The Best Man

Rate this book
I didn’t know her name, but I heard her laugh, tasted her lips, felt her warm skin as I held her in my arms. Together we watched our young children playing in the sand, the warm ocean lapping the shore behind them as the setting sun painted the sky. She was my soulmate and this was our life, our beautiful forever …

Then I woke up—alone in a hospital room, connected to wires and machines.

There was no wife. No kids. Not a single soul waiting for me. That life I dreamt of … never existed.

I’d been in a devastating wreck, a nurse told me when she rushed in. Comatose for weeks. I’d have a long road to recovery, but I was going to make it.

From that moment on, the dream haunted me. I saw that woman’s face every time I closed my eyes, searched for her in every crowd, ached to be with a stranger I felt I’d known my entire life … and I swore that if I ever found her, I’d do anything to make her mine.

Anything.

Then I found her.

And it was both the best and worst day of my life because the woman of my dreams … was about to marry my best friend.

I was looking forward to this book. With its awesome blurb, it had captivated my heart so much that I got the book as soon as it came out and started to read it without checking any reviews. I wish I had been more cautious about it.

Something that sounds too good to be true usually is!

Now, let me warn you about it so that you don't make the same mistake. This book is a complete mess with very frustrating characters.

*********************************************

Cainan and Brie meet at a bar, they flirt a bit but Brie says she doesn’t do one-night stands and leaves him there. Cainan says the next time they meet they won’t be strangers.

Two days later, he has a traffic accident and when he wakes up from the medically-induced coma after one month, his mind is confused. He thinks he is married with two children and he asks for them. His sister tells him that he never got married but in his mind, he sees what she looks like and many other details about her.

Up until here, it was really interesting but then it starts to get worse and worse.

*********************************************

The woman who saves him from his wrecked car after the accident and dialed 911 was in fact Brie. With all the blood on his face, she didn’t recognize him. However, she stayed with him until the ambulance came and also went to the hospital after the ambulance to see if he would be OK.

There in the hospital, she meets the “best friend” of Cainan and there is an attraction between them.

Brie never sees Cainan again as she leaves the hospital after a while. She starts dating Grant – Cainan’s best friend. She dates him for 6 months and then he proposes to her in front of their families and even though she thinks it is a bit early, she says yes.

And as we wait for the time when the hero and heroine of the novel will meet and fall in love, the writer wastes nearly half of the book with the romance between the heroine and the hero’s best friend! We learn how sweet and caring he is and also how generous he is in bed!

*********************************************

In a book with 210 pages, the heroine tells her fiancé that she doesn’t love him enough to get married on page 118!!!

Go figure the rest!

*********************************************

Now, the time to start to hate the fiancé:

We learn that Grant was a horrible man who was acting as the best boyfriend and she didn’t see it. She just felt something was missing.

In fact, Grant was both cheating on her constantly and lying to her the whole time. His real reason for wanting to get married to her was to be able to reach her father’s wealth and assets. And the hero is a lawyer and he prepares a pre-nup for his friend Grant and he writes it in a way that his friend can save both his cheating ass and all the money he put his hands on during that marriage when they break up.

The heroine saves herself from this scoundrel without knowing what a piece of ass he is! Just pure luck!

*********************************************

The hero, Cainan, meets Brie after 6 months when his best friend finally wants to introduce his fiancé to him and during that time, Brie had already decided to end her engagement.

Cainan is shocked to see that the woman he saw as his wife during the period of his coma is Brie! Because she told her about bits and pieces about her life to keep him awake until the ambulance came, he thought he knew her when he woke up. He is devastated when he saw that the woman in his dreams exists but she is his best friend’s fiancé.

*********************************************

Readers who look for safety in their romance would hate this book as Brie dates and sleeps with Grant for 6 months and Cainan sleeps with many other women after he woke up from his coma and saw that the woman in his dreams didn't exist.

*********************************************

Anyways, in the second part of the book, Brie leaves Grant and starts to live on her own.

Now you think the romance between the hero and the heroine will start????

Nooooo, it doesn’t. The writer doesn’t allow that!!!!

The hero thinks that he can’t have Brie because he feels loyalty to his friend and it outweighs his feelings for the heroine.

The ex-fiancé Grant calls Brie every day trying to change her mind. He even offers Cainan money to date her (without having sex with her) and thus not allow her to find anyone else. Thank God, he refuses.

All of it is frustrating.

*********************************************

Cainan knows that Grant was cheating on Brie and all he was after was her father’s money but still when Brie asks him how Grant is doing he says that she did a number on him by leaving him!!!!

Another piece of ass! I hated this hero.

*********************************************

So many pages are wasted while Brie wants to see Cainan and wants to know him better as she feels some connection to him but Cainan’s feeling of guilt doesn’t allow him to act on his feelings.

description

On the one hand, Cainan thinks Brie is the only woman he can love so deeply but on the other hand, he thinks he can't have her as she is the ex girlfriend/fiancé of his best friend! The best friend who actually didn’t care about Brie at all.

That was a stupid way of thinking. His reasoning didn't make sense to me.

*********************************************

So how do Brie and Cainan get together?

Well, you have to wait till the end of the book for that! If you have the patience, of course! Or you may break your kindle - so proceed with caution :)

Only after Cainan learns that Grant once slept with his girlfriend of 3 years, he ends his friendship with him thinking that he no longer deserves his loyalty. Only after that, he goes to Brie.

If he hadn’t learnt about Grant's disloyalty to him years ago, I am sure, he would have never acted on his feelings for Brie.

*********************************************

The so-called romance between Brie and Cainan starts towards the last pages and it sucks big time!

Awful, just awful.

Such a waste of a good plot it was! If it were written well, "coma dreams becoming true" would make an awesome romance!

*********************************************

The writer also puts in a very silly paranormal thing in all this mess: A message from the heroine’s dead sister! Huh, as if her saying “Cainan was made for her” would save the book!

*********************************************

After so many times of disappointment about this writer’s work, I am stopping to read from her ever again. Apart from her book "Absinthe", nothing I read from her later was good enough. Here is another writer wasting her talent!

“It’s as though my soul has been waiting for her to come along my entire life. Now here she is. What I wouldn’t give to make her mine …”

I was so pumped for this books release.....so impatient as I waited on the release date so I could download and devour it. So imagine my surprise and excitement level when I saw a new book sitting on my Kindle in the “Uncollected” section. Jumping up & down AND squealing occurred, I am not exaggerating and I’m not embarrassed about it—-I went total schoolgirl giddy over getting an ARC copy.

My last two reads from Winter were 5 star reads and both were fav list worthy. I love that Winter doesn’t stick herself into one single box, you never know what characters you will meet or where their story will take you.

“So I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.”

So The Best Man......from the blurb I KNEW this book was going to be bad for my heart. You know that pain that you can’t help but love, because you know whatever you are put through will be rewarded in the end? I’ve always been fascinated with dreams and I was at this books mercy from the moment it showed up on my device. It was time to give my heart a pep talk and dive on in......I can say with absolute confidence this was the BEST READ OF 2020 for me without question. I don’t do “sweet”, yet like the crafty little pixie she is Winter is able to pull me from the dark side every so often to give me a story like this.....one that will stick with me forever bc it’s one that’s not just surface level, but so much deeper with such simplicity in the “lessons” taught. I am obsessed with Winter, obsessed with Cainan & Brie, and obsessed with their love.

Overall Plot/Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot Pace/Speed: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cainan James: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Brie White: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
“Meant to Be” Scale: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Steamy Scale: 🔥

Book Facts:
Told in: Dual POV, mostly in present day.
About: In this forbidden romance/“fated” stand-alone, we are introduced to Cainan James & Brie White. Cainan wakes up in a hospital room convinced he’s lived a life that simply doesn’t exist. The wife, the beach house, the kids.....they were never his. He tries to move on & forget the woman & the life from his dreams, until the day he sees her. The one woman he knows everything about is as off-limits as they come.....because she is about to marry is best friend.
Safe Read? Yes, NO cheating or dark elements featured.
Ends in: HEA with extended epilogue.

My Thoughts:
It’s been a few days since I finished this book & it’s still with me, I cannot get over it or stop thinking about it. There are so many positives I couldn’t possibly list them all, so I will summarize the best I can. First & foremost, there is no cheating or any type of love triangle. Trust Winter’s process, she is able to bring these two together without hitting any of your triggers or your no-go “zones”. And if you have ever been interested in dreams & deeper meanings as well as how they play into destiny.....well this one is for you.
Hint: DO NOT SKIP THE AFTERWORD.

The most important thing about this story is how powerful the connection aspect is. You aren’t going to get a lot of “action” or steam in this one BUT you will come to realize it isn’t important. You always hear about soulmates, how fate brings together souls that were destined yet so few stories truly tell love stories in that way. It’s a rarity that a book can exist and be so beautiful while keeping your interest when it’s built entirely on the emotional connection long before anything physical happens. This one (along with her The Cruelest Stranger) are the kind of masterpieces that make you believe in a world where that kind of soul-shattering love & connection exists.
description
There is no way you can finish this book and not believe in that their love is extraordinary and special.

Its not all sunshine & rainbows though.....it has plenty of heartbreaking moments, where we are witnessing two of people you just know in your heart are completely meant to be on a level few people get to experience or understand, yet we are forced to watch them not be able to follow through.
description
It was both remarkably beautiful and crushingly tragic when you realize it might not be able to go as planned bc they are such good & loyal characters. There were moments I didn’t see how it was going to happen. But there were other times I didn’t care who they had to hurt or rip apart if it meant they could be together lol. Again, trust the process......

As for the characters....this kind of love story couldn’t have featured more perfect leads. I LOVED Cainan in the way I loved Talon Gold, yet he hits me on a deeper level emotionally because of his story. I have already claimed him as my book husband....just ask Winter....lol
description
I rooted for him so hard every moment of this book. And Brie, she was everything I wanted in a heroine for him. She doesn’t play games or mess with others emotions.

My Verdict:
description
You NEED to read this book. I don’t care what your preferred sub-genre is, this is too special to pass on. You will likely go in hesitantly, scared of what might unfold in the quest for HEA, but one that you will leave a little piece of yourself with. She pulled off her best work to date, and I cannot wait to see how she will ever top this one.

“And if there’s one thing I’ve learned thus far, it’s that love is messy, jagged, sticky, and at times, painful. But it’s always, always worth it.”

Do you believe in soulmate?? The Best Man takes inspired from The Alchemist. In Miss Renshaw hands, she turned it into romance story.

The story contains many plots and many drama. In some part, I got bored little bit waiting for the climax. The drama between Grant and Cainan is... well.... overly dramatic.

Aside from the overly drMatic bromance, I enjoy the story very much. The idea if soulmate that comes into dream is interesting.

Ugh! I can’t remember (at least at the moment) when I have been more disappointed by how a book turns out computed to the summery. The bio of this book reads like a dream, but it’s more like a nightmare. I find it particularly ironic that the author specifically states that there is “no cheating or love triangles”. Because she lied on both points. He basically cheats because he feels like he loves a woman and still goes out looking for and scoring a piece of a$$ over and over again. She was real. He had met and then later he fell for her when she told him all of these real details about herself while holding his hand on the worst day of his life. He just couldn’t remember the context. The second lie was that it is pretty much a love triangle (just not in the traditional way) being that she spends half of the book engaged his best friend and even when they broke up, the hero didn’t have the balls to go after her. They didn’t get together at lol until 90% ish. There goes his alpha status. Ok, I should probably hit pause on the rant and explain how fast this went downhill.
I saw this book and thought “ oh this plot sounds amazing, I bet this hero will make me swoon!” You know “ish” So here is my impression when starting to read this freaking book... “hmmm” The two characters meet and although he did come off as a little douchey I was willing to give it a shot because, you know, the of idea of the story was so amazing. Next is immediacy the waking after the accident. He wakes up from a month long coma and this is the guy that I swoon over. Until mere pages later it’s only been 6 months and he is out manwhoring. And while yes that generally pisses me off when it’s done AFTER the hero meets the heroine, in this case it doesn’t even make sense. He was recovering from a major accident that he has JUST came back to work from. He is still limping and in physical therapy 5 days a week! He is also mentally depressed from the mindfuc@ of waking up in love with, married to and having children with a woman other people think doesn’t exist. Yet the first thing he does (while weak and recovering) is start adding to the casual sex list he has? I don’t get the entire plot to this book at this point. All this did was alienate me and many many other women who don’t respect men who sleep around while in live with someone else. I doubt any women, even the weird ones that seem to like when characters screw a bunch of random women for no reason would have been been alienated if he hadn’t in this scenario. It just makes no sense. I can’t help but reiterate the point because he is a workaholic who wasn’t even well enough to come back to work yet. But he was out trolling bars and the hookup scene? I just don’t get it. Let alone, that the author wants us to believe he was really “in love” the few months in which he has added those numerous women to his body count. He even says he feels like he cheated, and while I agree, I’m not sure why the author even included it. It’s worse that way, because he should have either not have had the will to do it (you know because she had described him already as depressed etc) or have not been willing to do it again after the first time left him feeling that way. I’ve had similar reactions to this author before because she constantly gives us the manwhores that don’t know the meaning of loyalty and fidelity. Every time she screws over her reader I think to myself “nope, I’m done, not even picking up her next one”. She hooks me with the plot and then feed me garbage, and I don’t know why. She needs to grow the hell up and realize that readers don’t need a mans virility shoved down their throats. It’s actually sexier when a guy can actually keep it in his pants once he meets the heroine. I promise we will will still believe that he knows how to have sex, good lord! Because truthfully life experience has taught me that any guy that can’t keep it in his pants when he cares about or “like” someone, isn’t going to stop screwing around just because they are “official” “in love” or once rings are involved. If they want you, they don’t need rules to not screw other women. They usually just don’t need to screw other women (well in real life anyway, their fantasies are are probably something else even good men aren’t perfect). And that’s pretty much what I think of every time an author pulls the crap that she pulled. So moving to the other big issue with this book... After the bull crap of the whole manwhore revelation, yes I still skimmed it. Mostly because I had to see if she could fish this book out of the garbage. The answer was a huge resounding NO! He had no balls when he did realize that he could have the heroine. He not only wasn’t willing to fight for her, he was willing to let her go through life being taken advantage of and cheated on, just to not disturb a friendship. I understand loyalty but come one, he didn’t even have to be with her to try to warn her and save her from a life of misery with that piece of crap! He knew his friend was being shady and still told her that the friend was a mess since she broke his heart. He was already screwing someone else for Pete’s sake! What a winner right?!? To be fair, I could have possibly gotten over the friend, writing it off to misplayed loyalty to a childhood friend. But combining it with the first stuff, The whole book is a wash. Her fiancé was cheating their entire relationship, her hero was screwing other women while convinced she was a real person and he was in love with her. The poor girl deserved someone who was loyal to her! I am beyond done with this author this time... No, seriously, for real! If anyone sees me add a book by her to my “want to read” list feel free to send me a message saying “no you don’t, you really don’t” I’ll consider it a personal favor. This book was such a freaking letdown. Now I am just hoping that someone else has the idea behind this story, but actually creates it worth reading. You need to have an open mind when reading this book. A second chance love story filled with angst, it broadens the contrasting perspectives of fate and free will.

The Best Man is a fascinating story that completely captivated me from the very beginning. There are so many different elements that develop within the story line – suspense, mystery, forbidden, star-crossed, and friends-to-lovers. The development and flow of the story blends beautifully with the growth of the characters, both individually and together. But what pulled me in was the bewitching and compelling connection between Cainan and Brie…how one serendipitous encounter set forth fate’s plans for their HEA. But alas, it is not a pretty one. The battle between the head and the heart is an emotional roller coaster of love, loss, and sacrifice…challenging the strong bonds of friendship and loyalty with the yearning desire for love and devotion. The story makes you believe in a destiny that at most times is very hard to accept but is worth it in the end.

This slow burn romance takes two very emotionally vulnerable people and brings them together when they are needed for one another the most. Its meaningful and diverse story line paired with the author’s superb writing makes this a highly enjoyable and very memorable must-read. You won’t be able to put it down.

A serendipitous love story that will capture your heart. Cainan and Brie share a fated love story that brings a feeling of happiness and a hope in happily ever afters.

She was literally his dream girl. They met before, yet he doesn’t remember but he knows all about her.

Cainan was in a car accident. When he wakes from a coma, he asks for his wife. He’s never been married. His memories of her are so real, so vivid, but she doesn’t exist. Then he meets her on the arm of his best friend, Grant. Brie is Grant’s bride-to-be.

So Cainan finds the woman of his dreams and she’s completely off limits. Nothing is ever that simple. Grant seems like the Brie’s besotted fiance, but he’s got secrets. Brie is having second thoughts about their relationship. Cainan is stuvk somewhere in the middle between his best friend and the woman who he can’t forget.

I absolutely loved this story. Cainan was quiet and reserved, but pensive and sweet. He battled between his heart and his loyalty to his lifelong friend. Brie was a woman who knew her own mind and heart. She was not willing to settle and I admired her for it.

I read this story in one sitting because the characters drew me in and kept me wishing that they would figure things out. Their connection was truly otherworldly. You can’t fight fate. They were meant to be together. A beautiful story that makes you believe that there is life beyond what we understand and you need to look for the signs because they’re waiting for you to see them.

The Best Man is one of those magnificent reads that touch your heart in ways you never saw coming. I loved Cainan and Brie and the way they were drawn to one another despite the circumstances they found themselves in. Their love story by no means was an easy road for them but their connection could not be denied. This story made me swoon and get choked up in the best ways. I loved them so much!

When Cainan wakes up from a car accident, he asks for his wife but he's never been married. But Brie, the fiancee of his bestfriend is literally the woman of his dreams and the one he ironically can't forget. Gah!! This story was amazing. I lived this fated story so much! 4 stars! ~Ratula

When they first met Cainan was trying to seduce her into spending a night with him but Brie turned him down, no matter how panty-melting gorgeous he is.

"𝓝𝓮𝔁𝓽 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝔀𝓮 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽, 𝔀𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓷'𝓽 𝓫𝓮 𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓻𝓼."

Months have passed and Cainan got in an accident. While in a coma, he dreamed that he's married with kids, it's so vivid that he thought it's real and it's not. But the face of the woman is so unforgettable, that he looked everywhere just to find her. And when he found her she belongs to another man.

"𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓘 𝓫𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓭 𝓘 𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓸 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮 ... 𝓫𝓮𝓵𝓸𝓷𝓰𝓼 𝓽𝓸 𝓶𝔂 𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓯𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭. 𝓢𝓱𝓮 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓷𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓫𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓮."

What will he do now?

I immersed myself in this book and didn't want it to end. The story was unusual yet believable. The main characters are very likable. The villain is so good portraying the role that I want to punch him. Winter's books are always good, however, this one is unique and kept my interest going. The author's descriptions were captivating and made me feel a part of every scene. What a wonderful treat reading this book. I loved it and highly recommend it.

Es un libro corto fácil de leer con un bonito final.

Me gustó mucho él.

Wow! I read this one in ONE sitting. The chapters are seriously small, so I kept saying "just one more chapter" and then I was at the end.
I loved so much about this one. First, she's prudent, which is not a common thread among female leads. Most jump straight in without thinking pro's and cons. Also, she makes up her mind and STICKS to it! I applaud that. A lot of other female leads are fickle and have a hard time making up their mind, if ever they stop to consider choices that is.
I also appreciate that the author kept it real! Nothing overtly over the top or hugely exaggerated. I seriously liked this one.

This had really good build-up to when the main couple meets, I was totally flying through the pages up till then!

But it ended up playing out in a super lame way. And everything from then on was tedious and boring.

I wanted drama and angst and emotions! Based on the blurb, I thought for sure that's what I was gonna get.

Instead what I got was a bunch of boring conversations, repetitive monologues, and a couple with ZERO chemistry.

Also, I really hate cartoony style villains. Which this book had. So stupid. (I'm realizing this is the 2nd Winter Renshaw book I've read (Country Nights was the other one), and both books had over the top eyeroll worthy "bad guys". Lame. I think I can be done with trying out her books now.)

"The woman I believed I was destined to love ... belongs to my best friend. She can never be mine."

project_20200324_2342074

The Best Man is a beautiful story that stole a little piece of my heart with every page. I was so excited to read this book and I devoured it in one sitting. I was so immersed in this captivating book that time escaped me... or seemed to stop (I can't really decide). All I know is that I couldn't believe how fast I read this.

Cainan has been in an accident and when he wakes up sometime later-due to being in a coma-he calls for his wife, which he learns is non-existent. He had such vivid dreams that he believed was reality. it felt too real to him and it takes him a while to accept it. He goes back to how things were before the accident but it's not really the same. He isn't the same as much as he wishes he was because he is going crazy. That is until he comes across the woman from his dreams. She is real. And it's like a sucker punch to him. He knows things about her. Things he can't explain knowing and it's even crazier that he has feelings for his dream wife who is soon to become the real wife of his best friend.

Cainan and Brie's relationship was a beautiful slow burn that I absolutely adored. These two people that have an immediate connection that goes soul deep cannot be together for the sake of Cainan's best friend, Grant. Cainan and Grant are like brothers and he cannot betray his best friend like that-although his soul aches for Brie. Talking to her, spending time with her, even looking at her breaks him a little every time but he craves to be around her. Even for just a little while. He has his morals and being with her is a line he is not willing to cross... until certain events come to light.
Brie is drawn to a man that is not her fiance. The is something compelling about him but she makes nothing of it because she is a good person and she is engaged. She really did try with Grant but he was not the man for her. She hates hurting people but for her to be happy, she has to.
Brie always belonged with Cainan. Even if she didn't know it yet.

This book was surprise to me. A beautiful and wonderful surprise!

I was really enjoying this and then the author threw in the fake dating crap and she lost me. There were also passages that were so childish I could barely continue reading. What saved it was the premise of fate finding your soul mate.

5 Slow Burning Stars!!

WTH???? I have no idea what I was expecting from this book but this was not it. This book will absolutely grab you from the beginning and does not want to let go. It was so hard to put down when something needed to be done. This book is definitely one of my favorites in 2020.

I don’t like a wishy washy character and Brie is not at all that way. Cain was great from the get-go. There was something that I knew early on was going to come out but still the twists are great on this one even if I did know all along.

I really need to read more Winter Renshaw books since I am always surprised about how much I like them. Her storylines are always just a funky or weird twist different than the norm which makes them more interesting than most.

The Best Man by Winter Renshaw is pure kismet. A combination of suspense, angst, mystery, and romance, this addictive book has it all and kept me on my toes the entire time. Cainan James, a successful divorce attorney, is content with his life as a bachelor, working hard and enjoying the ladies when the opportunity strikes. Most don’t turn this smooth talker down when propositioned, but our strong, smart heroine, Brielle, did exactly that.

I admired Brie so much as she was independent, trusted her instincts, and knew her self worth. She was upfront and honest, didn’t play games, and was determined to live life on her own terms. This book will take you on a journey and keep you guessing who is the actual hero of the story. After their initial meeting, she witnesses a car accident, calls 911, and follows the injured party to the hospital where she meets her future financé, Grant.

I don’t want to give too much away, but just know this. Everything happens for a reason, and works out just as I hoped it would. I am a big romantic at heart, and obviously so is the author, because this book is all about the power of love, finding your soul-mate, and trusting your heart.

It’s not easy for Cainan and Brie to navigate their friendship, especially when Grant’s true colors are revealed. They keep being put into each other’s paths for a reason and are physically and emotionally drawn to one another. Cainan is a class act. He is reserved, loyal, intense, a great brother and friend, and has to make some very tough decisions. He’s a changed man and the future he dreams of now, is very different from the one he envisioned for himself before meeting Brie.

The author has truly outdone herself with a story that’s all about knowing in your heart what is real, and taking a chance on the right person. There is NO CHEATING OR LOVE TRIANGLE. I also really loved many of the secondary characters, especially her family and his sister whom he was very close. The only thing I am wondering is what happened with his parents?

The Best Man is a slow burn, forbidden romance filled with so many feels! It is a real roller coaster ride of emotions that I highly recommend.

So, I hated Grant.

The Best Man was an okay book. Not particularly my favorite but it also wasn't completely horrible at the same time? In it, you will meet Cainan and Brie. How they met kind of seemed like fate. Yet, thing also seemed to tear them apart at the same time? Yes, they met at a bar and he thought he was hot shit. Long story short, she denied him and went home all alone. Happy and alone. She was forever on his mind.

Then they sort of see each other again when he gets in a terrible accident. Unfortunately, they don't know that they already met each other.. and she actually ended up meeting his best friend Grant. That poor girl was in a relationship for way too long with that self-centered douchebag. So when they get reunited once again.. I knew that she was going to finally leave Grant.

THANK GOD SHE DID. I loved her and Cainan together but that's pretty much it. Not a lot happened and the one thing that annoyed me was how everyone in this damn world was on team Grant. Even after she broke up with him.. like seriously people LET IT GO.

In the end, they were cute and things eventually worked out for everyone.

Author tells this isn't a love triangle, but what was is then?
Main characters were having kisses and everything else in about 85-90% of the book. Till then, they were struggling, they liked each other but couldn't be together because heroine's bf was bbf of our hero...
Not safe
Main characters have other partners. But thank God we don't see any scenes...
I didn't like the story, it had potential but author didn't develop it good enough. Skipped a lot.

Ok here we go again. This book could have been so good had we got to see the two main characters spend more time together. There wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between the characters that showed their connection. The two main characters don’t even meet until 30% through the book. From there, they see each other in passing but don’t actually hang out or have a real meaningful conversation until 60% through the book. Combine that with the book ending at 95% and you’re left with 35% of the book being dedicated to the actual relationship. There was no character or relationship development and that was really unfortunate because the premise and set-up is the story was fantastic.

Cainan é o típico solteirão averso a relacionamentos e filhos.

This is a very stupid and very frustrating book and I DN fucking Effed this shitshow around the middle

I think Dilek's review here
will give you all the necessary details about this trainwreck.

I initially marked this book as 'not interested' and I should've listened to my own voice of reason but then I got an audiobook and decided to give it a try anyways.

What a stupid, stupid me.

But if you like books with an unlikeable hero and a stupid heroine, if you like love triangles, both characters who are supposed to be together sleeping with other people for the majority of the book, cheating and lying?

Then be my guest and give this one a go.

You'll find it all here.
And more!

But that I ain't what I like.

I did love the cover, though.
But hey, you know what they say about judging a book by one, right?

This was an OK read for me. From the blurb this book had A LOT of potential, but for me, it just fell a bit flat. For the majority of this book the couple are not together and it is because of this, you just don't FEEL them. I wanted to know more about Cainan, the little glimpses we got were just not enough to really connect with him as a character. I just wish the author spent more time with them, rather than all the drama that led up to them finally being together.

Winter Renshaw was so underated. She's write a lof of beautiful story. Focusing on the storyline development instead of steamy scene. I hope a lot of people read her books.
