Two different worlds

Rate this book
Two tales. One journey. Kaia lives in a world dominated by technology. A world where human compassion is pushed to the wayside to make room for social media and the cold, grey domain that is the world wide web. But this world was never meant to last. On a cloudy day in Seattle, the tech capital of the world, while attempting to save a man standing in traffic—a man everyone on the curb would rather film than help—Kaia sees the impossible above the city skyline. …Or so she thinks. Henrick is a normal man, an immigrant, hoping to attain the American dream. But on his way to work, while stopping by his favorite bakery, he sees the first signs of the change that is about to sweep the country, and it terrifies him. In the coming days, as alien ships appear across the world, hovering above the larger cities, men and women begin to lose their way—wandering the streets, staring up into the sky, falling to the ground, convulsing. And as the world falls into darkness and confusion, humanities worst rise to the surface, rioting and destroying. And just when Kaia thinks things couldn’t get worse—They attack. In a race to escape the city and find salvation from the aliens and the indoctrinated men and women wandering the streets, Kaia leads a group to the west, pulled by an intense feeling in her stomach. And in the mayhem, Kaia meets Henrick, and her world—everything she thought she knew—is turned upside down as destiny crashes down all around her. As they push toward the Pacific, it becomes more apparent that something larger is at work, that there is a guiding hand steering her. But that isn’t all. Something—or someone—wants her to keep the children safe. Can she? In the final days of their journey, Kaia and Henrick start to understand the scope of what’s happening, that their fight for survival will continue for decades, spanning multiple generations. And it is in this knowledge that Kaia finally understands why she feels that she needs to keep the children safe. What is it that makes us human? Where does the soul reside? Can humanity have a creator with proof that aliens exist? An epic tale spanning decades, filled with love, loss, pain, and redemption amongst and alien invasion and the end of everything we used to know.
