Helene Hadsell is proof not only of her dynamic philosophy of life but of the entire New Thought Movement’s emphasis on successful living through optimism. Her practice of positive thinking in the energetic pursuit of her goals has brought her rich rewards in terms of spiritual, physical, and material well-being. Mrs. Hadsell authored four best-selling books, including Contesting: The Name It & Claim It Game, in which she recounts the truly amazing events in her life that bear out her conviction that anyone can achieve anything their mind can conceive if they firmly resolve to do so.
The author, Helen Hadsell, has won everything she ever wanted - cars, a trip to Hawaii, money and a microwave oven (why she would want such a dangerous thing as a microwave is beyond me, but everyone to their taste).
In the US there are apparently all sorts of competitions one can take part in. I´ve never noticed any in Denmark where I live and am not really interested in writing slogans for various firms, such as Coca-Cola and the like, but I´m sure many are.
What attracted me to Helen´s book was her belief in the power of positive thinking.
She found out that winners of such competitions all had the following in common:
1) They decided what they wanted. 2) They imagined they had it. 3) They KNEW they would get it.
This is important information.
Helen was a Silva Mind graduate, which gave her a good basic understanding and knowledge of spiritual principles to help her with her various winning projects.
In this book, she tells us about various competitions she and her family participated in - what they did, and what they won.
Helen also provides us with lots of practical advice about what to do to win the various competitions. She often sent in up to fifty coupons for a specific competition, if the prize was particularly attractive. She impresses on us the importance of precisely following the rules and regulations of the firm offering the competition.
I see this book is at present enormously expensive on Amazon – I bought it as a paperback (in Danish) years ago. But if you can get hold of the book at a reasonable price and love competitions, I recommend that you get it.
Helene was one (if not THE) winner of her time. Every contest she joined, she won. I too have won plenty of giveaways (68 when I'm writing this review) and I was hoping to find inspiration on how to get on a winning streak again. The book didn't really give me the answers on the eb and flow of winning, but it did help me to get back into the winning mindset. For people who want to start winning, this is for sure a must read.
Helene's story is almost unbelievable, and I'm guessing that's why many people have ignored this book. I found this to be a great read, if not for entering contests, at least to know its possible if you believe.
Absolutely worth reading, a wonderfully interesting life. I wish that she'd written a lot more - she mentions things in passing that were fascinating and you can tell there were things that could have been mentioned, but weren't.
As someone who has experienced these events, I can say I gained a lot from reading the portion of the book written by Helene. Very accessible, and feels like like so many things, all that is needed is practice.
Interesting positive thinking book. So far I haven't won anything except some fine books from Goodreads. I will try to use the concepts in it and if I do win something , I will post it here.
This book is a must read, as are all of Helene’s books. It can change your life. I would highly recommend each of her books. And I’m blessed for having read this. Now I want to meet her children and interview them.

Summary: Helene Hadsell is the contest queen. She has won everything from large kitchen appliances to a home. This book is her telling her story.
Review: This book was a quick and enjoyable read. The ideas presented on how our thoughts can help us to obtain/achieve what we want I found to be true. It is not a book full of hocus pocus but a book based on the teachings from a woman who has proven success.
If you are into entering contests and sweepstakes this is a very interesting and a fun must read book. This won't teach you how to enter them, you will learn how Helene and her family won a lot of prizes. Times have changed since this book was written, but Carolyn does have some of her comments sprinkled in the book to give a more modern view.
I loved how Helene talks how she attracted what she wanted to win. Prepared for the prize, making room for it, sending out the good vibes to the universe to win. How it can be used in many aspects in your life.
Overall, a fun book to read if you are entering sweepstakes as a hobby!
While this book is not overly explanatory, it does provide solid insights for those interested in manifesting their dreams. Each chapter is titled with a single key takeaway, which is commendable. However, if you’re looking for in-depth explanations or a direct connection between the chapter titles and their content, you might find the book lacking. The stories often feel tangential, repetitive, and disconnected from the main points, which can make reading the entire book feel like a time investment without much payoff. I would have appreciated if the key points were explored more directly or portrayed in a more engaging, concise manner rather than through repetitive storytelling.
One of the best books I’ve ever read. This woman is a master, and we should all be thankful that she took the time to share her skills in her abilities with the rest of us. The writing style is amazing. She doesn’t have a list not complex and it just flow so naturally, her level of positivity and clarity is something I haven’t really experienced and it was a privilege to read her words and thoughts.
