I never expected faking a marriage to be easy… But I also never expected Kane to be so hard.
Every girl loves a bad boy, right? Well, not me. And Kane Dagger is the worst of the worst.
Forget about his cast-iron, chiseled body, or the way he towers over me. Don’t even mention that sexy smile or the full lips that come right along with it. Sure, he may be a total heartthrob - all while somehow managing to be superdad extraordinaire, but don’t let all that fool you… Kane Dagger is no good.
His ties to the underground world of crime in this city are cold hard proof of his dirty ways. He’s come to collect a serious debt, and the one connection I still have to my family is in jeopardy. I refuse to let him win. But little do I know, Kane is fighting a battle of his own.
A bit of desperation and a hair-brained scheme might be just the thing to save us both, and I’m willing to do just about anything. There’s just one thing I didn’t account for. My heart. My stupid, unruly heart.
Now I’m ready to give him everything, v-card be damned. And let me tell you… Kane Dagger is soooo good.
But what should I do now that I’m holding on to a secret even bigger than our phony marriage?
A mafia debt, a giant lie and a bad boy single dad ready to play for keeps. Kane is a full-length standalone romance with a fiery spark and a Happily Ever After that will melt your heart!

Didn’t live up to the ratings and wasted my time. The story was rushed and there wasn’t any emotional connection between the characters. Not to mention the ending was absolutely terrible. I felt as though the story wasn’t finished. I should have stopped reading way before the end because there wasn’t any depth to the characters at all. She didn’t ever talk to her best friend or Julia or any other family member at all! TOTALLY HORRIBLE!!!
Alexa Hart has written a 5-star book that I would recommend to anyone. Summer is going to Chicago to help her Uncle out with his bakery. On the bus, she meets Maddie. Maddie's father is not at the bus station when they get there so Summer stays with Maddie. She sees Maddie talking with a rough-looking man and she tells Maddie to run and Summer throws a cookie tin at the man. Summer finds out that the man is Kane and he is Maddie's father. Maddie goes to the bakery and is told that her uncle Rudy is still in the hospital so she goes upstairs to the apartment and is shocked to see the shape of it. It takes her a few hours to clean it. As she is getting ready for bed she hears a noise downstairs in the bakery. No one is to be in the bakery that late at night so she goes downstairs to find out what is going on. She sees Angelo and another man and they are talking about the money Angelo owes. When Angela puts up the bakery Summer steps in. Kane is upset that Summer has seen him so he leaves. The next morning Summer goes to what she believes is Maddie's home but it is a boxing gym. Kane is there with his lawyer because he has been served with papers, his ex-wife is suing for full custody of Maddie. When Kane sees Summer he yells at her, he wants to know what she is doing there and who gave her the address. She told him that she wanted to talk about the night before and that Maddie gave him the address. Summer tells Kane she has about 10,000 she can give him and as soon as she gets the bakery up and running again he could have all the profits until the monies owed was paid. Harry, Kane's lawyer tells them he has an idea. He tells them they need to be married. Kane says No Way and Summer says she is not selling her body for the bakery. Harry tells Kane that he needs stability and fast with the custody case coming up. They talk it over and come to an agreement and they are married that afternoon. Kane was not going to get to close to Summer, he did not want to put up with the same thing as he did with his ex-wife. Things are going fine for them until Kane finds out that Summer can become a target from his business. He uses the sister of his boss as an excuse to break things off with Summer since the custody case is closed. They just had sex and he told her that Trixie liked it that way. He gets up and tells her that he is going to go see Trixie and for her to be gone in the morning. He comes home and finds the puppy they got him for his birthday had gotten into the trash and he sees a pregnancy test that was positive and he realizes he wants her back. He has not been happy since she left and Maddie is mad at him for making Summer leave. Summer is at the bus station waiting to get on the bus to take her back home. She had gotten on the bus and waiting to leave when the puppy they had found came on the bus. The bus driver tells her that pets are not allowed on the bus and she will have to get off. When she steps back into the station she finds Kane. Will Summer get over her feelings for Kane and move on with her life? Will Kane get a second chance with Summer or will he lose her for good? This was a wonderful read.

I absolutely loved this book! When Summer arrives in Chicago to help her uncle Rudy with the family bakery while he recovers from surgery, she's sitting with Maddie, a young girl coming back home by herself. They spend the whole ride talking and when they arrive at the bus station, Summer waits with her until her father shows up. Thinking he is a thug when she first sees him, Summer throws a cookie tin at Kane and tells Maddie to run. It's then she finds out Kane is Maddie's dad and she's terribly embarrassed. And terribly attracted to Kane. The two meet again when Kane shows up at the family bakery to collect on debts that Rudy's step son has accumulated. Antonio plans to get the bakery from Rudy and sell it to Kane's boss in order to settle his debts. The next day, she goes to the address Maddie gave her to try to convince Kane to let her buy the bakery. It's there she ends up in a situation she never saw coming and that will change her life. Kane's ex wife is trying for custody of Maddie and his lawyer thinks a fake marriage with Summer will do the trick to let him keep Maddie. She reluctantly agree and at first things are tense between the two. As time goes by the two find themselves unable to ignore the attraction between them and Summer and Maddie are getting along perfectly. Just when Summer thinks everything will work out, Kane throws her a curve ball that sends her home to Wisconsin. He manages to catch her before she leaves when he realizes that not only was he being an idiot but that Summer is pregnant.

Summer bailed out on an adventure in London to help her Uncle Rudy at a bakery that her grandparents owned. On the bus, headed to Chicago, she befriends the sweetest little girl named Maddie and is able to cheer her up. When they arrive at their destination, she wasn’t prepared to meet the brute of a man, that is the father of Maddie, named Kane. Kane, single dad by day and mafia enforcer by night, doesn’t know how to handle the beautiful (but “prissy”) Summer that Maddie has befriended. Thinking that they’ll never meet again, he tells Maddie that she won’t be going to the bakery anytime soon. Little did he realize, he would be seeing Summer again. When he is thrown a custody suit from his drunken ex, his lawyer sets up a fake marriage with Summer. What started as fake starts to turn into something that seems more real than the two of them realize and when Kane is faced with admitting how he really feels or just letting Summer go - what is he gonna do?
I absolutely loved this story! Kane is the big bad guy, but really a good man (and father) that has been hurt and is determined to not let it happen again. Summer is brave, smart, and I loved her sass. Maddie as such an awesome little girl as well. I loved the natural dynamic, Summer and Maddie matched up perfectly with Kane. I would have loved to see an extended epilogue, that would’ve been the cherry on the pie

A feel-good Mafia Romance! Author Alexa Hart captured my heart with her wonderfully descriptive prose and with the characters of Maddie and Summer. Maddie is the nine-year-old, quick-witted passenger who invites, with her wide blue eyes, passenger Summer, the 22-year-old introverted college graduate, to sit with her on the bus. That bus ride, and Summer’s experience of working as a nanny to pay for incidentals during college, changed both of their lives forever. Kane, Maddie’s father, worked his way into my heart also, but it took a bit longer for that to happen. He just needed Maddie and Summer to show him that life could be lovely, warm, and inviting; and the truth that some women are worth the effort to do whatever is possible to make a relationship work. Both Kane and Summer make some hair-brained moves, but they stay true to their characters and keep the plotlines complex but pure. Despite the fact that it’s not very original in scope, KANE makes up for it with its feel-good heart! Any book that leaves me smiling at its conclusion is totally worth the time and cost of admission. I volunteered to read an early copy of KANE and I am so very glad I did! This voluntary and honest review is giving KANE a 4-STAR, GOOD READ rating despite the issues I had with the manuscript. I’m still smiling as I recommend: Get your copy of KANE today! Happy pages! 😉
Kane is the second book in the Mob Daddies series by Alexa Hart. For me I am of two minds about how I feel after reading this story. It has the elements of an interesting and fun story but for me it was not flushed out enough live up to what I was expecting. Kane is basically a bad boy Mob thug who has a daughter that he wants to keep. Summer is a twenty-two year old woman with a college degree who goes to Chicago to help her uncle run his bakery because he is in the hospital. Along the way there Summer meets Maddie. Maddie is nine years old and is Kane's daughter. They meet when they are on the bus and sit together. Kane's ex-wife is suing for full custody of Maddie so his lawyer devises a plan to have a fake marriage so that Kane can keep custody. Because money is owed to Kane he decides that Summer will be his fake bride. But one fake marriage later and he wins the custody case. So now what happens between them all is the question.
While this is a fast-paced short story it felt rushed and lacked the depth that would have made it a better story overall. For me this was an okay story but not one I would put on my "read again" list.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Another fabulous job by Alexa!! I LOVED LOVED this book !! Summer is going to Chicago to help her uncle out at the bakery while he recovers from back surgery. He’s the only family she has left and the bakery was her grandparents. While there she finds out that her uncles stepson owes a lot of money and the bakery is at risk. She won’t let that happen.
Kane is the bad boy enforcer that is threatening the bakery. But he’s shocked to see Summer there as she’s the one that had befriended his daughter on the bus ride to Chicago.
Both end up in a bad spot so they fake a marriage to get what they want or at least what they think they want. Can a fake marriage turn into a real one ? Will she ultimately give him her v-card making an annulment impossible ? Summer has a huge secret will she tell Kane or keep to herself ?
The only thing I didn’t like was not knowing more about her uncles stepson at the end...unless there’s gonna be another book.

I enjoy Mafia romance and am particularly fond of Alexa’s writing. “Kane” is a sweet as well as steamy romance. The strong story-line captured my imagination and kept me reading non-stop till the last page. Kane is a handsome bad boy, single father and an enforcer for the Mafia. Summer is a lovely shy woman who is on her way to Chicago to help her uncle in his bakery. She meets Kane’s daughter Maddie on the bus and they develop quite a rapport. Summer thinks Maddie’s father is very thoughtless and inconsiderate to allow his young daughter to travel on the bus unaccompanied by an adult. Kane is late to pick Maddie up and when Summer sees a strange man arguing with Maddie she panics and throws a tin of cookies at him and tells Maddie to run. The story progresses with intrigue, danger, suspense, mystery, passion and romance. If you’re looking for an excellent plot with complex characters, some humor, intense passion, a bit of danger and of course romance, “Kane” is for you. Wonderfully written bad boy romance which was a delight to read and review. The characters: Kane - a enforcer for his boss Danny Marino, Maddie - Kane's daughter and Summer were well rounded and likable. The romance and interactions were steamy with angst between Kane and Summer. Maddie was a added bonus in this story to bring the endearing moments as you turn the pages. Kane needs a women to pretend being married because his ex wife is suing for custody for Maddie, Summer needs to save the family bakery while her uncle Rudy recoups in the hospital because his son Angelo used the bakery as collateral for his gambling debts. Together they make a deal and they marry in name only and sign a contract but their attraction for each blossoms. Do they make their marriage a real deal? I volunteer to read and review this ARC via booksprout.
WOW who would have guessed a bus ride to visit and help out her Uncle Rudy would end up like this. Maddie looked like she needed a shoulder to cry on when Summer boarded the bus. Waiting for Maddies dad to come pick her up from the bus station, Summer notices a BIG tattooed man talking and arguing with Maddie. Summer does the only thing she can think of at the time and throws a metal cookie tin at the guy not knowing that he is Maddies dad, Kane. But when Maddies mom and grandparents sue for full custody of Maddie, things get a little weird. A fake marriage to an enforcer for the mob. This book is funny and a little ensightful into a single parent home. You will not be disappointed in reading this book.

This was a sweet romance that had plenty of steam as well
When Maddie an outgoing nine year old befriends shy 22 year old Summer on a bus to Chicago Summer can't believe that any father would allow a nine year old to travel by herself. As a young woman who has made her pocket money growing up baby sitting her and Maddie form a bond. When Kane Maddie's father is late arriving at the bus depot to pick her up then Maddie is arguing with a tattooed man then Summer protective instincts kick little does she know she has just attacked Maddie's father. Suddenly with a custody dispute for Maddie and Summer needing money to save her uncles bakery a fake marriage seems to be the answer but will this mafia enforcer actually fall for his fake bride.
Kane is a complex but excellent story featuring Summer, who travels by bus to Chicago to help out at her family’s bakery when her uncle is hospitalized, and Kane, a mafia enforcer and single father of Maddie who is in a custody battle with his ex-wife. Summer meets Kane through Maddie and also when he comes to collect on her uncle’s step son’s debts. She proposes a deal to pay off the debts and Kane’s attorney counters with a fake marriage to assist Kane in acquiring custody of his daughter. This is just the beginning of Kane’s and Summer’s story. I highly recommend this fantastic and well written book by Alexa Hart!

This story has everything one wants in a good read. Two people who are complete opposites - Kane and Summer. Kane is an enforcer/muscle for an organizer of debious financial loans. He is big. He is muscled. He is dangerous. He is a father to Maddie, who will melt your heart. Summer is quiet, shy, innocent. She is alone In life. Summer meets Maddie on a bus trip and they become friends and this is how she meets Kane, at the bus terminal. This story is a fantastic read. The characters will touch your heart. The story will leave you with a good feeling. I highly recommend it!

Wow! What a roller coaster ride! It was a quick read and really good value this book. Tons of drama and hot! Summer and Kane what a great couple! Her, nice and wholesome, him quiet, tough and rough but a big teddy bear inside. This fake marriage story really had me hooked, not really sure if it was the characters, the story or what but i certainly recommend this book. I will be looking for more books by Alexa Hart that's for sure. Her writing is easy to read, and fast paced, such a pleasure.
What can take down a big strong mob enforcer....and tin can of cookies.
Kane is a sizzling hot brut of a guy who does not want to do relationship, but not make how he fights it Summer found her way in.
The story has great strong characters who know how to handle themselves. Kane and Summer relationship is simmering underneath the surface just waiting to blow.
This is another great story from Alexa Hart

I'm not one to tell the story, the blurb gives an outline & doubtless other reviewers will fill in the gaps. I'll just mention a few observations...I loved the strength of the main characters, their fortitude, their focus, flawed like most of us but she had big heart whilst he tried to hide his except when it came to his daughter. He tried to fight the attraction whilst he had the greatest admiration for her inner strength & deep caring kindness. Can he man up enough to confess his true feelings & make her stay. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Wonderfully fantastic... The book was amazing... It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it... The characters and their personalities match them perfectly... The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing...

This is book 2 in this mafia series but it is a stand alone. Kane is all alpha bad boy that has a sweet heart. Summer is a shy young girl. Can they get through the secrets and a have a HEA?

Opposites come together, one to keep his daughter and the other to save her family’s bakery. By appearance and on paper they couldn’t be more different. Looks can be deceiving, chemistry burned between them.

If you are looking for a quick read, feel good book, THIS IS IT!! I enjoyed reading this book. Kane was a typical man and was stupid in some of his actions but again he is a man. Summer was a great role model for Maddie.
Amazing! The story line is well-developed, engaging, funny, emotionally deep, and well written. Likeable characters; their chemistry is off the charts! Definitely recommended!

I loved this book I loved the storyline where she came to help her Uncle in the bakery and when she did there was nothing but chaos. This book has drama, twists and turns, and hot, steamy, sizzling, chemistry.
Absolutely loved Kane’s story! Maddie and Summer were so sweet! They balanced out the alpha bad boy perfectly! I wish the ending had more fireworks, but it was still an awesome read! Recommended!
Not your normal mafia book, more soft than the regular. But, a very good romance. The book is not long but it has a really good storyline. Loved the characters and absolutely loved the little girl in it.
This was an awesome love story! Kane and Summer were such great characters. It had a HEA and left you begging for more! Alexa Hart at her finest! This book is a must read and I highly recommend!
