The fight to save British magick rages on — and it’s taking the Society’s beleaguered champions away from Home. Far, far away, to worlds long lost; worlds no one could ever have imagined existed.
Dangers and mysteries abound, which is way up Ves’s street. Jay isn’t quite so sure. Severed as they are from the Society’s support, will magick’s unlikely heroes make it Home unscathed?
It’ll be fine. After all, these lost magickal domains are the Society’s ultimate dream. What could possibly be so bad about that?
The Society for Magickal Heritage battles modern decay in three thrilling new Modern Magick adventures: The Fifth Britain, Royalty and Ruin, and Music and Misadventure.
English both by name and nationality, Charlotte hasn’t permitted emigration to the Netherlands to change her essential Britishness. She writes colourful fantasy novels over copious quantities of tea, and rarely misses an opportunity to apologise for something. Spanning the spectrum from light to dark, her works include the Draykon Series, Modern Magick, The Malykant Mysteries and the Tales of Aylfenhame.
Entrancing, delightful and witty escapism...perfectly magical
If the real worlds problems are unsolveable at the moment, this series is the ideal antidote. Deftly drawn with wicked, modern but well placed humour and all sorts of fantastical beings, charms, and spells. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. I place it alongside Tolkein, Rowling and Kipling.
This is a darling book, full of chocolate, magic and mysteries. It does tend to meander quite a bit. There's an overlapping storyline through each of the books, so some things are resolved by the end of the story and other things are not. Well worth reading. I love the characters and I'm really looking forward to reading about more of their adventures.
Excellent language, plot, characters and novelty. After reading six books in this series, each is more interesting than the last and nothing is predictable.
I liked that there was more background on the characters introduced in these stories . I would like more development of her and Jay’s relationship and his backstory.
A great enjoyable read from start to finish. I can't wait to read the next book..... The books though are a bit expensive for a pensioner like myself..???
