I have always had a weakness for white knights, however impractical they might be. Here the author manages to develop a character who has all the foibles of the typical teenage boy coupled with the determination and focus (usually) of the to-be-hero. I keep thinking of Glynn Stewart's Damien Montgomery and Jason Kilkenny without the magic when I consider young Mr. Gentry and what he is becoming with every adventure.
