About the author

Junot Díaz was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Drown; The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award; and This Is How You Lose Her, a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist. He is the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, PEN/Malamud Award, Dayton Literary Peace Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and PEN/O. Henry Award. A graduate of Rutgers College, Díaz is currently the fiction editor at Boston Review and the Rudge and Nancy Allen Professor of Writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is the cofounder of Voices of Our Nation Workshop.

شب بود و رادیوی اسطوره‌های جَز داشت همین‌طور برای تنوع آهنگ‌های روسی قدیمی پخش می‌کرد و جونو دیاز بود و توصیفش بود از سرمای آمریکا، برای یک خانواده‌ی سابقا اهل امریکای جنوبی که روز اول مهاجرتشان است به حاشیه‌ای در نیویورک، کنار آشغال‌دانی‌ها.
کتاب یکی از داستان‌های بقول مترجم قابل چاپ کتابِ «این‌طوری از دستش می‌دهی» است. برای راویِ خردسال، این کشور تازه پر از برف بود و طوفان بود و توالت فرنگی بود و بچه‌های همسایه با موهای بور بودند. نگاه می‌کنند دو برادر از پشت پنجره و پدر اجازه نمی‌دهد بروند بیرون بازی کنند و دختر همسایه هست و دستکش‌های هم‌مارک و دست تکان دادن‌ها‌. مادر تنها است، دور از خانواده و دوستانش، از کشورش، و پدر سر کار است و هی در خانه نیست و مادر گریه می‌کند از تنهایی، نمی‌تواند انگلیسی یاد بگیرد. بوی آشغال همواره می‌آید و بولدوزرهای دفن ضایعات از محله رد می‌شوند. دیگر امیدی به برگشتن به «خانه» نیست، این خانه‌ی سرد و بزرگ و بوگندو خانه‌ی جدید ما است، این‌جا امریکا است.

اولین داستان و کتابی که از جونو دیاز نویسنده آمریکایی دومینیکن تبار که به فارسی چاپ شده ، و در اصل یک داستان کوتاه از کتاب دوم این نویسنده به نام ( اینطوری از دستش می دهی ) و داستان( invierno) که مترجم آنرا به زمستان ترجمه کرده و به دلیل زیاد بودن صحنه ها و توصیفات جنسی از دوران بلوغ شخصیت ها ترجمه ی بقیه داستان های این کتاب را غیر ممکن دانسته است

مترجم مضمون اصلی داستان های دیاز را؛ مهاجرت_روابط جنسی _موضوعات خانوادگی _و تاریخ دومینیکن می داند

_کتاب داستان یک خانواده دومینیکنی ۴ نفره است که به آمریکا مهاجرت کرده اند ( احتمالا زندکی خود نویسنده ) و مشکلات تطبیق پذیری آنها با محیط و آداب و رسوم جدید

نمره واقعی: ۲ و نیم
داستان خوب و فوق العاده نبود ولی بد هم نبود
