The gargoyles have always been guardians, they were created to protect the citadel and the surrounding area from vampires. When one of their own finds his fated mate some of the other gargoyles dream of finding their other half too. Petro has dreamed of not being alone anymore. Of having someone to share his life with and give it more meaning. When he finds a vampire while on patrol he has no idea how much his life is about to change.
Keir is a vampire, he’s been alive longer than many of the gargoyles. But his existence has become a life of hiding during the day to avoid the sun, and avoiding people until he is forced to feed. A chance meeting changes that, and he’s forced to do the bidding of another ancient. Someone with more power over his will than anything he’s experienced before.
Fated mates and sworn enemies. A gargoyle and a vampire who will test the strength of their bond, and all it means to them.
This is book Two in The Stone Series, it follows the events of Book One, Stone Under Skin, and features different characters.
In her incredible sequel, BL Maxwell pairs a gargoyle with a vampire as fated mates. This alone is challenging enough, given that vampires and gargoyles are sworn enemies. But the vampire Keir is still able to be influenced by his sire, a brutal so and so I simply must have a long talk with the author about! Lucky for Keir, his gargoyle Petro is a seer who had dreamed that his mate was a vampire. So the citadel's directive to kill all vampires who pose a threat to humanity is tempered by Petro's knowledge that fate has something truly wonderful for him. If only Keir's vulnerability to his sire can be disrupted. Let's face it, folks! I paced the floor and punched a few pillows listening to the audiobook. Beautifully narrated by Allen Jeffries, the characters of 'Blood Beneath Stone' came to life magnificently. This was extremely well done!
I enjoyed this different take on enemies to lovers with the fated mates twist. I also appreciated the fact that it wasn't an instalove attraction since they were technically enemies. This was another great story for this series and keeps me looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

When I started this series, intrigued by the gargoyles, I'd expected them to be some harda$$ed, stone hearted beings. And they are, particularly when they fight their enemies or when they defend their own, but I never expected them to be endearing softies, melted by the smallest smile from their mates.
Petro doesn't care one bit that his mate Keir is a vampire. Having found his mate is such a precious gift, and he would do anything to keep Keir safe, even if it means giving all his blood or life. And he might need to, because Keir is under the control of a ruthless ancient vampire, one immensely powerful and hard to kill.
BL Maxwell has kept poor Petro and Keir mostly apart throughout the book. My heart fell for the guys, because a future together seemed almost impossible. Despite angelic help or the support of Petro's brethren, I feared that only their ultimate sacrifice would rid the world of the ancient evil. So I was glued to the pages of 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲, dreading the worst outcome of their quest and hoping for the best. Because they have lived millenia of loneliness, it's hight time they would have the chance at many more of happiness.
4.5 stars.. A great start to the book, this is book two of the series which I'd read as a standalone which works great. I loved the refusal of Keir as he faught his bond with Pedro. Unable to believe they where fated mates he puts his own life is danger by the Watcher. Andreas must be stopped at all cost but Pedro life is in danger. I loved the Watcher in this she's a smart lady not to be messed with. The humour parts in this was adorable mixed with the dramas made a great book. A beautiful ending. Written with both characters POVs.
Pedro was a gargole searching for vampires to destroy who followed Marius. He'd been having dreams of a vampire with the bluest of eyes and knew he had a mate. Keir was a vamp and at the mercy of a gargole hearing they where fated and didn't believe any of it.
I actually loved it. This story is about vampires, gargoyles, a true demon and fated mates. What do you do when your sire is a real demon who starves the vamps he creates and brings them to the brink of madness. This story is truly unique, totally intriguing, packed with action and a love that can’t be broken.-Enjoy

The Vampire and the Gargoyle (Audio review) 4.5 Fantastic story
Petro, a Gargoyle guarding the Citadel, has always dreamed of not being alone. He was wanting to share his life with someone, especially after Ankit finding his one.
Keir, a vampire, has spent all his life doing what his maker has ordered. He has been alive forever and has always fought against the Gargoyles until he met Petro.
Petro meets Keir, and he realises that Keir is his fated mate, but Keir will not hear of such a thing. He belongs to his ancient master who turned him and not some Gargoyle.
This series of books are different to anything I've ever read, and I'm thoroughly enjoying these books.
Well written, great world-building, solid characters and story — and a HEA.
The narration from Allen Jeffries was clear and easy to listen to. Although, I did find one of the voices grated on me. As usual, I sped up the audio, and I listened at 1.45 speed on audible, but I prefer all my audios to be quicker.

Even though I said I wasn’t going to continue with the series after feeling disappointed by the first one, Stone Under Skin, alas, my love of gargoyles pulled me to this one. I was almost as underwhelmed as the first time. There is a great story here but I don’t think the author did the best job of executing it. Both Petro and Keir are extremely likable but the flow of the story and the flowery dialogue were rather clunky. And Jonna has certainly grown since the beginning but her powers seem to be open to, or limited by, what is convenient for the storyline. And must she begin everything with the caveat that is won’t be easy on will be painful? One of the things that bothers me most is that this supposedly takes place in modern times but gargoyles and vampires all about, flying around and living in a large citadel, there are never any people around or no concern over being seen. And with Andreas just slaughtering entire villages, how is it that the only worry expressed was about attracting the attention of the gargoyes? It felt too medieval for what was allegedly the middle of modern day Europe.
Petro surprises me. He’s so much more than I expected. He’s patient, understanding and so very kind. I imagine with his gift and who he is, he’s had so much time to become the wonderful being he is. Keir is delightfully stubborn and fights against the pull he feels towards Petro, which makes for some lovely tension. There are moments though in which I can see his humanity. He has a beautiful soul waiting to be freed.
“I am yours and you are mine.” Such simple but powerful words that change the course of a life. I am once again amazed at the strength of their bond and the depth of love they feel for each other. It makes me giddy and content at the same time. Unfortunately, someone else wants Keir in their life and they are canny and dangerous. It was painful watching Keir struggle. Luckily, our gargoyle and vampire have some powerful and loyal friends to help. If you’re looking for intense fights, selfless sacrifices, astounding bravery and passion along with indefatigable love, this book is for you.
Natural enemies can become friends. Petro, gargoyle longs for his mate. Keir, vampire just exists. He avoids everything until he needs to feed. Petro works for a group that protects the world from the Order of the Viata Eterna. The backstory of how the gargoyles came to existence is unique. Marius created the gargoyles to kill vampires and his enemies and feed his ego. Once Marius was defeated, Petro and his team were on clean up duty. Petro meets Keir during one of his reconaissance missions. He had dreamed of Keir before they met. He saw him and knew they were mates immediately. Their journey to get acquainted was bumpy, curvy with slight twists. Can Keir and Petro put aside their differences? Can they co-exist? Is Marius finally gone? Nice story. Will gargoyles and vampires ever get along? Nice story! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am volntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in THE STONE SERIES. This is a FANTASTIC Book. Petro is a gargoyle guardian protector. He helps protect the world from supernatural beings. Keir is a vampire, who has never lost his complete humanity. This is a world of fated mates. It's an interesting world that is very different than most. I loved this book and enjoyed the characters very much. The watcher Jonna is still active and more powerful than before. This is a happily ever after and has a wonderful EPILOGUE!!! I'm excited because there's a book #3 that I can't wait to get started on, STONE HEARTS. I'm so loving bingeing on these books. BL MAXWELL has a true and complete way of writing characters. These can be read as stand alones but I can't read just one. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES!!!!!!
I like the whole concept of gargoyles meeting their fated mates. However, in my opinion, the bond didn’t shine as fiercely as it should have.
Petro spoke formally and kept repeating the same words like that would eventually make sense, if he said it enough times.
Petro and Keir - I didn’t feel that spark ignite to life when they met. The attraction didn’t have any intensity which left me disappointed. The heat between these two was seriously lacking too. I was simply left wanting more at every turn.

I love this story about fated enemies. How can a gargoyle and a vampire be bonded? The fates had something special for Petro, a gargoyle and Keir, a vampire. I love how protective Petro is of Keir, and he'll do whatever it takes to keep Keir safe. Their journey is dangerous but their special bond and love for each other help get them through. I love how they are always reassuring each other, "You and mine, and I am yours." This beautifully written book has all the feels and you can't help but love these characters. I recommend this book and can't wait for more. I feel you can enjoy this book as a standalone but I do recommend the first book also, Stone Under Skin.
What happens when you find out your enemy is your fated mate? The gargoyles are guardians, protectors, and hunters of evil vampires, but what happens when Petro discovers his fated mate is a vampire? Fortunately, Keir is nothing like Petro knows vampires to be. Unfortunately, Keir is under the sway of his maker/sire who is every bit as awful as the worst evil. Can Petro break Keir free of his maker? Is their fated bond stronger? I enjoyed this unique story. It's engaging, fun, and sexy. Oh - and it has gargoyles and vampires as MCs - what more does it need to recommend it? 😉

I loved this book. The gargoyles are free from a crazy vampire who controlled them. And after Ankit find his fated one. The other gargoyles dream of finding the one for them. Petro is on patrol to hunt the remaining bad vampires. When he finds the one he has dreamed of for so long. But turns out he a vampire named Keir and he has lived far longer than the gargoyles. Keir's maker causes trouble and forces Keir to do his biding. Petro has to find a way to save Keir. Will Petro and Keir's bond be enough to save them both?
This is a lovely fun story about a gargoyle and a vampire falling in love. I love mm fantasy romance books and I did enjoy this book just not as much as I did the first in this series. I guess my biggest problem is that I found it to be rather repetitive in parts and it didn’t further the overall story as much as I would have liked. Notwithstanding that this is a good read and I will definitely be reading the future books in this series.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Petro and Kier are gargoyle and vampire, and fated mates. Kier wants no part of it, is suspicious of Petro, and stubbornly refuses to accept that they are fated mates. Petro is so understanding and completely selfless to the point of risking everything if his mate rejects him. When Petro discovers a cunning, crafty enemy has his sights set on his mate he does everything in his power to rescue him and prove their love is fated.
This book tells the story of Petro, a Gargoyle, who was created to keep humans safe, he guarded against vampires who sucked the blood of many. He was lonely he dreamed of finding a mate. Gargoyles could fight the pull of their fated mate, their mates were not picked by them but by a higher being. Keir was a vampire, they were mortal enemies, could fate be so cruel or could they overcome their hatred of the other species? A very enjoyable M/M read.
A gargoyle created to destroy vampires. A vampire who cannot escape the evil influence of his maker, as much as he may want to. They are fated, togather they must find a way to be free in order to live the live they are meant to. Great second instalment in this series. I loved Allen Jeffries’s accents for both Keir and Pedro.
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building. This is an enemies to lovers romance. Gargoyles are guardians protecting against vampires. But what happens when gargoyle Petro discovers his fated mate in vampire Keir when he finds him while on patrol? I liked this dynamic to the story. It upped the stakes in the overall scheme of things. A fun read that I couldn't put down. 5 stars.
Petro a gargoyle who is part of the team trying to protect humans from blood thirst vampires (literally). He finds his mate in Keir, a vampire. So it may take a bit to convince Keir that this is possible. So sweet and the tussel for dominance is both hot and so cute!!
I really enjoyed this book, but I did find it lacking in character development. The story itself was what kept me involved and I am glad I did finish it and can talk about it with others.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
With the enemies to lovers trope mixed with fated mates this was an entertaining read however I would have loved to see a little bit more depth with the storyline. This is a fun read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series
