A diamond heist. A government conspiracy. And two bullets to the chest.
For Special Agent Jasper James, living the relaxed Florida lifestyle just isn’t an option. Not when one of the FBI’s Most Wanted is standing over him with a loaded gun.
Instead of waking up in the emergency room, James expected to be waking up on the other side of eternity, but thanks to the stopping power of his bulletproof vest, he got a second chance at life. And now he’s hell-bent on making the man pay for his transgressions.
From the beach to the bayou, James pursues his failed executioner only to come up empty-handed. But there’s a reason for that . . . and he’s about to find out why.
J.D. Dudycha believes the best stories are written with characters overcoming real life struggles and everyone deserves a shot a redemption.
After a long stay in the baseball world, both as a player and a coach, J.D. has turned to his real passion, creating gritty, in-your-face characters who leap off the page and ooze practicality. You can’t help but continue to read because you don’t know where the story will take you next. J.D. is in the middle of creating two new action/adventure series.
J.D. spends his time with his wife and children in the sunshine of Florida. When he is able to step away from the world of writing fiction, he enjoys golf and fly fishing, and he never met a mountain he didn’t want to climb or an ocean he didn’t want to explore.
His inspiration is drawn from many different authors. Some of his favorites are C.S. Lewis, Clive Cussler, and Lee Child.
First installment in the new Jasper James FBI series. Lots of good guys, bad guys, and shoot 'em up, bang bang action. It's fast-paced and entertaining, and I loved the descriptions of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region - the author really hit his stride bringing that region to life. While there is a humdinger of a plot twist at the end, the book does lack a lot of background detail and character development.
Overall, Coastal Pursuit is a fun, easy read - more cozy mystery than hardened crime novel - and it should appeal to a wide audience. I will definitely follow the series into the next book.
This is not a genre I would have typically picked to read, but it was the monthly selection for the book club I’m in. I found myself really enjoying it and finished it in 2 1/2 days! It’s a quick and easy read that keeps you guessing! I will definitely try out another Dudycha book in the future.
