Just a couple of weeks until INFERNO is finally here!!! Con's book has been a long time coming, and there is so much happening with the Dragon Kings. I hate spoilers (especially the ones that are leaked that I have no control over), but I will say that if you think you know the biggest secret of the Dragon Kings, there is so, so, SOOOOOO much more that's been kept secret. :)
Get ready for a massive thrill ride where you'll finally get answers to so many questions, you'll get to see one hell of an epic battle, and you will get some jaw-dropping revelations!!!

SPOILERS - Read at your own risk
First, long time fan of the series, the world, the spinoffs, and the author. I enjoyed this book until about chapter 40. At that point, the more I read, I found myself guessing the EXACT direction things were going. This proved to be disappointing.
BIG SPOILERS AHEAD - last chance to avoid it
I guessed that Con was Rhi's king around the 5th or 6th book. It was just so obvious to me that I was in no way shocked when this was leaked earlier this year. With that knowledge for basically 10+ books, why would I ever be ok with Con sleeping with Usaeil when she is revealed as Rhi's birth mother? That is gross and I couldn't get past it. I saw Grant setting it up but hoped she wouldn't do this. The icing on this gross cake that yes, I guessed it as well, Rhi and Con have kids. Erith is supposed to be Con and Rhi's friend and she kept these massive secrets from them for YEARS. I can't accept her reasoning and neither should Con and Rhi. WHY did Grant have to make Usaeil her mother? WHY allow them to have twins that know of their parents but the parents don't know of them? WHY let these twins be leaders of the dragons(that were sent away)on another realm? This is how you finish this epic tale? I can't believe the sex isn't even addressed as YUCK after it's revealed. WHY would Grant do this to these beloved characters? They had already been through so much that this was unnecessary. We already knew Rhi was going to defeat Usaeil. We already knew Rhi was a better queen. We already knew Rhi was loved by her people. We did NOT need for her to have a blood relation claim to the throne. Making Usaeil her mother was so uncalled for. Did Grant think no one would find it gross that mother and daughter had sex with the same man? Honestly, when I realized this was happening, I could no longer read any of the steamy scenes with Con and Rhi. Any time they kissed, it made me cringe. So disappointed.
Again, I guessed that Melisse is the weapon because she was a dragon. It was a nice twist to make her half dragon half dark fae and the first dragon queen. I'm going to go ahead and guess that Henry will be her mate eventually. Also going to go ahead and guess that the daughter of Con and Rhi is going to be one of the kings mates.
I wish Grant would have explored the storyline about returning the dragons to the healing fae realm more than the storyline about that book(which was a journal penned by Erith) and its secrets.
Final thoughts
I enjoyed part one and two of this book. I did not enjoy part three. I recommend this series often and will continue to do so. But this book was disappointing considering it is the end of this series. I just think Con and Rhi deserved a better book. I know there are spinoffs in the works and look forward to reading them. This book did not turn me away from wanting to read more from Grant. I look forward to her next reaper book and 1001 novella.

Constantine had found Rhi, the woman that he loved, his mate. But because his friends, the other dragons kings hadn't found their mates, Con left Rhi to focus more of his attention on the war that came and to make sure his friends found their mates. But its now been many, many years and he's tired of watching the other dragon kings get their mates and be happy. It's now his time to make his mate realize that they belong together and try to forgive him for all the years they lost because he walked away.
Rhi is now the Queen of the light fae but an old enemy (Usaeil) comes back when everyone thought she was dead, claiming to be the true queen of all the fae. So there's a fight between Usaeil and Rhi because Usaeil needs more magic than she has in order to win the fight which puts Rhi in a lot of danger.
I've been reading this series since the first book and I have watched Con and Rhi as their hearts broke over and over again. I knew Rhi was strong but even she couldn't hold out when Con turned up the charm once he set his sites on getting her back.
There's a mysterious book, lots of secrets revealed and a couple of twists that I loved. This is the last book in the series but I've heard that there will be a spin off series and a lot of the characters from this series will appear there as well so it's not really over. This was a great way to end the series though, I really enjoyed this book.

*******Major Spoilers****
Each individual book in the series seemed like a repeat of each other. Dragon guy sees girl, explanation of how lonely the chick is, insta luv, long drawn out magic/dragon/warrior/Druid/fae history story, explanation of being a mate, some kind of battle, sprinkle in a sex scene or two in the mix, the end. Rinse and repeat 25+ times with different names, eye, and scale colors. (SN: Celadon and Jade are pretty much the same color 🤷🏽♀️) There are small deviation, but pretty much the same story on repeat for 17+ books and novellas.
The best part of the whole series to me were the interactions between Rhi and Con and their interactions with everyone else. Their story was super interesting even when it was cliche at times. It was obvious they were mates but I liked the mystery of it not being officially confirmed. The snippets of them are what made me read/skim the other twenty something books and Novellas and had me excited for this book.
Fast ward to yesterday, :-/..... if my expectation had been low I would’ve had the same meh 😕 reaction. But I was actually looking forward to this book. I just knew that because Rhi and Con already knew each other and their history, the rinse and repeat storyline wouldn’t be use in this book. I was hoping that I wouldn’t be reading explanations and back stories that were told ad nauseum. Well, I guessed wrong.
The thing that I initially liked about Con was that he was a man a few words, stoic, rigid, hard on the outside and a softy and super caring in the inside. Rhi was the wild child opposite of Con except she was just as caring and loving of the overall group. Based on the ending of book 17, I was excited to see how Con broke down after holding everything together for so long and how (my hope) Rhi or the other kings were going to save and restore him since he always stepped in and saved everyone else even when he thought it was a bad idea. That’s not why I got. Instead, Con was turn into a love sick puppy who spilled his guts about his lost love to anyone who would listen. Rhi’s character was what I expected, she was hurt and after years of rejection she understandably didn’t want to deal with him. Con’s didn’t fit the persona that was built up over 17+ books. He was a over ripe emotional banana. He was snappy, sappy, and seemed like he was always on the verge of tears. After all this time he suddenly had a quick meltdown and realized Rhi was the one for him and he would do anything to get her back.....😒
Then all of the loose story lines that had to be tied.... double 🤦🏽♀️. Melisse, was an obvious twist but a quick random blurb. What made her sooooo dangerous???? Con went from not knowing anything about the weapon for centuries to knowing everything about her while he was supposed to be going through this war and mental breakdown. Then Henry made absolutely noooooo sense to her story line. His connection to her was not explained enough for it to make sense. Con was supposed to be super smart and look at every situation from multiple angles but he never did that with the one thing/person that could easily kill all the dragons??? He just did as he was told????
Morann was killed by the random last minute addition Rona? Ooooookaaaay. I just knew Rona was Usaeil. She was just too random. As for Morann, She just randomly walked out of her prison/room through a whole bunch of trackers. All of a sudden the trackers don’t attack on sight. They are rational and don’t attack her cause they are.....all of a sudden scared of her? Coran went from vaguely hearing about Morann to knowing everything she did millions of years ago and knowing that she was going g to die at that moment.
Rhi being Usaeil’s daughter. Why? What was the purpose. I wasn’t bothered by the Con sleeping with mom and daughter thing. He didn’t know and Shit happens. I just didn’t see why it was necessary. It was bad enough that he knowingly slept with his ex supposed love of his life’s friend and mentor. Why make her Rhi’s mom too? That was pointless.
Con and Rhi having twins and the dragons being safe in another realm. I don’t understand why Erith took them. She said she could only save one, but there was two babies? Then she said she knew Rhi could heal herself, so again why take the babies? She never told them about the twins or at least let Con know that the other dragons are safe. She is the worst kind of “friend”. I would of rather DG let V find that the dragons were fine and safe than to let it be known that Erith knew the WHOLE time and watched him suffer under that unknown. She knew that was one of the biggest weights on Con’s shoulders and never told him. Plus she knew almost all the Kings wanted families and they were resigned to the fact that they most likely would never have a kid. She not only kept the fact that they could have kids a secret but she kept the fact that Con and Rhi, who struggled with the weight of being lonely, had not one but two ✌🏽kids and the kids had been around them and the long lost dragons???? Come on 🤦🏽♀️ that was just tooooo much.

Con: "I've no' made mistakes. I've made catastrophes."
Torin about Balladyn: "The point is, he needs to keep his distance from this realm." What is that supposed to mean?
Con to Rhi: "There are Kings here now who will never be mated because their other half is neither human nor Fae. They're dragons." Why do I suddenly think of Vaughn? What is he up to?
This book has been in the making for quite some time. I know there was a SNAFU concerning the blurb of the book. Actually the pairing was something I did expect (or rather hope for), but other than that I knew next to nothing. There were still unanswered questions. Why did he what he did, what happened in the past, how went it all down and how will they get back together?
His motivations had been described really simple. He did care for his brethren more than his own happiness and therefore his mate. Sometimes it is that simple and that complicated at the same time. Sometimes you are in a position when you have to make a choice and hope it is the right one. Sometimes love alone isn't enough. Oftentimes you simply can't please everyone. I personally liked how they got back together. It was clear from the beginning that they still love each other. The question was: would it be enough this time?
We get answers to the most important questions. What is the Weapon, will there be any children, will there ever be a female Dragon King?
Moreann's end was fitting.
The final battle is just between Rhi and Usaeil. It is not an epic battle with thousands of people clashing in a fight with a lot of casualties and I am thankful for that. It is mostly between these two, but it is described long and detailed enough that it can be called the big showdown. Usaeil's actual death was fitting, too. She reaped what she sowed.
After Usaeil's defeat we have enough pages left to wrap things up. But just because we have some answers to the most urgent questions doesn't mean all is clear.
There were things that bothered me.
I wish Con's red journals would have played a bigger part. Why wasn't Rhi's father exactly thrilled about her involvement with Con? What about Rolmir, did Moreann really have his body and soul? These particular storylines went nowhere. Or maybe they will be addressed in future books?
I could have done without one twist in the story.
My opinion: It was a good book, just not that great epic adventure I was expecting for these two characters. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I am not pleased with some developments.

I began reading Donna Grant's "Dark World" series of books back with the first one in the "Dark Sword" series (7 books) in 2010. It was mesmerizing. That series spun off to the "Dark Warriors" series (9 books). Excellent. Another spin off resulted and the longest running series to date, the "Dark Kings" series (29 books). A spin off out of that is the "Reaper" series (ongoing at 11 books). All of the characters from all of the series cross-over into the other series. A lot of characters with a lot of relevant story lines which all intersect. There are a lot of puzzle pieces which pretty much all come together in this last book, Inferno. Of course, we are still left with a few dangling puzzle pieces which, apparently, lead to a new spin off series to come. I am happy to say that this one book was my very favorite of the "Dark Kings" series, for obvious reasons.

I almost dropped the series altogether because it was getting ridiculous. I hope the "Reaper" series and the new unnamed spin off does not follow that pattern. Omg omg omg yes finally I made it to Cons book and boy I was not disappointed. Besides the fact I wanted to reach threw the book and choke a couple of the characters…I absolutely loved this book. Laughed, cried, anxious and rejoiced. Loved it.

Oh wow! I am counting the days; I love the blurbs. Although I hate his decision of being Usaeil's lover (really, the one person that caused rhi so much pain?), knowing Con, he probably did it because he thought having the queen of the light fae by his side was a smart idea, a good ally. I still hate that, but I KIND of understand him. That's the one thing I dislike about his character, but other than that he and Rhi are my favorite characters. I am sure I will be finishing reading the book in one day. lol

Maybe if I could give half stars, I'd give this one a 3 1/2. I'm so conflicted about this darn book. I have been waiting for years for this book and this story only to be left...confused? mildly disappointed? There were some great things in this story as well, but with so much built up anticipation for this story, I felt a bit let down. Spoilers ahead...

I can not wait for this book the minute I saw it was Con's I got the biggest case of goosies ever and I almost cried both sad and happy tears. This isn't going to be a popular review, because I know so many loved it. I just felt there were so many inconsistencies from what we know about Con and Rhi. For 17 plus books, Con has been a strong silent type, take no prisoners type. Now all of a sudden he is a high school boy wanting to talk feelings and stuff. He is whinny and needy and it was...wrong. Con and Rhi pretending to be together seemed so cheesy, and like 5 years ago in the romance genre.
Then, you have the fact that Con slept with both mother and daughter at different times, did the author not put that together when she came up with this? That is kind of...gross.
We have the bitch queen finally meeting her maker, but is it Rhi that gets to kill her? The light that she has wronged? No, it is the dark, that she never did anything to, never really lead them, never really did anything to them, why do they get to kill her? Why couldn't someone or group of someones that she actually wronged have gotten that privilege? Not only that, but she didn't use ANY magic when they attacked her? Weird.
Erith kept 2 children from Con and Rhi for CENTURIES, and everyone is ok with that? Just, oh hey, we have kids.
PLUS, Clarie's baby...never know what happens.

Hmmm.... This one i really, really did not like all that much....
I feel like, after getting THE reason as well as reading the rest of the Book, it did not leave me satisfied with anything about the plot and the characters. It didnt feel like we were builing up for THIS!
Ohhhh Con, you weak little hrmmmmm....
There were "major" revelations or plot twists that just left me feeling lukewarm about the whole thing.
This is the 18thBook, not counting side novellas and it did not feel like the last Book of such a long series and now we know it really isnt....
And counting the chapter, the last one at that, where Erith shows/tells Con and Rhi WHAT EXACTLY she´s REALLY been hiding??? Honestly? That was such a major What the f**k moment.... YOU ARE NOBODYS FRIEND, sneaky ass you...-.- Also Melisse and Henry are not THAT interesting either...Well Henry isnt...-.-
It really feels like some cheap move to sell the next Storyline/Arc whatever...
Maybe ill continue the Reapers Series, i dont know, its just yeah, this Book left a weird, cheap cop out taste behind....

I have waited YEARS for this book.
I first started with Kellan's book, Darkest Flame, not even realizing that it was a spin off but from the first meeting of Rhi and the mentioning of her King, I KNEW it was Con. How could it not be? I went back and read all of the Warrior books and then made my way back to this glorious series. The worst part of reading these was the wait. While I binged through the others, I still had to wait at least 6 years to get to this point.
While I would have LOVED for Con to grovel more I do understand how he didn't have to do too much for Rhi to understand his actions. Yes, she made it hard for him but in the end, she could see the truth to it.
To draw out Usaeil, Rhi took the throne to the Light Fae. She thought it would be enough to gain her attention, which is true, but it wasn't enough to get her to move into action. In comes Con, he sees his opening and he grasps at it with both hands. He is determined to show Rhi that he is there for her now and always.
While she is trying to see this as a strategic move, Con sees it as his lifeline. He can't be without his mate any longer and if he can't have her then he sees no reason to keep going as he has been. A little dramatic but if you know the story behind the dragons and their sleep, you'll know it is last resort. So he has this one last shot to get his mate back and keep her for eternity.
Rhi has never stopped loving him. We all know this but she wouldn't be able to take it if Con rejected her again. She has accepted her death, as long as Usaeil goes down with her. While Con understands that it is her battle, he wants nothing more than to be by her side to protect her. But Rhi has never needed him. She has just always wanted him.
I think what I loved most about this specific story wasn't just that it was finally Rhi's turn but that it humanized Con. We always saw him as this stoic figure that seemed cold and callous and here we finally get to see his mind and his feelings. The King of Dragon King finally gets his time and I couldn't love him more. I guess it's finally time Kellan gets knocked off his throne, but I already knew Con would do it for me.
There is so much more that I want to say but they would be massive spoilers.
So I'll just stick to my tiny list here.
1. Druids of Skye play a big part in this story.
2. The Warriors and Druids of MacLeod Castle appear again, with a small part.
3. Phelan finally found out who Rhi's King was and I wanted him to punch Con. Just a little.
4. The book (with the moving letters) finally gets read and spills some secrets
5. Melisse. I freakin knew it! ha!
6. Erith is on my shit list. You'll see.
7. The dragons! There is obviously going to be more to this (aside from the fact Donna already released the blurb for the next Dragon King book)
8. Just Con and Rhi. Perfect. I love them.
Now to go ALLLLLL the way back and re-read.

The storyline has been building so hard throughout this series that I was dying for the final installment. The conflicts that had been created and building had me grabbing up each new book in my dire need to know what was going on. With Inferno, I was not disappointed. I got the romantic relationship I wanted, I got the action and resolutions I wanted and there were even some surprises. We are left with a few tidbits, but I believe that is necessary as Donna Grant not only wrote a few novellas following this book, but also has the spin-off series Dragon Kings to bring these tidbits into.
The relationship between Con and his mate had the conflict that we thought they would just not be able to overcome. Too much time and pain had passed for this to be an easy fix. I was surprised at how I felt about Con's mate. She was so much more vulnerable than what we are used to. I kind of wanted her to stand a little stronger and make things as difficult for Con as I felt he deserved.
All our favorite and not so favorite characters come together to finally put an end to the enemies of the Dragon Kings as well as one crazy bitch. Over all, I was taken through a good mix of emotions and left feeling satisfied, yet curious at the end. I know a lot of people don't like any loose ends being left, but I feel like they were necessary to entice people to move on to the next series. Inferno really lived up to what I wanted in Con's book.

There are many forces against the dragons but Constantine and his mate have to trust each other first before they can fight and survive all the forces against them.

Fighting for freedom and a better world for themselves.

Con has been this stoic guy with all the answers for so long, I rather enjoyed seeing him become an emotional basket case. He finally opened up and let everything free. Literally. It was kind of funny actually. Personally, if I had to hold as much feeling as Con did for thousands of years, I’d be emotionally constipated as well.
Rhi has long been one of my absolute favorite characters in the series. She’s tough, sassy, and always carried a hopeful outlook on many situations. So watching her deteriorate over the last few stories was a challenge. I can’t blame her for being so cold after all the hurt she suffered for so long, but she did put Con on alert, keeping their emotional battle field alive and well for a bit.
Groveling was added to Con’s vocabulary fairly quick. It was a process for sure and I happily admit he did a decent job of trying to make up for a lot.
I’ve been reading the Dark World Series since the very start. Some books and better than others, but I know I can jump in at any point and never feel lost with the story line because a brief summary is always provided somewhere. Constantine and Rhi have been circling one another for years, so I was obviously thrilled to finally get some resolution on their relationship! Some areas were wrapped up with a tidy bow, while other threads left me hanging in curiosity of what will happen next! I enjoyed Rhi and Con’s tumultuous romance and was thrilled with the additional cast of so many characters joining the final battle against Usaeil.

Ugh. After all the excitement this book was a huge let down. There was just too much shoved into this book and yet too many things left unanswered and others felt unnecessary. Did Usaeil really need to be connected to Rhi in such a way. How could Edith keep such a huge secret and then drop the bomb in the epilogue. You can tell the spin offs are coming, but I’m done with the series.

It’s very hard to write a review of Inferno without giving away any spoilers. What I will say is that we get to learn about Con from his early years as a young dragonet, his becoming King of the Golds, his role as King of the Dragon Kings and, of course, his romantic interest. There are appearances by many of the characters who have been regulars throughout much of the Dark Kings series: Ulrik, Usaeil, Rhi, Balladyn, and Erith, to name a few. The Warriors, the Druids of Skye, and the Reapers are also drawn into the final confrontation. Tension builds as the story reaches its climax. Not everything is resolved in Inferno. There are several individuals whose stories have yet to be told: .
Then again, there is another Reapers novel coming out in November followed by a novella that is the first in a new series called the Dragon Kings, a spinoff of the Dark Kings. According to Donna Grant’s website, there will be one last Dark Kings novella in February 2021, two new Reapers stories, and two more Dragon Kings novels scheduled to be released in 2021. So, winging along, there are more dragon tales (tails?!) to come. Donna Grant’s Dark World is a creative fantastical paranormal romance series with its ongoing theme of good versus evil. Wonderful ending for the Dragon Kings series. I sort of figured out early on in the series who Rhi's Dragon King always was. It was sort of obvious. I wasn't surprised in the least. I just needed confirmation. The epilogue was sort of a shock but sort of expected. I hope that Ms. Grant gives us a spin-off series on the new realm that the dragons are on (the dragons who went across the bridge within the series). I'm hoping Erith (Death) takes each King to see his clan. We also got a cliffhanger with a new possible series regarding Henry being the JusticeBringer and His sister the TruthSeeker and what that might entail as well for the Druids. I'm praying we get to see Balladyn get his own HEA in an upcoming Reaper novel. I feel he sort of deserves it, since he was horrifically betrayed twice. I'm very happy that Erith saved him.
On a negative note I did feel the story dragged a bit and I was expecting more drama and more hardcore battles like we had with Brian with the Reapers. I was slightly disappointed. Especially with this being Con and Rhi's book and Usaeil getting her just desserts. I didn't rate this a five for this reason. I did like that the whole dark world was included with battle plans even though it didn't play out this way.
The whole dark series is a fantastic getaway into fantasy/paranormal fiction. The entire dark world so far has been a pleasure to read. I'm looking forward to more and hope Ms. Grant gives it to us.

I finally got back to the Dark World with the Fae, Dragon Kings and Reapers. I waited some years before I re-started reading it.
I re-read some of the Reapers books recently and thought I wanted to know, how the Dark Kings series might end and I was actually looking for what happened to Xaneth.
So I jumped ahead and started reading Inferno. It wasn't a big surprise for that Rhi and Con had been together before.
But what came as a big surprise was the totally lame-ass reason Con gave for breaking up with Rhi. What an asshole! What an idiotic reason. Same as with his move going to Ubitch. Really, the big guy had a moment of weakness?!
If I had been in Rhi's impressive shoes, I would have skewered the asshole and roasted him over an open fire. Nope. That wasn't a good reason.
Same as Rhi's lame acceptance that she had needed to go that path alone. Stupid.
This book was a big disappointment for me for the relationship standpoint. Half the book they weren't really talking only flinging barbs and insults back and forth and suddenly after they had sex and Con gave his spiel about the big noble reason, they loved each other again. ?! Huh ?! What did I miss? Ugh.

Con has been one of my favorite characters from the beginning when I started this Series. I loved his brooding male ego, his tough as nails demeanor, the way he hid his emotions from everyone, his suits that always were completed by his dragon cufflings, and most of all the way he could bring these amazing Dragon Kings together as a unit even when shit was hitting the fan. I honestly don't think anyone could do a better job at being King of Dragon King's then he. He just has what it takes.
Rhi is everything I wish I could be. She is sassy, beautiful, quick with the wit, loves with everything she has and is a fierce Warrior through and through.
This book gave me everything I wanted and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat, I was having mini freak outs (in the back room at work none the less 🤣) I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I felt the passion and love sizzling off the pages and into my soul.
This was a true masterpiece of epic proportions! Donna Grant thank you from the bottom of my heart for this magical world you have created. I have never had a need to read a series so bad until I picked up this one and then I couldn't put it down! It captivatited me from the first page and held me in it's thrall! I can't wait to see what is in store next!! My heart is so full right now❤️❤️

LOVED!! This book was everything I wanted it to be and so freaking much more. Now this is the last book in the official Dark Kings series but know that doesn't mean that Donna Grant is done with the dragons. Not by a long shot. And if she was I think we would all rebel after reading this book. Without giving too much away this novel wraps up several loose ends rather nicely. It wraps up the current enemies, the weapon, and (of course) who Con's mate is. We learn more about Con in this book than any other and things make more sense after finding out about him and Rhi. After I finished this book I honestly didn't know what to read next and I'm kind of still in that state. So be warned this one will leave you with a wicked book hangover.

This novel is #18 and the final novel in the series, "Dark Kings" by author; Donna Grant. This novel was so worth the wait! All I have to really say is WOW just WOW! Totally amazing! What a bittersweet ending to a fantastic series! The Epilogue now was a TOTAL shocker in which I hope there's another spin-off that involves a couple of other main characters. There really isn't much to say except that this was an EXCELLENT read and so well written that I had goosebumps and tears (sad and happy) I LOVED IT! This really has been a great journey to read. I highly recommend this series, novel and author. You won't be disappointed! HAPPY READING!
