She’s off limits, but their chemistry’s off the charts in this all-new Buckhorn Brothers novella from Lori Foster! When Briana Kasper returns home from college and sets eyes on hunky Jax Remmy, she knows she wants him. They were acquainted back in high school, and now that they’re all grown up, their attraction is instant, mutual and explosive.Ever since his parents died, Jax has been responsible for his two younger siblings. He can’t get distracted by Briana, no matter how sexy she is. He tries to keep some distance from her—avoids her even. Little by little they grow closer despite his efforts. But when a freak snowstorm hits and they get stuck together overnight in her house with no electricity, everything changes.

Jax was a novella in the Buckhorn Brothers series.
Briana Kasper was the youngest daughter to Gabe, an original Buckhorn Brother. She had just completed college and was moving back to Buckhorn.
Jax Remmy had just lost his parents and at twenty six he was responsible for his two younger siblings. He worked long hours and had little time for himself.
Brianna ran into Jax immediately after returning home and that’s all it took for her determination to set in to claim him, but he was too caught up in his new reality to be claimed. He was tempted but avoided Brianna at every turn. Foster then created a cute, funny, and lighthearted plot. It included the entire Buckhorn gang and even a lovable dog.
It was a novella so it was short and to the point. And of course as with most novellas, I loved the characters so I wanted more. But all in all, it was a quick and enjoyable read.
It's been awhile since I read any of the Buckhorn books, but it was easy enough to jump back in without feeling like I missed anything- although I realized I missed the families of Buckhorn! I need to go back and see which ones I haven't read yet.
Jax was a quick, easy read, and definitely a case of insta-love. Jax did his best to resist Briana, more concerned with taking care of his brother and sister after their parents died than dating. Briana wasn't easily deterred, though. On one hand I liked that about her, she went after what she wanted, on the other hand she did get a little pushy there at the end. But I think Jax needed that, otherwise he probably would have kept pushing his wants/needs to the side, placing his sister and brother above all else. I really did like that about him! He deserved his happiness too, and he found it with Briana and her family- they all did. I love that her family all came together to welcome him, Owen, and Ella into their fold!
I’m a fan of Lori Foster’s work therefore this was a natural transition to her newest release. She weaves wonderfully romantic heroes of The Buckhorn Brothers Series, the Primary family of Buckhorn, Kentucky. Four brothers, sons, daughters, nieces and nephews, the family dynamic remains bound in integrity.
Briana, the youngest of Gabe’s (town player) three daughters. Unlike his two older brothers, Sawyer and Morgan, Gabe had a house in town, just as his brother Jordan did. Briana’s story revolves around her crush Jax.
Jax, Owen and Ella lost their parents. Jax as the eldest has assumed the parental role. Owen and Ella struggle with feelings of burdening Jax of trapping him into responsibility. Feelings such as he couldn’t be a big brother because of his parenting role, leaving no room for his own happiness.
Good advice, do not cause a scene over someone, if you mattered, they would not claim to have feelings for you one moment and in the other flirt with someone else. Never cause a scene Exercise self-pride Ignore the tool
“Like they’re ignoring me?” “I don’t think they are. I think they’re both very aware that you’ve already spotted them.” “That dick.” “If you show it doesn’t matter to you, the girl won’t waste her time. She can’t annoy you if you refuse to be annoyed by her, right? And good old Scott is going to realize he isn’t such a catch after all, that you can definitely do better.”
It’s my family’s number one rule. Always be nice—until you have a damn good reason to be otherwise.”
While I’m sad to see the end of the Buckhorn series with Briana and Jax’s novella, the series ended on a happy, hopeful note! A little sexy, a bit of fun, and a lot of love from family and a furry friend, this was a sweet ending to a long-running, favorite series.
While I have always been a big fan of Lori Foster, my TBR list is so big that I don't get to do a lot of automatic buys, but if I see a Buckhorn book it's automatically mine! Jax lives up to my love of all the Buckhorn Brothers books.
I have followed the Buckhorn series from the beginning and each book was like going home again. The last of Gabe's daughter's Briana found her man Jax. Great plot and i didnt want it to end. This is the last book in the series and I'm sad to see it end. My favorite series and this being one of the benefit books for the no kill shelter makes it even sweeter. Thor was the best addition in the story.
While short this one covers a lot of ground. I loved Briana's attitude, so positive, which is just what Jax needs in his life, even if he doesn't realize it. I liked that Briana was the one to pursue Jax, it's too bad that even though he was into her he felt he couldn't start anything due to his newly being in charge of his siblings. With her positive attitude Briana showed him that life could be more than what it was, that he could help guide his siblings and still have a life of his own.
The ending to this one was great, loved how Jax and his siblings got folded into the clan.
Brianna Kasper, who I believe is the youngest of Gabe's daughters, comes home from college and meets up again with Jax, who she went to high school with. She's attracted and trying to get him interested but he doesn't seem to be biting. Really, Jax is plenty interested, but as guardian of his two younger siblings and trying to keep things together so soon after his parents' deaths, Jax doesn't have the time or energy to commit to a relationship, no matter how much he wants Brianna. But she's not giving up. She's in town to assert her independence from her family, settle in to a new house and be whatever Jax needs her to be to him.
Overall a good story, but a little too short to really develop the characters at all. Brianna comes across as a little too perfect, able to come in and fix Jax's problems and his family with never-erring advice and never even a problem of her own...other than not getting what she wants when Jax can't commit. She and Jax make a cute couple and the dog showing up added to the cuteness factor. But after their night together, there seems to be some angst ready to brew, but it fizzles disappointingly in a matter of paragraphs. Jax and Brianna get their HEA and are all set to get married after being in a relationship for less than 12 hours. Little too fast for my tastes. It's nice catching up with everyone in town, but honestly by this point I'm not sure I remember who everyone is. This is a nice little universe and these novellas are easy and fun to read.

Briana is done with college and moving back home. Early one morning she hears the trash truck, realizes she has a bag to put out and hurries outside to catch it. Just then she realizes the driver is Jax, whom she went to school with. She had a crush on him back then but after one look she sees how he's filled out and is even more gorgeous. She's not shy and makes a point of flirting with him but other than being polite he doesn't seem to be interested. What she doesn't know is he has his hands full. His parents died in a car accident and it's his responsibility to look out for his nineteen year old brother and sixteen year old sister. He wants Briane but doesn't think the timing is right. What follows is a sweet story about two genuinely kind hearted people who find the attraction between them is irresistible. Loved it.
This was a novella which I am not too fond of reading because the story just starts to get good and it is promptly ended. Jax and Briana get their happily ever after in a rushed conclusion. The characters are very interesting but the story seemed to get to it too fast. She made their holidays bearable by marrying Jax after he had lost their parents but I wanted them to build their relationship a little bit more. After spending one night together sealed the deal. It was a cute story but I think it could have been better if she lengthened it with more loving encounters between these two and her family which are amazing.
“Jax” is part of the Buckhorn Brothers series written by Lori Foster.
Still grieving after the death of his parents and feeling responsible for the care of his siblings, the last thing on Jax Remmy’s mind is dating. But Briana Kasper, part of a huge “pillars of the community” family in Buckhorn, has other things in mind for him. Mainly, the two of them together.
Ms. Foster writes a sweet and sexy novella and a solid addition to the Buckhorn Brothers family saga. Also, all author proceeds of the book go to the Animal Adoption Foundation in Hamilton, Ohio.
Brianna is back home after finishing college. She has always liked Jax and wastes no time in engineering a meeting with him. Jax remembers Brianna from high school. After recently losing his parents in a car accident, he is now is responsible for looking after his brother and sister. Brianna tempts Jax big time. He is determined to resist her advances. Brianna is a feisty heroine, a good match for Jax’s hero. With so much on his plate he needs Brianna to make him see it’s ok to have his needs met. Lori Foster pens a feel good story.
No more Buckhorn Brothers to read. Sad. Short a sweet filler that has Gabe's youngest daughter Briana pursuing Jax, the garbage truck driver. Insta lust/love and pretty rushed and I did hate the sadness Jax and his siblings were suffering. But I enjoyed the positivity that this story gave out too. Briana empowering Ella to stand strong and also giving Owen work that benefited them both. Cute having the dog turn up. Not enough of the founding men but what there was was fun. I read this a couple of months ago and forgot to review it, no hardship to reread.
The end of an era so to speak. Brianna Kasper is the last of the family to marry. She sets her sights on the sexy Jax but he comes with baggage that he doesn't want to bring her into even if he finds her to be sweet and sexy.
This was fast paced with a happy ending for the couple but for the readers who love this series it is a bit bittersweet. I liked the story and her family is big, boisterous, noisy, pushy and loveable. I only wish that it could have lasted a bit longer.
Buckhorn books are my favorite! I started reading the buckhorn brothers books a long time ago and this novella about Briana, a daughter, was sweet and fun to read.
Briana is back home and sets her sights on Jax Remmy. Jax feels the attraction too, but he’s been caring for his siblings since his parents died and doesn’t have the time. But getting snowed in and sweet Briana’s persistence leads to love.
Love the Buckhorn Men! Wish I had men like them in my small town. This family is very beloved by me, and many more, but I just found this book lacking. Not of something specically, but just in gerneal. It's reall interesting anymore and I can tell what's coming and the new charactwrs seem to have the same personilaty, if one oat all. Maybe it's time for Lori Foster to end this beloved seires with a bang.
This story was included in the paperback of "Colt" that I recently purchased.
Briana has made it clear that she's set her cap for Jax, but he resists her advances because he's already got so much on his plate. Loved how the blending of families eased the burdens for both of them, how adding a stray dog had a positive influence, and the use of my favorite trope: forced proximity. Maybe I should go back and check out some other Buckhorn titles?
I loved Jax and Briana’s story. Briana had plans for what she was going to do after moving back home after college, but that changed the moment she saw Jax, her former high school classmate. It was clear they were attracted to each or but Jax held back, he had his reasons and good reasons. How could he involve Briana in his problems? He cared to much to ask her to accept his life. I highly recommend reading this book. You will not want to put it down. I read it in 1 day
I hate to see the end but understand. I loved Jax and Briana story. I will miss the Buckhorn story it was my first Lori Foster book Sawyer. This family is the most wonderful, loving, caring family. Thank you for this series. You never fail when it comes to your books. Loved it. 5 Stars all the way.❤️❤️❤️
It's 2 short again!! Max's family has been through hell but it's good 2 let Simone in once in awhile 2 help u figure things out. It's good that she found that special dog and helped it just like all her family does. I hope that there will more books in this awesome series!! It's just 2 funny that her dad got punished by having girls but overall he taught them well on stubbornness and love.
I so love this book. I always hate it when I'm done reading. There is never enough chapters. I'm also sad that this is the last book in this series. I have read every book in this series and still can't get enough. I hope Lori starts to write about the third generation. In until then. I will just continue to read all of your new releases.
Great short story with a lot happening. Best part is that Jax is just an ordinary person with real life circumstances. I love that Lori does these benefit books and lets us revisit the Buckhorns.
This was a short, very quick read. It seemed a little rushed, but covered what needed to be covered. Briana sees her former classmate, all grown up now, and falls hard for him, but he doesn’t return her feelings. Or does he?
A sweet ending to the Buckhorn series! Jax and Briana were adorably wonderful! Jax was definitely interested, but felt he should pursue anything due to his family circumstances. Briana was positive to the core - and she was just what Jax needed.
This book was a great, easy read. I had not read (or known) this was one of the last books of this series, so I am excited to go back and read more about Jax! P.S. you may need a fan because the book gets a little steamy at parts .... if you know what I mean ;)
Slightly annoyed that several of these book covers/titles should be the Kasper/Hudson/Sommerville women, not who they hook up with. Also, I don't like novellas so I should stop rating them. And reading them.
I’m really hoping that this isn’t the end but if it is, it was a wonderful story to finish with. This quick story had all the feels that this series is known for. The heat, the angst & the ultimate love is what’s wrapped up in this sweet story of Jax & Briana. Definitely recommend.
