When it’s life and death, you dig deep to keep yourself and others alive… or you die trying.
Fans of Vampire Academy and Legacies will want to sink their teeth into Alpha Wolf Academy!
SYNOPSIS (of 5 Book Series): Poor girl gets a scholarship to an elite academy where she meets her soulmate and discovers that she is more than just another shiver. There is the required BFF and Queen Bitch as well as a full scale attack on the academy, shooting, kidnapping, torture and fight scenes with, ultimately, a HEA. The story arc covers the FC finding out who and what she is, how she copes with that discovery and the people trying to bring her down. There is a strong sub-plot around female wolves fighting for equality and against the predominantly patriarchal hierarchy.
First, a gripe. Book 1 was free and it was a decently well written story so I then bought Book 2. The price of over £4 for a book (apparently reduced from £11 - really?) that is just over 200 pages is ridiculous but I bit the bullet and bought it. I, unfortunately, then allowed myself to get sucked in to buying the remaining books to see the story arc through. I should not have wasted my money. My gripe is, (and I appreciate that I, of my own free will, bought the remaining books) that the author then did what I hate which is decide to milk her readers and drag the story out over a further 3 (short) books when the story would have been better served to be over 3 at most. Each book had less content with Book 4 barely being worth reading considering what it added (or didn’t add) to the story. I was skimming by the time I reached Book 5 only to have the climax end up as one of those ones where the author disappears up their own a@$e and decides to introduce allegory as oppose to actual clear description into the final fight scene. The result is that you don’t really understand what is happening and the flow is severely interrupted. There’s no real satisfaction of the bad guys getting their just desserts and questions are left unanswered. The whole climax was a waste of time. If I could go back I would not buy any of these books.
The editing through this series is not good with annoying editing issues where incorrect words used. This is jarring and ruins the flow of any story. How hard is it for authors to publish properly edited books?
I found it ironic that the FC is this story wants to be a writer and there are parts of the story where the FC is being given advice on the novel she is writing. It is ironic because this author could do with taking her own advice. There are so many gaps in the story arc that it becomes more than annoying. Examples: - When Book 2 starts you are told that months have passed since the events ending Book 1 yet there is no close out of what happened after the attack on the school and the rescue. What happened to Xavier? How did the rescuers arrive at the school? What did the FC do over the intervening months and at Christmas etc? How did Danielle react? - In Book 2 the FC & MC are at a party and we are told there’s a scream with people running away. Then suddenly the FC is back in her room. No explanation as to what the scream was about or what happened. - In Book 3 we are again told that months have passed since the events ending Book 2 but no open questions are answered. What happened with Ben, Jared etc? Did the FC’s relationship with Daniela change? Why wasn’t Viktor captured, how did he get away? How did they find the FC? - In Book 4 there is, yet again, a gap between the events of Book 3 and the start of Book 4 and more open questions. We don’t really get a clear picture of what the FC did to escape, just some allusions to dead bodies, no clarity on what happened to Xavier until a brief mentioned some way into Book 4 and no clarity on how the FC was rescued. - Why, at no point, did the FC ask who Ariana and Ryder were and how they just suddenly popped up at the academy?
The gaps become more annoying towards the end of Book 5. How can an author draw a story out over so many books with such drivel padding it out and then leave so many open questions when the series is “finished”? What happened to the whole story line about the attacks on the Sisterhood? How does the FC move forwards with her powers? What happened to Adriana? What the hell was the fight with the guy with the crowbar all about? What about the MC’s family and his grandfather - was the FC ever actually introduced to is family?
I’d like to give a specific should out to Book 4 which was just a complete waste of space and simply full of the FC and her angst. By this point I found the FC annoying and weak. Despite the author trying to show her as kick ass I found her the opposite. No real strength of character or fighting spirit and completely self absorbed. Everything was about her.
There are Irritating inconsistencies with timelines such as reference to the FC only becoming soul mates after knowing MC for 6 months then a reference to FC being with MC for almost 6 months yet she’s been at the school for almost a year at that point; reference to it being a year since the attack then to FC knowing Rory for almost a year when she met her prior to the attack. Months passing between the end and beginning of each book with no real clarity as to what has gone on during that period.
As mentioned, this author is a believer on padding out a story and there are constant recappings of prior story ie how Daniela was a bitch. Seriously, how many times can an author write the same thing. Whilst it is vaguely acceptable to do a recap at the beginning of a book as to the previous book to keep recapping sections throughout a book is just annoying and repetitive.
One of the comments that the FC receives on her writing is around fleshing out characters. This author really needs to take that advice. Whilst there is a degree of depth to the supporting characters (although you never get any real back story on their families or lives prior to meeting the FC) I felt that the MC was very superficial. Interactions with the MC seemed to consist of either sex or descriptions of their mental mate bond. You get very little in terms of real interactions between the FC and the MC. In fact most of the interactions are between the female characters which I found very strange. When exactly did the MC & FC spend time together that was not having sex? Whilst there are vague references to the MC’s grandfather you don’t actually meet him or the MC’s parents so you get no real backstory or development of the MC’s character. He comes across as relatively weak in reality with the FC doing all the fighting. There’s no alpha male here.
While the overarching plot was advanced in this book, I felt that there was more time spent on world and character building. Particularly around the LaFlamme family and Elena’s relationship with her ex, Connor. I’m not mad at it either. The author managed to keep me engaged while fleshing out more of the histories of the famous LaFlamme family and the origins of the sisterhood as well as explain Elena’s heartbreak over her first love, Connor. Although, knowing that Bash is her mate, I don’t know what she was thinking, keeping Connor as one of her bodyguards. I’m sure if she explained things to Headmistress Donohue and Katherine LaFlamme, arrangements could have been made to replace him with someone equally as good. But then we wouldn’t have all this angst now would we?
The book begins a few months after the events of New Moon. Elena isn’t doing as well as she’s leading people to believe. But the upcoming winter break ski trip to Idaho is something she’s looking forward to. It’s there that she meets the Canadian Alpha, Sylvie LaFlamme, and find out more about the origins of the sisterhood and a few other juicy bits about wolf shifter lore. Of course her psychotic uncle rears his nasty head and Elena is headed back to the academy. There is a plane crash and some other interesting plot twists that occur that all made for an interesting and satisfying read.
Really, my only criticism is that at times Elena seemed to get too far into her head. It can also get tiresome when a FMC gets melodramatic every time something happens and assumes it’s all due to her. If she didn’t need to go back to the academy, so and so wouldn’t have been on the plane, and if she wasn’t on that plane, there wouldn’t have been a bomb and on and on and on. I mean, it wasn’t enough to make me not finish the book nor deduct any stars from my rating, but I did find myself thinking that I wish she would just stop. Two other things; (1) the first book seem to indicate that this was a RH series, and I have not seen any evidence of that. At best, at this point there may be a love triangle. Whether that gets resolved or turns into a ménage story we have yet to see. (2) the book does end on a cliffhanger.
Anyway, I’m still fully engaged and looking forward to the next book in the series.

After the attack on Alpha Wolf Academy, Elena Jensen feels more isolated than ever before, unable to trust either her family or The Sisterhood. When some of the students are sent to a shifter exclusive ski resort for a winter break, Elena begins to relax. But on the return trip, the plane goes out of control, crashes, and Elena and 10 students, a wounded teacher, and Connor are stranded in the middle of the wilderness -- and the pilot is dead. Here is where the breakneck pace of the action begins again, as Elena must become their leader to get them all through this disaster alive!
Grab this very exciting book that focuses once again on survival and finding answers. The story line shifts into a fast pace to really let the reader feel the emotions of the characters as they must turn to Elena to save them and hold them all together against a common enemy!
WE have adventurer, suspense and bullying. Elena and hr school mates are at a ski resort. What could go wrong. Bash is her soulmate, Conner is her guard. Danielle is Bashes twin who hates her. She is called back to the academy, but what happens next is unforeseen. Can she make it? Can the others make it? What will happen with Conner? What will Danielle do? What will she do with Viktor after her again? Now a cliffhanger, really?

I found this story a little slow to begin with but after sticking with it I became engrossed and enamoured with the characters. The story takes a dramatic turn about halfway through the book and blows you away, leaving you pining for more. I can't wait for the next book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is about a woman that did not know her true life as it was. Ellie was send to AWA to hide from her Uncle. Now would be the time to get the book. I will be getting more from this author.

I hope Conner is alright but I also hope Bash doesn't do something reckless like dump Elena. Oh moon and stars this is heating up quickly!

This second book is just awesome! Once more we follow Elena as she faces down danger This time in the wilderness! Full of action and suspense, romance and tons of emotions as friends and enemies work along side each other to survive! Exciting with some twists and surprises, this is a great read!
An amazing sequel that keeps the pace going after all the action and reveals on the previous book. Between dealing with love, both old and new, along with all the trauma from events of the New Moon we follow Elena through her ski trip with fellow students and a few surprise guests. It was nice to change pace from where the story was and to get to see how the characters reacted to their trauma, and how through the author was to show the effects in others that popped up in the background rather than focusing just on the main crew. I loved the action portion, I also enjoyed the Grey’s Anatomy mentions, and how the situation developed. The ending leaves you kinda wanting to scream in frustration at where the cliffhanger leaves you.

Wolf moon is book two in JJ King’s Alpha Wolf Academy series. This book continues on from New Moon, so it’s highly recommended you read that first.
A fancy ski resort, a ghost from her past, a deadly flight, and a whole shitload of trouble. Elena Jensen’s world, as she knew it, no longer exists. In the aftermath of the attack on Alpha Wolf Academy, she feels more alone than she ever has. She can’t trust her family or The Sisterhood, and Connor, the wolf chosen as her personal guard, brings up a painful part of her past, one she’d prefer to forget. When she and half the students of AWA are shipped to a shifter exclusive ski resort for winter break, Elena starts to think things aren’t so bad. She has a boyfriend that makes her rethink the existence of soul mates, a friend who makes her feel safe, and a new influential mentor. Elena’s tentative foundation is destroyed when disaster strikes on the return flight, leaving Elena stranded in the middle of the wilderness with ten other students, a dead pilot, a wounded teacher, and Connor. When it’s life and death, you dig deep to keep yourself and others alive… or you die trying.
After the attack on AWA and Elena’s world is turned upside down, we follow Elena as she struggles with the secrets and lies that were revealed, as well as the nightmares that plague her and the constant reminder of the heartache from Connor. Elena and Bash’s relationship continues to grow and she excepts that he is her soul mate. But just when life is starting to turn up right, Elena’s life is in jeopardy again from her psychotic uncle Viktor.
A fantastic sequel to New Moon, I loved watching the growing relationships between the characters grow. The stress and struggles that Elena is experiencing is so believable that I felt like I was experiencing them myself. I was hooked and read this in a few hours. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens next.
Elena is trying to hold it together since the attack on her school by her Uncle. She keeps blaming herself for the situation, even though she knows she shouldn't. Her family has lied to her whole life, never telling her the truth. Her family and friends from home had to go into hiding because of her. She keeps Bash at a distance as well. She doesn't know if everything between them is real or a product of what happened. She goes to the ski resort with the rest of the school, she is blown away by everything there. She is not use to the luxury surroundings. Elena will have a meeting that will open her eyes to a lot of her history and others. She and Bash will become what she thought was a was impossible for her. When Elena's life is in danger, they send her back to the school. But that is when the true danger starts for her and her surprise guests on the flight home. Elena will have to step into the role of leader in order for them to survive. She will have to also face her past with Connor as well.
This was a really good book, you are on a rollercoaster of emotions as the character has to come to term with a lot that is thrown her way. Her relationship with Bash, dealing with Connor and the everything dealing with her Uncle, Sisterhood and whatever else that is thrown at her. I can't wait to read book 3 to see what else is going to happen. I recommend this book/ Series.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

In Wolf Moon (Alpha Wolf Academy Book 2), Elena continues to struggle with all the revelations about who she is. She needs to get herself together more than ever. She knows that Bash is the one and has to come to grips with what that means. Meanwhile, Viktor, her bat shit crazy uncle, continues to hunt her and not for a family reunion. This installment of the Alpha Wolf Academy does not disappoint. It has action, suspense, thrills, and a few chills as well. Elena and Bash's relationship continues to deepen, which means that she and Daniella have got to figure out how just to get along, or not, for Bash's sake.
Another tragedy does force the two young women to form an alliance that could mean life or death. There are a few more twists in this book. Elena also has to figure out what's up with her and all these pent up emotions regarding Connor. He was her first love who abandoned her without a word. With the weight of the world literally on her shoulders, Elena has to find her inner alpha to save lives. Can she do it, or does she continue to succumb to her fears and anxieties? This book ends with a heartwrenching revelation and cliffhanger, which only means that I have got to grab Book 3, Blood Moon, as soon as possible!

The plane is crashed by some of her other classmates from the Academy. While in the air, the plane has a failure of some sort and it crashes. They lose many people….and Elena tells everyone the truth about her past. Now, they blame her…and a new power comes out of her that will change everything as they know it! They are on the run for their lives...what will happen? Who else will they lose? Will they escape? Will people from the Academy get to them before the others? I received this via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.
Another thriller from J.J. King! I really liked the pace of this book, it started out more relaxed then ramped up to action. I was craving a little relaxation myself for these characters after the trauma of the first book and I was not disappointed. I was especially happy with the developments for Elena, I was waiting for "it" to happen! Don't want to say more so I don't spoil anything. The second half of the book is where you know what hits the fan, and maybe it's the evil in me, but I found the whole scenario very interesting and kind of...dare I say fun? Not that it was a fun situation for the characters of course, but it was such a great concept I really loved it. I have to say though that I'm sad a bit with a certain circumstance at the end, I wish it wasn't the way it was BUT I will have to wait and see how things pan out in book 3! I've really enjoyed this series and can't wait to see where it goes next.

Her crazy uncle is coming for her and doesn’t care who he hurts in the process. Months after her psychotic uncle Viktor attacked the academy and tried killing her, Elena has still not come to terms with the changes in her life and her new reality. But the plane is attacked and they crash. The pilot and one of her guards and a student die. Now they have to flee instead of waiting for help because what if it’s Viktor who finds them. While trying to stay alive, Elena’s alpha abilities come into play helping save the students, but Bash, her mate and one true love is not there, and she has to deal with his twin sister Danielle, and Connor her former love and the one who broke her heart. Can they evade Viktor and get to safety or will they all be killed? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
As we follow Elena & Bash, we get new insights in their closeness but we also get answers to some of the burning questions.
Slowly healing from the trauma and learning they better as a team then alone made me feel happy and smile brightly.
Their journey is not an easy one but i did love it so so much. The whole book had me either close to tears or laughing uncontrolable. Also love love how Sylvie decided to take Elena under her wing and offer help that made my feeings happy.
Along the way and through hardhip i feel for Elena but she shows shes strong and doesnt give up a real fighter.
Only thing i did not like was that we never really got a clear answer as to how and why or what about Xavier, all we know he is alive from a mention but thats it, i had hoped some more info or interaction as we never heard how or if he got saved! I was a little disapointed by that!.
I was so in the book that it ended without me realising it its that good. Already have book 3 ready to show me what is going to happen next.
Elena discovered who she really was in the wake of the attack at Alpha Wolf Academy in the first book, and in this book she discovers what's she's really made of as she's thrust once more into danger. It starts off slow with Elena and some of her classmates taking a trip to a fancy ski resort where they all are dealing with the results of the attack in their own way. For some it brings them closer, while in others it stirs up old resentments. But when their return flight crashes in the wilderness, it forces friends and enemies alike to work together if they are going to get out of this situation alive. While the first half of the story is full of emotion and romance, the second half is packed with action and suspense. Elena is forced to face her demons and really dig deep to discover just who she wants to be going forward. Some surprises and twists keep the story interesting and have me anxiously awaiting the next story in this series.
In New Moon (Alpha Wolf Academy book 1) you meet Elena, she had her whole life planned out and going to Alpha Wolf Academy was definitely not in those plans. After the Academy comes under siege resulting in the death of her fellow classmates the real reason Elena was sent there comes to light and her entire world is turned upside down. As half the students head to a shifter exclusive ski resort can things finally start to get back to normal for Elena or will her nightmares continue to plague her and will her life spiral even further out of control.
Elena is definitely a little broken in this book, but Bash and her friends have her back no matter what. It's interesting to read the turmoil that poor Elena goes through in this book, from panic attacks from what happened in the school to the newfound information she is learning about herself. This was a brilliant sequel to the first book and I'm thoroughly looking forward to the next book.
This book starts with fun and excitement. Elena, Rory, Bash and Darius are ready to put the past to rest and enjoy the skiing trip the students are taking. Elena is still trying to get her emotions under control when it comes to her ex, Connor, now her bodyguard. She hasn't told Bash about their history and the longer she waits the more awkward it will become. She has panic attacks and with Connor everywhere she is not much alone time with Bash. She becomes more aggravated at what her life has become, all the danger and others getting hurt because of her psychopathic uncle, Viktor. This book begins touching on the previous events and the action, suspense and danger barrel on and keeps coming faster and harder until the end. I hope that Bash and Elena can get everything out in the open and work things out together. I can't wait to see what happens next! I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
This almost didn't hold my attention enough to get thru (especially the first 1/2). I struggled in a few places & had to put the book down & do something else for a bit. The story flowed really slow, and seemed like nothing was really happening until the 1/2 way point. Elena is kind of a love or hate character, that I can't make up my mind from one moment to the next if I like her or hate her. Bash was just ok (like he was in book 1), he seems too convenient for the story, & I'm not sold on him for Elena. Those characters that come across too perfect -usually don't work out in books. The thing with Conner at the end was just out of left field unexpected. Not sure how that will turn out for Elena at this point. I'm on the fence right now (again, like I was with book 1) if I will continue with the series, as I'm just not really excited about the characters or what happens at this point.
Wolf Moon is the second installment in J.J. King’s Alpha Wolf Academy series and it is just as fantastic as the first. Elena struggles with everything she has learned about her history and the attack on the academy and while life goes on, she is in constant fear, always looking over her shoulder waiting for her psychotic uncle to strike. Also between her new bond with Bash and her past with Connor she has a lot to sort out. I really enjoyed the pace of the story and the development of the characters. I loved seeing the growing bond between Elena and Bash and even Rory and Darius are sweet. There is plenty to enjoy in this read and I look forward to the next in the series.
*I received an arc from Booksprout and I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Elena is still dealing with the trauma of her Uncle's attack on the Academy her new status and the ever looming threat from her Uncle. The one bright spot should be her mate Bash but she doesn't trust there relationship shes afraid the circumstance surrounding the attack are why there together and her new Guard is a former love Connor he brock her heart has she felt with those feelings or will a new threat draw them together and what about Bash will they be together when it's over or will he walk away. With a ski trip a fateful plane crash a race to survive and Elana finally embracing her Alpha power things wont be the same and more people will die.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
The Action just keeps coming! This is part Vampire Diaries and part Bitten rolled neatly into one, and you have to learn fast just which ones are your friends are, and which ones aren't; after all, you want to keep your friends close but your enemies closer.
But even enemies learn they have to depend on each other for survival sometimes, especially if they want to find the common thread and figure out who has it in for ALL of them.
Will friends become enemies? Can enemies become friends? JJ King does a superb job of bringing this Supernatural world to life, with just the right amount of action, adventure, and romance.
My only complaint is book three is not out yet!!

Trying to protect her, the administration decides to send her back to Wolf Academy with her security team. Unfortunately a few privileged students decide they want to returns too. The plane crashes and the pampered pooches/wolves are forced to survive in the wilderness. Uncle Viktor and his team of assassin are in pursuit.
A great continue on from New Moon, I was so happy to be able to read this second installment in the series. I love the character development so much in this book. The characters as a whole growing, but also the relationships and connections between characters. Elena is super relatable with the stress that comes with what is her life. She is definitely my favourite character. The book was very fast paced, never a dull moment and it was a book that certainly leaves you hooked and wanting more. I cannot wait for the next in the series.
I ♥️♥️♥️ this series poor Elena went through hell she doesn’t know who she could trust but then things start to look up when Elena, Bash and other students from the academy are sent on a ski trip but the plane crashes. Sorry guys I’m not going to get too much into this story because too many spoilers will ruin this story but I loved the characters and the storyline and this series is getting better and better as it goes along and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. Fantastic story/ series and I definitely recommend this book.
