"I hated him. I hated everything about him. But more than that, I hated myself. I hated I allowed myself to become this weak, pathetic person who accepted whatever Jacob did to me."
Wow. Just wow! This is a much darker side to Ms. Webb than I've seen before, but I'll tell ya, she knocked this one out of the park!! My heart broke for Ally. It broke for Jax. I hated Jacob with every fiber of my being and it only got stronger as the pages turned!
Jacob. There was a time Ally had been swept off her feet by this man. He's a handsome, successful man, with aspirations to run for political office. She thought he would give her the world. But, all he's given her is misery. And bruises. He's isolated her from friends and family, convinced her to quit a job she absolutely loved, and now, someone is after her - all because of him. Having a personal security guard a.k.a. babysitter is isolating her even more. But, when Jaxson shows up, something in her stirs - a feeling telling her that this life - her life - doesn't have to be this way.
As the stalker becomes more aggressive, more persistent, more......threatening, what is uncovered will rock her to the core. Will her life ever be one of happiness and freedom, or will whoever is behind this take everything away?
I was riveted to this book!! I felt the tension, the despair, the hatred, the manipulation, and the desire to just be free, that Ally was feeling. I didn't trust Jacob from page one!! And Jaxson? Well, he's my favorite kind of damaged hero. I think you'll love him too.
I'd definitely recommend this one!!
There are triggers of domestic violence and war-time PTSD. So if you're sensitive to those, let me say, I'm sorry you went through those experiences and please know, you are not alone.
