Her blood saves his life. Her embrace slays his soul.
Dante Gabor has survived many things since becoming a vampire, but jumping from a plane and crash landing in the desert without a parachute was pushing it, even for him. To survive the relentless sun, he buries his broken body in its own sandy grave. But healing is painfully slow, and he's forced to rise and hunt for larger prey. Half mad with thirst, he's brought to his knees by the seductive taste of a lone female whose sweet blood heals his body, but leaves him craving still more.
MINE.
Laney Moss loves the Mojave desert that surrounds her home and hikes the upper trails often, prepared for anything she might run across. But nothing prepared her for the monster that comes with the setting sun to stalk her. In the moments before he attacks, one word crashes through her terrified mind — Vampire. She manages to get away, but he tracks the call of her blood and ignites a passion in her that frightens her nearly as much as it thrills her.
Dante is left with no choice but to take her home to his secret lair. Now he just needs to convince her to stay.
L.E. Wilson writes Paranormal Romance starring intense alpha males and the women who are fearless enough to tame them—for the most part anyway. ;) In her novels you'll find smoking hot scenes, a touch of suspense, a bit of gore, and multifaceted characters, all working together to combine her lifelong obsession with the paranormal and her love of romance.
Her writing career came about the usual way: on a dare from her loving husband. Little did they know just one casual suggestion would open a box of worms (or words as the case may be) that would forever change their lives.
Lattes and music are a necessary part of her writing process, and sometimes you'll find her typing away at her favorite Starbucks. She walks two miles to get there, to make up for all of those coffees.

BLOOD SUBMISSION by L.E. Wilson is the fifth book in the Deathless Night series. I went into this book believing it could be read as a stand-alone as each book in the series focuses on a different couple. However, as I progressed through the story, I came to realise I was wrong in my assumptions. Although the couples were different for each installment, there were a series of events, which started from the first installment. Therefore, to gain a full understanding of these events it would be best to start with the first installment. With that being said here are views on what I loved and the things I had issues with.
What I Loved
The Characters
Laney: I loved her strength, her bravery and her determination in the face of her challenges. She found herself in a precarious situation, but she refused to show her fear to the enemy.
Dante: He is the hero, you cannot help but love despite his dark side. He is a tortured soul with a dark past. It would be easy for me to hate him for the manner in which he treated the heroine, but when I learnt of the events that made him the way he was I could not help but empathise with him. He is not a big fan of humans, which was understandable given the treatment meted out to him after being turned into a vampire. Therefore, his confusion as it relates to his reaction to Laney came as no surprise.
Laney and Dante both had demons from their past haunting them, as such it was easy to see how they would develop a rapport with each other. A part from their blood connection, they were connected by their pasts and emotions.
I loved the portrayal of the secondary characters. The author made me curious about their back story.
The Action: The action, which started at around the seventy percent mark, was intense and engaging. It kept me on my toes and made me eager to know how the events would unfold.
The Story
I enjoyed how the story unfolded. It was a well-written and engaging read. Aside from Dante and Laney's relationship, there were other interesting events taking place. Interesting, as these events were where I had a hard time following them. This was not the author's fault. It had to do with the fact I had not read the previous books in the series prior to picking up this one. I will look to rectify this as I am curious to know what triggered these events and how it would eventually unfold.
What I Did Not Like
The Romance
I was not a big fan of the romance. In fact, the romance was non-existent. The interaction between the protagonists was based on a need for sustenance and survival. Then as the story progressed they had difficulty reconciling their feelings with their present situation. In the end, we see them coming to terms with their feelings. However, their journey on this path was fraught with pain, anger and fear.
The relationship aspect of the story was neatly tied up, but in respect of the other events, the story left me hanging.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, this was a good read and I am looking forward to picking up the other books. If you are a paranormal fan and love heroes who have a dark side then you will enjoy this book. Remember though that you need to read the previous books before proceeding with this one.
Another Moss witch and another crazy vampire! But this one tugs at your heart and has you wanting to slap the said vampire silly! I can’t tell you how Dante gets into his predicament, but I can tell you he’s in immense pain! Unable to move he has to survive on the smallest living creatures, until he has enough strength to call larger mammals. Dante isn’t like the other vampires in his coven, he can’t live in a tower of glass and metal, so he lives beneath the coven, in tunnels he’s dug out. Dante likes to doll out pain and death! He’s only happy when torturing his victims before death, he could never understand why Nikulas (a coven member and hero of book one) insisted on drinking bagged blood! So much better to drink from the source..... Laney is such a fighter, not at all the “mouse” Dante seems to want to call her! Always trying to escape, always staying alert, she goes from scared to terrified in a heartbeat, but she never stops trying to escape. She expects to die any minute, she doesn’t understand why he won’t let her go, well except he wants her blood! She understands him more than he thinks she does. If only he didn’t threaten her every five minutes!! Laney and Dante don’t exactly make a perfect match, in fact I’d almost wished she’d gotten away from him! There didn’t seem to be any redeeming qualities for Dante, he really was the monster legends said vampires were. And how could a mere woman tame this wild beast? Did I want her to? Well, at first I would have said no. But getting to know Dante through this book I did want him saved, and this “Moss witch” was the woman to do it. Her power is a phenomenal and formidable force. And it links in nicely with the other witches and story from the previous books. So... with the series coming to an end! That leaves the only female vampire in the coven left! And what a surprise, she’s got the last book. Shall we see where it takes us? Do you need to read in order? Definitely. But if your just buying A Vampire’s Submission, then you might miss out on a few things, but you’ll enjoy the book anyway.
To say that Dante is a complicated dude is a ridiculous understatement of fact. He's dark and twisty and damaged. Those of you who are prone to fangirling over anti-heroes (and you know who you are) should one-click this book IMMEDIATELY.
And the fact that this author can write such diverse heroes in her books makes me love and hate her simultaneously. (The hate being a product of jealousy, of course.) I mean, you go from the sexy Nik, to the broken Luukas, to happy-go-luck Aiden, to the driven Christian, to the dark and twisty Dante...I've never seen such a diverse set of heroes in a series in all my life. And they're all deserving of their heroines and their HEAs in their own unique ways. There's no cut-and-paste in this author's stories. That I can promise you.
In order to avoid gushing and squeeing like a preteen at a Taylor Swift concert, I'll wrap up the review by simply saying that this is a series that keeps getting better and better with every installment. All you lovers of paranormal romance out there: do yourselves a favor and if you haven't already, pick up book 1, Blood Hunger. You'll thank me later. (But know that Nik is mine. I called dibs a long time ago, and there are no take-backs.)
Another amazing book in this series. Wilson is so great at writing heros that you hate and then love. Let's be real here, we are all friends, Dante was a jackass. And let's be real again, he was still a jackass at the end of the book but he was a lovable jackass.
I loved Laney! She was kidnapped, kept in basically a dungeon, and forced to give blood. Yet she was still smart ass-y and defiant and just all around awesome lady.
Im not going to get into everything because spoilers suck but this book was so freaking good! I love this series so so much and I am excited for the next book. Give me some Jesse love!! Whoo!!
Blood Submission is the fifth book in the Deathless Night series, and we get Dante's story. Now, I had a bit of a memory failure where Dante was concerned because I couldn't remember how the curse affected him. I know Christian had to have sex but no release, I know Shea can't touch a male without writhing in pain... but Dante? I just can't remember. Because of this, I think, I kept waiting for something to happen, a light bulb moment for me when I would go 'Aha!!! That's what it is.' Unfortunately for me, this didn't happen. However, the story itself is still absolutely brilliant and will keep you turning from page to page as Laney (our sweet and sassy main female) stands up for herself yet again!
This book is very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. It melds in with the rest of the series, whilst maintaining its own distinct character. Whilst it is Dante and Laney's story, we do get cameos from the others, which helped to round the story out and give you more to go forward. Even with my memory lapse, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and hope to have yet more in this series still to come. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! May 23, 2017
4.5 stars for A Vampire's Submission - vampires, witches, possessed-vamps, brutal violence and normal threats to life of a PNR, horrors in backstories. Not really a standalone, this romance is self contained but the larger stories are all interconnected so reading the series in order is the best way to enjoy these. [If you have concerns with triggers, check out the TW and a few reviews first. YMMV]
Dante's [very old vampire] story is as dark or darker than the rest. He's not a nice guy, and his past life traumas get revealed. Laney [another Moss witch] has her own twisted past with it's set of traumas. Neither can forgive themselves and both seem to have a death wish. We open with their meeting... which comes some time after Dante has escaped his captors [and the airplain they were all in] over the Mohave Desert. Humans and critters are all food to him, and human life carries no value to him so most of Dante's feeding ends up in dead bodies. Until his starving self finds the best tasting blood he's ever encountered, in a lot of centuries. Hmm. Wonder what that means?
The possessed vamp horde is now decaying, and rapidly. Steven [possessed vamp leader, soon to be head demon when all of mankind is overthrown and wiped out] realizes this means Leeha must be dead, and the hunt for all five boxes/clues is on a deadline. Literally. So it's only the end of the world as we know it.
It's painful to slog through the self-hate that Dante and Laney each carry. We can see a slight light at the end of the darkness, but who knows if they'll ever truly bond. There's more in Book 5, both character development and larger story, than the rest. I kinda love that we see so much of the difference between the lost [coming back to the fold and then having to catch up on some really important stuff before they can settle in with a mate they had no idea truly existed] and the reconnected Hunters. Still not overly detailed, although it's decently paced and easy to read, we feel like we've learned a ton in this story. Shea and Jesse are still well in the background and I'm looking forward to their story [so much].
This is the best of the series, so far, and I'm looking forward to getting through book 6 now.
so many questions. so many notes. 75% thru the book and i had realized this is a fifth book to a series, so ive deleted other criticism. this shall be generic and unrelated to it not being a standalone.
this entire book feels like fan fiction (the bad kind).
this writing is pretty shitty. there’s no REAL dialogue and the relationship between the vamp and witch (random?!?) is nonexistent, save for hate-fucking and torture, until towards the end. was hoping for something more than just that, or at the least, this to be good. there was a sudden shift in their relationship when he realized he couldn’t kill her - again, he hated it, and then suddenly loved her.
the random stuff i was thinking as i was reading: HE EATS THE HOMELESS! and why is the demon called steven LMAO. the vampire likes animals and can talk to them! the vampire has takes about how some illnesses are created by big pharma?? there’s a weird thing about the vampire caring about consensual sex but fine with killing people for funsies (not a bad thing - just a weird hill to have to clarify?). she gets a shower (after being detained in a dungeon) and suddenly wants him. WHAT? there’s no world building (quite literally no explanation about much) - but ill just chalk that up to this being the fifth book!
Another excellent story in this series. Dante is old for a vampire and he hates humans. He was captured and escapes by leaping out of an airplane. He almost killed himself, landing in the desert and having to bury himself in sand to keep from burning up. It took forever but finally he healed enough to try to find a city. He stumbles upon Laney and his overwhelming thirst takes over and he attacks her. She barely gets away but he took enough of her blood that he can track her. He finds her and forces her to take him back to Seattle. Their relationship is emotional and as much as he fights it he discovers she's his true mate. The characters are awesome and I couldn't stop reading until I finished it.
I absolutely loved this !! There was something about this character [Dante] that drew me from the beginning of this series, Blood Hunger, so I was dying to get this in my hands.I had a picture in my mind of Dante and the woman who would bring him to his knees. That picture was realized!!!! L E gave me what I was expecting and more. From the moment Dante digs his way out of the sand to the very end, this book will take you on a ride you don't want to get off. It also keeps in touch with the favorites from past books as well as introducing new characters. I know will wait[not] patiently for the next installment of this series. Can't wait for Jesse and Shea's story. I won't give away any spoilers as I read this voluntary as an ARC.
4.5 stars, love an anti-hero and an h who is not feisty or sassy. The cover is good depiction of them. He is old, believes himself to be a monster. She has had a great loss and she too believes she is a monster. He is so removed from his humanity, that he forgets to feed her but she believes she deserves to suffer, so she doesn't complain. Gradually they bond, begin to trust, and find their humanity. I liked this story line very much, lots of angst and he his thoughts are wonderfully monstrous.
This series just gets better and better with each book . I've devoured everyone so far and can't wait to read Shea's book next.
Dante and Laneys' story was a sad one. The loss they individualy shared was so great it shaped them to who they are today. Dante preferred to live in darkness, but Laney became his light, each sharing that loss until Dante began to see the light . This book is darker than the previous ones, but it was a fitting tale to explain their story ..
So the story continues and the author stays true to her characters through out the series.
That being said, I really didn't like Dante and skimmed most of the book. Had it just been about him and his mate it would have been a 1 star review, but getting to know Shea better was worth an extra star.
Hope the next one is better. Looking forward to getting all answers and getting a final end without cliffhangers.
Dante is a character you will either love or love to hate him....Sure his past isn't squeaky clean DUH he has been a vampire for centuries! Typically, a vampire isn't by nature a boy scout, they do and will have multiple skeletons in their cupboards. Let's face it they put all of them there! Anyways i digress... Another fantastic book in the Deathless Night Series!!
It was OK but not great as the other books. The romance was zero and the relationship was very cold for me. If I didn't read the previous books I wouldn't know Dant's curse. There wasn't any indication to his problems. It seemed the curse was very old not new with Luukas's disappearance. I think Laney is a little old, she is 38 years old.
Every book gets better in this series. Loved reading about Dante and learning his story. Definitely the darkest character so far but doesn't disappoint with true passion and action. Loved this book and excited to find out what happens next.
This book is most definitely the best of the series so far. I am not going to give spoilers because not released yet, am ARC for this author. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend you read the series in order but you will not regret reading them all. L.E. Wilson is one of the few who write about vampires and make it exciting and intriguing. I read this book in a few hours lol it was that good.
Dante's world is lonely & eternal-vampire, meets (in a round-about way) Laney, her world is finite & human. But she's his mate! So will she embrace him and his world-to have eternity together? Find out in this riveting, sensual, & intriguing addition to Ms. Wilson's Deathless Night series. Loved this fantastic book. Can't wait for Shea's story!
Blood Submission book 5 in the deathless night series by LE Wilson is another amazing 5 star read. Dante is a very old vampire,he's recently been hurt in a fall from an aeroplane and is trying to get himself well enough to get back to Seattle and the rest of his coven,he comes across a female hiking in the desert and after tasting her blood he decides to bring her along to feed on with every intention of killing her once he's home, but there's something about her and her blood that he finds himself softening towards her. Dante has issues with humans ever since he was turned so he does everything he can to protect himself from the feelings he has for the woman he finds out is a witch. Laney Moss is a mother grieving a lost child she doesn't let anyone get close to her,she spends her free time hiking in the desert and when she comes across Dante he looks half dead but when she sees his fangs she knows her life will never be the same but she doesn't give up easily. Finding out that her life is connected to Dante in ways she could never imagine she tells him her whole horrid life story and finds herself slowly falling for him, when she's taken by monsters worse than the vampire holding her she finds a part of herself she didn't know existed. This was an amazing addition to the series and LE Wilson has definitely outdid herself with Dante's story I loved every part of it and can't wait for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I think I’ve made it clear since my review of Blood Hunger some time ago that I’m going to stick with this series until the end. It’s unique and well-written with sexy alpha male heroes and the tough, quirky heroines who love them. Blood Submission is no different. Well...not ENTIRELY different, at least…
I added that little disclaimer at the end of the last sentence because Dante is not the typical hero I’ve come to expect from this author. The line between good guy and bad guy is razor thin in this one. Dante’s nothing like Nik and Aiden, both of whom are supremely likeable and clearly “good guys.” Dante is dark, dangerous, and a little warped/twisted. (And not without good reason, as it turns out) Fans of anti-heroes will likely drool over him. I myself prefer Nik and Aiden, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the, um, appeal of the dark side (so to speak).
Laney’s an interesting heroine. She’s smart and strong, with a great survival instinct (which, as it turns out, she desperately needs with Dante). I wish she would’ve fought a little harder to escape Dante early on (and not be so quick to fall into lust with him), but that’s a minor quibble that in no way impacted my overall enjoyment of the story.
All in all, this is another great installment in a highly enjoyable series that I intend to see through to the very end. (Shea and Jesse: Can’t wait!)
Full disclosure: the author generously provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unless you are going to commit to reading the books preceding this one in the series (#5), you may not get much out of- or like more than 1/2 of this paranormal romance. The 1/2 that focused on Dante and Laney- superb. Arresting and me likey. However, when the back story, danger main plot comes into play- nope. Hunh and it was really a little bit lazy.
