Rate this book
Medea dreams that a handsome stranger will soon arrive to Colchis, her home. Her dream, however, lacks critical details. What does this stranger want and how far is he willing to go to achieve it? Is he peaceful or are his 50 companions as dangerous as they seem? As her father King Aeetes ponders these questions, Medea falls desperately in love with the handsome stranger, Jason, and aids him in his quest to capture the Golden Fleece. But is protecting Jason a betrayal of her family and her country? How far will Medea go to protect the people she loves? Where will love ultimately bring Medea?

Wonderful intermediate novella!! I appreciated Medea’a point of view and Rachel did an excellent job of demonstrating the tension within Medea. I look forward to reading it again soon. Plus it helps that this myth is one of my all-time favorites!

Definitely get this book for improving your reading speed and comprehension. Next year, I plan to add this into my Latin students’ self-selected reading choices.

A simple but engaging story, with lots of repetition of vocabulary, phrases, and structures to encourage the beginning Latin reader to read and understand the language. Excellent addition to the Free Voluntary Reading library.

This book was a deeper dive into Medea's perspective of the story about the golden fleece on Colchis. The doomed love story was a bit corny, but I felt that the other characters made up for it. The character development is pretty basic, but it's cool to see the characters actually interact. It uses to word palluit (grew pale) a little too much, but otherwise it's pretty descriptive. The vocabulary is mostly what you would otherwise know, but I did need to use the dictionary more than a few times. Overall, it's really interesting.
