Raine Walters loves her nursing position at the Elton building. Though she hasn’t been on the job long, she’s seen and done some amazing things.
Because the men at the Elton building are not your average military men. They’re elite soldiers that have been tortured and experimented upon with an incredibly dangerous drug. The men are struggling to find balance as they work out their new abilities and recover their vitality.

Unfortunately, Haven, one of their most dangerous residents, leaves the facility behind to rescue a woman Raine isn’t even sure is real.

Noah Cross is settling into his new position at the Silverstone Collaborative as a patient liaison at the Elton building. No more bodyguard work for him. At least he thinks. When one of the patients escapes the recovery building Noah volunteers to go after him. Unfortunately, that means working with the beguiling young nurse he might have kissed recently.

Now they have to work together to find Haven and put out any imaginary fires he creates. But maybe they aren’t so imaginary, and maybe the woman they’re looking for is the catalyst of the entire Spartan program.

Another good book in this series!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔🤨😛😁

The Hero: Noah Cross - He was a guard working for the Silverstone Collaborative and was part of the Marathon research project. As a result of that he has been “Enhanced” and can heal faster, move faster, and hear better than normal humans. His job was to protect the son of the owners of the Silverstone Collaborative. Most recently he has been named patient liaison for the patients the Collaborative is trying to help and learn from. Since he had the same Marathon drug, he is the perfect person to work with the patients.

The heroine: Raine Walters - she is a sweet southern girl who works as a nurse for the Silverstone Collaborative. The Collaborative is trying to right the wrongs that the former CEO did and is now taking care of the former prisoners who were tortured and experimented on. Raine is the nurse to many of the patients who are recovering from devastating torture. She tries to remain a sunny spot in their day and is always thinking about new ways to help them and brighten their lives.

The Story: There is one patient, Haven, who is very traumatized from what he went through and the serum they used on him gave him the ability to manifest lifelike images of whatever he wants. Nurse Raine is able to get through to him a bit more each day and he was a fascinating character in this book. There were other patients that had different fears and issues and Raine is extremely good at helping them to settle down and work through their issues.

The character development is terrific. I like the fact that Noah has enhanced hearing and that it sometimes causes him problems because it is hard to filter out all the sounds around him. They actually made his apartment lead lined so he can have a place to go where it is completely quiet. When Haven disappears from the facility, it is Noah and Raine that try to find him to make sure he is OK, since he had recently been worried about a dangerous female called Belladonna and people that were going to try and get him back because of what he could do.

The world building was great, there was a lot of political intrigue in this one since the Dogs of War were going after a senator and the secret service was involved as well. They work with the CIA and even got a General of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to help them out. I just really wanted them to get the Senator because he was evil, and he thinks he can do anything he wants no matter who he hurts or kills. I just love to see people like that get what is coming to them in a book or movie.

I really fell in love with Noah and Raine in the short story they were in, was glad that they author put it in this book too as it was fun to re-read. Haven brought another dimension to the relationship, a wounded man that Rained wanted to help, that Noah wanted to help and maybe even felt guilty that he could have ended up like him, but didn't.

I liked that Haven did what he needed to do, even a I feared for him. What he found was a whole nest of problems and issues, some that the Dogs of War were aware of, some not so much. But as always they jumped in to fix things, to make sure that the bad guys were dealt with and those that were used by the bad guys could get the help that they needed.

The end to this one was great! I loved that through it all Noah and Raine were together, supporting each other and doing what they could to help out others.

Catalyst further expands the short story started in Christmas Raine. Raine Walters is a nurse at the Elton building which houses the military men who were experimented on. Many were left in poor conditions. Some are recovering but with heightened abilities but none as dangerous as Haven. Noah Cross now works also works at the Elton Building and he and Raine who are already fighting an attraction soon have to band together to go in search of Haven when he escapes the building.

I really enjoyed this book and all the new things we learned about the Spartan Project and some other individuals who were injected with the serum. Hoping that there are still more books to come as I would love to get Haven's full story.

Having first met Raine and Noah in Christmas Raine, one of the stories in Lost and Found Pieces 2, I was looking forward to reading more about them. And, wow, this book was so good!

For those that did not read Christmas Raine yet the author has kindly added the story at the start of Catalyst as it gives you some background that makes the rest of the book easier to understand. Not to worry, this does not make the main story any shorter, it is still a full length novel.

Some of the characters we (briefly) met in previous Dogs of War books we now learn more about, but there are also newcomers and the possibilities for future books are endless, something this author does so well: You can hardly wait for more stories, but the perfectionist that she is, you will only get it when she is satisfied - not a ‘machine’ churning out stories. And, it shows in the details!

The story is an awesome mix of mystery, intrigue, action, emotion and romance (and that Almost-Sex scene...), with that bit of paranormal that does not seem so far-fetched. If you like any of these elements, I really recommend reading this book.

Each book can be read as standalone although you will have a better understanding if you read the previous DoW books, and there are no cliffhangers at the end, just a craving for more...

Received an ARC but it is my choice to review this book. Now waiting for my pre-ordered copy to become available, so I can read it again. 5* though I wish I could give more!

As this book opens, Haven is distraught and not responding to Raine as he usually does. She seeks out Noah, who also has a bond with Haven, hoping to make some sense of his ramblings. The two of them together manage to glean some information but most importantly get Haven to take a sedative and relax. Over the next couple of days Haven, while still anxious, begins eating more and regularly. While pleased Raine also worries he might make himself sick.

Raine wakes in the middle of the night and can't sleep. Deciding to have a snack, she goes to the Hospitality room for some cookies and milk. There she finds Noah also enjoying a treat. As they discuss some of her worries the phone on the wall rings and Raine is informed Haven has gone missing.

When they see how Haven left the premises, they wonder how they will be able to find him. The security tape revealed a part of Haven's ability they were unaware of sort of a cloaking effect.

With Wulfe's help they discover the woman Haven mentioned is Donna Frame and she was definitely with Senator Hall as he abruptly left DC.

All they have to do now is find Haven, find the right resources, get evidence, and take down the senator. Easy right?

What ensues is an edge of your seat tale with plenty of action, as Raine and Noah chase after Haven and find love along the way.

I don't know exactly what's next for J.M. but I have a feeling it has to do with the new team we just ran into.

Wow! Noah and Raine's story grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go throughout their entire story. Noah is an enhanced soldier and it would take a strong woman to be with him. Raine fits that bill as she is no damsel in distress. She constantly surprises him as they set out to find out what's going on when one of the men escapes from the medical center they work in. There are twists and turns along the way and not everything is as it seems. That is why I was on the edge of my seat. This series has a paranormal feel to it but it is easy to see that this could happen in real life. Ms. Madden has created a series with wounded and tortured men that should have died but something in them would not let them fade away. I feel for these men and I want to see them come out on the other side. There are new characters introduced that I want to know more about as the mystery of Silverstone Collabrative and all the evil things they did comes to light a little bit at a time. It is what Ms. Madden does well, leaves the reader wanting to know more.

She had done it again and I hope that the series continues for a long time to come. Yes, there is romance in the book and steamy scenes but there is also mystery, emotion, intrigue, and lots of action. In my opinion, there is something for everyone.

I received this ARC from Bookfunnel and this is my honest opinion.

This is the series that keeps on giving! I got addicted to J.M. Madden's characters with the Lost and Found series, which had the Dogs of War spin off. I was sad when I thought the last book was it for the series, so imagine my happy surprise with this addition! We heard about Noah the bodyguard in Wulf and Elizabeth's story, which, of course whetted my appetite for more.
Noah is such a complex man. He struggles with the fact that he willingly took a drug others were tortured with. He struggles with his attraction to Raine. He struggles everyday with his enhancements.
Raine was born to be a nurse. She's the type of person you hope to have if you're in the hospital. Her genuine caring nature is such a big part of her it comes through in everything she does.
I love that he was the city boy and she surprised him by being a true country girl, comfortable with guns and especially hunting.
This is a standalone book, but we still get glimpses at past characters who's stories we've followed and loved. I addicted to those glimpses!
This is going to be a book/series that I reread over and over. The characters are well developed, the story keeps your attention from beginning to end, and of course I always cry somewhere in these damn books, fricken sap that I am lol.

We are back with the “Dogs of War”. Men, that sadly, participated in a government testing program that was suppose to enhance their abilities but instead it went haywire and some have died. A few escaped and these are now determined to expose what had happened.
This time the story belongs to Noah Cross and Raine Walters. Noah is a patient liason at the Elton Recovery Building and Raine is a nurse in the same location. A place built to help those recovering from the experimentation. But when Haven, one very dangerous patients, leaves the center in search of a woman everyone wonders is she real or is she a mirage?
Raine and Noah are determined to find Haven. Will the task bring them closer together or will the danger they encounter keep them apart forever?
Another well written story in this series that will keep you on the edge of your seats. Filled with whodunit, bad guys , a few hunky good ones and a search filled with danger you will find yourself holding your breath more than once.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

One of the things I value most about J.M. Madden's writing style is that you are put right in the middle of the action. You feel everything along with the characters whether it be fear, anger, adrenaline rush, lust or love.

Set against the backdrop of the ongoing search for the ever widening circle of corrupt officials and the missing vial of Marathon is the love story of Noah Cross and Raine Walters. She's a sweet southern girl who caring compassionate nature makes her the perfect nurse for the men ravaged by the horrific experiments of the Collaborative. Noah is a former Marine turned bodyguard turned patient liaison at the Elton Recovery Building where many of the recovering patients are housed and treated. He, himself, is a victim having been given doses of the drug. Living with his enhancements is a daily if not hourly challenge. Noah and Raine team up to find a missing patient who leads them to a significant discovery that may get a true game changer. These two grow closer as they work with officials on a mission to secure a hostage and bring down a key Collaborative player.

Catalyst by J. M. Madden is the fourth book in her Dogs of War series. It was well worth the wait trust me and I hope that Haven will eventually get his own book. This is Raine Walters and Noah Cross's story which was started in Lost and Piece # 2. But the previous characters do make an appearance and Haven will be in it his escape to find the person sending him messages will have hilarious manifestations.

Raine Walters loves her job and does whatever she can to make the men from the Dogs of War more comfortable on the fourth floor. She'll even decorate the recreation room to reflect the different faiths of the men. But it will be Haven who'll need the most attention but Noah Cross will be sent with her when he disappears. They will be confronted with people looking for the Dogs to exploit them and make more serum. How high up the will that person be and could it go as far as the top person?
What about Noah will they become a couple?

Former Marine Noah will not only be part of the original 3 men but he's determined to find the missing serum so no more men will be hurt or killed trying to make super soldiers. He'll have to use his enhanced hearing when it comes to finding Haven and keeping Raine safe. He'll need the CIA, a team of Special Forces to rescue Haven and take down the most crooked politician there is.

I can't wait for the next book and will wait anxiously for it to arrive.

There are some men, and a few women, who had been kidnapped and tortured. The idea of a super soldier would be cool but not at the expense these people paid. Noah is an enhanced soldier with powerful hearing ability. He is currently working with the medical professionals, helping the victims, as security. Rainn is an extra special nurse with the patience and love of a saint. The two end up on a mission to assist one of her patients and the excitement begins. I'd like to say you could jump into this series anywhere but each story connects to the previous with a continuing storyline. This is an action and suspense novel first but the romantic aspect managed to sneak through. My copy was given through the author and I wrote this review voluntarily.

Noah was first introduced in the previous book, Retribution, and was featured with Raine in the last set of Christmas stories. Both were fantastic so I knew Catalyst would be no different. At the start of Catalyst, Raine and Noah have done little more than flirt with one another (aside from that one christmas kiss). When they are immediately thrust into an adventure to find Haven, one of the enhanced men who has disappeared from the facility they work in, they're also given an opportunity to really get to know each other. This action packed story had me hooked from start to finish. Noah and Raine get their HEA and Haven gets what I believe is the start of his own HEA.

Catalyst, the newest book in the Dogs of War series brings us to the Eaton Building, now the treatment and recovery center for the men brutally experimented on with the Spartan and Marathon drugs. When Haven Wendell disappears is he in the middle of a delusion or is someone or something pulling him into danger? After a Christmas kiss, Patient Liaison Noah Cross and Nurse Raine Walters slow growing romance takes a leap into high gear while on the search for Haven. Who or what is the catalyst and will everyone survive?

This book is author J.M. Madden at her best; romance, suspense, heart stopping action, with a dash of paranormal.

You are going to love Catalyst!!! You can always count on J.M. Madden to create excellent books. She has created a sexy, suspenseful, page turner with all of the feels. I have been waiting for Raine and Noah’s story ever since the Christmas novella, and you will love their happily ever after. I could not put this Book down! Noah is a bad ass, but so is nurse Raine. Nothing will stand in the way of her patients. The search for Haven is exciting. The time away solidifies Raine and Noah’s feelings for each other. The storyline is very compelling, and the characters keep evolving. I can’t wait for more of the Dogs of War series.

WHEN LOVE CHOOSES

So many past threads pulled together in this story, amazing to watch the various layers unfold, meshing a divergent cast of characters together into a cohesive unit. Lots of surprising twists, and action that has a slightly different edge. Propelling all of this is the slowly building relationship between Noah and Raine, which neither one quite expected but both recognize that love needs no explanation, just acknowledgement.
If you haven’t read this series, and also the series this is spun off from, you are missing out. Each story is fantastic and not to be missed. Highly recommend.

I have been waiting for Noah's story and Madden did not disappoint. The various twists and turns and trying to decipher what is real and what isn't will keep you on the edge of your seat. Raine is a beautiful, quiet, well-accomplished nurse that you realize later is no mouse. She can hang with the big guns! Noah is an enhanced soldier who, along with Raine, must find a soldier who has left the facility they work for. The Dogs of War gets better and better with each story. I would love to see this as a Television series. I received this as an ARC and gladly give my review.

I received an ARC via bookfunnel for my honest review and OMG! This book does not disappoint. J.M. Madden does it again with this current instalment from Dogs Of War. An an enhanced Soldier, I was fascinated to hear Noah’s story after an introduction to him in an earlier book. Reading Raine’s and Noah’s story and learning more about Silverstone have me a story I have come to expect from this author. I love the way she has approached the topic of enhanced soldiers and the relationships they form in the process.

The love scenes are hot and the emotions are real! This is a must read!

As we get into Noah’s story things are quickly escalating for the Dogs of War. As enemies become bolder and more dangerous more information is found. When Raine and Noah go to NYC to help locate one of the men who has left in search of information, changes occur and while some enemies are dealt with, others remain. Also, new allies are found and hints at what we will see in future books are given. Of course we cannot forget the attraction between Noah and Raine and they are sweet, sexy, funny and full of heat!

Ok, this was a surprise to see these two characters come together. This story is about Raine and Noah. Noah is an enhanced soldier. His hearing was basically what was enhanced. Raine is such a sweet nurse. I am glad these two found each other and hopefully started working on their happily ever after. My question is what happened to Haven? What kind of decision did he make? Do these questions get answered in another book! FANTASTIC job J.M.! I hope there is another book to answer all the burning questions.😏

The amazing continuation of The Dogs Of War.

We first met Raine & Noah in Christmas for Raine and I fell for those two like crazy. While Raine and Noah are our H/h Haven’s is central to the story. Haven’s abilities are more unique than the others we’ve seen and his story is just as sad as the others.

Well paced, wonderful characters and great storyline.

I really enjoyed reading this book , because it held my interest. It's actually a story that could have actually happened. Maybe not exactly the way it did happen in the book. I would recommend this book to everyone that likes to read a good romance. I have read the whole series, and enjoyed all of them. Good series to read. Cindy Bowers

There is so much excitement, action and intrigue in this story I don’t know where to start. Raine and Noah were non-stop in looking for Haven and also working with authorities and others to put an end to some criminal activities. Along the way they found themselves wanting and needing to be in each other’s lives. I find great joy in reading books written by J.M. Madden.

Terrifying

I hope no one ever comes up with a trial like what happened to these men . The fact that they lived and are bouncing back and finding their happy forever with kind strong women is an example of how strong minded our military personnel are. Great series.

Good Read

The ending was a little too mild though. Hope this is not the conclusion of 'Dogs of War' series😯. J.M. Madden is a very good writer and I am sure a greater ending to this series by this author can be done (no pressure😁)!
