sharing a kiss, which only leads to Ethan disappearing, only to emerge 5 years later. Events lead to Ethan and Maya being roommates and then the entertainment begins, there is so much chemistry between them it sizzled. This was a very pleasurable endearing romance about 2 people getting to know one another again and falling in love in the process. A wonderful must read by Jolie Day that I highly recommend.
Maya had her first kiss with her older brothers friend Ethan, she had had a crush on him for a long time and couldn’t believe he felt the same. Come the morning all she had dreamed about was gone as Ethan had just upped and left. Roll forward Maya is looking for a place to stay after finishing her degree and it’s a struggle until she turns up at a fantastic apartment, that she can afford all she has to do is house sit when the owner is away on business but it’s Ethan and she is still angry with him can she share an apartment with him. Read as this lovely story filled with chemistry unwinds. I voluntarily review an advanced readers copy.
*I received an arc from the author for an honest review*. This is the first book I’ve read by Jolie Day & I really enjoyed it!! I liked the main characters, Ethan & Maya and am happy they got their HEA five years after he leaves town without a word. They meet again unexpectedly when Maya goes looking for apartments in NYC & sees him because he was looking for someone to rent to & take care of his apartment when he was traveling on business. They each had issues to work through with themselves & each other but they finally did & got their HEA. I will definitely be reading more of this author’s books!!
I enjoyed this book of old friends who get reacquainted but come to realize they had feelings for each other back then and still do.
Maya and Ethan thought they would never see each other age in after Ethan left town without a word. Only to come face to face when Maya was looking for a room to rent. She and Ethan become close while sharing the place and they finally talked both their past and what happened and why.
I really enjoyed this book even though the ending was predictable but I also thought the ending was rushed.
I really didn’t think the narrator did a good job at portraying both characters.
