His Boy Next Door #31-36

His Boy Next Door: Season Four

Rate this book
Channon Beaumont has so much to be grateful for. An amazing Dom (who is also an amazing boyfriend), kinky friends, and people who care for him. What more could he possibly want?

Jack never expected to find someone like Channon, and now that he has, he's working on a plan to keep him.

In Season Four of His Boy Next Door, Channon and Jack must determine what they want from each other in the long term, and not just in the bedroom. What started out as kinky fun has grown into the kind of love you only find once in a lifetime, but if they want to make it last, they're going to have to be honest with each other and themselves.

Originally read and reviewed the installments. I love Jack and Channon, the continued steamy AF kink, the creativity/variety of the kink, and how far their relationship has come. Channon, in particular, has grown so much as an individual. I did think the ending here was a bit rushed, considering what happened was 36 installments in the making, but I loved that Channon and Jack are becoming more equal, power-wise, in their relationship and can't wait to see how they continue to grow as a couple. I'm so ready for the next season of this series to begin! Also, there is a spin-off featuring Max, Adam, and Tig called A Sub For Christmas.

As much as I thought in the beginning that this series was PWP, I have to admit how wrong I was. The stories may not have been long but as they progressed the actual plot was hashed out and it was really kind of beautiful to me.

I found the BDSM relationship that Jack and Channon had with each other was wildly different than anything that I had read before and the "need-to-be-perfect and please" kink was extremely interesting. I appreciated that the author didn't make this Dom such a sadistic ass and that after initially seducing Channon it became a symbiotic relationship and Jack needed to be able to live up to Channon's expectations as well.

I loved to watch Channon blossom from having basically no personality to knowing who he was and what he wanted and being unapologetic about it. He was so insecure to begin with and he was still reserved towards the end but he was able to put himself out there.

I find it funny that normally I don't care for books that have multiple partners no matter how loyal or dedicated the MCs are and I wasn't thrilled about it in the beginning of this series but for some reason it just didn't bother me as much especially later in the series when they had expressed their love to each other and knew that it brought joy to both of them for Channon to be "shared" (used, displayed, debauched, etc.) It was just their thing but they kept the lines of communication open to make sure they were both OK with it. Do I find it particularly realistic? Not really, because we are messy creatures emotionally, but the fantasy is lovely and RJ Moray has done a wonderful job.

As much as I have adored the gentleness of Jack and Channon's relationship, I am very excited to finally delve into Nate and Ewan's books. I deliberately put them off until I got done with this season but I am ready. I was always a little confused about Ewan's feelings towards Channon. I know there's a great deal of affection in his own surly way, but I couldn't tell if it was more and how that interacted with him and Nate. So, maybe there will be some answers in the their books.

When things progress to family, friends, rings.

Work, exercise, eat, drink, play, party, repeat. Life can get boring if you keep doing the same things with the same people. But some people never get boring.

As life gets better with new friends and places, so do relationships and love that grows to greater depths and heights. But sometimes even family make mistakes that change dynamics when social media are involved.

New friends can help with new hurts and old friends can heal the scars. Friendship and trust are key, but true friends stay true. True love gets even better and spills over family and work situations to keep it interesting.

So here’s the thing, I like reading smut when I’m in the mood for it and the boy next door series is choc full of it. But to binge on 4 long “seasons” back to back? Usually I can’t do it.

So usually after a book or two of smut / erotica, I’ll read other romance books with more plot or character driven because I needed more romance (not just between the sheets) and more of a love story. But somehow this series got a hold of me because after somewhere in the middle of season 2 onwards, I got what I wanted in a book & especially season 3 & 4 and of course still lots of kinky scorching sex. The MC’s character growth was wonderful to read and their relationship evolved from just a supposedly summer fling, to a beautiful love story. The sex between them evolved too, at first it was a little porny because they were basically strangers but their relationship blossomed, and then along the way, it wasn’t just getting off anymore, sometimes they were making love and it showed how in love they were.

Their road to always wasn’t easy, there were insecurities and mistakes from both parties but their HEA was hard earned and I know it’s going to be forever!!

The books aren’t perfect but there’s a certain charm to it and I loved and enjoyed them immensely. I absolutely adored Channon and Jack was yummilicious as well as Nate and Ewan too. Aww the ending, gosh I loved it and would love a novella in the near future to visit them hint hint lovely author 😉 edit - omg I didn’t know there was a short chapter #37! Yasss going to read now!

Safety squad - there’s a lot of sharing and new kinks as the series progresses but no cheating.

Spoilers if you haven't read the previous seasons. Gah I am so obsessed with these! Another great set of episodes.

It feels a bit like the author retconned Channon a little in the last two seasons but I don't even care. In these recent ones she made it seem like his stupidity was more of an act in the past than truth but, I mean, these stories are literally just the internal thoughts of these two men so it's hard to say that Channon "acted" like a dumb jock when we had access to all those thoughts. But I'm so, so happy with where Channon's at that I super don't care. Fine, he was always more aware than we thought, I'm in. These episodes explored his friendships and wants (his own, not Jack's) so much more and I am very grateful. His friendship with Ewan continues to be a bright spot - they look out for each other and can be their full true selves since they're both in the scene. I love seeing Channon learn about himself. There was a lot of great communication between Channon and Jack in these episodes and that is why their relationship is so healthy. They talk through their kinks and check in with each other and Jack is being more honest with Channon as well - allowing him to see Jack as more human and less infallible, which creates more equity between them.

Jack is still very much in control but it works because it's what Channon wants too and I really like seeing how their relationship works for them. Nate and Ewan's relationship is so very different but obviously works for them too - everybody is getting what they need. But Jack was honestly an asshole about Ewan and it pissed me right off. Surely he can understand that someone would want a bratty sub even if it's not for him. He understands how everybody is interested in their own things and doesn't judge other people in the scene even if they do things different but apparently he doesn't extend that to Nate and Ewan? That's crazy work. I hated it because it made it feel like the real reason he has an issue with Ewan is more to do with how he feels about Nate and I really want to be done with that. Every single thought in Jack's head is about how perfect Channon is for him and how much he loves him and wants to keep him forever but then there will be a little random thought about Nate and it just hurts me. I'm hoping that future episodes can allow for Jack to move on completely. I know they have a long and complicated history but I'd like it to feel like their romantic past is truly past. Unless, I suppose, they become a true polycule of some kind with Nate and Ewan.

I obviously read these books because they're delicious. I love BDSM and I love D/s dynamic and I love smut and these deliver that perfectly. However, I would be remiss if I didn't say that they've honestly changed how I feel about other parts of their relationship - namely the sharing. I have always been the kind that cannot stand to see their MCs with other men. I never want cheating, I don't want to read encounters with other hookups, and in the past I have struggled with sharing. I will always feel how I feel about cheating and probably hooking up with others too but I see how sharing is absolutely not the same as those and shouldn't evoke the same feeling. I can honestly say that I understand it now. I'm still allowed to have preferences when reading and avoid things I don't want but in this case I think it was more of me not understanding well enough and avoiding based on assumptions. Not to get all back to school special over an erotica serial but these really have changed my viewpoint. Whatever people decide to do in their relationship is fine and normal (just like Jack has been explaining to Channon this whole time) as long as everyone is enthusiastically consenting. The dynamic completely works for them - everyone involved wants it and there is absolutely no jealousy, no manipulating the other into allowing it or doing it, and they both think it's hot. Which means that it's perfectly good and normal even if it's not for me personally. Honestly, the gang bang episode was one of my favs and that is not a sentence I thought I would write. They are emotionally/romantically exclusive and I think that's the part that truly matters to me (which is why the ghost of whatever it is with Nate bothers me still).

I am so excited to see what other kinks they explore (some were teased in these and I ABSOLUTELY want follow up), what comes next in their relationship, and what they do with Nate and Ewan. I know they have their own series (A Collar for His Brat) but the pain aspect of their dynamic is too intense for me and I don't think I could handle it front and center so for now I will just look forward to seeing them in these. Hopefully Jack can get over himself and figure it out with Ewan. Fingers crossed.

“He probably just wants to find out if we’re going to break up, so he can get in your pants.” Channon made a face, pulling himself to his feet. “Gross.” “Oh, I don’t know.” Jack kissed him on the brow, just a quick bit of PDA. “He’s practically a billionaire. And he’s hot. You could do worse.” “I already have one of those,”

“Channon, he’s not going to…. Do you really think he’s going to dump you for a woman so he can have a fucking baby?” Channon hunched, hating himself. “Yes? I don’t know!” “Your obsessively besotted boyfriend who worships the ground you walk on?” Tig went on, his voice pitching up into a shriek. “Your ludicrous sugar daddy? Fuck you, he’s more likely to buy some kind of illegal cloning technology from Russia than hook up with a woman!”

“Do the four of you go on double dates?” “Sometimes,” Channon said. “Are you asking if we all get together to fuck?” Ewan demanded, loud enough that someone at the next table glanced over. Rayyan shrugged. “I just meant dinner and a movie, but okay.”

“I just think—I mean. I thought,” he started again, glaring down at the surface of the water, “that he was…not good for you.” “Because he’s after my money.” Ewan scowled. “Ha, ha. I thought maybe he seduced you.” “He did. It was great.” “I thought maybe he got you to do things you didn’t want to do.” “Yeah. That was great, too.”

¡Fabulosa! 😍 Me encanta. 🌟

Forgot to review this when I read it last month but it was still good, kinky fun. Although...and this is my only real complaint...yes, I get that Channon is PERFECT but do we need that reiterated every 5 seconds? Other than that, this installment was just as good as the previous ones.

Such a fun read! The kink in this series is hot and never repetitive or boring. Jack & Channon’s relationship is sweet and so much more than it was in the beginning. These two characters are truly deeply in love with each other and their relationship is untraditional but exactly what they both want.

My favorite parts of this season were the new kinks Jack & Channon discovered they were into. I also liked how they tried something new and they were both like nah, not for us.

Channon’s character has grown so much since the beginning. In the first couple seasons he seemed so mindless and vulnerable and it made the relationship feel kind of smarmy. It’s great to see him have a personality and assert himself more.

I sped through all 4 seasons in a weekend once I found this serial. I don’t usually read something that’s “unfinished” or a HFN. I love me a good happily ever after. But this series went on and into the lives so deeply of these two MCs that I just ate it all up. You see two characters deeply in love with each other who do things that most would find unspeakable or just plain wrong. But it works for them and that’s what is important.

It’s fiction. So I have to take myself out of my reality and into a world I can only imagine.

It’s incredibly hot and I want more.

You gotta love this author for writing a bildom seducing a barely legal high school student into basically a full-time submissive lifestyle and then spending the next 30+ books unpacking it, the bildom beginning to think things like “hmmmm might this be a little problematic” “am I actually doing enough to earn the trust he’s placing in me” “what will he think about me when he’s my age” “I feel bad for being callous toward him when I first met him and thought he would just be a sexy hobby” “he is the love of my life.” Which… is not what I expected?

And I’m starting with Jack because I didn’t expect emotional complexity in this character archetype (that isn’t just “I was abused”), but Channon... this series only works because his characterization is SO strong. His sense of humor especially kills me, it’s so funny and realistic to exactly who this guy is.

This particular series has turned out to be a very high-smut but surprisingly complex exploration of how to make your relationship less icky (without breaking up). A whole series about two characters who love one another and are trying to make their relationship work for them both while they also grow and change as individuals, basically. I read a lot of this on tenterhooks (not *literally*) but as I got deeper and deeper into it, my worry moved from “when is this going to fall over the edge into pure creep” to “how will Channon and Jack make it work, they both deserve to be happy” which was pleasantly surprisingly.

Just add this series the list of those doing in longform what could never had been pulled off in a book, or two, or ten. For comparison - the Arden St. Ives trilogy by Alexis Hall, a classic of the “what if bildom, but well-written” subgenre, which gives you whiplash speeding through its plot. But there’s no other option if you want to cover that much emotional ground in three books! (Look, team Ardy baby forever, if How to Bang a Billionaire was 30+ books you better believe I would drop everything and read them all.) For another comparison - the Criminal Intentions series by Cole McCade (29 books and counting). Although the gritty crime stuff is sometimes not to my taste, the relationship arc McCade has written over the course of that series is essentially unparalleled because he had the time and the space (and the skill) to develop Malcolm and Seong-Jae, individually and together, far more than they could ever have been in the first few books of a series alone. (This is *especially* the case since one of the characters is gray ace - some of the best, most accurate representation I’ve ever seen and it would never have been possible if the story wasn’t longform.)

So to return to the actual series I’m reviewing haha… I am looking forward to reading more! I am very interested to see how this author continues with these characters - even 36 books in there’s so much more to unpack so I’m curious to see where the story is going to go.

My comments apply to installments #1 - #40. Reread of seasons 1-3.
I rarely reread something so out of my comfort zone. This series is probably 70 - 80% kink I don't care so, less in the first season of the series as it pretty much concentrates only on the two main characters, Jack the dom and Channon the sub.

-First of all, this is the journey of a virginal 18-year-old boy into a hard-core 24/7 relationship. I don't like those, at all, the sub even gets dictated on what days he can have a cheat day and eat a slice of pizza. Not realistic at all. He has very very little will of his own. And frankly, I would have felt more comfortable if Channon had at least been two years older, not a few weeks shy of his high school graduation.
-Secondly, there's a lot of swapping, swinging, sharing and displaying the sub with all kinds of super kinky people. I can deal with the occasional menage between the dom's best friend and his sub, but I find it completely weird that the dom gets turned on being basically cuckolded. Shudder.
-Thirdly, there is just too much weird stuff going on. Kink school for subs, creepy sex clubs, objectification, training of a cum- and cock slut, side characters that weird me out (Mr White, hello).
-Fourth, the sub gets his rock off being a service sub which is - arggg - so not sexy. I am also frankly quite often uncomfortable with how little free initiative and will he shows. His standard response is "Whatever you wish for Sir" and most often I only want to shake him.

However, I absolutely adore the main characters as well as the main side characters (Nate and Ewan, the dom and sub's best friends). I adore most of the kink they do when they are alone (except for the predicament bondage later on, because crippling pain in the whole body is not erotic anymore), I absolutely love how the dom coaxes Channon (the sub) out of his shell and strengthens his self-esteem (because his dad and mother belittled him on every turn). I like how the author captivates me - and let me tell you - it takes some talent to write good smut and engage me in over 40 instalments in a series that mostly features stuff that's completely out of my comfort zone.

Will I reread the series again? Probably not. Will I read further instalments? Definitely yes. And I will also revisit Nate and Ewan's story.
B fir the first season, B- for the second season, C- for all further installments (mainly bc of all the stuff that weirds me out).

4.5⭐️ 5🌶️

• BDSM (can’t list all the k!nks as they try and like soooo many!!)
• MM romance
• dom/sub (Sir)
• gentle dom
• age gap (about 20 years)
• gay awakening
• billionaire x insecure young man
• 3rd person pov

I’m writing one review for all 40 episodes (spoiler free).

Add!citing series! I’ve had so much fun reading this. It’s definitely full on BDSM erot!ca, don’t get me wrong, but there’s also a lot of romance and some plot. It was nice to discover BDSM in a healthier environment outside of the realm of dark romance. So much communication was put into this couple and I really appreciated that.

I went into the first volume thinking it was a series or short stories, and discovering it’s instead a longer serialized story of the same characters. I was pleasantly surprised and realized this is probably the first 3rd person pov romance I read that I actually loved! So well executed.

Now, I’m absolutely a newbie in reading the world of full BDSM, but as an inexperienced reader of this, I really appreciated how realistic it felt, it’s still fiction of course, but to me this is has one of the most realistic spicy scenes I’ve personally ever read.

It was so fun to be immersed in the pov and dynamics of two characters who fully engage in BDSM in their lifestyle. This was a discovery read for me and it made me realize how much trust is needed for BDSM to work. It got emotional in some parts too and I loved that! Although some of the k!nks did make me a little uncomfortable/surprised, but that’s me lol, they’re very kinky! But they’re cute together. I’ve certainly smiled and giggled a lot reading this, either actual happy smiles or smiles of embarrassment lol

The characters are well developed and they are just so sweet and cute. Jack is definitely a gentle dom. And Channon is such a sweetheart.

I’m curious to see if there will be more episodes, I surely hope so.

Extremely Satisfying

Well, this book gave me everything I wanted without ever being predictable. There’s so much sex and kink that afterward I was, for once, able to enjoy a book that had hardly any sex in it because I was still fully sated by this book. The emotional journey of their relationship was the very best part, though, and I’m just so happy I read it. I think I might start the series again from the beginning this weekend.

I think my favorite part was when one of their fantasies turned out to be a lot less exciting in reality and they had a great conversation about it. And my second favorite was the fantasy that turned out to be even more exciting than anticipated...

This is a review for season 1,2 3 as well, just the sum of the two. ISuch irony that a series where the kink activities are pretty harsh (lot of pain play, punishment, brat taming) ends up being so romantic (A collar for his brat), while the other couple (this series) seems so cold and kind of scary in comparison. The romance of it is much less present, and most of the books deal with kink and Channon's kink journey. It is more sex centered and focused than "A collar for his brat".
It was enjoyable, in general, but I admit the first book definitely shocked me - if you are looking for some slight uncomfortable power dynamic, this is the one for you!

Don't look at me or my emotional support erotica!

This is the filthiest, kinkiest thing I've ever read, all 36 episodes or 1700 pages of the highest of heat erotica, and I'm ridiculously emotionally invested and in love with Jack and Channon ❤️

I usually don't even like anything too hardcore and I prefer my erotica short and not too often so I truly don't know what happened here? But I'm in it now!

No one does it like RJ Moray - direct from the freakiest gangbang that had me blushing and fanning myself straight to the most emotional and romantic proposal that had me crying tears of joy. His Boy Next Door is a work of art and should be nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature!

Just so good! I can't get enough of Jack and Channon. Their relationship is growing and evolving, but they're still hotter than ever. The kink is so kinky. Their love for one another is beautiful. I was holding back happy tears several times this season. I can't wait for Season Five, although I'm already sad that it will probably be the end of their story. They are definitely one of my favorite couples ever!

This one was cute, and I really like that Jack had a lot more introspective moments. A little repetitive at some parts with some clunky exposition in the beginning, but another thoroughly enjoyable read. (Very smutty, obviously, but I really appreciated this time that they didn’t immediately love everything they tried and were really conscientious about whether the other person was actually enjoying the very uncomfortable kinky things before moving forward or not.)

I read each of these when they were released, but after reading some less loving TPE BDSM, I felt a need to revisit Jack and Channon. I still feel like this is the ultimate TPE, with each of them feeding a deep need in the other. Beautiful and hot and dirty and lovely. Still looking forward to more from this author!

Like Season Three, Season Four of His Boy Next Door was highly enjoyable, full of creative new scenarios, new characters, new kinks, and the same commitment to character development and astute character observations. Channon continues to grow into himself, and Jack feels like he's growing too, much more so than in previous seasons. Nate and Ewan are getting further entwined with Jack and Channon and I look forward to seeing that dynamic progress as well.

It took me one year to finish this book. I loved the previous ones, but I guess the story just got too repetitive for me. I thought something different would happen in their relationship but nothing, exactly nothing happened. It was sooooo boring.
And yet I pushed myself to finish it cause it was a series I used to love. Sad.

Loved the book. Shannon and Jack were a wonderful couple I was very to read their story. Wish it was in audible, the text to speech is ok but I love the ones that are are chosen to read the story. I think John Solo would be a good narrator to read the story. His voice is wonderful.

Can’t believe this has turned into the greatest love story of all time. It’s insane how far they’ve come since book 1. I can’t help but feel such pride towards Channon, love seeing him mature and find himself and his voice and Jack realizing that he deserves love and that he too can still change
