What if Jesus knew exactly how to change the world and presented us with his way to do it as something called ‘a disciple’? What if you and I, as ordinary followers of Jesus, are the most transformational force in the entire universe? As disciples we can see other people’s lives touched and even transformed by our simple acts of obedience, in partnership with God’s actions with us.

Being a disciple, and helping others become the same, is about moving forward and taking steps. It is pressing the play button. Being active. Having a go. Learning to partner with Jesus. That is what we shall explore in the following pages. But, as with my previous book, we will also need to push the pause button from time to time as we go. This means to stop and re-think what might have become overly familiar ideas and phrases to us.
