As a childbirth educator and doula, I can honestly say I enjoyed this book more than the full version.

Unlike the longer/full version, it is geared toward the regular people who want to support a birthing person in their lives, but who are not actual birth workers. It is detailed, yet to the point. It is a great manual for someone who wants to better understand birth in general and unmedicated birth specifically, as well as how to support it.

Plus, you get information about the most common routines and procedures in the hospital, what they are for, why they do them and how they are done. This super informative book is good enough to read alone without a childbirth class AND it is an excellent accompaniment to any childbirth education series you might be taking with your partner.

If you only want to read one book about labor and birth, try this. It won't disappoint.

My husband read this book like sipping a glass of water in the desert. He was a busy businessman working everyday knowing no day non stop that I had no idea how to ask him joining birthing class. Ms Penny made my husband a real hero that in no time he understood his homework during our labor. i was giving birth abroad, a foreigner with no family abroad. I never thought I could make it. Glad that My doula introduced us this book, everything happened like a magic until we met our little angel.

This is a must read for any new dad.

A lot of times, pregnancy is discussed in great detail to women. But to men? Almost never. This book is a great way to educate those coming into pregnancy with no (or little) prior knowledge.

This book is extremely factual and covers every facet of birth that you can think of, and that partners will actually have to face. And it goes for any style of birth too. This book will give you the best way to support your significant other, and to have the knowledge to know and talk to the Doctors/OBs/Doulas and understand what they say.
