Naysayers should never be one's standard bearer!
Halley thought her role as a child was to be the glue to keep her dysfunctional family together and to internalize the hateful and cruel things said to and about her by jealous people who wanted to be her. Fast forward to adulthood and she is still allowing the same thing to occur just on a larger scale. Then she truly falls in love just about the same time her betraying ex comes back professing his love. Allow me to digress! Women nor men should allow their identity to be wrapped up in whether or not they have a love interest especially when that mode of thinking cause them to act against their own best interest. Asher the cowboy billionaire was suffering some of the same feelings about himself following how his ex-wife treated him and their kids. Thankfully both Asher and Halley woke up before it was too late. Very good story that made me want to wring the two exes's necks, but I hung in there and things turned out just fine for Asher and Halley!!!!!!!!

Great job
Another great one thanks for sharing.I don't know how people can be so cruel and inhumane. Even children can be mean and spiteful. However Halley grew up to become a beautiful woman and was happy or so she thought until she was betrayed by her so called boyfriend. Which caused her to have to leave town since people started to be cruel again and not believing that she had nothing to do with what her boyfriend's betrayal caused. So she went to live with her brother on a ranch to be a vet to his boss's animals. Little did Asher know that what he assumed was just another beauty queen like his ex wife was so different had intelligence and knew what she was doing and was also good for his children and maybe for him too if they both could accept that.But them his ex shows up and the drama and heartbreak begins. I really am happy I got to read this story. I really enjoyed it!

Unimpressed. Several lines made me think the author intended for Asher to be Halley’s white savior. Halley for sure struggled in life bec of her looks as a child and despite being accomplished carried deep scars. Other than the few lines that may have thrown shade on Halley as a black female, the novel was ok.
