A cynical cyborg. A woman with too many secrets. A shared past that could tear them apart -- or bring them together.
S-756 despises all humans, but he hates the scientists who tortured him and turned him into a cyborg most of all. The long years terraforming Mars have only cemented that hatred.
When his duty forces him to rescue an endangered scientist, he is shocked to discover that she is the alluring woman who betrayed him. No matter how much his long forgotten heart rejoices, he knows he can never trust her.
Addie paid a terrible price to save the man she loved. When she encounters him again, she is both thrilled and terrified. Her feelings towards the massive cyborg haven’t changed, but how can she explain what she did, especially when she has another secret to keep?
When a dark plot forces them to collaborate, can they move on from their tragic past and find a new future together?
Each book in the Cyborgs on Mars series can be enjoyed as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy second chance romance is intended for mature readers.
Ah, so the comfort was just too easily achieved. With all the trust issues. Then summing up let's use vampire rules. In dealing with humans adapting to Mars. Really
We met S-756, aka Sam Wilson, in the first book...and so, in a fit of misguided optimism, I figured it might be worth reading his story in this installment. I figured wrong.....
Sam, now the cyborg Judge in the new Martian settlement, can’t believe it when he sees Dr. Addie Montgomery has arrived to join the staff. She’d betrayed him years before, and he’s never forgotten his bitterness and anger. Addie is surprised to see Sam again - and can’t deny the tug of attraction that she feels for the man, er.....machine.... that she’d left behind. When Addie is pressured into working with Sam, their old feelings are awakened, and soon they’re falling hard for each other. However, when a shadow from their pasts arrives....both Addie and Sam realize that their love will set them free....or something.
Where to begin....? Maybe I should just go with how utterly stale and boring it is. It’s a second chance story..but it would have been just as bad the first time around. Both Sam and Addie are cardboard-y and one dimensional. These characters have been done before (and after), and done much better than here. Addie’s naive, silly, and easily manipulated. Sam is humorless and stoic...so being a cyborg isn’t a big change for him.
If pressed, I’d say that Blackie, Sam’s ‘horse,’ is the most interesting character in the story. But that would mean thinking about why in the world there’d be robotic horses on Mars....
I had to work to make myself finish this..I’m not even sure why I bothered.
Save yourself the bother and watch an old episode of “Gunsmoke” on Netflix.
Sometimes you read a character or a story and you feel an instant connection to them, right? Sam and Addie were that for me. The prologue captivated me from page one and I found myself quickly becoming emotionally invested in these two from then on.
Sam thought he was volunteering to help Earth and its people survive. He thought he was making a difference but when he's turned into a cyborg, he is treated like a machine, with no rights and denied his humanity. Until he meets Addie. She's the only bright spot in his otherwise miserable existence in a scientific lab. But eventually even that is taken from him.
Thinking that Addie betrayed him, Sam closes off his heart and becomes the perfect cyborg soldier. Until he's reunited with Addie and he realizes that things aren't as black and white as he'd thought.
Addie has her reasons for what happened all those years ago but she's always regretted not being able to explain to Sam. Having him back gives Addie the courage to reach for a second chance. But cyborgs are still thought of as less than human and her ex rears his ugly head to try and derail them. Packed full of action, suspense and (steamy-off-the-charts) romance, Sam and Addie will not disappoint!
Would I recommend? This is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend it. It was safe (no cheating) and had two amazingly loving and caring characters that you will want to root for. I loved the writing style, the emotional growth both MCs go through and the secondary characters just whetted my appetite :)
I’m beyond curious about Jonah and Daisy but I’m getting ménage vibes ☹ I don’t really do sharing! If anyone knows, please comment! In the meantime, I’m going to hunt down the rest of the series and catch up on amazing cyborgs, lol.

As a rule, I really enjoy Honey Phillips' work, but I think her Martian Cyborg Westerns might be my favorite of her works. Of the series so far, AFoC is the best one, and I hope the trend continues. Something about this story hit all of the right emotional buttons for me, and I was invested in Sam and Addie's HEA. The conflicts and villain were still pretty simple—as is par-the-course for Ms. Phillips' work—but westerns have never really had complicated villains with complicated motivations now, have they? Maybe that's why these shine so much: they're sci-fi, but the framework of a western allows for a more simplistic framework and plot devices.
My 80s' child Rainbow Brite loving heart was so happy thinking of Blackie as something like this, even if I know it isn't accurate.
Some of the mystery of what GenCon is really up to is teased in this installment, and we get to meet the next duo of cyborgs who will be in the next book. I am very much looking forward to seeing what's going on with them and Miss Daisy.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
After Sam was turned into a cyborg by the military, he was hold in a secret place and was experimented on. His only light was the woman that mostly came at night to sooth him. Together they wanted to escape but then he had to find out she betrayed him.
I really liked this. The story was kind of predictable but still really good. I like that these characters have quite a history together and I also like the way they still can’t let off each other.
I also liked the whole story of her past and everything that came with it. His past could have been a little more elaborated but it was still good.
There is one thing I didn’t like but it would be a spoiler so yeah.
Overall this was a great story and I really enjoyed this book.
I was so excited to read this ever since he read about this salty guy. I was not disappointed.
I do like that they had a past and it didn't seem that they just fell into each others beds. I do so hope she keeps with this series. If so I wonder who her next pairing would be.
This is the story of Addie and S-756 (Sam) they had known each other in the past and due to a misunderstanding he hates her. Then 12 years later they are both on Mars and by chance meet again and he realizes not everything back then was what it seemed.
**If you like Honey Phillips other books you will love this one as well.
Enjoyed first two and had higher expectations of this book. They seem to follow a trend where the women walk in or mistakenly take their men into a dangerous situation. Plus for a scientist to act stupid wasn’t well thought out. Sam came over as a real challenge in previous books but he was tamed down in this one.
I've liked this one the best so far. There was some angst, but nothing over the time. The villain in the story is Addie's ex, who is cruel to more then just S-756. (Major Samuel "Sam" Watson) Addie is a scientist and been sent to Mars to create a way to help the humans breath on Mars without using masks. Only the danger for her has nothing to do with being on Mars.
The Cyborgs on Mars series have been a fun read, look forward to A Few Cyborg's More.
I’ve always liked westerns and this is living on a frontier. I can’t wait to see where this is all leading. I suspect that the plot will involve the Director much more and take a nasty turn in the future. The romance was a second chance and did not disappoint. I like that Sam has high ranking friends in the earth military.
This is the 2nd of the Mars cyborg stories I've read and full disclosure I am a massive Honey Phillips fan so I was so happy to find out she's carrying on this series having enjoyed the previous one. I don't do spoiler reviews so pretty much all you get is this book is awesome you should read it. I love how each of the Cyborgs is different and while they can be read as standalones the series is building a whole world on Mars. There is maybe worth noting a small trigger warning of implied sexual violence that is referenced, it's not detailed and it doesn't go over board. The sex scenes while vanilla (there was a mention of spanking, can we get some in the next please Ms Phillips? Pretty please?) are very hot and I want my own Cyborg. Good characterisation and not your typical heroine which I liked.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
*Trigger Warning: Some violence, language, and mention of sexual abuse and rape and an unwanted pregnancy.*
The heart wants what it wants… Revenge doesn’t change anything.
A Fistful of Cyborg is my second dip in Honey Phillips’ Cyborgs on Mars series. I loved Book One, couldn’t get enough of my cyborg hunks, and so imagine my utter delight when I discovered Book Two’s hero is The Judge himself. 😍
The Judge, a.k.a. S756, a.k.a. Major Sam Wilson is the broodiest of the cyborgs introduced in Book One. He’s literally got a heart of metal. Sam—or he prefers to be called, S-756—no longer considers himself human. He’s a cyborg ranger, the territorial Judge (and therefore boss of the cyborg rangers), meting out justice on not-so-lawless Mars. He thinks it’s fine and dandy that two of his rangers have already fallen head over boots in love with their human wives, but Sam—err, S-756 is having none of that funny business.
Until that is his past follows him to the new Earth settlement on Mars, and she’s still as hauntingly beautiful as he recalls.
Dr. Adelaide “Addie” Montgomery is a brilliant and passionate scientist who wants to use her brains for the good of current and future settlers to Mars. She remembers Sam very well, and she hopes to make amends for the hurt she has caused him, but not when he’s calling the shots on her latest experiment.
But that’s how it happens when Sam/S-756 manages to secure one-on-one lab time with the good doctor. Addie isn’t certain at first, but she knows that she needs Sam - his willing role in her experiment might help unlock the secret to living on Mars more comfortably (i.e. without the breathing apparatus required outdoors, and the extra insulation against the colder, thinner atmosphere, etc.).
Okay, I’m gonna fangirl-gush now, but I loved Addie and Sam’s story. It had all the ups and down I wanted, without too much angst anchoring down the plot and their HEA ending. Sam had his reservations about Addie, sure, but I liked that he didn’t let it cloud his judgement and he wasn’t as cold to her as I thought and hoped he wouldn’t be. And Addie’s desire being darkened by her only other recent sexual experience was handled appropriately.
I can say that if you like your heroes grumpy and not entirely human, and your heroines curvy and smart, then you’re in for a treat with A Fistful of Cyborg. ❤️
Experimental second chance S-756, Sam, hates humans since he was tortured by an evil, sadistic, scientist under he guise of "experiments", his only light in the darkness back then was Addie who snuck into the lab to see him. They planned to escape together until she betrayed him. That same scientist became her husband (not willingly) and he was cruel to her to. 12 years later Addie and Sam run into each other again and this time it's on his terms. He agrees to be the test subject for the experiments on the condition that she's the one performing them and they are away from the GenCon labs. He wants to hate her for what she did but can't resist her need to protect her. She was assaulted by her ex-husband and I think the sexual part of the story moved too fast considering her trauma. They had both been hurt and learning to heal together was done well if a bit rushed. I wish this was a little longer and slowed down a little more but it worked to balance the plot and the romance.
Series: Cyborgs on Mars #2 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
S-756 hates all humans, but especially the scientist who tortured him and turned him into a cyborg. When he has to rescue a scientist, he is shocked to discover that she is the beautiful woman who betrayed him years ago.
This was a great cyborg romance! I love when two damaged people find love together and these two were great! They met over 10 years ago when Sam, aka S-756, was turned into a cyborg. She tried to help him escape but things quickly went wrong. I liked that while Sam held onto his anger against Addie for a while he still took care of her and protected her. He may have been a little grumpy at first but he quickly changes.
Sam and Addie have a fast paced but also very emotional relationship. Addie has been abused by her ex-husband and doesn’t trust men anymore, especially when it comes to sex. Sam has to slowly show her that it can be pleasurable and that it won’t hurt. I liked how careful he was with her after he realized the extent of her fears. They both had a lot of emotional trauma but they helped each other work through it and I loved every minute of it.
Overall, this was a great second chance romance. I loved seeing this grumpy cyborg fall in love. I am really enjoying this series and really can’t wait to see how the cyborgs will deal with GenCon in the future.
Content Warnings:/ Addie was coerced into an abusive marriage and forced to have a child. Sam (S-756) was tortured by a sadistic scientist.
I loved Sam and Addie’s second chance, human-cyborg, healing romance with a side of secrets. I was feeling the main characters pain while reading this one, it was palpable. Sam, aka S-756, is a cyborg who has been on Mars for a decade helping to prepare the planet for humans. He is now a Ranger and the Territorial Judge helping to keep law and order. He hates humans because of his painful past. Addie is a human scientist who is working on Mars for GenCon. Part of Sam’s painful past is related to Addie’s betrayal but her past also contains pain. When Sam happens upon Addie and rescues her from an assault, he decides to agree to an experiment in order to get some revenge. As they spend time together, old feelings resurface and their chemistry heats up but to get to their HEA they’ll need to deal with the past and the secrets. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, characters with dimension and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, painful pasts, coincidences, danger, and chuckles. Like the other books in the series, there are layered themes and storylines. The romance and the connection between the MCs is the most robust but there are also the storylines of corporate greed, scientific ethics, human rights and self-governance weaved into the story. These topics are not heavy handed enough to overshadow the romance storyline though. They are there more as something to ponder on if you want or ignore if you don’t. I am looking forward to reading more in the series. 4.5 stars
When Sam first met Addie, it didn’t end too well. Now twelve years later, Sam is S-756, the territorial Judge on Mars, and Addie is a scientist working on a project with Gencorp. It’s not long before life throws them together again, and the two of them have to deal with both the issues of the past, and those of the present.
We first met S-756 when he is dealing with the cyborgs from the first two stories- refusing to acknowledge his original human name, and rather stern in countenance, he still has the best interests of his cyborgs at heart. Here we get to see his back story, and discover the human woman who knows him a little better than most.
Like the other tales in this series, it’s a fast paced one, set in a dystopian future. There is an overarching background story of corruption and corporate control which builds throughout the books, and so they really do need to be read in order. It’s a unique series, think Wild West cowboys on Mars, and you’ll get the idea. The book itself is a quick read, with a lot of action, angst, and little romance. An enjoyable series for sci-fi romance lovers.
I love Sam "the Judge" from all the previous stories and I was thrilled to see him get his own story. He doesn't suffer fools gladly and he believe in honesty and justice which is swift and oftentimes lethal. He was a soldier dedicated too his planet who volunteered for a program and then was lied too. He ended up being a lab experiment And turned into a cyborg, but it's also where he meets Abbey . Abbey was a very young scientist who was a man being tortured and wanted to save him and while trying to save him she fell deeply in love. But in order to save him she had to lie to him and set him free even if his love turned to hate. 12 horrible years later they are reunited on Mars with a lot of distrust, fear and anger and secrets surrounding them. What unfolds is a story of redemption, earned trust and love that song be denied. 💖 I love this series it's one of my favorites by Honey Phillips and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
This novel was well written and edited, with few if any typos that I caught. The characterization was great, with me feeling especially sympathetic to the heroine and all she had suffered with her ex-husband. The hero was crusty on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside, which is a character type I usually love. The world building in this novel, re-creating the atmosphere of the old American West during the colonization of Mars, is super enjoyable for me, because I was definitely a Firefly fan. The plot and pacing of this novel was exciting and meant I finished it in one sitting. This novel was medium angst and very high stakes, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for romance novels. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with cyborg heroes or who were fans of Firefly.

So upset! I couldn't wait for the Judge's book- a hardened older male who hates humans- woohoo! His falling in love is going to be epic! he's going to fight it sooo hard. yes! all that would have been an amazing read. but we didn't get that. Nope! We get him being betrayed by a stupid scientist (I'm married to one and they are not stupid, they analyze everything to death and beyond) so that right there ticked me off. And he gave in soo fast. So much for "revenge". The plot made no sense- which okay, if it was an epic love story with mega smut I could understand, but it wasn't. And for someone who had been "forced" she sure acted like a cat in heat rubbing all over him. and once we introduce her child (who makes it apparent that the author does not have kids) there is simply no saving this book. A royal stinkin' pile. That's it for this series for me. I won't read another one.
I just can't seem to get enough of this author's stories. I grab them as soon as I see them. You should most definitely try one of her books. They are filled with action, adventure, god against evil, love and most importantly a happy ever after ending. Sam is the Judge on Mars but he was Major Sam Watson when he was in the military and before they turned him into a cyborg. He was the subject of an evil scientist that worked for GenOne before Mars too. That is where he met Addie. She betrayed him in the most horrible way. Addie loved Sam but because of her betrayal he may never forgive her. When he saves her on Mars she may have the chance to tell him what really happened. She is hiding something else though. What will happen when he finds out she married and had a daughter with the scientist that he hates the most?
This is another book in the series about cyborgs and humans colonizing Mars. Scientists tells us that marj does not have adequate oxygen. However, Mars is really a frontier planet and thus like the frontier of Old West, this story tells about a new Western Mars Frontier.
Sam volunteered to the cyborg experiment, but he did not volunteer to be tortured by Dr Mingol. Addie is a girl that love Sam and she tries to help him escape.
Dr. Mingol has forced Addie to marry him. Will Addie and Sam find each other as their love?
The characters are unique, relatable, and emotional. The nonstop drama with a twist make this Frontier Western Martian they sure hit with me and would be a hit with for I can hardly wait for other readers. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommended.
“So much fun that a woman would knock herself unconscious in order to get away from you?”
Sam is the local Cyborg judge on Mars… he pronounces judgement, he is the one disputes are brought to… and the humans can’t help but feel he is judging them in general.
Addie is a scientist doing what she must to build her future. She’s made hard choices in the past, sacrifices that haunt her, but she’s determined this time she’s going to do what she must to break free from the man who has gained too much control of her life.
This done in one story alludes to the characters in the previous books, and hints at character’s in an upcoming one, but is primarily a stand alone story, moving forward the ongoing arc of a corporation, GenCon, getting its hooks in to Mars early, laying the foundations for their future empire on a new planet.
Another great heart warming story which was even more special because of the prior relationship between Sam and Addie.
They first met when Sam was in a lab and undergoing painful experiments. Addie was new to the facility and comforted him in the cell at night. They planned to escape together but things went wrong. Now it is 12 years later and they are both on Mars. Sam is bitter over a perceived betrayal and Addie has suffered herself over the years.
These two have to find the way back to each other as well as uncover the lies that kept them apart. There is danger from a nasty villain, bias against cyborgs, a great mechanical horse and a little one to touch your heart. I love second chance love stories and this one hit all the buttons.
Honey Phillips has done it again. On the planet of Mars, she's created love for the cyborgs there, who thought it lost to them. Meet S-756 a/k/a Major Sam Wilson. Over 10 years ago, a woman broke his heart. This caused him to not trust humans.while rescuing a human woman, she turned out to be that woman. Dr. Addie Montgomery.has been suffering heartache for over 10 years. She now finds herself on Mars sill working for GenCon. She decides to explore her surroundings and runs into three men who intend to rape her. She knows they will hurt her from past experiences. Follow Sam and Addie to their HEA. You will not be sorry.

Many years ago after Sam was made into a Cyborg Addie found him chained up in a lab. She visited him nightly until they were found out and Sam was sent back to the military. Sam was in love/hate with Addie for betraying him.
Addie is now on Mars trying to find a way for humans to use nanites when in walks Sam, to bother their surprise.
Fun story of enemies to lovers and second chance love. I wish these stories were longer. All the Cyborgs have interesting back stories I wish could be explored in more depth. And life on Mars and terraforming is just glossed over. I’ll still keep reading as long as Ms Phillips keeps writing them (although she may run out of spaghetti western movie titles)😊
Addy came to Mars to solve a scientific problem, and fill her side of a bargain with her ex- husband. She didn't know that one of the cyborgs on Mars was the same man she fell in love with over a dozen years earlier when he had been a prisoner/unwilling test subject of an insane scientist. When she discovered that the scientist was going to declare Sam dead and hide him away to be able to keep torturing him, she helped Sam escape. But things went wrong and the scientist forced Addy to marry him, while the military took Sam away. Sam thought Addy betrayed him, and went on to be assigned to the terraforming of Mars. Can these two damaged people find their way back together? Or will the evil scientist get his hands on Sam again?
S-756, Sam, and Addie fell for each other in horrible circumstances. She was his light in the darkness and the memories of him were her light. She marries his tormentor and he believes she has betrayed him. Years later they meet again. Honestly, I do wish she had explained immediately why she did what she did and apologize for how it seemed, that she wasn’t betraying him. I think his hurt would have been allayed much sooner. There is a twist, a beautiful one and Sam reacts perfectly. I loved the H, h, the h’s surprise and the H’s incredible ‘horse’, and some of the secondary characters.

Another thrilling Cyborgs on Mars story! Judgement Day is here. I love this second chance romance! I did wonder if Sam would judge Addie too harshly for her previous actions, but love can overcome many obstacles. I get such a big kick out of the cyborg horses and their interactions with the women. These horses are every bit as protective as the big cyborgs who ride them! There are a few intriguing surprises here - very exciting! Best of all, is the delicious love that Sam and Addie have for each other!
The cyborgs are at it again in A Fistful of Cyborg. I am loving this series which combines syfy with the wild west style action. The characters in this one know each other and that back story plays a significant role in the tale, making it different from the first two in the series (books 0.5 & 1) and the reader is kept in the dark like our hero, Sam, of all the secrets that Addie has till just the right moment. This is a well written tale of love and redemption sure to keep the pages turning. Enjoy!
This book was so great! I was so worried that I wouldn’t like the heroine because she was a scientist and had worked for the company creating the cyborgs. Addie ended up breaking my heart with all she went through. Sam was SO much better than what was shared in previous books in the series. He rose to the occasion and is my favorite in this series so far. And how freaking hot were those love scenes?! Their chemistry was off the chart!
