DUTCH
The enemy always goes down. I never let anything stop me or get in my way. I shoot to kill and my aim is true. But when they have her, glock locked and loaded right at her temple, I take my shot, killing them, and destroying her high-risk mission.

MALIN
He destroyed it all. My mission. My vendetta. And most importantly my heart. I can’t go back to what we were, what we’ll never be again. Even though I know he’s my only chance, my only hope of salvaging this mission. But going DUTCH again could shatter my heart.

While each book in the K19 Security Solutions series is a standalone with its own HEA, they may be more enjoyable read in order.

Another book where she pines for this loser who left her and slept with his best friends ex. She forgave him way too easily and really had no self respect to crave this non hero who slept with the ow countless times but just because he says sorry she forgives him. Sick of books where the h just forgives an unforgivable act like leaving her for ow!

This book was a joke. And I'm pissed that I have read such a low rating book so early in the year. I was hoping to get a few more 4 or 5 star reads before stumbling across a lemon.

I couldn't stand Alegria (the other woman) and her bullshit. Even that lame attempt at putting her in her place by the hero wasn't going to make me change my mind. About her or the hero (whose name I have now forgotten). But seriously, no woman in their right mind would ever take back that loser of a hero. Malin (the heroine) is an idiot for thinking she's not second best. He left her to be with Alegria, and some half-arsed apology was all she needed to take him back (insert eye roll). She's a CIA agent and she puts up with that shit? Seriously?? Lol

Not my idea of a believable romance. This author is obviously not for me.

It's funny how, when true love comes along, everything pales in comparison. Dutch thought he was in love with his best friend, until he realized she was in love with their mutual best friend and Dutch stepped aside. But when Malin breezes into his life, Dutch realizes what he thought was love for another was nothing compared to his feelings for Malin.

If you’ve been keeping up with the K19 guys, you know that each book stands alone, but along with a romance, there’s an exciting, intriguing story of suspense that also resolves each time. This one is full of fascinating complexities involving corrupt government, foreign government interference, secret societies, deep state, and “accidents" to eliminate threats. Once again, I’m in awe of this author's skill and talent in researching background and combining the details in a riveting storyline. Don’t miss this latest adventure with the heroes and heroines of K19 as Dutch and Malin find their happily ever after.

I'll be honest and say I only read this book in the series and I'm not too convinced Dutch really loves Malin. I was going back and forth if I should read book 4 with the love triangle between Mantis, Alegria, and Dutch. I'm glad I didn't because of the reviews for that book, and how Alegria acted in this book I would have disliked her even more. And may have been even more less convinced of Dutch's love for Malin. Let's be honest she felt second best and probably always will be. Though I did like that Dutch didn't want them around when he married Malin. Alegria was a bitch even here. And you could tell she had a big ego because she had two men lusting after her. it felt shitty knowing she f***** and had both men panting after her. No thanks. Other than that the author did a good job on the military/CIA plot. Though I didn't agree with her politically in some things it wasn't enough for me to stop reading. But it may bore other's because it's heavily based on their mission instead of a romance read.

DNF 15%

I haven't read any other books in this series and I think that effected by ability to get into this story. I felt no connection between Dutch and Milan. We're given the smallest glimpse of them in the past, but even there I didn't feel like there was something big between them. Certainly not something that would have stayed with them.

The other issue I had is even in just the first 15% there's SO much going on in the book. Between the mission getting blown up, glimpses of the past and several different/new side characters I easily became lost.

The story itself wasn't well formatted as we jump from area to area with little transition or notice to the reader. I had to stop and go back a few times to figure out how they got from A to B since there was only a paragraph break (with a symbol) between the two steps.

I think this book probably would be easier to follow had I read the other books in the series.

Ok, let’s just say it. Dutch is a jerk! I’ve read sporadically across this series and although this does stand alone, you’ll get the complete backstory in Mantis (the previous book).

Fast paced, exciting adventure. Malin has a job and she’s in danger and Dutch saves her life while wrecking her case. He wants another chance. Personally I would have slapped him down for being stupid but he did have other qualities.

The K19 series are interconnected thrillers. There is always more to the story and that was true of this book as well. Well written and adventurous, in the end only Malin and Dutch, working together, can find the answers. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

Dutch is book 5 in the K19 Security Solutions series by Heather Slade and is a standalone but you see friends from the other books.

Dutch and Malin were once a couple until Dutch leaves her and breaks her heart. Dutch shows up in the middle of her ops and kills the assassin who has the answers she is looking for...

Can Dutch keep her safe, figure out who wants her dead and exposing the leak...suspense, action, twists, turns, maybe a way to repair the heartache he caused Malin and build a HEA???

Thrilling suspense and romance!

Dutch has his work cut out for him when he realizes he can't live without Malin - the girl he threw over when he thought he was in love with another. Malin can't deny her feelings for Dutch, but she can protect her heart by not letting him have another chance to destroy her. The romance in this book is intense; while we know Dutch's story and therefore we know his heart belongs to Malin, we also know the heartache she suffered and don't blame her a bit for being so caustic to him.

This is a standalone romance; however, the full story of his relationship with Mantis and Alegria is explained in the previous book, along with the spycraft events that ended where this story picks up. This series is best read in order to get the full picture, but not entirely necessary.

We last saw Dutch saving Malin's life but in the process blowing the lid off her current mission. All he wants to do now is protect her, but she's got to finish her mission or she'll never be safe. All the cloak and dagger stuff really drives home their emotions, even as it prevents them from planning for a future they don't yet know they'll have.

This book neatly solves all the problems by the time we get to the hard-won HEA, with nail-biting action and heartbreaking confessions along the way. Forgiveness is a powerful weapon, one that proves to be all they need to muster the resources necessary for victory. It's a wonderful story, one of my favorites from this outstanding series. I highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Once you’re a second choice you will always be a second choice!

Dutch left Malin for Alegria and had sex with both women on that same night 🤬 because he was so in love with Alegria that Malin didn’t matter! Algeria’s jealousy was too much - Mantis needs to shake that woman off and move on to someone worthy instead of just accepting her behavior. Why the hell did he not call her out himself? Im still not sold on Dutch or Alegria getting any sort of happy ending with Mantis or Malin, honestly they are both in my “not redeemable” bucket.

The story could have been from today’s headlines and I liked the story but can’t get past the Algeria, Mantis and Dutch situation.

Dutch and Malin were together until he ended her relationship to pursue another relationship with the woman he thought he loved. Time and distance has shown him that was a mistake and he wants a second chance.

Malin is not about to let Dutch close enough to break her heart a second time. His interference in her mission has placed them both in danger and they must work together if they are going to escape with their lives.

This is a second chance at love story that takes you on an adventure filled with suspense, intrigue and heat.

3.5

This was 3.5 stars for me but Im rounding up. I enjoyed this book and fekt like Dutch groveled a lot. He messed up big but he definitely put in the work to win Malin back. I hated Alegria. She was awful and selfish and I didn't like her in her own book. I loved the scene where Dutch put her in her place for being rude and disrespectful to Malin.

Gonna be honest here i don't know what to make about this one, i think i've read one book before in this serious it was back then a what i call ok in a bit ok way, never mind me maybe there was too many CIA stuff that i got bored, there was a bit of too much spy things for me but well that's on me beacuse dah the book is about those stuff i would like to say that the auther maybe could have i don't know made it more interesting but then i should have choose an other book.
look i know that the M lead was aware of his mistake and honestly regreted the things that he did but when i puted my self in the F lead place i just had a hard time imagining my slef going back to him, apparently he was or he though he was in love with these Algeria girl and he left the F lead for her slept with that women for a while then they broke up, i don't know if that one have her own story with her M lead but any way dutch here learned that he was not in love with her in that way, thing is he hurted the F lead so much and i couldn't help my self asking was it worth it??.
To be objective i'm sure if he did not sleep with this Algeria he would have always had this though that she is the one for him he needed to live it to release that it's not that way still like a said it hurts hell it hurted me so you can imagine what it did to the F lead and i couldn't call him a jerk or get mad at him because he was honest in his regret.
And i have to say i hated reading the " Fair enough " It was repeated many times for my liking any way i could not give this one star because i give those to the ones i want to punch them, and more then star was not an option i just felt that i was kind of an outsider in the book

When you’ve been rejected and hurt… it’s hard to trust again…

I’ve only recently come across this author, reading another loosely connected series… so I found myself debating whether to just dive in or go back to the beginning.

While stand alone… with this particular story I believe you need precious connection and context in the K19 Security Solutions series, especially Mantis to fully appreciate DUTCH. Really… why start at Bk 5 when there is a whole world of K19 operatives to catch up on.

No matter that attraction reigns hot and heavy between Malin and Dutch… it hurts bad when that person loves another. For a brief moment, you’ll take whatever you can have, until it’s not enough. When enough is not enough and you happen work for the CIA, for Malin - this means burying yourself in work and danger.

For Dutch… he it’s going to take a lot to prove himself to Malin. No journey to love is ever smooth sailing. It’s a difficult path to navigate… it becomes even more hazardous when dangerous intentions all the way to the top and suspense looms… there isn’t time to work out differences or so it would seem… Dutch is determined to claim his lady… the right lady… this time. Malin can't help but fall for his charms yet again.

A recommended reading for those that love page-turning mayhem, love military/spy based heroes, strong female characters that show vulnerability. Mix this up with a suspenseful drama, the intricacies of all that governs one’s relationships, and the intrigue of secrets… Heather Slade has delivered an amazing book - totally engaging. A wonderful story from start to finish, it does jump a little, but still easy to read, during a quiet weekend.

I'm not going to rate this because based on the way this was described in a FB group, I was expecting a lot of OW drama. We didn't really get to see the OW drama; we're just told that Malin and Dutch have been sleeping together and having a relationship, then he gets a call from his female BFF who needs help. He's been in love with said BFF forever, so he runs off and doesn't even wait for Malin to get dressed and leave. He proceeds to sleep with his BFF and have a relationship with her but ends up realizing she belongs with their other BFF. It's been 3 years, and Dutch shows up to save Malin, but he actually blows up her op. Of course there are treasonous ppl high up in the CIA who are after her, so Dutch and his new company are trying to save her. She's so hot and cold with him, and then they end up meeting up with the BFFs when the new company meets to help Malin. The BFF is a total douche to Malin, and I just don't get why? Why are women like this? You got your man. Yes, they were both your BFF, but you fell in love with the other guy, so you have zero claims on Dutch now. If you were truly his friend, you'd be happy for him, not trying to sabotage his relationship.

Again I am starting a series with the latest book instead of the first, but I did find I recognized a couple of folks from Shiver, the first book in Heather's Military Intelligence Section 6 series.
Dutch rescues Malin from a sticky situation and whisks her off to a private island owned by K19 aided by Onyx and his co-pilot Sara.

Malin is CIA she's certain she's about to be burned and her mission was ended before she could get the information that would keep her alive.

Dutch's reasoning for helping Malin is strictly personal, he made a decision that hurt Malin so deeply years ago and he needs to fix it. He doesn't quite know how to do this, but he does know that he wants her and not just for now but forever.

Between the ups and downs in Dutch and Malin's relationship and the K19 crew working to get her in the clear. This book will keep you on your toes.

Plenty of suspense, drama and fiery romance.

I have already purchased the first two books in this series so I can begin to catch up. I really need to do that before the next one releases.

Rejection is devastating

Dutch had no idea just how devastating it had been for Malin when he chose Alegria over her...until she rejects him right back. He knew that same night he had made a mistake, but tried to ignore his head and follow his heart, how did he get it so wrong? How did he not notice Malin was actually the one who held his heart, that's when he realises - men really are that dumb!
Knowing Malin is in danger but doesn't trust him leaves him desperate in a way he has never known, he needs to protect her like he needs his next breath. Desperate men turn to desperate measures but what if he can't secure her safety and her forgiveness?
Malin plays a woman scorned to perfection, however they have a chemistry that cannot be denied and every time they come together is explosive...either rip your clothes off steamy or slice each other to ribbons with well placed words, this book has more twists and switchbacks than others in the series, you will need to stay on your toes to keep up.

Espionage, corruption at high levels of the US government political intrigue including clandestine agencies, presidential election interference and discoveries a junior special agent's on a mission are at the heart of this book. Malin Kilbourne and Dutch Miller have a history and gaving him barge back into her life and save it really doesn't endear him to her. She's angry, feeling betrayed and yet she still cares for him although she doesn't trust him. The same can be said for him. He knows he screwed up when he walked away but now he's back and realizes just how much of an idiot he was to let her go. His protector instincts kick in and he rides roughshod over Malin making decisions without consulting her. It's going to take major work to get her commitment but first she must complete her mission that has ramifications of an historical proportions. Fortunately the K19 has her back all the way.

Wowsa! This is one hot and spicy romance! 💞💓🔥💞

This series is amazing! I am really enjoying each book. 😍

In this book, Dutch finally realizes how big of a mistake he made with Malin and now he needs to set things right with her. Malin isn't so sure she can forgive him, however, all things considered. What doesn't help is how much an alpha male Dutch is and he finally gets it, but he can't let Malin go without a fight. They have so much to work through and yet, they just can't walk away again without trying. 💕💗🔥💕

This is the fifth book in the K19 Security Solutions series and really shouldn't be attempted as a standalone because it is so intertwined with Mistletoe and Mantis. 😉😊

I absolutely loved this book but I have to honest... I am really annoyed with Alegria right now. 😲😟

This series just gets better and better and I have read all of these and all of the preceding Butler ranch series so I am now quite invested in this series and I wasn't disappointed with this latest installment

Dutch always believed he was in love with Alegria abut when she choose mantis over him he had to let her go. Malin always loved Dutch but he could only see Alegria and broke her heart over it but now he is beginning to relaise what he thought was love wasn't anything on hat he feels foe Malin but will she give him a chance after he has broken her heart once already. As always there is the underlying suspense story with plenty of drama and danger fr each f our couples and while this can be read as a stand alone I do think you will enjoy it more if you read the entire series in order.

This is book 5 in the K-19 Security Solutions series and it features Dutch and Malin. Their history left me with my mouth hanging open. I’m not sure I could have EVER forgiven him. What he did was lower than low. He crushed her heart and her spirit when he couldn’t leave fast enough for another. Now, he realizes Malin is the one he’s truly loved all along but because of him she’s hardened her heart. I don’t blame her but Dutch is one determined man on a mission. There were so many ups and downs for these two.

One thing I can say about this book and series is that the planning of these plots must be ENORMOUSLY time consuming. It’s almost difficult to keep up with. In the end, at least, it all makes sense. The drama and suspense were great but the characters are what make this story for me. Fabulous characters!

Dutch Miller and Malin Kilbourne have a history but Dutch walked away to explore what he believed to be greener pastures. In doing so he ripped out and stomped on her heart.

Their paths have crossed once again and Dutch's decisions have put Agent Kilbourne's mission and ultimately her safety at risk.

Stepping in to help keep her safe and to further investigate her mission from all angles, brings back some unwanted, but nevertheless strong, feelings for them both. Is it hatred, love, self preservation or is it simply downright lust?

This is a couple you feel should have always been together whilst appreciating that Malin is distrustful of Dutch and his motives.

Their 'mission' to HEA is sweet but sometimes sad as Malin relives her heartbreak and her subsequent decisions and actions following Dutch's betrayal.

This is a sometimes emotional read but before long and despite his previously bad decisions, this reader was championing Dutch in his efforts to once again win the hand of the fair Malin.

A must read for fans of Heather Slade and her K19 Security team.

Dutch, Dutch, Dutch. I have waited for his story but of course it wasn't complete until he let Al go and he found his way back to Malin. While this is a series where each book is a standalone they do have some overflow and stuff that come from other books in the series and this is that overflow well part of it. You need to have at least read Mantis book to understand this one because Dutch has finally pulled his head out of his butt and is thinking with the right head to make things all better. She know's his tell so he's gonna need to come clean in order to have half a chance of regaining her trust after that punk move. Malin in operation mode is no joke but in broken heart mode she is a whole nuther creature. Either way it goes it's a great read and it's steamy too.

Book 5 in the K19 series. We have met Dutch before and seen him in love with Alegria, but in the end knowing that he could never replace Mantis in her heart, helping them to get back together. He turns to the other woman he loved, the one he had left to be with Alegria. When her life is threatened he will do anything to protect her, and with him all team members of K19, as one big family.
This is their story - Dutch and Malin.
Like the other books, well written, a good blend of political intrigue, romance and adventure. I live the characters of the main characters, as they are complex and deep, anything but stereo-type..

Read alone or in series order, it really doesn't matter as Heather Slade writes detailed, compelling stories that fulfil the reader's needs either way.

Stunningly written with a cast of inspiring, charismatic characters, this book will grab and hold your attention from page one. I find it extremely difficult to write about the actual storyline without giving plot details away, so suffice to say, the book's description and blurb accurately explains the novel.

Heather Slade is a name to look for, even search for...

Easily worth the 5 out of 5 stars given in my review. This book has it all.

Dutch is book 5 in the K19 Security Solutions series and continues the tradition of Heather Slade's amazing storytelling. Once again we visit with characters we have grown to love from past books in this series. Although this book can be read as a standalone the entire series is so worth the read. Dutch and Malin find themselves at odds between their mission and their emotions. Neither is sure of love or their self-worth much less who they can trust and both seek redemption. The bonds of friends and family remain strong and help see Dutch and Malin through the challenges they face but not without incredible danger, twists and turns, and of course steamy heat.

This book is incredible! The plot is strong, unpredictable and based on wonderful characters.
Dutch and Malin have a history that includes a bad breakup. After removing her from a very dangerous situation in the mid-East, Dutch and Malin dance around each other, stumbling over their continued attraction for each other and the secrets Malin carries. It seems that, as a CIA agent, Malin uncovered information with terrible consequences if proven. Although she is not willing to share this intel with Dutch, he believes that Malin is in over her head and pushes her to reveal the particulars so he can protect her. What she ultimately reveals will shake the nation's government to its very core.
