Thrown to the Wolf

My biggest issue with this book is the pacing. We spent most of book 2 and all of book 3 building to this huge conflict and... I didn't even realize when it had been solved. Truly, I was having such a hard time following along. It's all tied up and then we're back home and get 1 chapter of things 'better' - it was just so odd.
Also, trigger warning for rape. You have to read about it, and it's really disturbing and upsetting. Women, a man who's tied to the main characters, and implied on children. It's so gross. I really wish this could have been a lighter series overall, because I think this could have been very fun... like, a girl who is forming a pack and has to deal with repercussions and politics... figuring out her place in Sanctuary. But it turned into a dark adventure that wasn't even an adventure.
The author spent so little time building the conflict that when it was resolved I didn't understand how or why or what was next for the characters. The author put in an after note to the book that she wants to create light and fluffy reads (think Gilmore Girls over LOTR) about human women finding their pack. THAT would be interesting.
Also... Sylvan.

As a whole, I enjoyed this trilogy. It had a diverse cast of characters, intrigue, and spice. But it also had waayyyy too much chosen one stuff that I didn’t love.
I liked getting to know each of the MMCs together and separately and that everyone effed up (except maybe one person) at least once. It added a nice dose of reality to a very unreal tale.
Spice: 4.5/5

The synopsis seemed to indicate that this was the last book of Jules's arc in the series, and boy, did I have issues.
I absolutely hated the inclusion of Hawk and Jack in the FMC Jules's harem. They didn't fit well with the pack as a whole and seemed way more into each other, with Jules as an invited third wheel. The interactions between the three took up way too much of the story, and I started skimming after around 47% of the book because I just didn't care about why the couple were so invested in mating Jules. The indecisiveness from both of the men to forever tie with Julie was super irritating as the discussion happened practically every time they talked. The pair's entire relationship with her was based on insta-lust turned insta-love, and I was not convinced at all. I swear Hawk had more sex with Jules than Jules had with any of her other mates, and I couldn't even describe his character more than having a . His personality was absolutely forgettable, but he kept taking up so much of the writing.
I also did not like the introduction of the Brandon/Aaron MM relationship - it was one thing to leave it as "fun for sexy times" and another to turn it into a full relationship. Even after the explanation from Brandon about how all the possibilities he saw could have gone to create Jules's harem differently, I didn't understand where Brandon and Aaron's deep connection came from. Additionally, they seemed to have more intimacy with each other as the book went on rather than with Jules. This is a supposed to be a reverse harem with Jules as a focus here!
I didn't understand the alternate dimension at all. The previous book had mentioned that the evil wolves were skeptical that the Earth-dimension wolves truly had guns, yet the protagonists were all driving SUVs to the rescue. Other than a cursory mention of guns by some characters, nobody made a huge deal about the firearms. We didn't get any explanations of how the portal travel worked - they were all already in the alternate dimension by the time the book started.
The metaphysical psychic stuff was super confusing, and I completely did not get the point of why it was introduced. In fact, I didn't really even get the point of Tirians at all - everyone barely shifted and fought with guns and swords and magical crystals in most battles. Sylvan's forced bond with Jules turned out to be , so I didn't understand why it was even done and focused on so much in the first two books of the series. Jules was described to be so dominant and powerful as a Tirian in the prior books - she was a total TSTL character that was directed around like a doll other than when she demanded sexy times. Any "power" she exerted was as and never at her own perogative.
Honestly, the first half of book seemed more like smut with an incidental action plot rather than a well-planned story with some spicy relationship development. "You need to learn to work together as a team and bond because I said so" turned into "let's have sex all the time and bite each other mate even though we still don't really know each other!" Gah - I had enjoyed the first book since it had focused much more about how Jules found men she was attracted to, but the introduction of a world-changing action plot with such a weak FMC just made everything super annoying. The mating bites between everyone was super rushed, and for people that were stuck in a foreign world, they were all rather trusting of strangers.....
The latter half fortunately toned down on the sex but went way overboard in gratuitous violence. I didn't see any actual planning at all on the part of any of men for the intended rescue. Most of it was already arranged by Sylvan from prophecies before he left, and the final battle was mostly luck with deus ex machina plot devices. As an additional note, I didn't get the point of adding an entire POV chapter from Sylvan - it added nothing to the story as we had already gotten most of his sob story childhood from previous flashbacks.
I'll still continue with reading the rest of the books in the expanded series to see if the new characters in the standalone books are any better, but this main introduction arc following Jules really wasn't the greatest from the author. I've enjoyed their other series more.

It’s well written, but there is a lot of rape and bad violence in this that is different from the first two - warning to the even mildly sensitive.

Someone needs to come pick my jaw up off the floor for me because I can’t do it myself. My mind is just blown. This book was intense on so many different levels. It starts with a bang *wink, wink* from the very beginning and only continues to get hotter throughout the book. But if you’ve read the Pack Heat series from book 1, you already know to expect TONS of steam. If you haven’t been with Jules since book 1, what are you doing here now??? You won’t understand this book at all without the 1st 2, so do not pass “Go” and dont you dare think about collecting that $ until you’ve read them. Go pick up The Wolf at my Door and see what all the fuss is about. To all the Jack haters out there.. I think my favorite ask hat will have you coming for #TeamJack by the end of the book (see what I did there? *wiggly eyebrow raise*).
For reals though, in all seriousness, this book is EVERYTHING. It’s long and detailed and there were many times where I had to just put it down and let my brain marinate in what just happened. Because you’re dealing with visions and the Wolf gods, and psychic mind melding spaces and whatnot, sometimes (mostly towards the end) it can get a little confusing as to what the meaning of some things are. Those are the moments I had to stop and just think and then pick up later and read some more until you come to that ah-ha moment. The book ends on a high note for Jules and her pack and there’s even a teaser for what’s to come from this stud filled world next!!! Now the question is: what ever shall I do with myself while waiting for something else in this world to come out? I don’t want to leave Jules and her hot as heck pack, but it’s time to say good bye; enjoy your time with your men girl ✌️.
Congratulations to Ms. Hall on a job well done. I’m so honored to have been privy to your brilliant mind’s work.

Pack Heat series
I really did like these books. The heat was off the charts, the story line was good, and then men where hot! I liked the fmc but I wished she didn't second guess herself so much, she was very back and forth. I guess my only other complaint would be that while the series was great and had a lot of detail, that sometimes the detail was a bit to much. Don't get me wrong, I love details on books but sometimes there was so much detail in things that it took away from the story itself and created a bit of confusion on what was actually going on. Maybe that's only my opinion. However I did like this series and do recommend it!

Rushed ending
That was really disappointing and kind of a waste of time. Jules is a total drama llama who creates drama where there is none. I was soooo sick of the vague dreams/visions that I was ready to throw my kindle if another one showed up. I'm STILL mad about Shawn. The ending was really rushed and a lot of things never got wrapped up or the explanations just didn't make sense. Basically, I'm glad this series is done and I probably won't read anything from this author again.

Argh, this gets so dark! There are lots of ups and downs. Secrets revealed. Hearts broken. Hearts saved. And a sweet HEA.
There's a lot of new revelations in this story. Big mess ups and relationships evolving. A lot of intense drama in the pack and in quest they are on. I loved the relationship growth and character details.
I did struggle with some of the story though. Before I had kids, I used to read a lot of the suspense genre. The type that might have had a dark psychological twist in it. This reminds me of that. When the pack crosses over the gate into the other world, they confront an abusive power that has enslaved, tortured, raped, sacrificed, and forced bred men and women. I was an emotional wreck by the end of this story.
I think that in this instance, the author may have run out of space when telling the story, so I do warn you that there wasn't a lot of 'aftercare'. I definitely would have liked to spend more time in the 'glow' of their HEA and the details of their pack in day to day life. I definitely recommend following the link to the free download of Joining the Pack to get a bit more.

This series was pretty good. Lots of world building. personally though, I just didn't love the relationship dynamics. I feel like some of the guys would have been fine without Jules. The story also got a bit convoluted. I think the author had a lot of really great ideas, but didn't want to draw out this series too much so it felt very crammed into this book.

This took a left turn somewhere, into wolf gods, conduits, other dimensions, and shit.
It kind of dropped in action and didn't keep my interest.
It's still a solid read, but not my cup of tea.
Loved the use of Australian English, though!

Well, I wish I hadn't read the whole series & wasted my time & it gave me one of those bad book-hangovers that makes me not want to pick up a book & read (unheard of for me!).
This book (#3) was bad, it did not hold my attention enough & I had to force myself to finish the book. The plot was slow even with less sex scenes than book 1 & 2. Way too much random stuff happening that either didn't need to be included or made no sense. All of that sex in all 3 books took away from the relationship development and character development & actual story for me. I ended up skimming a lot of the sex scenes as they were just overwhelming in a bad way for me. I also hate the idea of a woman's heat driving the sex in these paranormal books, as it's so disturbing to me to think that it doesn't matter who it is, but just hormones driving the characters mad to have sex -with anybody.
There was actual movement in the plot in this book, though erratic, but things seemed odd & didn't make sense a lot of the time. A lot of unanswered questions & a lot of things that weren't explained, also hindered the enjoyment factor. I don't understand the whole RH set up with this group, as I still did NOT feel the "love", only the sexual lust. I didn't like most of the guys (with one -I down right hated)- at all, and Julie/Jules was likable one moment, and then annoying as hell the next. She has way too much drama and internal dialogue in the whole series. The dream/foretelling of future events were dumb, not even believable because they were so vague as to not seem to be of any help or a reason to drive the plot. The "seer" aspect just seemed lame and unbelievable because their visions weren't really given, so it was all a vague idea that they were projecting on the plot/group. My overall impression, this book (#3) felt like it had been written while the author was drunk or under medication, because it felt very different to the first 2 books. Too much was just random BS that didn't really pull the story together for me & left me hating having wasted my time. Won't be reading more from this author either.

These books had amazing potentially. The story lines, different spin on wolf shifters, mating, and an entire place dedicated to respecting the word no is pretty amazing.
However, the lack of details and set scenes to explain the visions and how they ended up in them or the psychic space in all of the books was aggravating to attempt to read through. I was constantly going back, assuming I’d missed something. It made the story difficult to follow.
The double paragraphs. It happened in the second book and two or three time’s in this one where the paragraphs repeated themselves back to back.
There is way too much that was left without closure.
All this build up on the mating marks being a big deal, but they’d been home for weeks without problems.
All the change they intended to make for the leadership of sanctuary, but zero information on it.
The black wolf was overly built up throughout the books and couldn’t have possibly been any more anticlimactic.
The Urieldariel was so obvious that they were bad and just makes me think the entire pack is stupid.
Who drinks booze from strangers in a strange place?

I was super into the first 2 books and really wanted to know the whole mystery behind the Great Wolf/Wolves? and the reasoning behind everything.
I felt a little confused at the whole situation. I still don’t understand who was what, Lonan vs the black wolf, Branwen vs the white wolf? That whole other Wolfvania world or whatever... what’s up with that? Is the black wolf really good or bad or what? I thought Lonan was the black wolf, but then he wasn’t? So Branwen isn’t the white wolf? My mind is spinning.....
I also felt sad when Julie felt like she was in the middle of either Jack and Hawk or Aaron and Brandon and wanted to leave them alone with each other and felt not wanted/left out. I don’t like feeling those things when reading reverse harems so that kind of put me off a little bit. I’m glad all of them tried to show their love for her too, but still.
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the other 2 books but the sex was still pretty damn hot.
I felt a little confused at the whole situation. I still don’t understand who was what, Lonan vs the black wolf, Branwen vs the white wolf? That whole other Wolfvania world or whatever... what’s up with that? Is the black wolf really good or bad or what? I thought Lonan was the black wolf, but then he wasn’t? So Branwen isn’t the white wolf? My mind is spinning.....

2.5 stars rounded up
Not really sure what happened with this series. Book 1 set things up in a particular direction and then by Book 3 the author took it somewhere completely different. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I just think it could have been executed better.
Also, I'm not a huge fan when relationships are switched up during the last book in a series. Brandon and Aaron were lovers in the previous books but there was nothing romantic between them. Then all of a sudden they became mates in this one??
I accepted the semi-instalove between certain characters during and after the Heat because that's apparently what is meant to happen, but the Brandon-Aaron mating came out of nowhere. I definitely wish the author could have put some scenes in previous books to set that up a bit more. Her MM scenes are hot though.

What a conclusion!
I enjoyed this book the most out of the three not gonna lie. I think for me because it had more action and I could see where the author was going with it. In saying that I felt like it was too crammed to really get a sense of the main plot. In the previous ones I mentioned that it was heavy on the smut and in this one? A few times I felt like it was added just cause.
I felt like this could have been a 4 book series with how much this book was overloaded or better yet just had some contents taken out. I think it was because all of that was lacking in the first two so it was crammed in this one. There was no real balance in the first two in regards to the relationships between the characters and the overall plot of the story. Other than that I thought it was a lot more thrilling then previous in the series and got what I wanted in the sense that I got more of the wolf side and I found it fascinating and intriguing, the authors take on wolves! It definitely kept it interesting for me which kept me captivated.
The characters were another mix feeling. Good ending but too much stuff...
While this book overall was good, I agree with another reviewer that it felt like a lot of story got jam packed into this book that was missing in the others (particularly book 2). There were a lot of mates thrown in all at once and things are happening everywhere in a constant bombardment of struggle. For example, the meep meep storyline was, in my opinion, an unnecessary conflict. It creates some tensions with the mate who has pulled back but it is such a small part in that plot point. How am I supposed to be mad and exasperated with everyone? I was definitely feeling Julie's struggle with balancing everything. Also, I believe that Jack's character was underdeveloped. I didn't like him and wish he was excluded from the harem (though Hawk is my favorite) because he is just not a good person. He's nasty to Hawk, nasty to Jules, and nasty to everyone else. I get that he is the emotionally scarred one, but there is never an opportunity to like him. That is earmarked for future Jules to sort through but I definitely wouldn't want to be connected with him while we "see how this goes". Mating is a serious commitment to be stuck with him.
I do want to say thank you for the way you broke out the epilogue into a novella. I am not at all interested in that part of the storyline so having it separated so I can skip it without losing the continuity of the series. This was a nice ending to a good story.

Oh my ears and nose! This book has what the previous two in the series were missing: action (not just the sexy kind), adventure, emotional depth, good vs. evil, and a definite villain or three. While I enjoyed the hot and heavy hijinks and the laugh-out-loud lines in The Wolf at My Door and Cry Wolf, it felt like there was something missing. I'm so glad I stuck with Julie, aka Jules, and her men/wolves. At first, these people have a vague idea and plan (it's a terrible plan!) to rescue some people from the other side of their local portal. When the quest to save people and restore balance kicks in, this story becomes an epic fantasy.
I love how this part of Julie and her pack's story is a quest. I enjoyed seeing another world, experiencing some silly things (meep meeps), some sexy things, and some horrific things. The culture of the Volkens is revealed in all its evil, disgusting detail. Sylvan's agenda and true motives are revealed, but it takes a while to get there. I'm concerned about that ending, though. It feels like things aren't really finished.

3.5-3.75 stars for all three Pack Heat books.
Quickie review: I liked this series. I do think it is a little too long and could have used some editing. The first two books mainly explore Jules meeting her men and beginning relationships with them. The last book was more action-filled and had a different atmosphere, more focused on the pack solidifying and fighting evil. It was a little confusing as to what was going on worldbuilding- and mythology-wise. The series' story was good, though. There is a ton of sexy scenes, which I don't mind, but it slowed down the forward story movement at times and I sometimes wanted the scenes to be shorter. There was a little too much angst in relation to pack politics and Jules had to constantly check in with each of her 6 mates. I enjoyed the first two books more than the last book, where it became a bit tedious. There is definitely a free love vibe and some of the men were mated to Jules and each other. The MM inclusion was okay, but I prefer my reverse harem to be all focused on the heroine and the men to only be in love with her. Still, I liked Jules and her men. Every single relationship is explored thoroughly and defined. The story was interesting and the writing good. This series is a different take on shifters and was entertaining and sexy.

I loved this book so much! There were so many amazing moments and pieces of world building. Going into this book I was very curious about this other world the book the black wolf and his followers lived in. I loved getting to see the different creatures and culture. Meep meep. I also loved seeing Jules’ pack and the bonds within it develop. There were definitely a few times I wanted to smack certain people to get them to wake up and see what they had and not to throw things away but it was still amazing to see the growth and development. We got to learn more about the great wolf and seers in this book. The emotions and feels in this book grabbed me and refused to let go. Some of it was heart breaking at times and I wanted to just wrap characters up to protect them but these characters are so real with their flaws and needs. There was some lovely steamy moments and I loved some of the new characters and want to know more about them. Don’t want to say too much for fear of giving anything away but wow. Definitely a must read book. Jules is so kick ass and yet very much in her own head and her pack helped her with that. I really loved this conclusion it was so satisfying and yet there is room for so much more in this world and I want to see more of it.

The third Pack Heat is going to bring some steam and sweetness!
You come across those series every once in a while that catch your interest. This one caught my eye in RHRA when Sam posted a blurb for the first book, but since then it’s been a wild ride that’s had me by the throat. I’ve been bit! Lol... Seriously, it’s one of those weird unexpected things, where there is so much reality of the day to day crap mixed in with the supernatural, that you just kind of shake your head when you realize Brandon is saying something particularly profound or you’re realizing something you really needed to be reminded of in regards to keeping relationships functioning at 100%. This book again shows that Sam has leveled up. Whatever you expected to find as the arc for Jules and her guys finishes up, you’re going to need to buckle up because she gives you all that and more. I was blown out of the water with things I couldn’t have anticipated and found that while I wasn’t really looking for them, they were everything that made my jaded little reader heart catch fire. Kudos, Sam... You can melt a kindle and make me smile!

Best read as a binge read 🤓 has triggers please read review
This was a great read and I’m happy there will be more, fortunately, these three books are based on Jules her mates and their adventure, it ends in the 3rd book, the future books will only enhance.
I suggest reading in a binge session, I’m glad I didn’t have to wait, the way the author writes is like a tv episode, there’s no recap you just dive straight in- and considering one of the books starts with a sex scene...
The story is easy to follow; Human, Tirians, Volkens Wolves, Gods, Goddesses, Good and Evil, not forgetting the patriarchal and matriarchal systems and portals! Hmmm, practically everything covered!
The sex scenes are hotter than hot, FM, MFM and so on (not spoiling!!) however I would say that if you are not a fan of MM, that these books carry a lot of it (extremely well written me thinks).
Also, there are more than a few disturbing scenes, Brutality, Rape, Torture and Murder could cause trigger,
However, I’ve rated it 5 stars and will be posting on Goodreads and Facebook as one of my favourites for this year.

This final book in the Pack Heat series was intense! There was so much going on to constantly keep you entranced with both the story and the characters. I was amazed with Jules and her ability to understand her men. Even if she doesn't at first or makes a mistake that hurts their feelings, she is able to stop and focus on what is truly important within her pack. Their true strength comes from being able to understand one another and strengthen that bond. It was heartwarming to see such a breakthrough on an emotional level, especially when it got to a point when it wasn't certain if all the members of the pack would cooperate or remain devoted to one another. Each pack member battled through insecurities, guilt, and other issues but were able to overcome them and succeed in getting to that final endpoint. But is it final? Not all the questions were answered by the end of this book, and it easily allows for the story to branch off with other characters and continue to amaze us with Sanctuary and its people. I can't wait to see what Sam Hall does next!

I loved the emotional dynamic between Jules and her mates. Their one on one scenes, and Jules’ inner monologue, are great. Having said that, this book was a lot to take in. It is 459 pages long and full of action, new locations, new characters and new storylines. It might have benefited from being split into two separate books. I found the large number of Jules’ mates to be confusing at times. I think this was the first book I’ve read where the FMC had over 4 mates, so that could have been part of the problem, lack of experience on my end. Combine that with a wealth of new characters and I was at times confused. Overall I’d give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Well this is a favorite series of mine and I am sad to see that this part of Jules' journey has ended. This book just jumps right into the story. I love that about this series. So as you know they are on a mission but while they entered another realm there are obstacles that get in the way. Will there be actually claiming of mates. You know that Jules is trying to analyze everything but also wants the guys to want it as much as she does. Once they are all mated, how strong will her pack be. So when they are on this mission they meet so many atrocities that they decide they will help anyone they can. Can they defeat the evil black wolf? Will they lose anyone? So much happens in this book that once you get into it, you will be shocked by the time you get to the end. I was like what the heck. The heat level in this book is fire alarm hot. So there is your warning. I honestly cannot wait to see what Sam Hall has in store for us readers.

1st off if you haven’t been introduced to Mrs. Sam Hall, consider this your formal introduction. Tea and crumpets, coffee and doughnuts, whatever gets it for you I am setting it up and I’ll even put out a doily if it gets you to the table, cause OMG she’s a phenomenal writer.
2nd this is the 3rd book (the number thing here looks weird but stick with me) in a story Arc. You may not start here! I know some of you will see that as a challenge, but for the love of all that is sexy and sweet don’t spoil this for yourself! Would you want to see that hot male crush at 65 before you see the naughty body they rock at 25? NOOO so don’t skip ahead. And once you read book one you won’t want to!
If you are a bibliophile and you have a healthy sexual attitude and love of reverse harem, you may have already read books 1 and 2 and, like me, have been salivating for book 3. Ready that venom filled maw, book 3 is mate worthy and so much more than you ever anticipated. It has bright “ why don’t you ever do that for me dear?” moments of group togetherness that make you see love everywhere at a level previously unbelievable. It has darkness so dark and foul you question your moral beliefs and faith in everyone’s potential to be an indoctrinated b*stard worthy of torture. At last but I’m no way least it has the sexiest sex of sexiness. M/M, F/M, F/M/M, and every variation you’ve always wanted, but your mum didn’t tell you to ask for! My heart soared, raged, bled, and mended the better for it. I hope the same holds true for you.

Sam Hall has outdone herself once again. I loved the Pack Heat books 1-3, and I’m excited to read the rest of the series. As always you become so entangled with the textured storytelling, flamboyant characters and mastermind world building. Sam is a genius when it comes to balancing the yummy steaming scenes and the masterful storyline that always has you pondering, questioning, and feeling it all. I love that Sam’s stories make you question all your internal perceptions, that she pushes and triggers and always opens space for you to explore your internal emotional world in conjunction with her storytelling. The books were written in Julies POV, and this created a very intimate mirror to perceive the other characters. Enjoy, this is no fluffy love story, this is a ride!

Hot hot hot! Thrown to the Wolf starts off with a bang and just keeps throwing you action after action. Jules and her men are just amazing! They're the harem you wish you could have, in every way. The story just exploded out of the gate with this book and ended in a beautiful and happy way. Wolf gods, oh my! What a fantastic ending to the series. Sam Hall has given us an epic story with amazing dialogue, hot steamy scenes and a plot that will have you thinking about it for days! Jules is an amazing heroine and her story is such an amazing adventure I know any fan of Sam or any fan of RH will adore!

OMG, this series!!!! I cannot stress strongly enough how phenomenal it is!!! The characters are real to life giving you ALL the feels! The plotline is intense and the world building is detailed and out of this world amazing!!!
I love that Jules and her men have gotten their happy ending while also leaving the door open for the series to continue with new character stories from some not so new characters!!!
Sam Hall has the extraordinary ability of bringing you to your knees with deep emotions and helping you to stand again with full out belly laughs!!! Now is a great time to fall in love with a new author if you've never read her books!!

Thrown To The Wolf is an exceptional story! From the first page you will be pulled in and taken on one hell of a ride. Jules and her men are absolutely incredible and I even eventually came to love Jack. So many questions and who ends up in the Harem are all resolved in this book. This final book is action packed, suspenseful, intriguing, engaging, and the hotness level is completely off the charts. This book was seriously amazing, actually the whole series is phenomenal, and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars it most certainly deserves it! I'm looking forward to reading more of Sam's books. ❤️
