If Eldon wants to keep his ranch, he has to find a wife. But the woman who stole his heart has a great career - and no clue that her best friend can't do without her. Eldon needs a wife to keep the old family ranch. But marrying is a problem – because secretly, his heart has always belonged to his sweet childhood friend.
Up-and-coming actress Kay is supposed to be in love with the movie’s hero - but she’d rather rake hay at high noon than kiss that particular actor. Told to fake feelings or get out, she’s about to lose everything. Eldon’s time on the ranch is running out, and Kay can’t face losing her career. But when Eldon decides to coach Kay through her block, helping out might bring even this tough cowboy to his knees. Love is easy - but spice it up with reality, and romance on the ranch gets real complicated, real quick.
If you like endless skies, witty banter, and a happily-ever-after, you don’t want to miss this charming romance! Clean and full of humor, the heartwarming story will give you true love with a delicious sprinkle of side characters. A Cowboy’s Best Friend is the first book in a contemporary western cowboy romance series. The novels are best read in order, but each is a stand-alone novel. Get your copy now! Read all the novels by Bee:
Sweet Springs Ranch 1. A Cowboy's Best Friend 2. A Cowboy's Sweet Enemy 3. A Cowboy’s Fake Wife 4. A Cowboy's Fair Lady
Snowbound 1. The First Snow 2. The Snow Maid 3. The Snow Adventure 4. The Snow Family
A lighthearted, relaxing read. No trama or tragedy. Best friends who grow up to follow their dreams separately realize they have a dream in common that brings them back together. This story's plot has mild complications that does not cause much angst in the cowboy or his best friend. No steamy sex scenes or offensive language. This is not a story that presents a mystery or causes the reader to think deeply. It is a sweet, romantic story with a simple plot and likeable characters. This story was a refreshing change from more serious novels I read. I look forward to reading the other titles in this series. Thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this title.
I received an ARC copy of this book to read and review: This is a delightful romantic tale of childhood friends who have stayed in touch into adulthood, despite differing lifestyles and career paths: she, an actress, and he, a serious cowboy. Kay's request of Eldon to help her get into character for an up-coming movie in which she will star with a famous actor in a cowboy setting, opens the lid on his feelings for her that he has kept tightly locked away over the years of what he thought she wanted to keep as a platonic friendship. The angst and tension that arise as this "box of emotions" is unleashed, is so real and tangible, and had me rooting for Kay and Eldon!! A thoroughly enjoyable sweet and clean romance that will warm your heart and give you a happy smile with the HEA ending!
This is a wonderful, heartwarming story. Kay and Eldon have been best friends for a very long time. Kay left for Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Eldon has a lot of responsibilities on the ranch: his aging grandparents, his siblings and the running of the ranch. Kay comes back to have Eldon help her get into cowgirl character for her big break. After a kiss El decides that wherever Kay is he wants to be. He makes the trip back to LA with her. Needless to say - - a cowboy in LA? You really need to read this cute story! I received an advance copy of this book and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.
This is a fun story of childhood friends falling in love with each other but afraid to admit anything for fear of rejection and losing their best friend. I really liked Kay, who moved away from Sweet Springs to LA to pursue an acting career. I also liked her best friend, Eldon, a cowboy who still lives and works on his family's ranch in South Dakota.
This is the first book I have read by Bee Brooks and I really enjoyed it. I want to check out what else she has written and I want to read the next book in the series. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This was a great cowboy romance about Eldon and Kay who have been best friends all their lives. Eldon runs the family ranch for his grandparents and Kay is trying to be a star in Los Angeles. The author gives a lot of detail to ranch life, friendships, brothers, the scenery, and growing up. Some of the best things are right in front of us. We just need to stop, observe, think, and act on the facts. This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest review on my own.
First, I have to say I LOVE cowboys!! Eldon and Kay may have been best friends for years, but it took them forever to figure out they loved each other. It was nice to see them finally being honest and open about their feelings...with help from Gramps & Grandma Marta!! She was funny and not so subtle. However they got to their start of HEA doesn’t matter; they got there. Can’t wait to see how Lane falls!! My favorite part of his wad was at the end of the wedding smh and lol! I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 stars. I needed to see a little more build up or display of actions that told me they loved one another. It had promise despite a somewhat contrived storyline connected to the film. It failed to execute for me because I didn't feel the characters in love. I would have liked to but it felt like that took a back seat to a lot of details about ranching and the grandma whose actions we were supposed to understand but left me flummoxed.
I loved this sweet, cowboy/actress, best friends romance. The characters and the storyline were golden. A wonderful start to a series and with the ending, I'm super looking forward to the clash that Lane will have in his search (or lack there of) for HEA.

A Cowboy’s Best Friend is a sweet and clean romance that is delightful to read. This book keeps you engaged from the beginning with a cute storyline, strong main characters, and great dialogue. I can’t wait to see how the supporting characters play out in the series. I received an ARC and have chosen to give my honest opinion.
They had been friends as children. They even took some classes together at high school. They could and would always tell the truth to each other. If they didn’t tell it all the other person knew. They were closer than their real family. But realizing their different goals in life, made one move far away. They would always be be friends She went to Hollywood and he stayed on the farm
I have no complaints about the characterizations, description, dialogue, grammar or editing. But I was bored to distraction. This book focuses on each character's reaction to the other's facial expressions an smallest as they do a very dull pull-push of attraction and hesitation.
I like the characters; they are realistic. The story is believable but never boring. It held my interest and I want to see more of this family. I look forward to reading this series by Bee Brooks.
This is wonderfully written! Anger, hurt and all the feeling that go with have someone taken away you and flaunted right before you. It's a love story with a real twist to it that kept me reading. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Really enjoyed this sweet and clean read. I loved how they were both able to follow and experience their dreams while not losing each other along the way. Most definitely a recommended read and although Bee Brooks is a new author to me, she is now on my reading list of books and series to follow.
I loved this friends to more story! It was fun and easy to read. And I got to try out a new author, and found out I enjoy her writing. A perfect book to read anytime of the year!
Childhood friends who have secretly loved each other finally get the nerve to tell each other. A storyline that’s been used many times but Bee Brooks puts a Cowboy theme to it to make a delightful read.
In this friends to more story, you find what really matters in life. It isn't the job or the location, it is who is beside you that truly counts! I definitely recommend this clean contemporary read!
This book is a great mix of cowboy life and City life being mixed. It reminds me of where the 2 meet in the middle. True love Will sacrifice for their beloved.
A sweet, clean romance between an actress and cowboy who have been best friends for years. Strong main characters, great dialogue and a cute story. This heartwarming story is full of humor and an easy read. First book in a series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a sweet, clean romance of best friends. I did enjoy this first of the series book. Kay and Eldon grew up together as her father was a cowboy that worked on the Sweet Springs Ranch that Eldon's grandparents owned. Kay left South Dakota for the bright lights of Hollywood leaving her BFF beyond. She comes back to the ranch to work through some items for her big role on the advice of the writers. She has to stay on the ranch with the Larsens as her father was now a mechanic and his small place had no room for her. That was fine with both Kay and Eldon. Each had feelings for the other but didn't want to mess up the BFF relationship if things went south.
I enjoyed reading this in the dual POV format. Getting into the characters' mind really helps me to connect to the characters and to fully understand the conversations and actions so much better.
This story was a charming one that dealt with the growing and changing relationship between them. There was just some light kissing and nothing else so the story would not offend anyone. If you love a sweet, clean romance of a cowboy and his best friend discovering deeper feelings for each other, then this is for you. I look forward to reading about the other two brothers and sister of Eldon's.
