Cori Wamsley writes the Soul Sisterhood series, best friend stories with a side of sweet romance. Her books are enchanting and witty women’s fiction, woven with the magic of self-discovery, history, adventure, and falling in love. She has been writing since middle school and started because, after years of loving books, she thought she could write them herself. But she was wrong, lol! Years later, she has found that her characters won’t leave her alone till she tells their stories. They live in her head and tell her little tidbits about themselves. Sometimes she sees it as a movie, and sometimes she hears it as a whisper in her thoughts, but it’s always something that makes her want to pull on that thread and unravel the story so she can put it together for others to enjoy. Cori has written eleven books, with her latest coming out in March of 2025, Good in Theory. It’s the third in the Soul Sisterhood series. Aside from writing books, she also runs a small publishing house where she helps authors write and publish their personal stories, as well as some fiction. She lives in Pittsburgh, PA, US, with her husband and two creative tween daughters. When she's not at her desk, she loves painting, crafting, playing piano, and singing. She's also into reading sweet romance and dreaming about traveling to Europe.

Best for Coaches with Blogs; Her Own Big Business Card
I have written several non-fiction books myself and helped others edit theirs. This book feels a little too scattered and not as focused as it could be. From the introduction, it seems like the author is writing this book specifically for coaches, not just any business owner. She has some very interesting material at the start of the book specific to coaches, but that specific focus fell away as the book went on. Although she addresses this very topic, I didn't feel like she had a good sense of who her ideal reader is. Is it for coaches or any business owner? She should have refined her avatar and made the book speak to that person. In one chapter, she gives hints about how to use your previous writing—especially a blog—to fill out your book. Seriously, how many business owners even have something like that, let alone have any previous writing align with their book topic? I also felt like she didn't spend enough time on each book topic to be helpful for the fledgling author for whom writing a book is something they see as being way out of their wheelhouse. In the PDF ARC copy I received, the book is only 97 pages long, but the intro doesn't start until page 10. Considering there are 12 chapters, 87 pages give little space for the book’s actual content—and the margins on all sides are very wide. This is not to say that the author does not provide some helpful information, but I don't think it is enough for the true business owner/author newbie the book is supposedly for. You'll have to do a lot of reading between the lines and figure things out on your own to truly get a sense of and apply this author's writing method. Of course, at the end, the author links to her courses and writing intensives so she can further profit from—errrrr, assist—your book-writing endeavor. Sigh…
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
As a writing coach, I appreciate that Wamsley walks readers through not only the "what" but also the "how" of writing a book for their business. She covers everything from gathering your ideas, to organizing them into an outline, to how to draft successfully -- and quickly. Plus, she tackles writer's block, fear, and imposter syndrome so that her audience won't fall prey to some of the common obstacles that keep great ideas from becoming finished books. Filled with practical steps and a warm, friendly narrative presence, this book is a hands-on guide for making your business book a reality.
